Amelia Island Animal Hospital

Fernandina Beach, Florida
General Info
Care at Amelia Island Animal Hospital in Fernandina Beach starts long before the first hand is laid on your pet. Studying pets’ interactions with doorways, floors, and corners, the clinic adjusts its pace as per Florida’s nature. Light diffusion takes place while soundscapes become softer. The structure does not have boundaries and breakout zones. Animals are given a limited degree of agency in the carefully designed spaces in which they live, that is, those with low platforms and other types of visual and physical interruptions. The staff’s movements are reliant on specific patterns identified, where rapid blinking paired with tucking limbs and shifting hips initiates the “pause/reset” pattern. The first phase of the communication in body posture imitation. Amelia Island Animal Hospital performs chronic pain evaluation in tandem with multi-organ diagnostics while managing age-related treatment transitions and monitoring metabolic and endocrine functions prior to preventative dental strategies implementation. The examination process has distinct stages: the entry phase, recognition phase, interaction phase, and exit rhythm. The session needs to be adjusted rather than progressed when the pet hides behind furniture or its breathing pattern alters. Discharge plan utilizes the sensory-base mapping indicating when to initiate eye contact, how to offer proximity and where to place her hands during home base care routines. Families are guided through the implementation of reflection instead of control, which helps the pets regain their natural patterns after clinical sessions. Amelia Island Animal Hospital sets itself apart from other clinics in Fernandina Beach, Florida. We emphasize motion-based comfort and pattern recognition as the precursors to any procedure-related pressure. The services provided by the Amelia Island Animal Hospital include Hospice and Palliative Care, Boarding, Internal Medicine, Puppy and Kitten Care, Laser Therapy, Dental Care, Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Cold Laser Therapy and Parasite Prevention. This means that pet owners in Fernandina Beach and surrounding areas can access a wide range of services, from basic check-ups to advanced procedures. The clinic remains a steadfast partner in the Fernandina Beach region through its dedication to improving pet health and well-being throughout their lives.

We wanted so much to have this facility work out for us, but a few issues keep popping up that indicate a problem with inter-office communication and a real desire to do what is best for the pet. Two stars are for the couple of really nice people that work there, recognize our frustrations and seem to wish things were different. The worst experience was denying us the anti-seizure medication refill for a blood test bill that was only 2 weeks old. We were told that it was what Dr Jen said to do. Previously we paid up front for those tests so this was a complete surprise. I guess they forgot to charge us that day and held our dog's health in ransom over it. We had been there a couple of years and never stiffed them for anything. We pay our bills on time!  Strike one. We had a vacation planned and would need to board our dog. We brought him in to update his shots with anything necessary for boarding. Despite the DPT expiring within a month, they didn't bother with that one. We showed up at the boarder on our way out of town and they couldn't take him for that reason.  So back to the vet where we had to walk in and wait to see Dr Jen to get the shot. Thankfully we we're driving and didn't have to catch a flight!  We also went ahead with another blood test.  Strike two!Almost every other visit is plagued with attempts to sell us things we don't need, especially more blood tests. Today (5/25) was the last straw. We had just had an entire series of blood test done a month before (previous paragraph). Today we asked for a refill on heart-worm medication and were told the dog would need a blood test. After asking about last month's blood work, we were told that it was a failure in the office to "link the results to a reminder."  To me it means an office manager needs to be hired or replaced.  Strike three!  Our doxies have been going to Nassau Veterinary on US17, that's where our beagle will be too. Tucker (my dog), my husband and I had to relocate to Georgia and are very saddened to leave such a good vet. It is VERY hard to gain my trust when it comes to properly caring for my little man because i'm obsessed with him! I would do anything in the world for him! Dr. Jen gained my trust immediately when she first saw Tucker. She is very knowledgable and it gave me peace of mind that he was in good hands. Also, I'm not kidding, I believe she genuinely loves what she does! She was the only one in the office one day, working crazy hours, yet she was still smiling!
