Jackie has lied to me. Her professional skills are lacking big time. Her people skills are just as bad. She doesn't even return a simple phone call. I had to find out from another source that she does no testing. But she doesn't even have common courtesie of returning a call. I have had dogs all my life and if she is the last veterinarian on the planet I would not trust as far as I could throw her. DO NOT TRUST YOUR LOVED ANIMALS WITH SUCH AN UNPROFESSIONAL PERSON. YOU MIGHT BE SORRY! TRUST ME SHE LET ME DOWN MORE THAN ONCE.

Dr. Casanova has been taking care of my Lab mix since he was a young pup and has too afraid to behave himself at the vet. He was in and out of vets constantly for skin infections and given antibiotics every time. When Dr. Casanova came she took us in the yard and showed us what plant he was having a bad reaction to. Plant gone, skin issues gone. She is amazing she has called in prescriptions for us when we are on vacation, and she saved my other dog from surgery for a ligament tear, by treated her with home-made glucosamine. Her care and compassion has helped my Lab mix get to the ripe old age of 13 and he still looks and acts like a puppy! She is the best thing I have ever done for my pets.

I have been using Dr. Casanova for two years. She helped me with my 18 year old cat until his little heart gave out and he had to be peacefully put to sleep on the end of my bed. She also is treating my 13.5 year old pit mix who has a weak heart with some Chinese herbs for circulation and we are already seeing a difference in the first 48 hours. I greatly appreciate her insights and care of our pets.

Kind, compassionate, wonderful. I am disabled, which makes any outing very difficult. Saharaha, my lil chi mix & therapy dog has serious colitis diagnosed 2 years ago & has recently been limping also....
Kind, compassionate, wonderful. I am disabled, which makes any outing very difficult. Saharaha, my lil chi mix & therapy dog has serious colitis diagnosed 2 years ago & has recently been limping also. We have ended up in the hospital often requiring IV fluids and meds to treat the colitis. Of course this sets off even more colitis. I see Dr. Ortiz at Shores & lover her dearly. Dr. Ortiz was able to prescribe some medication I can keep on hand to administer for colitis which has been very helpful. I personally wanted to do more for Saharaha and I was referred to Dr. Casanova by several friends & called her for an appointment. She came to my home which was so tremendously wonderful for myself and Saharaha. I wanted to discuss any option I wasn't currently using for additional colitis treatment & her joint pain. Dr. Casanova got right down on the floor just listening and asking questions & just let Saharaha do her own thing. Dr. Casanova reviewed her current feeding plan, prior treatments, current medications & recent medical care. I learned so much during this visit. Dr. Casanova taught me some pressure points, massage, additional foods & provided me some of her homemade stock. She also encouraged me to call when Saharaha has her next colitis issue and she would come over & assist me. I learned so much during this visit. I've put all of her instructions to use & I have to say I was surprised at how everything she suggested was very easy for me to do & how very small the little tweeks here and there. Saharaha has turned into a puppy again. I mean she is feeling so much better she just wants to play. I haven't seen her do this in years. She isn't even limping anymore and haven't had another colitis attack since, but feel confident if one should arise.
More importantly Dr. Casanova's visit didn't cause another colitis attack.
I've seen some of the other posts and feel terrible for their experience, however that really wasn't mine. I would suggest anyone to call her.

Avoid disaster. Misdiagnosed my cat's compound fracture as an abscess in his tail during a home visit - did not clean nor wrap it, insisted I buy dewormer and left. I came home from work the next day and my cat was non-responsive. Three thousand dollars in emergency services later, I wished I had taken him to a reputable vet. She never returned any of my calls. The vintage doctor bag is cute, but if you love your pet bring them somewhere legit.

Dr. Jackie worked with our old Siamese who suffered from seizures. When she met with our cat Mau she provided acupuncture, which appeared to immediately calm him. She also provided Eastern based medicine for Mau and after a month or two the seizures were almost completely gone! We are so grateful Dr. Jackie was able to help our Mau. She is very kind and patient. I would trust her with any animal.

I sought out Dr. Jackie Casanova and her in-home natural approach when my beloved Jack Russell,Buster,now 17, began to have age-related issues with anxiety and back leg weakness...he has responded well to her sensitive care---so well, that I recently worked through my revulsion when she suggested that I make chicken feet broth to help his back leg mobility...within a short time, the results have been remarkable...Dr. Casanova has greatly improved Buster's quality of life, and he and I are both grateful that his care is in her very competent and loving hands.....

I really enjoyed my experience with Dr. Casanova. She worked with my German shepherd/lab mix who appeared to be in great pain. We were very concerned and were unsure what was wrong with her. Jackie spent over an hour working with our dog Nella, massaging certain areas and our dog appeared much calmer and relaxed afterwards. Dr. Casanova recommended some treatments for Nella and we could see the difference after a few weeks. Dr. Casanova is very caring with animals and spends a great deal of attention with them to provide appropriate care.

We have used Jackie as our vet for quite a few years now and we love her and so do our pets. She's great and also very caring. We live on a small suburban farm and have lots of creatures here. When they see her truck pull in the yard, they all jump for joy. They think she's one of their best friends and of course she gives them excellent care. We love her.

I've been in Gainesville since 1998, and in my experience--Dr. Jackie is the BEST vet. in town by far. I read that other reviews, and I empathize with the authors about what happened to their animals. However, in my own experience, and in those of my friends; I have seen Dr. Jackie bring pets back from deathbeds that other vets. had given up on. She has always responded back to me within 24 hours of leaving a message, and has a great bedside manner with the dogs. As she is a mobile vet. and cannot fit a full laboratory in her truck, there are some tests that she cannot perform. In those rare instances, she has not hesitated to refer me to a clinic with the needed diagnostics.
To the gentleman who referred to Dr. Jackie as "Ms. Casanova": I empathize with what happened to your dog, but the fact is that living things get sick and die. I had a Chow mix who lived to be nearly 14 BECAUSE of Dr. Jackie, and as hard as it was; she helped me let him go when it was time (natural causes). Cancer killed your pet not Dr. Jackie.

I was sorry to read Jay's review. My experience with Jackie wasn't any better. About 5 years ago I had a rottweiler mix with cancer, and she kept recommending me feed him these homeopathic powder mixes that just made him not want to eat and did no good what-so-ever. In the end I realize I just made my dog's last days even more uncomfortable when he was dying of cancer.
Then their was my pit-bull mix that had skin problems. My dog had major skin irritation and you could see how red her skin was through her short white fur. Ear infections followed, and after 3-4 visits with Ms Casanova things had just gotten worse. I took my dog to another vet, and the problems were solved immediately. As it turns out, simply sending some skin scrapings in to a lab would have solved this problem, but Ms Casanova did not do so.
I do not think she is a competent vet...

He was in and out of vets constantly for skin infections and given antibiotics every time. When Dr. Casanova came she took us in the yard and showed us what plant he was having a bad reaction to. Plant gone, skin issues gone. I have been using Dr. Casanova for two years. She helped me with my 18 year old cat until his little heart gave out and he had to be peacefully put to sleep on the end of my bed. She also is treating my 13.5 year old pit mix who has a weak heart with some Chinese herbs for circulation and we are already seeing a difference in the first 48 hours. Saharaha, my lil chi mix & therapy dog has serious colitis diagnosed 2 years ago & has recently been limping also. We have ended up in the hospital often requiring IV fluids and meds to treat the colitis. Of course this sets off even more colitis. I see Dr. Ortiz at Shores & lover her dearly. I've been in Gainesville since 1998, and in my experience--Dr. Jackie is the BEST vet. in town by far. I read that other reviews, and I empathize with the authors about what happened to their animals. However, in my own experience, and in those of my friends; I have seen Dr. Jackie bring pets back from deathbeds that other vets. had given up on. She has always responded back to me within 24 hours of leaving a message, and has a great bedside manner with the dogs. About 5 years ago I had a rottweiler mix with cancer, and she kept recommending me feed him these homeopathic powder mixes that just made him not want to eat and did no good what-so-ever. In the end I realize I just made my dog's last days even more uncomfortable when he was dying of cancer.
Then their was my pit-bull mix that had skin problems. My dog had major skin irritation and you could see how red her skin was through her short white fur. Ear infections followed, and after 3-4 visits with Ms Casanova things had just gotten worse. I took my dog to another vet, and the problems were solved immediately. As it turns out, simply sending some skin scrapings in to a lab would have solved this problem, but Ms Casanova did not do so.
I do not think she is a competent vet...
