By far our favorite vet we've encountered as dogs. Dr. Gillaspie was so nice, patient and caring towards our pitbull. Additionally, Dawn, the technician, was SO awesome! I explained I wasn't sure the medicine my dog is on for allergies was working and she gave me so much information about alternative treatments/medications that no other doctor has mentioned before. following the surgery, the team called to check up and I explained her drainage tube's cap kept coming off. I asked to come grab a new cap & they were more than happy for me to stop by. 20 minutes later someone called me back to let me know the doctor would like to do a quick check up (free of charge) to ensure the surgery site looked good. The next morning I brought my dog in and the doctor greeted us at the front door and took us immediately back! This is honestly the first time I've felt like someone really cared and wasn't out for a buck with our dog, so I highly recommend!! Thank you, Dr. Gillaspie and Dawn for such a great experience! My dogs (past and present) have been patients of STAH for many years.  They took wonderful care of my two dogs from about the age of 3 & 5 when I moved here, and through their senior years before they passed as well as a new rescue that I've had for the past 2 years.  During all of that time, I found them to be very caring and compassionate.  Dr. DeMonarco is my favorite vet, and she provides us with lots of information for various treatment options and she patiently answers all of our questions.  Also, I cannot say enough about my experience boarding my dogs with STAH. At my request, they allowed my senior animals to stay in quiet areas due to health issues and they don't seem to mind my current dog's very LOUD and annoying barking :).  The only complaint I have about boarding is the time it takes to check them in and out and also that they require a $40 fecal check every 3 months which drives up the cost of boarding for those who board or use them for daycare fairly often. Pet daycares in the area that I have used do not charge for this.  I'm not sure how STAH fees compare to other vets since I haven't used any in this area, but they are not cheap.  Annual checkups have cost me about $150-$200 per dog, depending on what immunizations they need. Personally, I feel the care my pets receive here is well worth the expense. Read Less

I cannot say enough about how pleased we are with this practice. I was introduced to them through a rescue group that I had adopted a Pom from. The staff is fantastic. They are friendly, efficient, and very professional. Dr. Gillaspie makes me feel very reassured that we are doing the absolute best for our pets. I do not feel they are a revenue generating machine, like I have experienced in the past with other practices. While there are many Vet practices in the area, we choose to drive an hour from our home for our animal care needs. They are that good. We are very happy to say we have found our pet care home with South Trail Animal Hospital. Read Less

My dog is almost 16, blind, has ambulatory issues, and some might say he is spoiled (lol).  He is full of mischief, drama, barking for absolutely no reason, and now that he is a senior, he goes to the potty when and where he feels like it.  Good times!  The South Trail Team takes SUCH good care of him when he boards.  I know that he must bark a lot and that he is a real handful, yet they seem to take this in stride and love him anyway.  Dr. Georgia Calloway, our vet, is knowledgeable, kind, and so very loving to my little dog.  She is just so nice, I want to hug her every time we see her.  She recently resolved a very uncomfortable problem our dog had for years that 3 other vets saw and did not treat successfully.  I so wish I had found Dr. Calloway and South Trail sooner.  Bonus: when you take your pet in for a visit, they call a day or two later to check on your pet and report back to the vet.  I just love that.  They are open 6 days per week and have extended hours M-F from 8 am to 8:30 pm so you don't have to take time off from work.  Again, I just wish I had found them sooner!!! I've been a client at STAH for 5 years and they've seen all of our fury friends (4 cats and 3 dogs) and a few of our scaly friends as well! Prior to my most recent experience I would refer all and everyone to this family vet. I loved this Vet and it breaks my heart to leave a 1* review. However in my most recent visit I had to take one of our beloved cats in for a dental exam  to determine wether our cat just needed a cleaning or would also require a tooth extraction. In 2013 this Feline had a dental cleaning and had two teeth extracted. The bill totaled out around $420.00 not so bad considering everything. I understand that billing and prices must go up with the times all of that is well and good. However upon receiving the estimate for only a dental cleaning the low range more than doubled at a whopping $850 and the high range was in the low $1200 range PLUS extractions!? I found this to be extremely expensive for this sort of procedure. Further more for my visit / exam just to see wether the cat needed a dental cleaning and / or extraction the poor fella was a bit anxious coming out of the cat carrier. The technician or vet Assistant left the room for about twenty minutes and came back with a small cat toy to "coax" the cat out of the carrier. At this point the cat was already out and on the table hanging out with his owners. the assistant left the toy in the room and then unbeknownst to us had the gall to charge $1.50 for a pet toy. I've had cats that've had dental cleanings, dogs that have come in for upset stomach, and a dog that had her CCL surgery performed by this vet. I've always trusted them until now. This charge for a cat toy and more than doubling their prices in the past few years have forced me to find another vet. Great veterinarian but they've priced themselves right up and out of my price range. Read Less

If you want to be taken advantage of, then this practice fits the criteria. A dental cleaning for my 13 year old toy poodle was estimated to be a high of 530$ I understand that was without extractions. Bye the way, his teeth were cleaned here in 2013 , and because I scheduled2 weeks past the 30 day time frame (during Christmas) they refused the 10 percent discount that was quoted. About 50$ on a 500$ bill(max quote). Left practice after taking my dogs to Dr Demonarco( who I like) after many years because of their horrible customer service. Returned for my 13 year old poodles teeth cleaning because I trust Dr DeMonarco, given a quote of a high of 530$ That became 983$ upon pick up. I understand he had teeth pulled, but once again with a bill of close to$1000 they said the 10 percent discount would be 32$( not off total bill)so for a difference of about60$, they refused to budge, said they would only release dog to us WITHOUT his antibiotic and pain medicine if we wanted the 10 percent discount! Guess his well being was not so important to them as that extra60$ on the bill of almost 1000$. They ( the staff and Dr Demonarco) said they have to do what the office manager Cindy says, no exceptions! This place is more interested in screwing the customer and making the most money possible. I am writing this review because after 24 years of all of my pets being patients at this hospital, I have become extremely disappointed.  Gathered my pets files and will be reporting Dr. Calloway as well as this hospital!  One of my kitties has worms from ingesting a flea.  I contacted the hospital to get deworming meds.  I explained how very tight money is for me..."no worries, come in and we will get you a pill then you can get another one in 3 weeks.  $75.00 charge."  Says Tiffany!  I get there yesterday and because my kitty hadn't been seen in a year, they REFUSED to give me medicine.  Said "bring him in and let us give him an exam and we can give you the medicine."  Mind you...this kitty is mainly indoors...goes on my lanai but not outside my fenced in lanai!  I asked why..."well, we just want to be sure nothing has changed, like his weight"  SERIOUSLY!?  He MAY be 1-2 pounds heavier.  Good Lord!  I begged them to please give him this medicine so the parasite doesn't make him more sick!!!  They said "NO!  Sorry, doctor said absolutely not"  WOW!!!  My reply "So this "doctor" would rather see my cat get more sick than to help him right now?!"  I offered to bring him in for a full exam when money got better in a few weeks.  Still  NO...sorry.  This makes me SICK !  To think this so called doctor for animals is REFUSING to help him get better!  Besides all this, they over charge tremendously but I continued to bring my pets there!  However, not after this!  NO WAY!!!  I have also had the rest of my family pull their pets files and will not be going back to this pathetic place.  Friends as well!  Because of my love of animals, I will continue to push for folks to NOT GO HERE!  OVERPRICED AND HEARTLESS!  It's very sad...And by the way...the "doctor" never even came out to talk to me.  Had her sad receptionists tell me.  I do know this...I understand state laws with vets, however, they told me it would be ok to come up and get the medicine!  So clearly Tiffany does not understand! I had a terrible experience. I rescue birds, my parrot hurt himself and was in much pain-the vet examined him and gave me a prescription for pain and inflammation. When I went to pay unbeknownst to me the card was over drawn so I paid the card down but the company said it would take 24 hours to post! I spoke to the office, I was able to put 1/3 of about $300.00 on my card, they took my card, had all my information, and had me sign that I would pay the rest but then took the medicine to relieve the birds suffering! I was appalled-where was the compassion, the commitment to help suffering animals! I immediately went to my bank, paid and left, never to darken their doors again. I am amazed-those who treat sick animals will be the first to encourage you to adopt-so many homeless animals waiting in shelters-yet they are the last to help you and will allow these innocent animals to suffer unless you pay right there and then, even when they have a promise note and hold your credit card for ransom! I understand that everybody has to make a buck in order to survive however, South Trail Animal Hospital (S.T.A.H.) charged me $50 for a week supply of piroxicam (6mg a day). My dog has cancer and I needed the medicine to make ME feel good. Like I am doing everything I can to make my dog comfortable and maybe extend her life. So I swiped my card and bang $50 gone. The Next day I called another vet who issued me a RX for my dog and told me to call BCP pharmacy from Texas or something like that. I purchased a month supply of the very same drug for $18. I received the medicine 2 days later, when I noticed that it was the same exact pharmacy that S.T.A.H. uses. HOLY COW! These MFers knew that I would buy the drug at any price and do anything to save my dogs life. They straight up jacked up the price up by $45.50($18 for a 4 week supply = $4.50 a week) I will never take my dog to South Trail Animal Hospital again. On a side note, I also boarded my dog at STAH for Labor Day weekend. This was before I knew how they were screwing me on the cost of the medicine. When I came to pick up my dog, she looked clean and happy to see me. I was happy to see her so we loaded up and got the heck out of there. Later that night I noticed her nose was rubbed raw, like she had some sort of muzzle on her. I cannot say for 100% that they put a muzzle on my dog for the entire weekend, but I do know that her nose was rubbed raw. And the screwed me on the price of the medicine, and I will never take my dog back to South Trail Animal Hospital. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less
