Pet Emergency saved our dog's life! Thank you. Our dog was vomiting, diarrhea, and was semi-conscious when he arrived. We were panicked. The vet, Dr. Kiser, and his assistant immediately examined our dog and gave him oxygen, administered tests, and made him comfortable. We had no idea why this occurred but our dog had eaten half a kosher hot dog and this apparently triggered a crisis. In the morning we were advised to take him to our veterinarian at Heroes Veterinarian Clinic to continue treatment.  All the medical paperwork was emailed to Heroes that Pet Emergency did the previous night. This has been the worst experience I've ever had at a veterinarian center. My 9 week old puppy has a horrible cherry eye to the point it covers the entire eye. We walked in at 8:05 we sat there for an hour without seeing a soul in that place. My dog was exhibiting signs of distress and discomfort. My neighbors recommended this animal hospital. Dr. Kiser was the attending veterinarian. He was extremely knowledgeable and very nice. He knew exactly what tests to perform to ensure that our pet was fine. We left there paying a fraction of the cost of other emergency vets. GOD SENT  Words cannot express the gratitude we have for this place. After a very rough two days of emergency surgery and post op care (2 other facilities), we had to make the hardest decision to discharge her from a well known ER Animal Hospital and take our chances with Pet Emergency Center, as we were left with few options, a 5K+ exploratory surgery or possibly loosing our beloved pet. We called PEC around 9:45pm on a Friday night, spoke to Cary and explained our dilemma and she was very sympathetic and told us that they could take a look at our dog and give us a second option. Once we arrived there, they immediately took her vitals and placed us in an examination room. Dr. Kiser came in a few minutes later, as he was taking care of another pet emergency and was very knowledgeable and friendly. After reviewing our dog's records and examining her, he determined that she was most likely not in need of surgery and wanted to confirm by performing an ultrasound and repeat her blood work.Miracle on Cypress Creek Road!Results were as he suspected and our dog was discharged a few minutes later with the required medications and care instructions. Went there Saturday after Thanksgiving and the Dr. was not in. Really! The receptionist was rude and annoyed when we insisted she page the Dr to come in. She stated the Dr. had an emergency. Sure......probably a pecan pie emergency. At any rate we waited 30 minutes and the Dr. did not show so we left and went to another emergency center. Will not recommend this place. The front desk was absolutely rude my boyfriend was let in the first time no problem she made him check in and he came out to let me know the wait time was an hour wait . He tried to go back in but she would not unlock the door he stood out there for a good five minutes. I called and she said oh he has to ring the door bell . So your gonna make someone wait at the door you let in before without the bell wait confused and stressed because his dog is in pain sitting in the car because he can't walk . Waited an hour and a half, was seen finally, had great service was in and out in two and a half hours.   For an overnight pet emergency pet center that was performing a surgery at the same time that's pretty incredible. They were up front with costs and the veterinarian even helped me determine what was extra and could be eliminated to lower the  overall cost. Best emergency pet center I've been too! Very poor service. The doctor and the 2 techs were all busy with a procedure on another pet. They weren't available even to take blood from our pet. That might not have been so bad if they had told us that upon arrival. But they didn't. We waited over 90 minutes, with a sick pet, before we found that out.Also, make sure you realize that, if your pet stays overnight, no matter how late it was brought in, you have to take it out by 7:30 a.m. the next day. If your pet is in the middle of some i.v. drip, they will have to leave the needles/tubes in for you to take over to your regular vet for completion. That can be very trying for a pet. Read Less

I’ve been trusting him with the care of my Cocker Spaniel for approximately 5 years, and I wouldn’t know what to do if I didn’t have his expertise and support in my corner. Excellent experience and of course...in the middle of the night! My Beagle ate 400mg of Ibuprofen off the nightstand. Toxic in dogs. They told me exactly what they would do as well as the cost and it was right on! Not like some of the pet ERs around where they are already telling you (before they see/examine pet) they need your credit card and dog may need to stay overnight for a few days. The actual Vet here, he deserves 5 stars but the tech/billing admin, she should go find herself a new career. I took my mini-dachshund there and discussed diagnosis and treatment with the Vet. I made it very clear I was not okay with admitting my fur-baby into the facility on the basis that it was pretty obvious the conditions of the kennel were not ideal and her being abandoned would be more stressful to any dog further agitating the symptoms than treating her at home where I could dedicate the time and attention for the 'aggressive trauma care'. The Vet recommended at minimum to purchase and administer all the medications (IV there and syringe at home). Having had my pup for 9 yrs, I felt fully confident I could provide her with the care she needed and ensure she received her medications. HOWEVER THE TECH/Billing admin, came back with the bill for everything even though we just spoke with the Vet about only the medications, wrote nastily DECLINED on the invoice, and talked to me about a bunch of 'if's and 'maybe's like I was some kind of jackass who didn't love her dog. Oh, I love my dog, but I wasn't going to pay $1000+ a shift for them to do the same thing I can do at home but without the love and comfort I could provide. Her attitude was uncalled for and insulting. She even wrote in the medical records, declined against medical advice, even though the Vet stated otherwise. When we left there was a dog there non-stop crying, not even barking, crying like an infant would. I said "Wow; that dog sure sounds like he isn't doing well." She goes, "Yeah, he's just reeeeally unhappy about being in the cage." I said, "You don't say. That is exactly why I will not leave my pet in your care." Do I really have to mention she was rude the entire time and this is just some small portion of it I am sharing. The Vet is great, so please bring your pet here, but don't let the tech try to manipulate your emotions and treat you like you're a monster. When it comes to administering care, you can do it. Don't leave your dog crying, alone/feeling abandoned, and sleeping on a flat slab in a crate (not a cage btw like the tech referred to it as) when they could be home with you nearby caring for them in the familiar, comfortable, and loving environment ... even if they do pass; would you rather it be in your arms or alone where someone won't even notice until the next check-up time. We paid a touch over $400 total instead of the initial $1000+ just for the first day. My pup is recovering just fine by the way and is now in love with warmed up towels and diluted oil-diffuse. Educate yourself, pepto and pedalyte work wonders just be very careful with dosing adjustments for our much smaller smaller companions ... thank you ... Read Less

I brought my little Yorkie who I just had rescued two weeks ago in because she was in very bad shape. I went in and they took care of me and my dog right away. The doctor TRULY cares for the animal and also the owner of the pet. I wasn’t able to afford everything at once and they really helped me out with paying them in a way that worked for me. I cannot begin to express the gratitude that I have for the staff here.  We brought our baby here while we were on vacation in Fort Lauderdale. She was a 12 year old Pom and had been coughing for months. We spent over 3k in Michigan taking her to specialists that kept medicating her and telling us that she had a simple lung infection. It seemed to go away about 2 weeks before our vacation and our primary vet told us it was okay to take her to Florida because it was miraculously clearing up!On our 3rd night there, we noticed she was coughing again.. we were in a city were we didn't live and didn't know what to do. I found this place on Yelp, I'm SO glad and grateful that I did.Within minutes, the doctor took an x-ray of her and found out that the reason why she had been coughing was that she was going through congestive heart failure. She had been on the brink of death the whole time, and none of our specialists  that we had taken her to in Michigan even caught it.  Her poor little body had been filling up with fluids and we had no idea. Unfortunately, we lost her that night. Worst trip ever.We got a phone call at about 5:30 AM that she had a massive heart attack and to come there right away. We flew there immediately. The doctor and the nurse were both crying when we got there. I cannot believe the amount of compassion and care that we received that night. It was the worst day of my life, but it was eased by knowing that in her final moments, she was surrounded with A+ care and love.  Because we were on vacation and from out of state, the doctor actually paid out of his own pocket to have her ashes sent back to us. I still can't believe it.Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I will never forget what you guys did for our baby and making her last moments so peaceful! I had to bring my dog in last night because she was crying from pain anytime we touched her back/butt area. They were very helpful and made her feel better. She was given pain meds and an anti-inflammatory. Dr. Kiser was very good to her and made her feel comfortable. She usually very squeamish around strangers but was very receptive to him. He was informative and didn't pressure us into getting anything we didn't want (like X-rays we didn't think were necessary). My only complaint is that we were there almost two hours but in there defense it's an emergency place and I only saw two people working there. Also, the one girl there kept calling my dog a He even though I told her it's a She and the paperwork said Female which is just kind of annoying. Read Less

Dr. Alexis Shulman was fantastic in every way! She explained the situation with regards to my dog clearly and and answered all of my questions patiently. She was compassionate, professional and clearly very intelligent. She took care of my dog overnight after he ingested a foreign object. They treated my dog and our family very kindly and took as much time as needed to go over everything I needed to do to continue my dogs care when we picked him up in the morning. The vet tech/receptionist was also very kind, caring, professional, polite and friendly! I could tell that both the Dr and the vet tech really cared about the well being of my dog and our family.This is a first rate Vet Emergency Hospital that I will refer friends to in the future. I am very impressed. Before any treatment they went over all of the costs with me line by line. Even though I paid in the evening when I left my dog there, there were no additional charges in the morning when I picked him up. I can't express enough thanks to Dr. Howell and Roxanne. We brought in our dog around 9pm on a Sunday night with signs of extreme distress. They confirmed he was suffering from bloat, which is highly deadly. They rushed him into surgery and had to close the emergency center to other patients because both Roxanne and Dr. Howell were needed in the OR. They operated for 3 hours. My dog is alive because they moved quickly and skillfully and I can't thank them enough. They were professional and compassionate in dealing with my while I was at my worst. Pet emergency is an emotional and stressful experience. For one, they are sometimes unable to express their discomfort and pain for the most part. I had the misfortune of having this experience with my German Shepard Lala over the weekend. We immediately took her to Pet Emegerency Center, where we met Yainelin Chinese (Jan) and Dr Alexis Schulman. They were compassionate, professional and courteous. They immediately made Lala comfortable. They allowed us to stay with her through her exams. Lala had a diarrhea accident, and Yainelin was very kind and took care of it with no complaints. Where is the love and compassion for pets... I took my puppy to this place very ill, throwing up several times and seemed dizzy and unresponsive from time to time. They refused to see the puppy because I could not afford the place. I had to apply for a credit card that I was not even approved... They don't have payment plans nor they bill you for the services. If I could give a higher rating than 5 Stars, I would!  Dr. Buckley and his Assistant were absolute Angels in our life and for our 12 year old named Whiski.  We were in a scary situation and both the front staff member and Dr. Buckley spoke in great length with us on the phone as well as treated our Dog in person with immense compassion, knowledge and calm insight.  On top of it all, Dr. Buckley didn't charge us for the visit which is pretty unheard of, especially for an Emergency Vet Hospital on CHRISTMAS EVE.  This was the absolute best Emergency Vet visit I have ever encountered and that is true regardless of the fact we weren't charged.  Bravo for your true love of animals and compassion for life itself.  Dr. Buckley, you will truly be rewarded in this lifetime and the next beyond anything you can imagine because of your integrity, generosity and true love of the service your provide.  Thank you! Last night 9/27 our cat urinated in front of me in which she never does. When I looked where she went, I noticed blood in her urine. Being after hours and my husband out of a job I was mortified of what to expect. We were too nervous to wait till morning so we went to this hospital. The two woman that were working were VERY helpful and strait forward. We told them of our financial situation and they were very willing to work it out for the sake of our cats comfort and well being. I usually leave the vet feeling defeated and in debt. Don't get me wrong I love my animals and they are my family but when your broke your broke. We were able to get the care our cat needed and pay for it. They were very kind & informative. We left with helpful information. Money wasn't the top or only concern. My cats well being was. I feel they are very fair and caring people. Good karma to them. I brought my dog for a second opinion to this hospital and after going to a fancy vet clinic in Boca Raton that basically robbed me blind, I truly felt they (vet and vet tech) here at this location saved my pet's life. Our cat got very ill and we took him to this vet. They were so friendly and understanding. They fully explained all options and gave several estimates. They did not pressure me in any way to choose one option over the other. We sadly decided to euthanize our cat. They took such good care of him and we held him as he took his last breath. Had a small dog with what looked like symptoms of Pancreatitis.  Dr. Bland immediately began his blood work, pain medication, and monitoring, while always explaining his actions.  Roxanne was also very sweet and professional, and kept us informed of costs and both were very detailed.Turned out results came back showing normal liver enzymes and was instead found to have a major food poisoning reaction needing specific medication.  We were happily surprised that we were refunded some of the initial cost as his stay was less severe.Thank you for your attention and quick response, our pup (Rudy) means the world to us and our family. 5/17/16- UPDATE - so glad I brought Charly here!  She is so big and happy two years later!  - The guys on my job found a baby kitty on the side of the road and of course brought her to me, the cat lady.  I was not sure how old she was so I stopped into the clinic to ask what to feed her.  The doctor and his assistant were extremely nice and helpful.  The doctor's assistant asked if she could look at her and when she started checking her out closely she realized that she had an injury.  The doctor took kitty to the exam room and came back and advised that the injury was more serious than he thought and advised she would need surgery.  The injury had caused me to think this was a boy cat, but she was a girl.  The doctor fixed her right up and gave me antibiotics for her with instruction on her care.  He even sent her information to my regular vet in case I decided to keep her, which of course I did.  She is thriving now and has gained some weight and will soon be integrated into the rest of the family!  I am so glad I stopped in to ask questions.  I would highly recommend this clinic if your pet is suffering an illness and your regular vet is closed.  They are genuinely very caring.  Kitty now has a name; Charly. It was getting around 8 pm when I noticed my cat, Lulubelle, was acting very strange.  I followed her around the house a little bit and thought she looked swollen.  Like any first time pet Mom, I naturally panicked and looked for a 24 hour emergency pet hospital.  I cannot say enough good things about the staff, the doctor, and the facility.  I called first to make sure they were open, then explained my issue.  They said I could bring her in, so I told them it would happen as soon as I could get her in the box.  The lady on the other end understood.I didn't have to wait long, even with 3 or 4 people ahead of me.  They brought me back and took a look at Lulu.  The doctor felt what I felt, so we decided to take some x-rays.I was nervous while I waited, but the doctor came back a short while later and told me she was fine...just fat.  He explained that sometimes, as cats get older, they act in strange ways...I guess kind of like people, too.  They even offered to re-examine her for free if I brought her back the next day, just to make sure.  When I apologized for overreacting, the doctor even made me feel good about that, explaining it was better to be safe than sorry.They sent her records off to her normal vet, and check out was super easy.  Pet Emergency Center really hit the ball out of the park.  Their prices were extremely reasonable, their service was top notch, and all in all, it was a pleasant experience.  They really care about your pets and will make sure they're okay, even after they leave.Thanks Pet Emergency Center for looking after Lulubelle! Lost both my cats 2 weeks apart. They were 17 years old. The staff was compassionate, kind, and made cremation easy. They also allowed me as much time as I needed to say good bye. The location in Tamarac is where I took my first cat. In the second location on Dixie it was even better service. They sent a card addressed to "Bubba's Mom" a few days later. I have never experienced such compassion from an emergency establishment in my life.  While this place used to be a terrible business, it has become a caring, helpful, and efficient emergency center.  Dr. Seskus, Dr. Jessica, and Laura are amazing at what they do.  Even though Cubby is no longer with us, he appreciates all of the help and love that was put in to his treatment.  His brother Shadow loves them too!  Thank you so much for being so awesome! As a pet owner all my life, I have had my share of midnight runs to pet emergency hospitals over the years. Some experiences were much better than others...some just plain terrible. My experience with Pet Emergency in Fort Lauderdale was top notch and I am very happy to write this review. I do not think my dog would have lived if I had taken him elsewhere. I called in advance to notify them I was on my way with my chihuahua, whoes trachea was closing and he was struggeling to breathe. His tongue was turning blue and I knew if I didn't get him help immediately he was going to die. They met me at the door, calmed me down, took my tiny pet in the back and saved his life. In the meantime the tech at the front desk talked to me and kept going to the back to give me updates on his condition. Her kindness went beyond what I would expect and was more than appreciated. They kept my little dog overnight for observation and when I returned the following morning to pick him up the vet came out and spoke to me at length. I was given excellent advice in order to avoid anoth reoccurance, meds to help his condition and a follow up phone call late the next afternoon. Over and above!! Thank you Pet Emergency!! You saved my little pets life and made this horrible experience much less painful with your caring kindness to me while my pet was being saved. Read Less

We have to say we are devastated. Our little ray of sunshine, Rocco Rojas was taken here on Thursday evening in a request to save him. Our primary vet did not have afterhour care and asked us to take him to an afterhour care facility. We chose this one as it was the closest to our home. BIG MISTAKE! At the time of check-in they took our beloved dog (who at that time was doing better from his accident and sedated) and once paperwork filled out money asked for immediately almost $900.00. In our state of shock due to our emergency we were paying with a check the receptionist/vet tech. refused to take the payment and said if we were not back within 2 hours we will be back in the AM to find our dog deceased. IMAGINE OUR PAIN?! We then made arrangments and went back again at 11 pm to find our little bundle of joy was better, no organ failure, swelling down, etc. good news. At that time we advised the tech we would have the money out of our acct. first thing in the AM she again became very irritated and very cold hearted. Needless to say, when we picked our little one up in the AM with cash in hand of $900.00, she then advised us that our little bundle of joy was not going to make it and gave him back to my husband in a non-sedated stage crying in pain to transport back to our vet to put him to sleep. Imagine our pain and anguish at having to transport our little one to the vet screaming and crying in pain? Sadly enough I do believe what the tech originally said to us, she did end up doing as we are without our little one today. We are devastated and besides words our 2 children cannot rationalize how he went from doing well to being put down within hours of being at this facility. I would not recommend this facility to anyone as they are very cold hearted and uncaring to have put a family through such pain over payment method and to say you will return to find your pet deceased? I write this with the hopes that no one has to pass the pain we have had to pass these past few days. God bless all..... Read Less
