Moved from 35 miles away and so had to switch from our vet that we have been going to for 13 years. Considered various locations and finally decided here. So far so good. Rates are a little bit higher than what we were accustomed to paying but the quality of care thus far seems acceptable with friendly, compassionate and interested staff. It’s nice that there are snacks, drinks, and coffee in the waiting room while you wait, as well as snacks for the four-legged friends. As an interesting aside, my daughter brought an abandoned cat here that was left at her doorstep that had a broken leg. Originally it was proposed by vet that the cat needed surgery, but on the day of the surgery, the vet called us and told us how much improved the cat was and that surgery was no longer necessary and that the cat was healing very well on its own. I view that as very honest and above board and and as a very positive sign of the integrity of this vet’s office. Other places may not of told you that, they may have just done the (now unnecessary)procedure and taken the $800 whether the cat needed it or not. How would anyone have known otherwise? I am so pleased with the exception care, gentleness, professional and prompt service from the Deland office,,Dr Evers was just incredible and thorough, explaining and showing us the problem. I highly recommend both Dr. Elizabeth and Dr,Evers. The office got us right i away on emergency, the staff was excellent as well. They diagnosed and treated our Lucy, she is already so much better. So disgusted with this place. This will be strike two with this horrible place. The facility is clean and up to date, the front desk staff are friendly and welcoming. But the Vets.....morons. Both of my dogs are in there system as patients, they both were given vaccinations at this location. I had an emergency, my two dogs got in a tiff, I believe over some food. The smaller one a Miniature Schnauzer, senior. Got bitten right under the eye, you could see the casing of the eye through the hole. I got him in as soon as they opened the doors knowing he needed stitches. As I said staff was friendly, got us in quickly to the room. Then the waiting begins. They had another dog in the back that they were doing something to. I’m unsure as to what, but the dogs screams were heard throughout the facility. We were greeted by the tech, she asked us what was going on, she was kind, looked the dog over and told us the Vet would be with us shortly. About 45mins later he came in. Asked what was going on, and informed me my dogs were due for shots. I was aware. They just came due for two booster shots within that month. He was extremely rude about it. But then he started to blame the dog tiff on rabies, and informed me that they take rabies vaccines very seriously. If he is looking at the chart and can see they’re both due for boosters then that rude POS can surely see that my SENIOR dog has a THREE YEAR rabies shot that was administered at the very location that we are standing in. I processed to get upset and calmly tell him I thought his questions were stupid. He became upset, refused to look at the dog and left the room. HOW PROFESSIONAL and KNOWLEDGEABLE! I left right away went to the brand new vet in DeLand they got my dog in, in less then 10mins. Cleaned him up, they were lifesavers to a horrible stressful day. They knew the dog being hurt was already enough stress and the number one priority to deal with. As I said this is the second bad experience I’ve had here, I do not recommend. Super thankful for Newman Deland. My normal vet is closed today and my cat was having a hard time breathing and coughing. We called Newman and they were able to take us as a walk in on a very short notice. They didn't try to sell us unneeded things and got straight to the problem, comes to find out he has asthma. The vet even worked with us on the price of the antibiotics and steroids and got us out of there with a bill of $60. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone looking for one. If you enjoy watching your pet suffer from misdiagnosis, flushing hundreds of dollars down the drain, wasting countless hours and then this is the vet for you. Never will you see the same vet twice and they will never take responsibility for their mistakes. Instead, they will try and blame you, the owner, for their poor quality of work, lack of knowledge and awful problem solving skills. I even got one vet that didn't speak English but Mandarin, I think. I complained and made many attempts to let them remedy this situation but if you complain you will be met head on with animosity, bad tempers and a lack of compassion. The owner seems to enjoy responding to these complaints and that is why I thought they would fix the problem. Wrong again. Read Less

I have been taking my 8 year old black lab to another vet in the area for a while now trying to get some answers for his skin allergies, all his old vet did was give him shots for a simple temporary fix and try to get me to buy everything in the office rather than focus on the real issue and try to find a solution. My poor boy has suffered for months, I didn't know what to do and happened to hear about Newmans, and thank God I did! They treated us like family, and Brady like he was their own dog. They gave him what he has been really needing, not just a temporary fix. I didn't feel any pressure at all from them, they made me feel so comfortable, and Brady loved them! This was the best decision I have ever made for my pet, by switching him to Newmans. We will never go anywhere else! I used Newmans for years and had no bad experiences. They change vets often and most seemed to be right out of college. They treated my dog for an eye problem and she lost vision in the eye. I blame the poor medical care from the vet for her loosing the eye. Would never use them again and would never ever recommend them for ANYTHING. Awful experience and lack of proper treatment was blatant. It could have all been prevented. Shame on you! Read Less

Dr. Hutchinson and NVC's staff of veterinary assistants/technicians (Jessica, Cheryl, Emily, Brittney and Linda) have provided excellent care to my growing retriever, properly assessing his general health needs and assisting during unexpected visits. If I could rate this establishment any higher, I would. I went in today around 3 pm, not really knowing what to expect. I just did a walk in visit, no appointment or anything. The office looks like it's recently been redone, they have refreshments and plenty of seating to wait for your appointment. I probably waited about a half hour or so (which I didn't mind) because they had a euthanasia scheduled for one of their clients dog, which was heartbreaking. They were extremely courteous and kind, especially to the people getting their dog euthanized. The lady at the front desk (didn't get her name) was really friendly. Not only do they work extremely hard at making our four legged family feel at home but they go our of their way to keep us informed and aware of every step of the appointment as well. Most of the staff at this facility is excellent. Very friendly and caring and loving towards my dogs. However, one of the doctors, doctor Kim, is completely and utterly useless. She has no bedside manner when dealing with dogs. She barely speaks English. She makes no attempt to pet the dog, and frankly it appears she wants nothing to do with them. On our last visit, my dog walked towards her, and she was practically climbing up a wall to get away from him. I will admit that my dog is very large, and he is a pitbull, but he has never shown any sign of aggression and he is very well behaved. Most of the other works always walk over and greet and pet him because he is so loving. I will never return to this place and look forward to when this doctor gets fired. Read Less

A few weeks ago I took my cat to this office for a case of Urinary Tract Infection.I originally go to the shelter's clinic because that is where I got my cats.However,they were too busy to check him,so they reffered me to Val-u-vet.They told me excellent things about the place.One thing was that they were the most affordable vet office in Orlando,that was VERY true.The waiting time was only about 10 minutes.Once we met the doctor they were very kind just like the receptionist.You could tell that they were dedicated to what they were doing.My cat had to get a urine sample but since he didn't urinate they would have to inject him with fluids so he could.They told us to leave him there until he was injected and they had gotten a urine example.In about 30 minutes or so we recieved their call saying that he was ready.As soon as we returned they had him in his cage and the results of the urinalyisis.We were told to give him 1.5 mL of medicine twice a day for 3 weeks.The very next Monday they called me to check on my cat.I felt VERY satisfied because the cared enough to check on his health.Today my cat is as healthy as can be and the infection treated in LESS than 3 weeks like told.Very soon he is to have another check up to see how well he has healed.I KNOW that they will do as good as last time.So PLEASE next time your on a budget for your pet,want wonderful services,or want a simple chech up for your pet I VERY STRONGLY suggest Val-u-vet.
