Received an email with the discount information for pet medicine. Called the vet and asked if they would honor in office or if I had to order online. I was told that I could come in office and they would honor the discounted meds. Next day got there around 7:30 and not only was I told the wrong information regarding the clinic honoring the discounted meds I was also quoted the wrong price. I have spent a lot of money on my pets’ health care at this office and I am very disappointed how this whole situation has been handled! Looks like I will be looking for another veterinarian. I love this animal hospital!!!!!! Everyone is so friendly and caring!  Dr. Todd spent a lot of time explaining how Chinese medicine and acupuncture worked and I left feeling optimistic that my little pug could live his last days as the happy little guy I've enjoyed for almost 11 years now. There's no cure for what he has but I'll take as many good days as I can get.  This is really the nicest staff and Dr. Todd is very warm and informative. I am giving AHD one star because there is no lower rating.  We brought our beloved yorky  mix to AHD several years ago.  She was  given a courtesy exam for $1.00 and had various tests totaling about $200.  shortly thereafter  we noticed she had bloating.  We brought her back, and they did more tests.  They said she had cushings disease.  They told us that we could put her on medication  but it would require more tests to determine what the medication should be.  She was in intense pain and obviously suffering, and we felt she should be euthanized.  Also, AHD was breaking our bank with all of the testing they we doing, which always seemed to require MORE TESTING.  We had our beloved friend euthanized, and paid almost two hundred for :"Cremation and Return of Ashes" almost a hundred for "Euthenasia Services"  (read this--insert a needle into her tiny little body)  and over $40 dollars for " Beuthenasia".The bill began with payment method and amount, and then, I think rather coldly, the next line said "Sorry for your loss"--The net price for that phrase was $0.00, duly noted on the bill..  A total of $800.  We will go to the SPCA or some place that genuinely cares next time.  They are in it for the money, not for compassion.  Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees. I have 3 rescued dogs, 2 rescued cats.  We just moved to this area a couple of months ago.  I have been one by one taking my pets for their $1 New Patient Exam.  Dr. Matthews saw one dog and one cat - and I walked out of there with, indeed the $1 fee for the dog, basically because she was up to date on everything concerning her shots and her diabetes with her prior vet.  The cat - we had a $54 bill, which included the $1 free exam,  for steroid shot and prednisolone syrup for a leg that she was limping on, but no apparent fracture.  However, when I took the other two dogs yesterday, I left having paid a whopping $300 for lab work - fecal and heart worm for both and then full bloodwork for one dog who needs a dental cleaning.  I was given a $659 estimate by Dr. Vasse - which took her forever to print up, by the way - guess she looked up every single charge she could throw at me - for a dental cleaning and two or three teeth extractions.  I find the office assistants clueless.  it takes too long to check out.  Seems they can never find a chart.  And they have a hard time reading the doctors' calendars.  My very nice dogs were visiting a new vet, in a new town, new clinic.  It was taking me more effort than usual to get them to stop barking when this big burly guy came into the office with his small dog.  Mind you, I had both of my dogs tightly on leash and we were not in his space.  His dog was barking too.  He wasted no time in declaring to the room that he couldn't stand people who couldn't control their dogs, and started to step back outside - total attitude.  I told him in no uncertain terms what he could do and we volleyed back and forth two or three times, with the office assistants making no efforts to intervene.  Only after my visit and I was at the check-out paying my $300 did they apologize for that patron being out of line with his instigating insult. Being new to the area, we had not found a vet yet and were in a panic when our 4 yr old Belgian Malinois hurt her foot playing ball. The receptionist I spoke with was extremely understanding and professional and said even though they were booked up, they would absolutely work us in. Dr. Vasse, along with the entire staff, was very professional, patient and caring with us and our Diva. We were treated like we had been going there for years. Vet care was top-notch and well-explained. Our dog is not the easiest and they knew just how to handle her and treat her which made us feel very comfortable as well. I love it here! every time I come in all my pets are greeted by name with lots of love and the ones not present are always asked about. I have always been heard when I had different more holistic ways of my pets being treated and they were treated accordingly. They understand I may not have money to do expensive tests and have been honest with giving me the cheaper way out and still being safe. I have never felt rushed like I have at other places. I came to AHOD after hearing about Dr. B who had recently joined the staff at this hospital bringing not only his expertise in acupuncture but also his vast knowledge of Chinese & Holistic Medicines. My little girl had just been diagnosed with Cancer again and Dr. B was able to give her so much Relief that she was able to enjoy a good quality of life until she passed. Unfortunately, her Father and Mother fell victim to cancer as well but once again, with Dr. B's help both were able To live fully functioning good quality lives right up until the very end with his acupuncture treatments and Medicines. We also had an opportunity to get them both Ozone Treatments from Dr. C who is a wonderful and compassionate doctor as well. And the prices for acupuncture treatments and medicines were very reasonable. Even though these 3 loved ones have passed I have not left AHOD and will continue to stay with these wonderful caring professionals throughout the course of my two new puppies lives. Dog Killers!We are new to the area. This vet was recommended to us. Our dog was hacking and we wanted to know why. Took her in on a Saturday, medicine was prescribed. Took her back on Wednesday after noon, different medicine was prescribed. Saw two different vets. Both said our dog's heart and lungs sounded fine. Less than four hours after our 2nd visit our dog DIED of congestive heart failure. She was only 8 years old. Really? They couldn't tell something was wrong? Can you sue a vet for malpractice?
