We have been clients with Willowdale for years. Cant say enough about Dr Otte she is wonderful. However, for  the second time, Dr Spicer has been unconcerned, impatient  and not helpful. Would not address my concerns and downplayed them.  As a result my first cat went undiagnosed with renal failure and died. I will see Dr Otte but never Dr Spicer Read Less

Not compassionate? Absolutely absurd. Best staff and group of doctors in the area!! Always just a phone call away for any information/refills and very helpful. Dr. Kemp is amazing with our cats and dog. They "all" went out of their way to research information due to our shih tzu's food allergy. Today was the second time I have been to Willowdale for veterinary services. Both times both Doc Otte and the staff helping were absolutely fantastic. The facility is immaculate and the work done is phenomenal. It is extremely unfortunate that the front receptionists at Willowdale are extremely rude and not helpful or compassionate. My dogs were patients for a short time and we have been treated poorly on two occasions. Today I simply went to pick up medication and was told VERY RUDELY that I never called for the prescription.  Surprised by this reaction, I explained that there was a mistake and gave dates of conversations.  She was unwilling to help rectify the situation at all.  Even though the vet was in the office. I returned home to get a phone call that the prescription is ready to be picked up??  Really?  Needless to say, we won't be returning. I was warned by other neighbors about this rude behavior. We have been going to Willowdale for about 5 years now they are awesome. We see Dr. Spicer. Everyone there is so caring about the 4 legged children that come through their door. They take the time too make sure we understand what to look for if our fur children are not feeling well. My Lucy has been there since she 7 weeks old she is 2 years old now. I started going to Willowdale over 15 years ago for my cats.  About 6 years ago, I adopted a couple of dogs and they go to Willowdale as well.  I always request Dr. Otto and am usually able to see her unless it's an emergency situation in which case I have seen Dr. O Donnell.  I feel like my pets get very good treatment and care at this vet's office.  The staff is always polite and the office is just so darn cute.  The walls are completely covered with huge murals including some 3-D elements.  When one of my cats became too old and ill to continue living a happy life, they were very compassionate and helpful when it came time to put him to sleep.  They seem to really love animals and are very knowledgeable about treatment options.  Their prices seem to be a little on the high side to me, but my furbabies deserve top-knotch care and I feel like they get it from Dr. Otte and Dr. O'Donnell. I had 3 Bassett's & 2 cats, but now have one Basset & 1 cat left. All of the Doctors at Willowdale are all loving, caring & wonderful people who've taken care of all my fur babies till the end of their precious lives & will continue to for as long as we live in Jacksonville & have fur babies. We genuinely love each one of the staff members at this clinic. I give them all 5 stars in customer service, which in these days is very rare to give all across the board. I see Dr. Spicer at Willowdale and absolutely love her! She makes an extra effort to make sure your pet is comfortable prior to examining them and is very patient with all of my "pet mommy" questions. Our cats and dog were being seen at another vet clinic in the area; we moved our pets to Willowdale when our dog developed a urinary tract infection and couldn't be seen that day. We saw Dr. Spicer that day and she was everything you'd want in a Veterinaria-enthusiastic and professional. We won't take our fur babies anywhere else. Read Less

GREAT practice! My parents have been going to Dr. Otte for years, and after a poor experience at another clinic, they saw my cat for the first time on an emergency basis. Dr. Otte was quick to recognize my concern and did everything she could to get to the root of the problem. She kept me informed as bloodwork results came in and gave me her thoughts the whole way. After working for another clinic for 4 years, I thought I would never find another practice to satisfy mine and my pets needs after moving away. We have been loyal customers of Dr. O'Donnell at Willowdale Veterinarian in Fleming Island, FL for the past 8 years. We recently adoped a second puppy, a 10 wk old Chihuahua/Terrier Mix, Maggie Moo. On Sunday, Apr. 15, 2012, we were on vacation in St. Augustine at a beach house. Maggie had a big day on the beach and had been sleeping for the past 3 hours. We went to wake her up to notice that she was unresponsive. It took quite a while before she came to. The next Monday, we took her in to see O'Donnell and asked for her to do some bloodwork, to give a baseline. She refused and said it was normal. The next Saturday, Apr. 21, we brought her in for her vaccine. O'Donnell gave her the injection, but pushed needle in too far that it came out the other side of Maggie and the serium shot across the room. Tuesday, Apr. 24 it rained all night. Wed. morning, we took her out to go potty, put her on the yard leash, and shortly let her back in. She was acting normal. Before I went to work, I noticed she looked lethargic, and she puked and had diarrhea. I took her in to see O'Donnell at 9:30a along with samples of the fluids, of which she ignored. I came back at 1:30p to check on her, they had not gotten to her yet, but gave her an anti-nausea shot because she continued to puke. I asked them to do some blood work. 4:30p, they called and said she is ready to go home. Her ACL (liver enzyme) was 1736, should be 110, she said it was ""slightly elevated"" and was more worried about her sugar 32/100. She said to give her some food and bring her in tomorrow if she doesnt get better. 8:00p, Maggie voids her urine, bowels, and stomach, we take her into the ER. After examining the puke and bloodwork, the doctor said she was in liver failure, due to eating a mushroom. She said if O'Donnell had NOT given her anti-nausea and given her charcoal, she might have been fine. Thurs. night, Maggie passed away. The ER Doctor has called us, asking how we are coping, not a word from O'Donnell. Many friends on Facebook are coming out with similar stories about Dr. O'Donnell, I am trying to get them to post them here as well. Read Less
