I had a horrible experience with this pet hospital and I downloaded yelp just to write this review. I have a plan with them and when my golden retriever had a hematoma on her head, we took her there (since we have a plan with them) to get it checked out before we knew what it was so we could treat it. My boyfriend suggested to the doctor that it was a hematoma and he replied with, "I honestly don't know what it is, but it's not a hematoma" and left it at that with no further research. We had a feeling that it wasn't just "nothing" so we took her to another place where they quickly knew that it was a hematoma and treated it right away. The doctors and most of the other staff at this particular banfield seem to be lazy and not motivated to help their patients. There are SEVERAL incidences where I had questions for the doctor during the posted hours of operation for the hospital and the front desk told me the doctor has "stepped out for the day". They are very very very un reliable and not eager to help. NOT ALL banfield hospitals are bad, I have friends that go to banfield hospitals in further locations from me who have AMAZING experiences because the staff is motivated to help and are very kind. it's only the staff at Banfield hospital located in coconut point mall. I hope to speak to corporate to remove my plan with them. Read Less

BEWARE!!! I thought this place was ideal for my pet situation as they offer they wellness plans where you can pay monthly and supposedly "SAVE" on the required vaccinations and office visits each year. What they don't tell you, is that if you decide to cancel? You have to pay the balance for the wellness plan upfront. For example, I signed my cats up in February. I received TERRIBLE service and hidden fees every time I brought them in for anything. I decided to call and cancel. They told me I had to pay up to FEB of NEXT YEAR in full or I cannot opt our of the monthly auto payment. Read the fine print. Banfield also has rotating vets, so do not expect any familiarity with your individual pet from a specific vet. Oh and if you get your pet neutered through the wellness plan? They will make you pay for the pain meds and the REQUIRED CONE separate. Place is a joke. Read Less

It's sad how ONE employee can make a customer have such a negative perspective on a business. Several conversations with this one employee have made me question whether or not I wanted to come back to Banfield but I usually just brushed them off. Today however was a different story, and I have had enough. Checking my dog into his appointment there were two others dog parents waiting to be seen. When I mentioned I was there to have my dogs heart worm test done and to pick up his monthly dose of trifexis, another dog parent engaged in conversation explaining that his dog has difficulty taking his trifexis. I then replied that cheese was a big hit for my dog and that it worked for us. Immediately I was cut off by this employee saying, "well she's not a vet.....". Totally embarrassed and caught off guard I told her ,"well I'm sorry"......when I really wanted to tell her that she wasn't a vet either! I was simply giving advice to another dog parent on what worked for me in hopes that it might work for them too. I find this employee to be extremely unprofessional. She makes me feel very uncomfortable and even though this is the closest and most convenient banfield location for us to go to I will NOT be returning. Instead I will take my business elsewhere to another banfield with better employees. I did speak to a manager regarding this issue but feel it's necessary to warn future customers. Very disappointing. Read Less

This was the worst experience we have had at a Banfield pet hospital. If I could give negative stars, I would. We have been going to one in Ohio for 3 years, until we recently moved to Fort Myers. With this one being the closest to our home, we decided to take our dog for her yearly appointments. After today’s appointment we will NOT be returning to this location. Not only did my dog sit in a kennel from 715am until 411pm (when they finally gave her the anesthesia for her procedure), but we never received any call that she was being pushed back, that she was out of surgery, nothing. By 430 I decided it was time to go get her (since I was told when I dropped her off she’d be ready by 4-430). I was already worried something may have happened due to receiving ZERO phone calls, but then when I arrived I was told she had just come out of her surgery and I had to wait another hour before she’d even be ready to leave. When my husband and I went back to pick her up, we obviously wanted to talk with the manager about our experience. The Practice Manager, Christina, did little to ease our frustrations, in fact she made them much much worse by telling us our dog had been sitting in an unfamiliar kennel for 9 hours before she even had her surgery, did not offer any sort of apology, but merely told us it was just busy and our dog was fine. Dr. Sherer atleast offered an apology, which was the LEAST of what should have been done. We will NOT be taking our business back to this location, and will advise any other pet parents we know and meet to not go as well. Read Less

Horrible Hospital. I started going to Banfield back in 2010-2011 when my dog was just a puppy after horrible experiences with local veterinarians. I couldn't have been happier and had several family members and friends sign up. As time went on and the Practice Manager at the time left things went down hill FAST. Every one i referred has left for the same reasons, one friend had to go as far as getting an attorney due to the shady practices in Estero. Here we are in 2017 and it has only gotten worse, the ONLY reason i continue to go to Banfield is the veterinarian that i trust and has done wonders with Thor. The office and administrative staff at this location are horrible and make the experience stressful for me and Thor. DO not go to this location, there is another in Fort Myers and in Naples that might be better, i have never gone to them. I may transfer to see how that goes but am actively looking for another veterinarian office. With a new Puppy on the way it time to find another location that actually cares about the health of the pet and the customer experience. I hate to say it, but i'm glad its not just me that sees the issues at this location. Despite all the complaints nothing happens and its obvious nothing will. Read Less

I suppose this is what happens when employees are afraid of getting fired or otherwise penalized because of low 'sales' performance (I've noticed that the last couple of years increased pressure to get additional services) and also from a potential client complaint (mine) about inappropriate pressure: 9 years going to Banfield Pet (petsmart) with 2 chihuahuas, who have been healthy, and 4 of those years with this Dr. Sherer. No issues, all interactions cordial and professional. I refused excessive (and not included in the plan) testing, and afterwards precanceled the plan for both. I discovered, when looking for other information in my dog's medical record for a new vet, that he had put in my record, in addition to other defamatory statements: "She said she was going to throw the dog at me" Seriously?! (See screenshot above) It also explains why I had a bizarre and uncalled for conflict with the Banfield in another state (I saw this record afterwards) If corporate believes this garbage, it means they really don't think highly of the public, doesn't think it's possible for one of the clients to actually have the background to participate in their pets' care, and it explains a lot. No complaints with support staff, they've always been great but the caveat is that I've never experienced working with them in a health crisis situation Read Less

Within the month of January 2017, I had three negative experiences at the Banfield clinic at this location:1. My dog was having breathing problems and I came 10 minutes till closing and the doctor would not see her and sent us to the emergency hospital down the street. I was stressed, panicked and afraid and had to figure out where to go as I'm still new to the area.2. I came to pick her up from having her six-month check up and I had to wait about an hour because she was not ready even though I had dropped her off before 8 o'clock in the morning and it was now about 5:45 pm. (Very minor issue but still.)3. The third and final straw and the reason I will never return to this location is because I took my dog to the clinic to get her annual teeth cleaning and the doctor forgot to take off the catheter from her leg when they sent her home. They had told me to take off the bandage from her leg when I got home so as I did, I noticed a vial still attached to her leg. Banfield had closed so I called the emergency clinic (whose number I luckily now had) and they told me not to do anything because it could ruin a vein and to wait until the morning to have the nurse or doctor remove it. When I took her back the next morning they apologized and said it was not supposed to have been left in as she could have tried to have remove it and ruined her vein. I was beyond livid and will be writing the office. My advice is to go somewhere else. Read Less

Dr. Lawrie is an amazing vet and the staff has always been courteous and helpful. There was something terribly wrong with our dog and no one could figure it out, not even the specialists. We thought we were going to lose him. However, Dr. Lawrie was able to save him. She would come into the Estero office on her days off to meet with us and Lucky to tend to his wounds. Initially I was very happy with Banfield in Estero, especially when compared to the harsh treatment offered fron the Naples office. That changed when I was trying to get answers for my cat's constant diarrhea for 6 months, and was regularly told to go to a vet clinic during regular business hours. After several failed attempts to get answers, and promises to be able to renew our plan early to do bloodwork under the plan was broken, I decided to look elsewhere. I found a vet who finally fixed the issue, but with a sad twist. My sweet boy has been diagnosed with lymphoma, which NONE of the Banfield vets of Estero looked into, and often fluffed off when I asked about cancer. In fact, the vets seemed irrotated when I came to a check up/visit informed and with questions. I now now have to deal with feeling very guilty for staying with Banfield and their inadequate care that they offerd us. My gut said to RUN, but I didn't listen. Thankfully, I found a new vet who listens to my conserns, and loves when I come informed and with questions. Read Less

Bad experience was with Dr. Sherer, in Estero FL Banfield Clinic, who is the first vet in my cats' 11-year-long lives to find it necessary to administer potentially dangerous sedation agents just to do a regular exam and draw blood???? These cats are so docile they're lazy, and have always received rave reviews on how smoothly their exams and blood draws go. The worst thing one of them did was pee on a vet tech. Something is screwy with this guy. Either he and his staff are just plain lousy at humanely restraining animals, or it was just inconvenient for them to do things the right way. I'm a retired pediatric nurse and as many times as I've drawn blood, dropped nasogastric tubes, and done procedures too graphic to mention here, I never once used potentially dangerous chemical restraint for the sake of convenience, or to speed things up because it was a busy day. The inability of the staff to do a routine procedure cost my cats and, "Cha-CHING!" cost me an extra $120 and change. Word to the wise: Never, ever let them take your animal out of your sight for a routine exam; it isn't necessary, and possibly upsets your beloved animal by robbing him/her of your comforting presence. This is Banfield''s practice. It won't be mine ever again. Read Less

If I could give "Banfield", as a whole, a negative 5 star rating, I would. As a former employee, this has been the most unprofessional and disgraceful veterinary establishment I have ever had the misfortune of saying that I was a part of. However, this rating/review is for the public and for the local community whom own pets and are looking for a veterinarian. My advice? Go to a private practice. Check out your local veterinarian where your pet will get the best care at a better price. A majority of your veterinarians at Banfield are brand new graduates, over worked and little in-hospital experience, that you're dropping your pet off with for 8 hours. Let's not forget the "technicians" Banfield hires. Most have no experience, straight off the street, and they are the ones poking and prodding your beloved pets, monitoring under anesthesia, etc. Enjoy! Read Less

Took my 6 month old kitten in because he was obviously sick...Lethargic and couldn't walk. Dr. Sherer looped us into a "wellness plan", said my kitten had a high fever and gave him bolus fluids and pretty much told me to force feed him. My poor kitten kept running a fever and continued to be lethargic and struggle. I took him back in and the other vet on staff took one look at my kitten and said he had FIP, which was incurable and had to be euthanized. The other vet also told me that the Dr. Sherer should've and could've diagnosed this upon his first visit. Needless to say, we had to pay to have him put to sleep AND it was heart breaking for our family. I tried to cancel the "wellness plan" they roped me into considering I now have no cat to care for and have had nothing but trouble! Horrible staff, completely dis-organized and obviously the doctor on staff should not be caring for animals.Read Less

I can't thank her enough for her time and attention (and patience with me and all my questions and phone calls)! Read Less
