I wanted to write a review as I am saddened by having to look for a new vet due to moving. I have been making the hour and a half drive which I realize is not realistic if a pet becomes sick.Dr. Tonks took care of my dog and two cats. She was very thorough and always able to diagnose problems. When we had to say goodbye to our cat due to a form of aggressive cancer in his mouth, everyone at the clinic was kind and compassionate, even sending us a sympathy card signed by the entire office.I highly recommend this practice for several reasons. They are good to your pet, thorough, reasonably priced, and they know who you are as well as who your pets are.

I must post this review as I don't want anyone to go through what we did with this vet. LONG story short, we had issues and kept coming back to seek help. We decided to get a second opinion. I'm glad we did as the new vet provided a different alternative treatment and it WORKED and the new vet is very cost effective. I called this vet to get a refill on an RX and she advised me, in a round about way, that she didn't want us back because I agreed to someone's comments on google about having the same issue. I then took my dog back to the other vet - now our new vet and guess what???? My dog should have NEVER been on the RX for his eyes because it dilates his eyes and when he goes out into the sun, it can hurt and is BAD for him. He gave us an alternative eye drop that is OTC!!!! On top of that, the new vet said my dog has been on too much medication. OMG. I don't feel my dog was treated right. I wish the original vet we went to in this office for over 20 years was still there. My advice would be to stay away. My feeling as the $ is more important that your animal. The new vet said, I can tell you take very good care of your dog and I do.

This is by far the best vet I've been to since I've lived in Florida and I've been to several in the last 25 years. Dr. Catherine Tonks is amazing. She seriously loves her work and it shows. I've been taking my dogs to her for the last five years. I was recommended by the rescue group where I adopted my second puppy. I now have three. The front desk staff is engaged and kind. All the techs are sweet and patient. They also have boarding at a very reasonable rate. My dogs are my children- I love them as deeply as if I birthed them myself- I wouldn't take them anywhere else! Highly recommend!!!

I had taken my cats previously when I had lived in town and they were great. The new vet Dr Tonks was good but her reception staff is just rude. I took my Yorkie there and because they were not sure what she had they had us sit in the car for nearly an hour. They told me that dogs with heart problems may sound congested but to not freak out their other patients they wait outside until they have a room. Seriously, they are making animals with possible heart problems wait in the Florida heat? Vet put her on meds when I called back last week to ask if my dog needed more medicine the girl who answered said, probably but we already shut down our computer and we’re not in the mood to bring it back up. Go to the emergency clinic.

Dr. Tonks takes her time with not only my dogs, but with me, answering any and all concerns or questions I have. The staff is super friendly, and they always seem to accommodate me getting my pets seen. I can definitely recommend Dr. Tonks and everyone connected with her clinic.

Dr. Tonks treated me rudely because I hadn’t brought my dog in since 2016… It is 2017 and meanwhile I still have his toenails clipped there and also buy his ID formula food so it’s not as if I don’t come in regularly. I had not brought him in because he had not been sick. On top of that Dr.McKinnis told me not to ever give Herbie a rabies shot again because he had a severe reaction to it in 2009 Dr. Tonks said I could not bring Herbie ...in to have his toenails clipped again or buy his ID formula food unless he has a rabies shot. When I told her that he had had a reaction she told me I could get a titers test, That runs well over $100 and all that would tell us is that he no longer has anti-bodies for rabies being that he has not had a shot since 2009. I’m sure at that point she would’ve told me I still needed a rabies shot for Herbie which of course I would’ve refused. I’m not going to run the risk of losing my dog over a rabies shot.Herbie is 13 years old I don’t feel comfortable giving him one at this age even if he had never had a reaction. I will now be taking Herbie back to his original Vet dr. Richard Hill at Animal clinic of Casselberry. The only reason I didn’t take Herbie there anymore is because he does not do well on car rides and it is a bit further drive. I have called them and they are glad to have Herbie back. Dr. Hill is a wonderful caring veterinarian and I don’t feel Dr. Tonks cares about anything but how much money you bring into the vet clinic. I had recommended many many clients to the clinic over the years and a lot of them have told me they have left since Dr.McKinnis retired. They didn’t care for Dr. Tonks. I kept going there because I had never had a problem until now. Now I will never go back nor will I ever recommend them again. See More

When my Yorkie became ill over the weekend, I took her to SSAH first thing Monday morning without an appointment. We only waited 10 minutes to be seen and got a complete exam from Dr. Tonks, who even invited me back to the lab to look at Bella's x-rays. Later that day, Dr. Tonks got on the phone to discuss the bloodwork results. Two days later, the doctor called me to check on Bella, who has made a full recovery. Thank you, Dr. Tonks, for your great care, expertise and thoughtfulness.

Very disappointed by the bait and switch method that was used on me. I was quoted $360 for a initial visit, blood work and spay procedure for my dog. Sounded like a reasonable price. After the inspection, I was then told it would be almost double that! I cannot see how anyone can do business like that. Despite the confusion, I still had to pay $45 for the initial check up. The staff was friendly but the establishment left something to be desired and not in the best area. I will not be returning and I urge others to get estimates in writing....

I've been taking Zoe to Dr. Tonks for about 4 years now and she's as healthy as she's ever been. Zoe is a 14 year old porky - yorkie & miniature pinscher mix. Zoe has been healthy most of her life but she kept limping on one of her legs. Dr. Tonks diagnosed the issue as a dislocating knee cap, an issue that she explained is somewhat common in small dogs. There were no expensive fixes but instead we worked to keep her from jumping off the bed since she was getting older. Zoe now uses a pet staircase to get up and down.
I appreciate the great care and explanation that Dr. Tonks and all of the staff provide. I don't ever feel like I'm being sold something unnecessarily and Zoe's care is their primary concern.

DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE!!!! I brought my puppy here once and I will never take him back. My puppy was crate trained and potty trained prior to boarding. I only boarded him for 3 days. When I got my baby back, my puppy would pee in his cage and he had a cut on his nose. Not sure if he injured himself or was bitten by another dog. No one there seemed to know where it came from. My puppy was also covered in urine to the point that his white fur was yellow. I paid to have him washed the day of pick up and they hadn't. I think my dog was traumatized by something there because he peed in his cage for weeks and he was sick with diarrhea as well. I have found a much better place since then. The vet there was ok but whoever is in charge or boarding is not trustworthy.

Sawyer are a blessing it's all in your mind, They may treat you nice and have bedside manners that are considered good but they're out for the money only and nothing else I've gone there on several occasions to buy medications and they will not sell it to me all we need to see the animal while the animal happens to be or feral cats that you can get near it that had his leg holding up and I wanted to give it medication they wouldn't sell it to me so I was p o'ed I left 10 minutes away I went to another vet I walked in told them the situation with a feral cat they sold me a bottle of it for $33 no questions asked no prescription, and I've been patronizing South Seminole Animal Hospital 4/35 years dr. McGinnis when he owned it he was number 1 in my book along with dr. Byrd that done a lot of surgeries but dr. Tonks and dr. Sawyer dr. Sawyer is a puppet for dr. Tonks they are out for the money only and that's all they're about is making the money Tri Spay and Save once in awhile on Ronald Reagan you can get a male or a female cat fixed sometimes but no money $0 sometimes $10 the average cost is between 45 and 65 what are South Seminole Animal Hospital doctor McGinnis hundred and twenty-five and 165 just something wrong with this picture, If you know what medication you need you can buy it online with no prescription and it's less than half the price of South Seminole Animal Hospital would charge and it's free shipping,

I drive an hour to take my pug to Dr. Tonks because she's very compassionate and offers all available options without pushing anything. She truly wants what is best for the pets and is very knowledgeable. She also really listens. I completely trust her to care for my furbabies. She not only thinks of the current issue but the long term consequences of certain medications and the best way to try to mediate the possible problems. Having a pug with chronic conditions, this is very important to me. Everyone is the office is friendly and very helpful. I have not met the newest dr. but I'm sure she's great too. I highly recommend this practice to anyone.

NIGHTMARE! We brought our fur babies there for over 45 years. Dr. McKinnis was wonderful and so was his staff. Sadly he has since retired and turned his practice over to Dr. Tonks. Some of the original staff still remain but a few others have left. As for Dr. Tonks I am NOT impressed. In fact I do not care for her at all. During a stressful time when our dog suddenly became very sick she treated us in a very unprofessional and uncaring manner. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but then more things went wrong with the way she cared for our dog. Our dog has since passed away due to complications with pancreatitis. There were other issues that we felt led to her demise that may have possibly been set into motion by Dr. Tonks, but we cannot prove this. I will never let Dr. Tonks put her hands on another pet of mine again, and I have since warned all of my family and friends. The only thing good I can say about South Seminole Animal Hospital is that the few remaining original staff really do care, but when your dog is in need of medical attention you need to be able to count on the veterinarian to know what they're doing. To treat you with respect and your dog with love and kindness and not like the number!

When I first moved back to Orlando I drove 45 minutes to a vet because I couldn't find one I trusted locally. After meeting Dr. Tonks, I changed vets. She is professional, knowledgeable, and has your pets best interest in mind. I highly recommend South Seminole Animal Hospital!

I was told to let him stay the night when i dropped him off, even thoigh nobody would be in the building aftet six pm. That means he wouldnt have gotten pain killers or have been taken out all night. The argument was that he wouldn't rest at home even though i have a crate and there is no one else in the house. Needless to say i insisted on taking him home. I was given zero post op instructions, thank god i've done it before. Secretaries are rude, vet techs are sweet and the dr is ok but wont say anything to your animal even if he's shivering. Price is not worth it!

I wanted to write a review as I am saddened by having to look for a new vet due to moving. I have been making the hour and a half drive which I realize is not realistic if a pet becomes sick.Dr. Tonks took care of my dog and two cats. She was very thorough and always able to diagnose problems. When we had to say goodbye to our cat due to a form of aggressive cancer in his mouth, everyone at the clinic was kind and compassionate, even sending us a sympathy card signed by the entire office.I highly recommend this practice for several reasons. They are good to your pet, thorough, reasonably priced, and they know who you are as well as who your pets are.

I must post this review as I don't want anyone to go through what we did with this vet. LONG story short, we had issues and kept coming back to seek help. We decided to get a second opinion. I'm glad we did as the new vet provided a different alternative treatment and it WORKED and the new vet is very cost effective. I called this vet to get a refill on an RX and she advised me, in a round about way, that she didn't want us back because I agreed to someone's comments on google about having the same issue. I then took my dog back to the other vet - now our new vet and guess what???? My dog should have NEVER been on the RX for his eyes because it dilates his eyes and when he goes out into the sun, it can hurt and is BAD for him. He gave us an alternative eye drop that is OTC!!!! On top of that, the new vet said my dog has been on too much medication. OMG. I don't feel my dog was treated right. I wish the original vet we went to in this office for over 20 years was still there. My advice would be to stay away. My feeling as the $ is more important that your animal. The new vet said, I can tell you take very good care of your dog and I do.

This is by far the best vet I've been to since I've lived in Florida and I've been to several in the last 25 years. Dr. Catherine Tonks is amazing. She seriously loves her work and it shows. I've been taking my dogs to her for the last five years. I was recommended by the rescue group where I adopted my second puppy. I now have three. The front desk staff is engaged and kind. All the techs are sweet and patient. They also have boarding at a very reasonable rate. My dogs are my children- I love them as deeply as if I birthed them myself- I wouldn't take them anywhere else! Highly recommend!!!

I had taken my cats previously when I had lived in town and they were great. The new vet Dr Tonks was good but her reception staff is just rude. I took my Yorkie there and because they were not sure what she had they had us sit in the car for nearly an hour. They told me that dogs with heart problems may sound congested but to not freak out their other patients they wait outside until they have a room. Seriously, they are making animals with possible heart problems wait in the Florida heat? Vet put her on meds when I called back last week to ask if my dog needed more medicine the girl who answered said, probably but we already shut down our computer and we’re not in the mood to bring it back up. Go to the emergency clinic.

Dr. Tonks takes her time with not only my dogs, but with me, answering any and all concerns or questions I have. The staff is super friendly, and they always seem to accommodate me getting my pets seen. I can definitely recommend Dr. Tonks and everyone connected with her clinic.

Dr. Tonks treated me rudely because I hadn’t brought my dog in since 2016… It is 2017 and meanwhile I still have his toenails clipped there and also buy his ID formula food so it’s not as if I don’t come in regularly. I had not brought him in because he had not been sick. On top of that Dr.McKinnis told me not to ever give Herbie a rabies shot again because he had a severe reaction to it in 2009 Dr. Tonks said I could not bring Herbie ...in to have his toenails clipped again or buy his ID formula food unless he has a rabies shot. When I told her that he had had a reaction she told me I could get a titers test, That runs well over $100 and all that would tell us is that he no longer has anti-bodies for rabies being that he has not had a shot since 2009. I’m sure at that point she would’ve told me I still needed a rabies shot for Herbie which of course I would’ve refused. I’m not going to run the risk of losing my dog over a rabies shot.Herbie is 13 years old I don’t feel comfortable giving him one at this age even if he had never had a reaction. I will now be taking Herbie back to his original Vet dr. Richard Hill at Animal clinic of Casselberry. The only reason I didn’t take Herbie there anymore is because he does not do well on car rides and it is a bit further drive. I have called them and they are glad to have Herbie back. Dr. Hill is a wonderful caring veterinarian and I don’t feel Dr. Tonks cares about anything but how much money you bring into the vet clinic. I had recommended many many clients to the clinic over the years and a lot of them have told me they have left since Dr.McKinnis retired. They didn’t care for Dr. Tonks. I kept going there because I had never had a problem until now. Now I will never go back nor will I ever recommend them again. See More

When my Yorkie became ill over the weekend, I took her to SSAH first thing Monday morning without an appointment. We only waited 10 minutes to be seen and got a complete exam from Dr. Tonks, who even invited me back to the lab to look at Bella's x-rays. Later that day, Dr. Tonks got on the phone to discuss the bloodwork results. Two days later, the doctor called me to check on Bella, who has made a full recovery. Thank you, Dr. Tonks, for your great care, expertise and thoughtfulness.

Very disappointed by the bait and switch method that was used on me. I was quoted $360 for a initial visit, blood work and spay procedure for my dog. Sounded like a reasonable price. After the inspection, I was then told it would be almost double that! I cannot see how anyone can do business like that. Despite the confusion, I still had to pay $45 for the initial check up. The staff was friendly but the establishment left something to be desired and not in the best area. I will not be returning and I urge others to get estimates in writing....

I've been taking Zoe to Dr. Tonks for about 4 years now and she's as healthy as she's ever been. Zoe is a 14 year old porky - yorkie & miniature pinscher mix. Zoe has been healthy most of her life but she kept limping on one of her legs. Dr. Tonks diagnosed the issue as a dislocating knee cap, an issue that she explained is somewhat common in small dogs. There were no expensive fixes but instead we worked to keep her from jumping off the bed since she was getting older. Zoe now uses a pet staircase to get up and down.
I appreciate the great care and explanation that Dr. Tonks and all of the staff provide. I don't ever feel like I'm being sold something unnecessarily and Zoe's care is their primary concern.

DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE!!!! I brought my puppy here once and I will never take him back. My puppy was crate trained and potty trained prior to boarding. I only boarded him for 3 days. When I got my baby back, my puppy would pee in his cage and he had a cut on his nose. Not sure if he injured himself or was bitten by another dog. No one there seemed to know where it came from. My puppy was also covered in urine to the point that his white fur was yellow. I paid to have him washed the day of pick up and they hadn't. I think my dog was traumatized by something there because he peed in his cage for weeks and he was sick with diarrhea as well. I have found a much better place since then. The vet there was ok but whoever is in charge or boarding is not trustworthy.

Sawyer are a blessing it's all in your mind, They may treat you nice and have bedside manners that are considered good but they're out for the money only and nothing else I've gone there on several occasions to buy medications and they will not sell it to me all we need to see the animal while the animal happens to be or feral cats that you can get near it that had his leg holding up and I wanted to give it medication they wouldn't sell it to me so I was p o'ed I left 10 minutes away I went to another vet I walked in told them the situation with a feral cat they sold me a bottle of it for $33 no questions asked no prescription, and I've been patronizing South Seminole Animal Hospital 4/35 years dr. McGinnis when he owned it he was number 1 in my book along with dr. Byrd that done a lot of surgeries but dr. Tonks and dr. Sawyer dr. Sawyer is a puppet for dr. Tonks they are out for the money only and that's all they're about is making the money Tri Spay and Save once in awhile on Ronald Reagan you can get a male or a female cat fixed sometimes but no money $0 sometimes $10 the average cost is between 45 and 65 what are South Seminole Animal Hospital doctor McGinnis hundred and twenty-five and 165 just something wrong with this picture, If you know what medication you need you can buy it online with no prescription and it's less than half the price of South Seminole Animal Hospital would charge and it's free shipping,

I drive an hour to take my pug to Dr. Tonks because she's very compassionate and offers all available options without pushing anything. She truly wants what is best for the pets and is very knowledgeable. She also really listens. I completely trust her to care for my furbabies. She not only thinks of the current issue but the long term consequences of certain medications and the best way to try to mediate the possible problems. Having a pug with chronic conditions, this is very important to me. Everyone is the office is friendly and very helpful. I have not met the newest dr. but I'm sure she's great too. I highly recommend this practice to anyone.

NIGHTMARE! We brought our fur babies there for over 45 years. Dr. McKinnis was wonderful and so was his staff. Sadly he has since retired and turned his practice over to Dr. Tonks. Some of the original staff still remain but a few others have left. As for Dr. Tonks I am NOT impressed. In fact I do not care for her at all. During a stressful time when our dog suddenly became very sick she treated us in a very unprofessional and uncaring manner. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but then more things went wrong with the way she cared for our dog. Our dog has since passed away due to complications with pancreatitis. There were other issues that we felt led to her demise that may have possibly been set into motion by Dr. Tonks, but we cannot prove this. I will never let Dr. Tonks put her hands on another pet of mine again, and I have since warned all of my family and friends. The only thing good I can say about South Seminole Animal Hospital is that the few remaining original staff really do care, but when your dog is in need of medical attention you need to be able to count on the veterinarian to know what they're doing. To treat you with respect and your dog with love and kindness and not like the number!

When I first moved back to Orlando I drove 45 minutes to a vet because I couldn't find one I trusted locally. After meeting Dr. Tonks, I changed vets. She is professional, knowledgeable, and has your pets best interest in mind. I highly recommend South Seminole Animal Hospital!

I was told to let him stay the night when i dropped him off, even thoigh nobody would be in the building aftet six pm. That means he wouldnt have gotten pain killers or have been taken out all night. The argument was that he wouldn't rest at home even though i have a crate and there is no one else in the house. Needless to say i insisted on taking him home. I was given zero post op instructions, thank god i've done it before. Secretaries are rude, vet techs are sweet and the dr is ok but wont say anything to your animal even if he's shivering. Price is not worth it!
