My dog has a tumor they MISDIAGNOSED!!!!!!!!
Where do I begin with my dissatisfaction and disappointment with this practice. I brought my dog into their office for a mass on his ear last month. Btw he is a boxer. Super friendly and a huge baby.
I have a 5 year old who still was hugging him near his ear & never one issue. They tried to charge me $150 for miscellaneous medicine that the tech couldn’t explain. Instead of focusing on my concern for the mass they were more concerned in just getting all the money they could and treating his allergies that he takes apoquel for.
They muzzled my dog to take his blood without my consent when they could have asked me to hold his head like so the other times. I overheard the tech say he is one of those dogs. At that point I should have busted in grabbed him and walked out but I couldn’t get him anywhere until the next day. Hind sight he would have been fine the next day but I just got home from burying my grandpa and the Mass was infected and smelly. I was holding onto faith they would be honest. I thought they did a needle aspirate to see what the tumor was. No. All they did was tell me he has an ear infection and call me with a $1200 quote for surgery.
So I called asking how can you just recommend surgery when we don’t know it is. They brought us back in for a free visit with another dr. From the vet start I felt like they were just telling me what I wanted to hear. The dr didn’t have a syringe behind the needle when he acted like he looked at the sample under the microscope. Regardless he came back in and said it’s probably a cyst and to keep an eye on the area. Problem is it’s not one bump. More and more are growing. It’s invasive.
I drove over 100 miles to take him back to his original vet. I moved here almost 2 years ago & haven’t found a proper vet. My vet said my dog has a ROUND CELL TUMOR.
these people took over $400 from me and DELAYED treatment to an 8 yr old sweet boxer. He should have been out on prednisone and stopped the apoquel not change to a cytopoint injection like they tried. This is my son and I want him happy and healthy. I am so appalled by this office. I called them on Friday after I found out and I have yet to receive a phone call back.
These people only care about money and not the animals clearly. My heart breaks that I have to write this but my boy deserved far better treatment than what your office provided. 🙌

I am writing this review because I lost my beloved 15 year old cat May 9, 2020 after being in the care of Dr. Herrington, Englewood Animal Health Center 1830 Placida Rd. Placida, FL 34223. I do not know exactly how he died or what caused his horrible death.
He was given a shot for “wheezing” as the Dr. described it on May 8, 2020. Since this was during the covid restrictions I was forced to stay in my car and could not oversee anything. After his appointment the Dr. called me to tell me he was given a shot to help his wheezing along with a B12 vitamin shot and fluid hydration. He did not indicate there was anything to be overly concerned about.
I got him home by 3:15 p.m.and all was fine. He drank and ate as usual. On the morning of May 9, he was struggling with breathing. I called the office at 7:00 a.m. asking for the Dr. and was told he would be in at 8:00 a.m. I asked the receptionist to have him call me immediately because my cat was in distress. He called back a few minutes after 8:00 a.m. and told me he was totally booked up but if I would bring him in at 10:45 he had a few minutes and could euthanize him. I was in total shock. The day before he chatted and did not give me ANY indication my cat was in dire condition. I told him it was an emergency. Surely I could bring him in. He was cold and almost rude and said the only thing he could do was that. I was in total shock and pleaded with him. He told me the emergency vet in Pt. Charlotte was open so I could take him there. I hung up, put my cat in his cage and headed to Pt. Charlotte which was another 45 minutes away from me. AS I arrived in their parking lot he struggled with his last breath and then died in my arms. He might have survived IF he had been helped immediately.
After researching the medication he was given I discovered he was probably allergic to the shot and died because of it. I also noted on my paperwork that they had entered the wrong weight for him at 10.88 pounds. He only weighed 9.2 at best and might have been given too much of the antibiotic. The Dr. to me is deplorable and was insensitive to my cat’s life. I have never known a vet that would not squeeze in an animal in an emergency situation above all else. Of course this was a Saturday morning and he probably had something fun planned for the afternoon and taking care of my cat was at the bottom of his list.
Beware of this Dr. if you love your pet as much as I loved mine. As of this date, I am still grieving and in distress because of his inaction.

A wonderful Vetinairy office. Wonderful staff. There very kind, gentle, and caring. I like doctor Mike. Out of all the vets through the years in other places. He seems to be the most caring, and kind to my animals. And they don't try and talk you in to getting stuff for your animal that you don't really need.

This veterinary clinic is professional and compassionate which is the perfect combination for my pets medical care. I agree it can be painfully expensive at times but not more than other clinics and they will always discuss other options and take the time to listen to your concerns and answer any questions. I've never felt pressured to do more than what's needed. My cat has serious medical challenges and their care has made a positive improvement her health and wellbeing. I seem to really care and that means the world to me. I feel grateful for the whole staff from the receptionist to the techs and the veterinarians. They are all exceptional as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely wonderful experience with Dr. Mike and staff. They were incredibly friendly and helpful and even able to get my dog in earlier than expected. The office is very clean and nice. Dr. Mike was so friendly and knowledgeable and treated my dog with care and respect and reassured me that he was going to be ok. And I was pleasantly surprised by the cost, I had been bracing myself for much more. Thank you to everyone at Englewood Animal Health Center.

Their online store was going to charge me over $200 with a discount for heart guard that I got at Chewy for $49 with shipping. I think I'll find another clinic.

I have found this animal heath center to be excellent both with care and costs. Unfortunately unless you have health insurance for your pet, just like a human patient, no insurance, good luck. I no longer have insurance and have been given the same good service at their very best costs. My dog (Indy) was given only approx. 2 weeks to live in Feb 2018 ( by Bluepearl Animal services, located in Sarasota). He is lying at my feet while I type this letter.. long may his health continue! I am so sorry for the person who complained about the staff at this health center. I know when the love of your life is in critical danger, emotions can run very high. I have always found this staff to be excellent, extremely caring, respectful and always willing to go that extra mile for you and your loved one.Roy Cooper (and INDY)

We recently moved to the area, and hadn't yet chosen a vet for our dog, Daisy. When she came down with what seemed like a UTI, I needed a vet right away. I chose Englewood Animal Health Center because they were close and could see her right then (other places I called couldn't see her at all today).
When we arrived they brought us right back to an exam room, as they could tell how anxious Daisy was. That impressed me from the start. Then they took a complete history and the vet did a thorough exam. They decided to ship her specimen out for a culture, but started her on cipro right away. I was given several suggestions to help get her feeling better, and to prevent future UTIs from occuring (as she may be more susceptible due to a prior injury).
All said, I was very pleased with the way Daisy was handled and treated; not only was the visit thorough, but the staff was kind and loving to my little one. Additionally, every area that we were in was spacious, well appointed, and very clean. I will be returning to this office for Daisy's regular veterinary care, and I can highly recommend them to others.
UPDATE: It's been almost a week, and I am amazed at the follow up they have been giving Daisy: I received a call from the vet the following morning (the vet called personally, not a tech or other staff). She gave me the results of the urinalysis, told me the medication that was prescribed was definitely needed and appropriate, and that I should bring in a specimen once she finishes the antibiotic to make sure the infection has cleared up. I really appreciated the call, the concern, and the fact that the vet only asked for a follow-up specimen rather than an additional office visit.
Then today I received another call from their office, just checking on Daisy's progress. They wanted to make sure she was feeling better... And I feel as though I've found a gem for a new veterinarian!!!
Tomorrow I am taking Daisy to their groomer. Watch for my separate review on that front. 😊

We are Canadians on holidays and went to the center as walk-ins. We were greeted with smiles and efficiency. Our little yorkie had a huge tick and it was dealt with within a few minutes. The vet checked both our fur babies. We can tell you that the service was outstanding, we were informed on what to look for and were provided appropriate preventative treatment. We would recommend this center to everyone!

I would like to take the time to share my experience, especially with the way that this office and their staff treat their customers. The ladies who answer the telephones have no respect and don't care about the job they are doing. We had an issue with our dog's heart warm prescription, and were told by Carly to go to a certain website to order the prescription because the office discontinued the specific brand we use. As I was told, I went online to order the prescription, and was NOT told that I needed to submit a fecal test in order to receive this prescription. I received an email that the order was denied by the vet's office, and it did not include a reason why the medication was not filled. When I called the office to find out more information as to why it was denied, the lady who answered phone so abruptly, stated that she denied it because our dog needed a fecal test, which again I was not informed about. My dog already had a heart warm test last March, which is suppose to be good for 12 months. I then asked to speak to the vet himself. He finally got on the phone and confirmed that this was the policy and that our dog needed a fecal test in order to get this medication. It is very unfortunate that I was not informed about this policy back in March, as well I was not informed about it when I called a week ago. Additionally, the lady from the office who denied the approval from the medication did not even bother to call or notify us about this. It seems like they need to work on their communication skills as an office. Once again, it is very unfortunate that this all ended like this, and will be directly affecting my dog because we will be changing vets.

I have been going to Englewood Animal Health Center for years. The clinic itself is very clean and well organized. Dr. Cheryl Adams and all the technicians I have met are so loving & caring with my animals. My dog, Brandy, is 13 years old and they all give her so much attention, pets & TREATS!! My cat, Bling, is 9 years old and they were also awesome with him. The costs are extremely reasonable and they do not try to push procedures or tests on you that are not necessary. Dr. Adams will tell you if it is necessary or a suggestion that is my decision to make. I was just there with Brandy on 8/19/15 and I now have a decision to make on whether to have a "thing" (I don't remember what it is called!) removed from her back leg which requires surgery. Dr. Adams explained all of the options and consequences of the options. Yvette is my new FB friend as we share such a love for animals! She came in several times just to give Brandy pets!! I can't say enough good things about them!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Englewood Animal Health Center!!!

We rescued a dog last year and in need of a vet for her lifetime care. I interviewed several vets in the area and the moment I walked through the doors of the Englewood Animal Health Center I knew immediately this was the place for us.
Yvette and Dana are the backbone of the front reception area and their professional mannerism along with the obvious love they show for each individual animal is so warm and comforting. Their smiles and friendly personalities and attention to your pet makes you feel like you€re the only one there.
Renee and Dr. Cheryl Adams just are the best. I think what I love the most -- besides the thorough exams, explanations, care, honesty and concern for the health of my dog -- is they sit on the floor with Gypsy (she€s 80 pounds) and we talk at that level.
I recommend Englewood Animal Health Center to everyone I know who needs vet care.

I also noted on my paperwork that they had entered the wrong weight for him at 10.88 pounds. He only weighed 9.2 at best and might have been given too much of the antibiotic. The Dr. to me is deplorable and was insensitive to my cat’s life. I have never known a vet that would not squeeze in an animal in an emergency situation above all else. Of course this was a Saturday morning and he probably had something fun planned for the afternoon and taking care of my cat was at the bottom of his list.
Beware of this Dr. if you love your pet as much as I loved mine. As of this date, I am still grieving and in distress because of his inaction.

A wonderful Vetinairy office. Wonderful staff. There very kind, gentle, and caring. I like doctor Mike. Out of all the vets through the years in other places. He seems to be the most caring, and kind to my animals. And they don't try and talk you in to getting stuff for your animal that you don't really need.

This veterinary clinic is professional and compassionate which is the perfect combination for my pets medical care. I agree it can be painfully expensive at times but not more than other clinics and they will always discuss other options and take the time to listen to your concerns and answer any questions. I've never felt pressured to do more than what's needed. My cat has serious medical challenges and their care has made a positive improvement her health and wellbeing. I seem to really care and that means the world to me. I feel grateful for the whole staff from the receptionist to the techs and the veterinarians. They are all exceptional as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely wonderful experience with Dr. Mike and staff. They were incredibly friendly and helpful and even able to get my dog in earlier than expected. The office is very clean and nice. Dr. Mike was so friendly and knowledgeable and treated my dog with care and respect and reassured me that he was going to be ok. Their online store was going to charge me over $200 with a discount for heart guard that I got at Chewy for $49 with shipping. I think I'll find another clinic.

I have found this animal heath center to be excellent both with care and costs. Unfortunately unless you have health insurance for your pet, just like a human patient, no insurance, good luck. I no longer have insurance and have been given the same good service at their very best costs. My dog (Indy) was given only approx. 2 weeks to live in Feb 2018 ( by Bluepearl Animal services, located in Sarasota). He is lying at my feet while I type this letter.. long may his health continue! I am so sorry for the person who complained about the staff at this health center. I know when the love of your life is in critical danger, emotions can run very high. I have always found this staff to be excellent, extremely caring, respectful and always willing to go that extra mile for you and your loved one.Roy Cooper (and INDY)

We recently moved to the area, and hadn't yet chosen a vet for our dog, Daisy. When she came down with what seemed like a UTI, I needed a vet right away. I chose Englewood Animal Health Center because they were close and could see her right then (other places I called couldn't see her at all today).
When we arrived they brought us right back to an exam room, as they could tell how anxious Daisy was. That impressed me from the start. Then they took a complete history and the vet did a thorough exam. They decided to ship her specimen out for a culture, but started her on cipro right away. I was given several suggestions to help get her feeling better, and to prevent future UTIs from occuring (as she may be more susceptible due to a prior injury).
All said, I was very pleased with the way Daisy was handled and treated; not only was the visit thorough, but the staff was kind and loving to my little one. Additionally, every area that we were in was spacious, well appointed, and very clean. I will be returning to this office for Daisy's regular veterinary care, and I can highly recommend them to others.
UPDATE: It's been almost a week, and I am amazed at the follow up they have been giving Daisy: I received a call from the vet the following morning (the vet called personally, not a tech or other staff). She gave me the results of the urinalysis, told me the medication that was prescribed was definitely needed and appropriate, and that I should bring in a specimen once she finishes the antibiotic to make sure the infection has cleared up. I really appreciated the call, the concern, and the fact that the vet only asked for a follow-up specimen rather than an additional office visit.
Then today I received another call from their office, just checking on Daisy's progress. They wanted to make sure she was feeling better... And I feel as though I've found a gem for a new veterinarian!!!
Tomorrow I am taking Daisy to their groomer. Watch for my separate review on that front. 😊

We are Canadians on holidays and went to the center as walk-ins. We were greeted with smiles and efficiency. Our little yorkie had a huge tick and it was dealt with within a few minutes. The vet checked both our fur babies. We can tell you that the service was outstanding, we were informed on what to look for and were provided appropriate preventative treatment. We would recommend this center to everyone!

I would like to take the time to share my experience, especially with the way that this office and their staff treat their customers. The ladies who answer the telephones have no respect and don't care about the job they are doing. We had an issue with our dog's heart warm prescription, and were told by Carly to go to a certain website to order the prescription because the office discontinued the specific brand we use. As I was told, I went online to order the prescription, and was NOT told that I needed to submit a fecal test in order to receive this prescription. I received an email that the order was denied by the vet's office, and it did not include a reason why the medication was not filled. When I called the office to find out more information as to why it was denied, the lady who answered phone so abruptly, stated that she denied it because our dog needed a fecal test, which again I was not informed about. My dog already had a heart warm test last March, which is suppose to be good for 12 months. I then asked to speak to the vet himself. He finally got on the phone and confirmed that this was the policy and that our dog needed a fecal test in order to get this medication. It is very unfortunate that I was not informed about this policy back in March, as well I was not informed about it when I called a week ago. Additionally, the lady from the office who denied the approval from the medication did not even bother to call or notify us about this. It seems like they need to work on their communication skills as an office. Once again, it is very unfortunate that this all ended like this, and will be directly affecting my dog because we will be changing vets.

I have been going to Englewood Animal Health Center for years. The clinic itself is very clean and well organized. Dr. Cheryl Adams and all the technicians I have met are so loving & caring with my animals. My dog, Brandy, is 13 years old and they all give her so much attention, pets & TREATS!! My cat, Bling, is 9 years old and they were also awesome with him. The costs are extremely reasonable and they do not try to push procedures or tests on you that are not necessary. Dr. Adams will tell you if it is necessary or a suggestion that is my decision to make. I was just there with Brandy on 8/19/15 and I now have a decision to make on whether to have a "thing" (I don't remember what it is called!) removed from her back leg which requires surgery. Dr. Adams explained all of the options and consequences of the options. Yvette is my new FB friend as we share such a love for animals! She came in several times just to give Brandy pets!! I can't say enough good things about them!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Englewood Animal Health Center!!!

We rescued a dog last year and in need of a vet for her lifetime care. I interviewed several vets in the area and the moment I walked through the doors of the Englewood Animal Health Center I knew immediately this was the place for us.
Yvette and Dana are the backbone of the front reception area and their professional mannerism along with the obvious love they show for each individual animal is so warm and comforting. Their smiles and friendly personalities and attention to your pet makes you feel like you€re the only one there.
Renee and Dr. Cheryl Adams just are the best. I think what I love the most -- besides the thorough exams, explanations, care, honesty and concern for the health of my dog -- is they sit on the floor with Gypsy (she€s 80 pounds) and we talk at that level.
I recommend Englewood Animal Health Center to everyone I know who needs vet care.
