First visit after more than a decade of loyalty to another veT WHERE I used to live but now too far away. This is not my first try to find a vet closer to me but WE DID IT. Dr Edelson is a skilled and compassionate vet. He spent so much time with asking questions and giving experienced opinion and advice for my two dogs. His staff was extraordinary: patient, educated about animals, and really kind and interactive with my dogs. I read a few reviews about this place being expensive but even without an introductory Groupon price, prices are fair and on par for a modern, well staffed and experienced vet service. This is a very expensive vet office. I believe the prices charged at Imperial Point Animal Hospital by Gary Edelman DVM are comparable to what the Palm Beach Specialty Vets charge without the benefit of PBSV's extensive expertise. $238.- (after 10% off..) is a bit of a stretch for two deworming pills and a health certificate! But the big positive was the new (to me..) DVM Kerry Maxner as she seem both caring and very knowledgeable. The CVTs and VAs are always helpful and very nice and my low score here is due to the excessively high prices and I find it odd how veterinary services can cost more here than in Norway - one of the worlds most expensive countries?  In Lillehammer,Norway I pay less than half of what Imperial Point in Delray charge for the exact same service. Something's off..I believe Dr. Kerry Maxner might have just filled in for Dr. Edelman and if she happens to work at another clinic in the area I will consider it the next time I'm in need of veterinary services - and then use PBSV for emergencies and more complicated issues. I hope Dr. Edelman pay his staff well as it seem from many of the reviews here they're the ones that keep his "boat afloat"..For anyone looking for more affordable vet care I suggest you look up Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue's vet clinic "someplace out west".. I don't know where to begin. I didn't have a vet for my beautiful little dog, Bucky Dent, a 13 year old Havanese, when I moved here from Upstate NY. Bucky developed sudden onset of breathing difficulties, gait problems, wasn't eating/drinking. I took a chance by calling Imperial early on a Saturday morning. Molly heard the grave concern in my voice and got me in straight away even tho Saturday's are their busiest day of the week and I wasn't part of their practice. When I arrived, Molly had set aside a room and quickly escorted me and Bucky into the exam room. Molly sat with me and cried with me. I knew the end was near for Bucky. Dr. Edelson examined him. Bucky was in congestive heart failure. Soon after, Dr Edelson's assistant, Megan, came in to comfort Bucky and then Dr. Edelson walked me thru my options. Unfortunately, Bucky had to be put down. Heart wrenching decision but Molly, Megan and Dr Edelson were there to comfort me and Bucky even though their waiting room was full. Dr. Edelson...no words...his compassion and concern are unsurpassed by any Vet I've ever had for Bucky. No one in the practice knew me or Bucky, but we were treated as family. I will never forget the impeccable care they provided and the comfort they gave us. A very heartfelt and special thanks to Molly for sharing her own personal story with me. Thank you, Dr. Edelson and Megan, for your compassion and professionalism during this very difficult time. Imperial Point Animal Hospital holding my dogs hostage. Been with them over 10 yrs. Had to go out of town, and don't get paid for 10 more days, will not take check. I made an appointment for my dog to get vaccinations he needed for a local dog boarder. The Imperial staff were able to accommodate me same day. I've never seen such a clean facility! The staff were very nice and loved on my dog, who is normally a little weary of strangers. Shout out to Charlie for making us both so comfortable and knowledgeable during our visit. He mentioned that this place does dog boarding. Since they were so great, I cancelled my reservation and am dropping my dog off at Imperial tomorrow morning for a weekend stay! I was referred to them by a physician so I trusted they would be good...... I felt like they took advantage of my situation, even though I told them the problem was, they said let me take him to take temperature I don't understand why they couldn't do it in room in front of me? Then a PA comes I. Saying we're going to do blood work but going to cost 350$ plus X-rays for another 350$? I guess that's their magic #! After 753$ they say he has gastritis, don't know if I believe that bc I looked up symptoms and he never had any of them except for days ago he threw up once no diarrhea! Bs they could have gotten to that conclusion by doing the stool test which they did along with blood work and said everything was fine until they read said "X-ray" called and said diagnosis..... I really feel like that we're just out for money!! I was so upset with myself for letting them take my fur baby and doing whatever to him without me there, I wouldn't let pediatrician do that and they don't they do all test shots in front of parent.... The receptionist was understanding and kind while I booked my appointment for an urgent visit & they were gracious to fit me in same day as a new client. Upon arrival the facility is clean & well designed and the front desk staff friendly & attentive. The veterinarian himself was kind & even welcomed my pup in the waiting room. The vet tech was amazing, gained trust with my dog and efficiently took vital information. The wait was not long at all and the initial evaluation with the vet seemed caring and thorough. The initial treatment plan seemed a bit extensive and I was able to talk the vet down to a more reasonable approach. However, once they take your pup in the back do not expect to know exactly what they are administering to your pup. I had agreed to abx and a food modification, but had no clue my pup was about to receive IM (intramuscular) injections and bolus fluids. I don't refute this may have been medically necessary but it was NEVER explained to me this was what was about to occur. Mind you I am a medical professional (for humans) and would have been on board had it been communicated. Overall, the bill was higher than I have ever incurred for my pup & I was more so disappointed that I was not adequately informed as to what procedure or medication they were about to administer. The vet does take his time to examine the dog & I don't doubt his qualifications. I just would have appreciated more insight into what and how they were about to handle my animal outside my sight. My Australian Smooth Hair Collie, Cody Bear, has been terrified in nearly every veterinarian office I have taken him to. He gets very stressed out and starts trembling like a leaf. Unfortunately he hasn’t been feeling well and I had to get him checked out. This was our first visit to Imperial. Cody began shaking as soon as we went in so much that I was have trouble filling out the paperwork. One of the front office staff immediately ushered us into a quiet and clean exam room and shut the door so I could reassure Cody. Dr. Gary Edelson’s assistant came in and met Cody and got his history and why we were there. She said the doctor would be in shortly. A few minutes later she returned with Dr. Edelson. He talked with Cody and made friends with him first. He then listened carefully to everything I had to say and asked a few questions. His assistant offered Cody a treat and took him back to the lab for some blood work and an x-ray. She brought Cody back a few minutes later and he was completely relaxed. The doctor came back in a short while later to discuss his treatment plan for Cody. We waited a few minutes for his assistant to gather the meds being prescribed. As we waited other vet techs were handling end of the day tasks in the empty exam rooms and the waiting room. As they went by they would talk with Cody and gave him ear scratches and pets. The entire staff was incredible and Cody was completely relaxed when we left. My brother is a vet in another state and I was very impressed and pleased with the Dr. Edelson, his staff, and the Imperial Point Clinic. My Australian Shepard Trixie had the most INCREDIBLE experience this past weekend boarding. I have been to numerous boarding places and this one is by far the best in South Florida. The office is beyond clean, smells great, and they care so much for their pets. I received daily pictures and updates on how Trixie was doing. Run, don't walk the other way from this place. Took my senior dog here, dropped a couple grand over the last year or so and still only get "inconclusive" answers from this guy. Always, always more tests, and more $$$. Follow up calls with bad news has him calling all bubbly and excited about having to charge even more for his services. They prescribed a few things along the way, and even screwed that up by not knowing dosages or known side effects. They changed my dog's food, and his coat changed. I asked Dr Edelson if there was anything I could do about the increased shedding, thinking maybe adding egg or olive oil or something to his diet might help, and he said "we have furminator brushes for sale on that back wall." That pretty much describes everything there is to know about Imperial Point Animal Hospital. Up sell everything! More tests! And tests to confirm the tests. I am temporarily displaced from Tampa due to the hurricane and had to bring my work and my cats with me to the east coast and am staying longer than planned (no electric still).I have one cat who currently requires medication and I had enough for a week and with only 2 days left and still unable to return home, I needed to find a vet who would work with me to get me additional medication until I can get him back home and further care.I called and spoke with Charlie in the morning, he was very helpful, told me I would have to bring my cat in for an exam and could get me in the same afternoon.  I requested that they confirm they had the medication in stock so that I could get it at the same time.  He did and also gave me pricing of the office visit and the meds, which were both extraordinarily reasonable.I went to the appointment, kitty in tow, and met with Margo who took my furry baby's weight and vitals.  She returned quite quickly and I waited for the Dr.Dr. Edelson came in, we talked about my little boy's condition and that this has only been going on a couple weeks and we discussed future plans on what I plan to do when I get back home and hopes we will get to wean him off these meds and transition to something else soon.  He was knowledgeable and appears to have the same mindset as my vet.  He spent a good amount of time with us and seemed to be willing to sit and talk about whatever we needed to ensure my boy is taken care of.  At the end of our appointment he said to keep in touch and email or text him.I was really impressed and very happy with this initial meeting with Dr. Edelson and the entire staff.  They were all friendly and very accommodating and especially with my odd situation, they treated me as if I had taken my animals there for years.The one thing I did not like is that they remove your baby from the room, take them in the back to do get their weight and vitals.  Something this simple should be done right in the room where you are....it's like removing your diamond from your sight when you bring it to a jewelry store for them to look at. I absolutely love taking my animals here. This vet is so clean and the staff are awesome! They offer mani/pedis for your pup! They shave the hair around the nail, cut the nail, and paint with your choice of color. (Paint with doggy nail polish of course) all for $40! The first time I brought my pets in they gave me discounts for both which was nice. My pets are healthy and I rely on this vet to take care of my babies! I really trust this place and their staff. They treat your animals which such love and care. They keep the place spotless and always smelling fresh. They also offer flea baths for a great low price. I am an equine veterinarian but I brought my puppy to Imperial Point to have her spayed. Dr. Edelson did an excellent job with the surgery and she recovered quickly with no discomfort. She can be a difficult patient but the staff was great with her. They called as soon as she was out of surgery to let me know it went well and Dr. Edelson himself called later in the evening to check on her. The doctor doesn't seem very knowledgeable about animal behavior among dog breeds.  We have an uncut 2 yo male Australian Shepherd and he wondered why our dog became aggressive when he shoved a couple of needles in his forearm without taking the time to get to know him.  The assistant was very nice and playful with our dog but the vet was smug, pompous, arrogant, and obtuse.  I don't plan on returning. Found this vet office through Groupon and decided to give them a try. Our dogs first visit here was about a year ago and I was really pleased with everyone here. The receptionists are nice, techs are pleasant and very sweet to our dog and the vet is great too. Seems to really like our dog too and made really cute compliments about her. Recently our dog had an incident with another dog while with a sitter and suffered a small bite. It didn't seem too bad but I didn't want to take a chance so called up the office right away. The vet was doing house calls and wasn't in but a tech said he would look at her and just make sure she was ok. Didn't think it was too serious but to come back the next day to see the vet. It helped to make me feel better that it wasn't that serious. Today I went back and saw the doctor and as always, so friendly and so sweet to our dog. Dr. Edelson is honest and kind. He gave us a second opinion on a diagnoses from another vet and we have stuck with him ever since. The other vet claimed surgery was in order, but Dr. Edelson cured our pup with antibiotics and steroids. Saved us $1000 and saved our dog a lot of pain and discomfort! Another big plus is his Saturday and early morning hours! Much easier for people with full time jobs to find an appointment time that isn't inconvenient or take too much time away from work. I was referred to Dr. Edelson as I had just moved from West Palm Beach.  When I first went to find the office it was very dark and I had to call 3 times for someone to come out and wave me down so I knew where it was.  This was not done with a smile though I repeatedly apologized saying I just couldn't see it.  I brought my cat in for an ongoing urinary issue and haven't recieved, what I felt to be, a solid answer. Dr. Edelson stated she would need a shot, a urine test and something else to the tune of 400.00.  I love my cat but I've been struggling financially for the last year so it was not feasible.  (just a side note, she's always gotten the best care possible for the 9 years I've had her and this was a THIRD opinion)Anyway, I explained I could not do it at the time.  While at the front desk they MAKE you sign a release stating you're refusing treatment.  Ok, I get you have to cover your ass HOWEVER, the wording is so insensitive and hurtful, like you refused treatment cause you don't give a crap.  I literally started crying.  The staff felt bad and the doc wound up giving her a free flea treatment and a nail trim along with an anticeptic spray and shampoo he had gotten for FREE as a sample.  Nice thought doc, but making me sign such an insensitive form was so hurtful and offsetting I won't be back.  Maybe you need a reality check that some people have unfortunate circumstances and just can't afford a treatment.  It doesn't mean I love my baby any less.  Consider revising your treatment clause to be a little more sensitive and don't threaten to hold someone's animal hostage unless you sign such a hurtful document.  Thanks for the freebies but you need to find yourself a heart. Imperial Point Animal Hospital is hands down the best vet I have ever taken my dog to. The entire team is extremely caring accommodating with scheduling and follow ups. My dog recently had to have a mast cell tumor removed from his leg and I couldn't have asked for a more professional and caring team to take care of him. Dr. Edelson walked me through how everything went with the surgery and followed up with me to check in on my little guy. He even made sure I had his cell phone number in case I had questions or if my dog needed anything after surgery.They have always been very quick with appointments and don't make you wait around forever. When you consider a smug, listless and indifferent staff behind the counter and couple that with the doc's fancy Mercedes with "funny" animal plate which greets you as you enter and then says "goodbye" upon exiting you wonder if perhaps material possessions (and gain) plus some twisted sense of  illusory prestige rank higher than the care of our beloved four-footed friends. Sadly, I believe they do in this case.  I've used vets in DC, VA, MD and Atlanta for more than 40 years and have NEVER thought of writing anything like this about any of them. (Nor have I ever gotten such a negative vibe in such a short amount of time.) I used them recently one time in an emergency boarding situation and wouldn't think of giving them a penny more ($300+ was enough, thanks) for anything at any time ever again. Read Less

Just recently bought a puppy from the Petland in Plantation and they recommended different vets; this one was on the list. After doing research, we decided to choose this one based on the reviews and location. From the moment we walked in, the service was amazing. Took my dog here for dermatitis and walked out with a $302 bill. The $112 for the exam and anti biotic shot is understandable however $23 for a shampoo, $31 for a mousse that is an identical product to the shampoo, a dog collar cone for $30 when you can buy these for $6 at a pet store, next guard flea for 24$ when the dog doesn't have fleas, $20 for ointment which is comparable to neosporin AND tablets for $27. Outside of the exam, injection, and tablets the rest of this is overkill. This doctor is selling you more than you need and taking advantage of his patients. $162 bill was expanded to $302 for products that were replicating what was already prescribed. Just moved to the area from out of state and finding a new vet was a priority.  I read reviews here on Yelp and opted to check these guys out and I am so happy I did.  LOVE the doctor, he's good and he's personable which always helps.  Prices are reasonable and not inflated as  is with many of the vets here in this area.  Dr. Edelson has his cell phone number on his business card in case of an after hours emergency.  I have spoken to him on the phone and he is amazing.  My dog is family and I want the best for her and I've found it at Imperial Point Animal Hospital. **This review is strictly for their boarding services**I had a hard time finding someone to watch my dog over the 4th of July and they were available- which is why I am giving them 2 stars. (And because their front desk staff was friendly) For starters, this place is overpriced. They charge $30 a day, plus a grooming fee ($30ish), plus a fecal exam ($40). Fecal exam? Come on! Now some of you might say... Hmmm that's not a bad price compared to competitors in the area and you would be right. What you may not know is this place pretty much keeps your dog in a 4x6 cage the whole time and let's them out just to use the restroom. My dog got such bad anxiety that she dug at her nose until it was raw! On top of that, when they sent a picture over to "let me know how my dog is doing" they didn't say anything about it! I had to email them back to get an answer.I will not be taking my dog back to this place. At least if I'm going to pay $330 for 8 days, my dog should at least enjoy it and have some outside time or playtime with other dogs. Read Less

A stray cat followed me home one Saturday morning. He was super friendly and looked like he needed some veterinary care so I decided to be a good human and help him out.  Being new to the area, I just got in my car with kitty and drove down the street looking for an animal hospital.  This is how I found Dr. Gary and I'm sure glad I did. Keep in mind that this was a Saturday morning with no appointment.  I walk in and they are busy.  I explain the situation to the front desk staff and they put me in a waiting room right away saying the vet would be in shortly.  Dr. Gary and his vet tech came in soon and were fantastic.  You can just tell they love animals.  Kitty got a very thorough check up and a few other treatments.  Everything was very reasonably priced!Also, Dr. Gary gave me his cell phone in case of emergencies.  It does not get better than this.  I wound up adopting the kitty and now see Dr. Gary regularly and recommend him to friends. If there were 10 stars to give to Dr. Gary and his staff at Imperial I would. Unfortunately, I can only give a 5 star rating as this is the highest rating Yelp will allow. We started using Imperial about 2 years ago when our beloved dog was 13.5.  They are always professional, the office and boarding facility is immaculately clean and modern. Additionally every staff member is caring and compassionate. They helped guide us through numerous medical conditions and no doubt helped our dog live a better and more comfortable  life. This week our  "Lucky" who was over 15.5 years old was put to rest by Dr Gary and his assistant in the most peaceful and loving way.   We can never thank them enough for their compassion. Anyone that loves their pet will be treated wonderfully and professionally by Dr. Gary and all his staff. I have three dogs, all of them are rescues.  I have been going to the same vet for 10+ years.  Our most recent rescue, Murphy, was saved from being dumped out in the Everglades by an awesome group, 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida, and they suggested that we take Murphy to Dr. Edelson at Imperial Point.  We were a bit hesitant at first because we were so comfortable with our current vet, but the rescue works with Dr. Edelson to help get these rescues proper medical care and prep them for a forever home.When it was time to get Murphy neutered, we took him to Imperial Point to get his bloodworm done first.  We arrived in the morning to a very friendly receptionist who offered me coffee or water.  I had to double check to see where I was... it was a really nice touch.  The facility is VERY clean and felt more like my living room than it did a vets office. It was very relaxing for both me and Murphy. Dr. Edelson came out from the back and we chatted for a while about Murphy's history. He asked a ton of questions and I could tell that he genuinely cared about my dog and took a very holistic approach to Murphy and his health. The whole staff was great and Murphy almost didm;t want to leave with me because he was having so much fun with everyone. I took Murphy back the next day to get neutered (I felt like I was violating guy code).  Again, we were greeted by a very friendly staff as well as Dr. Edelson.  He walked me through the procedure and although I've been down this (simple) road before with 4 previous dogs, Dr. Edelson made me feel extremely comfortable and I've never left a pet behind for a procedure with such comfort and confidence.I received a call shortly after lunch to let me know that Murphy's surgery went great and that I could come back and pick him up later that day.  Again, everyone was great and Murphy made a few friends while he was there. ��They gave Murphy a bath and took great care of him and nothing makes a pet owner happier than knowing their lil furry friend was loved and cared for.  They gave me his meds and very detailed instructions as well as what to expect etc.. Shortly after arriving home I received a phone call from Dr. Edleson personally asking how Murphy was doing and even gave me his cell number just in case.Sometimes you don't realize how mediocre something is until you have a STELLAR experience. That's exactly what happened in this case and I will be taking all 3 of my dogs to Dr. Edelson from now on.  ~ a VERY happy new client Read Less
