I have previously left a good review on Google as my experience with you started out well. However, when it came time to send ALL of the test results, THAT I PAID FOR, this facility would only take a picture of an ultrasound that they had done on my dog and email it to ME, NOT MY VET WHO REQUESTED IT! My dog had to go through this PAINFUL PROCEDURE AGAIN, not to mention the cost and, even worse, you said my dog had a tumor and sent me out in tears! In the end, THEIR DIAGNOSIS WAS TOTALLY INACCURATE! Your receptionist was very rude to my vets receptionist when she called for his records, AGAIN! You then called me and told me that she was rude to you. Little did you know,  I was standing right next to her during the entire phone call! I was seriously contemplating disputing this entire charge on my credit card but I am happy that MY VET, Community Veterinary Hospital of Largo, tested and concluded that my dog DOES NOT have a tumor! To ANYONE WHO NEEDS AN EXCELLENT VETERINARIAN, PLS GO TO: COMMUNITY VETERINARY HOSPITAL in Largo. PHONE: 727-585-2007  I gave you 1 star because I couldn't leave you a ZERO, or I definitely would have done so! Read Less

I brought my dog in for exam, due to anorexia and no deification in 48 hours. He was seen and determined to have a urethral and cystic calculo. He was catheterized with removal of 600 ml of urine. He is a 9 yr old mini schnauzer. Outcome was a recommended 2000-7000 dollar surgery to remove the stones. Or euthanasia for 131 dollars. I had had a heart worm test done as well. Vet said I could take him home to think about it. I asked the tech if I could get some Bravecto to take home. She stated that I'd have to sign a, AMA form to take him home. And, no I can't get any Bravecto. I feel this exchange was unprofessional. An odd way of treating an ill dog; she dragged the dog across the floor, then decided to pick him up, since I was standing there watching. I would not recommend this facility, Dunedin Animal Medical Clinic to anyone. Take your significant (Animal) loved one elsewhere. Read Less

I took my dog Jack for an initial exam and a rabies shot yesterday and was very pleased with our visit!   Everyone was very nice, Dr Branham was the vet and Jennifer was the tech.  I was supposed to bring his shot records (they had informed me of this when I made the appt)  and I forgot them so they waited patiently for some time for me to call our previous vet to verify his records.  I asked about other immunizations and flea and tick treatments and they gave me all the information without any pressure to purchase anything.   I ended up only purchasing the one year rabies at a very reasonable price. They were very nice to my dog and they gave him peanut butter which he loved.   I didn't read other reviews before my visit and I'm glad I didn't.  One of the first things I noticed was how clean the place was so I'm not sure about previous posts about the place not being clean, it is Very clean!  After my appt I asked to see the boarding area, which was very clean also.  Amber was the girl that showed me the boarding area and she was very nice.  I would definitely go back.    Before I left I asked for all their names so I could leave a review, I don't normally just remember the name of everyone in an office : ) Read Less

I have visited this clnic multiple times with two sick dogs (diarrhea) over the past 2 weeks. On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving I was there with one of my dogs because his symptoms continued. The vet suggested I cancel my out of town trip and bring him in the next morning for an IV of fluids and repeat x-rays. The tech printed a copy of the suggested plan for me and told me to drop my dog off anytime after 8am the next day. I dropped my dog off at 8 as recommended and asked that in addition to the IV fluids and x-ray they add a blood test. They had me sign a consent form that I was consenting to treatment. By 10am my other dog was sick, so I called the clinic. I explained my one dog was there. The lady that answered the phone quickly responded, “He isn’t here”. At that point I drove to the office. Of course, he WAS there . . . Moving on, I knew the clinic closed at 8p so at 5p when I hadn’t heard from anyone I called. I asked if my dog was ready and they told me to come over in about 20 minutes. When I went over, I was told he had not received an IV, fluids or any x-rays! The ONLY thing they had done was the blood test I requested. I was clearly furious and left very upset! My dog had been sick for two weeks, it was now the night before Thanksgiving and I was following vet orders by bringing him in. Around 8pm the vet that was working called me to tell me the results of the blood test. He also told me he was told I refused any treatment and that is why my dog sat there all day without an IV, fluids or x-rays. Really?? Why would I drop my dog off only to refuse his treatment?? AND I signed for treatment! The Monday after the holiday weekend I called the office and asked to speak to the office manager and requested a copy of all of my dogs’ records (as I will not be going back). Hours later I received a call from a gentleman. He told me he, “worked in the back” and the manger wasn’t available. I asked if the manager could call me and he said he would try to help. I started going through why I was unhappy – clearly getting more upset as I continued to tell my story. He then interrupted me to tell me, “he wasn’t a flunky he owned the damn place!”. Really? Was it necessary to hide that from the beginning and to be rude in telling me? What was the point? I wanted to speak to someone in charge, of course I would be happy to speak to an owner – had I known I was speaking to the owner. I am appalled by the whole situation but especially the way my dog was treated. It is only speculation of course, but after I brought him home that night he immediately ran to the bathroom and then drank and drank water. I can only assume his needs were minimally met at best for the 11 hours he spent in a cage receiving NO TREATMENT! Wouldn’t it make sense to call me, the owner, and ask why he was there if you thought he wasn’t getting any treatment? The entire day was a ridiculous mess. My two-week experience with this clinic was disappointing at best. I will never return to this place - especially when there are simply amazing vets like Chris F, DVM and Kevin A, DVM so close. I wanted to love this place because it was so close to home but all I got for two weeks of diarrhea was a $2,000 credit card bill and a tremendous amount of heartache when it turns out a $10 antibiotic rx cleared up all their symptoms in 24 hours. Ridiculous. Read Less

If I could give this vet zero stars I would.  Took my dog here two times.  My dog is fearful of the vet and has high anxiety when we go.  The first visit is for an annual check up.   The vet tech comes in talks to me and can see my dog is scared but not aggressive(at this point).  She leaves and we wait about 25 minutes for the vet to come in and start the exam.  They weigh him and attempt to start the exam.  My dog becomes aggressive so they attempt to muzzle him but they do not tighten it enough so he is still able to open his mouth slightly.  They take him to the back and get nothing more accomplished.  They prescribe a sedative for the next visit.  I give him the drugs exactly as prescribed and take him back a couple of days later.  On the second visit them manage to give him one shot and tell me if I want to have anymore work done I would need to put him to sleep.  So put the dog under to draw blood!! I decided to take him to an older more experienced  vet and the entire annual exam was completed in less than 20 minutes with a muzzle.  I would not recommend this vet to anyone!! Read Less

He really knows customer service. However- I boarded my babies for a few days in March. One of them came home with an infection on her foot from a laceration as well as a scuff mark on her nose. Not only was there no explanation or apology, they charged me for additional services to make her better. THEN I had to go to a vet hospital for her care when they opened on Monday. If you want your fur babies neglected and injured- board here. Otherwise I’d recommend you look elsewhere. Read Less

Honestly, I used to like this place but all the vet staff has changed.  Seems like everyone is hired right out of vet school. last time after paying for an exam for my dog they didn't even listen to her heartbeat! when my mom brought her dog which is a Rottweiler, the vet was very scared and it took 20 minutes for her to just warm up to the dog after feeding her and almost entire bag of treats! my mom's dog is big teddy bear and she's ten years old!  now if you make an appointment plan on spending the majority of your day or night there because you will wait in the room for 45 minutes to an hour before you even get seen. I get frustrated and I go out to the lobby and ask how much longer it's going to be? and every single time I'm told there's an emergency! Can't recommend this place enough. I was checked in and seen inside of 10 minutes. Tech came in after about 5 and the doctor after about 20. Totally normal for a medical facility. Actually very quick in my experience. I've always been super weird about vets. I worry a lot about how my dog is being cared for and this has been a great experience. Polite, friendly staff who focuses on just accomplishing what you're there to do. Literally no complaints. Total bill was under 250$ for a pretty badly infected ear. Everything on the bill was what I expected. I think a lot of people who review places like this just don't understand cost of service. I've worked on farms and with animals a lot in my life and this place is absolutely reasonable. Better than reasonable to be honest. There was no pressure to spend anything else, to purchase additional services, no criticism about how I care for my dog, no awkward questions about his day to day health or activity, no assertions that I don't run him enough or feed him too much. To be fair my dog is in good health but I've been to vets that clearly feel it's their personal responsibility to review the owner as much if not more than the animal. My dog was super difficult about weighing and the ear exam and they were very professional and patient. Read Less

I came here once with a new adopted cat. It was an ok basic visit but after three visits the vet couldn't figure out why the cats lip was swollen and treatment wasn't working.  It went away on its own. A waste of money but whatever, vets are human too.  I came back several months later with same cat who is fear-aggressive. He needed annual shots and to have his belly shaved due to mats. I told them I had been bitten and scratched trying to get him in the carrier, but he had calmed down and could be handled and sedated. The tech wouldn't touch him because he had a slight smear of my blood on his shoulder (I guess the office has not a single pair of nitrile gloves?) never brought the vet back, and played telephone between the Dr and me saying they cant see him all riled up. (He was calm by now).  She gave me oral sedatives and said come back tomorrow. So I spent the next 12 hours with the poor cat sequestered in the bathroom scared.  He wouldn't take the pill ground up in food even after not eating for 24 hours, and I didn't have enough hands to hold him and do it manually without being bitten and scratched again, though I tried. But the next morning I calmly got him in the carrier and off we went. A new tech got the full story, set up the procedures and went to have me sign off consent when they FINALLY realized that you can't treat a cat in any way that has bitten anyone due to possible rabies (county law). So I had kept the poor thing scared and hungry and alone for an extra 12 hours plus the trip to the vet again before they realized they couldn't have seen him anyway for at least ten days. They KNEW a bite had a happened the day before. The lack of brain power is astounding. And I never even saw an actual vet because they don't deign to talk to you unless it's for an actual procedure apparently. The techs aren't using their full capabilities if they didn't put 2 and 2 together (bites=no treatment) so they wasted my time and energy and I had to keep the cat on edge and stressed for an extra 12+ hours. I'm done with this place.  The convenient hours aren't worth it and now it'll be months before I can attempt to get my cat treated for anything. Read Less

I have brought my cat here on a few different occasions since adopting him last May. The staff is so friendly and caring. They call the animals "babies" or "kids" and refer to the humans as "mom and dad" which I think is adorable. They have always handled my cat with care and gentleness and talk to him to soothe him as he gets a little nervous being there. The prices of services I have so far needed seem reasonable compared to a few other places I called around before visiting Dunedin Animal Center. I also chose this vet because of their extended hours and being opened on weekends. Since pets tend to get sick on a non 9-5 schedule, it's nice to know if I need them, Dunedin Animal Center will be there. They also provided me with information for local 24/7 hospitals should I ever need it. Overall our experiences have been very pleasant and I wish that I could get my own medical care here! I liked it upon my initial visits when my cat was diagnosed with kidney disease. During this time we were there for over an hour and my cat was diagnosed with high blood pressure which was inline with kidney disease diagnosis. She was prescribed medication for high blood pressure which adversely affected her. All indications pointed that she was stressed and had high blood pressure due to the vet visit. When I asked about kidney disease progression they told me that the next thing would be loss of appetite and regurgitating. When this happened four months later they would not prescribe her any medication without a vet visit although I explained the high blood pressure problem.. They told me that to care for the patient they needed to see her although her blood pressure was where she could have had a stroke at any minute. Unfortunately I now believe they're in it for the money and do not care about the care of the patient. Very disheartening!Read Less

Wonderful place the staff treats your pets like family. Despite some of the reviews on here their prices are not unjust. In most cases it is a price bundle that not only includes the surgery but includes, pre examination, pre blood work, the surgery, anesthesia, pain medication and follow up visits. They also give you a follow up call the next day of ANY service your pet has had to make sure your animal is doing well. Very lively and young staff which is a breath of fresh air in a moderately older generation town. The staff actually enjoys what they do and have passion for the animals and their career. I take all 5 of my pets here. In most cases it's usually the owner that's the issue, not the staff. I absolutely love them and highly recommend them! Read Less

Never ever take your pet to this terrible place , I took my dog for an evaluation for dental surgery . The pet vet was uninformed and condesending to say the least. The vet came looked in my dogs mouth for all of 10 seconds ,said he needed extractions ,I knew he had an infection so I inquired about antibiotics was told they only do that for people not dogs . The vet then went to write up an estimate came back with $2,400.00 and removal of 28 teeth. I had allowed them to do blood work and was charged 80.00 paid that and left to get another opinion . I told the new vet the blood work had been done and we requested it.They put my dog on antibiotics and pain meds for 7 days before surgery .Yesterday he had his surgery and we still were fighting to get the lab results from Dunedin Animal center ,At last they faxed them my dog had 13 extractions . teeth cleaned and was treated like a king , my cost was $787.00 This was done at Westlake Animal Hospital in Tarpon Springs the vet Dr Hassel was kind and compassionate , the vet techs. were wonderful and very informed I was given a tour of the hospital and it was spotless animals were under the watch of 2 or 3 techs. Today my dog is already acting like his old self.Read Less

Update: I am always happy they have a place for our "Charlie". We had to leave town on short notice and a quick call determined they had room to board her while we would be gone. They are always friendly, accommodating and provide great service. Previously: We were new to the area and looking for a place to kennel our dog. She had never been kenneled before and we wanted to make sure we were sending her somewhere we knew she would be well cared for. I stopped in one day to check it out and asked to see the kennel facilities. They were happy to show me the kennels where she would stay and the area the dogs "do their business". They happily answered all my questions and gave great information. We have used their kennel services about 4 times in the last 9 months and our dog goes happily each and every time. The staff is friendly, especially Daniel who I have interacted with numerous times. Their hours are very convenient and I always know how much the stay for my dog will be upon booking. We will continue to use their services happily!! Read Less

The worst place I have ever been to vet wise. Brought my dog in Saturday with a dog bite they acted like it was no big deal. Didn't show any rush to help my dog. Because it was my only option in an emergency I wait they did surgery charged me out the ass. $1,700 for 3 drains and an X-ray. Then had to take her to a different emergency vet after this visit. They included taking the drains out in the bill so I returned to get them out and was treated like shit. My dog started swelling on the way to the vet. They told me to go to another place because they couldn't do anything. I left and went to an amazing vet blue pearl and they took the drains all that needed to be done for the most part. They just didn't want to take the time for something they were supposed to do. I wouldn't never take your animals here in any kinda of emergency. They are a very slow paced vet do not work well at all under any pressure.Read Less

Read Less

Not sure what the deal is with this place but I was quoted over $1500 to remove a simple growth of some kind from between my dog's toes and was told it could go higher than that. I suspect that this practice is owned by someone who is purely in it for the money and their goal is to cheat every customer out of as much money as is possible. I will never step foot in this place again. When did vets become such greedy jerks?? Read Less

Horiible. I have overlooked a lot of things at this facility- the long wait times with the vet services, the over charging. Mostly because they have one fantastic employee- Danny.

What a coincidence it is that every single time I come there's an emergency, wow! I'd rather spend an extra $20 and go to a different vet. Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone Read Less

I was once extremely happy with this clinic but unfortunately the clinic has been on a steady decline over the past few years. The appointment wait times are always extremely long. The clinic is continually losing and gaining new vets. I've never been able to see the physician that I actually scheduled the appointment with. I've sat in exam rooms for over 45 minutes with no communication from staff. The only nice thing I can say about this Clinic is that their prices have always remained reasonable. However it's not enough to keep me as a customer. Read Less

Literally no complaints. Total bill was 200.00. That's office visit, blood work, nail clippings, and rabies shot. So Happy we found these guys. Saved me hundreds over the other mainstream vets.

Read Less

My german shepherd got so bad during storms he literally tore down the siding of my metal shed, tore a hole in our door, ripped his paw open, broke his canine teeth and nothing would help, calls after calls were made but no one could help. I could not leave him inside or outside. I found Dunedin Animal Med. and was ready to put him down. The vet went to great length to listen and gave us hope by giving him Xanax plus I was able to bring him for "day care". Due to their hours, I was able to bring him before going to work and picked him up after work. It worked beautifully. Thanks for such a great group of people there who have a lot of compassion and truly care about what our animals mean to us. Now I can have peace of mind!

They are much more caring than many human doctors I have visited! Read Less
