We took our two cats for their first check-up since getting them out of the shelter 8 months ago. The male has a slight infection in one ear. From the time we entered, our initial impression of Southport was positive; the building inside and out is immaculate. Inside is roomy, nicely decorated, without any antiseptic smells. There were no dogs barking in the background. The cats were calm and relaxed in this atmosphere. The entire staff was welcoming and very professional. Continuing the high standard was meeting Dr. Marlar, who was so good with our boy and girl. She exudes warmth, care, and professionalism. The vet tech was the same way, kind and gentle and thorough. The visit could not have been any better. Finally, the bill was very reasonable and fair. I believe that, considering the high standard of medical care and expertise, the personable and professional interaction, this veterinarian hospital and clinic easily wins 5 stars. This is an amendment to my review above. Instead, we read the stammering of an individual that projects an altered state of consciousness or mental problems. This acceptance of lowered standards by Yelp might by an indication of other structural problems with the company. For me, its credibility and integrity have taken a hit. Read Less
