We used West Location- KNOW WHAT THE FEES ARE BEFORE YOU AGREE TO ANYTHING. This business is very versed in up-sales in the heat of the moment while your dog is under sedation. We found this vet by purchasing a Fix It All Voucher for $50 per dog. We get a call a few days later and they go over at least 15 mins of up sale options for your animal including micro chipping, IV bag during surgery, blood tests etc. When we get there to drop off the dog there was another 10 minutes of up-sale options for your dog including the cones for $20, pet programs, microchipping and more. Then while the pets were under sedation we got 2 calls from the vet technician with more highly recommended items they needed to do. 1- removing 3 baby teeth from a dog that just turned 5 months old and I told them that and they still pushed to have that done saying it was a discount today (since they were asleep already) for $60 but if it needed to be done late it would be over $400. 2- her ear was red. I told the vet when we got the dog 2 weeks ago she was infested with fleas and she was highly allergic and that’s why it was red and they insisted on doing a culture on the ear for $36 and they wanted to do an ear flush for $160 and then charging us $35 for the medication for her ear. If we waited it would be over $400 they said. All these items will be brought up to you in the heat of the moment while your dog is under sedation medicine and when you are already worried about your pet. So a service that was supposed to cost $50 per pet to have them fixed ended up costing $250 per pet. More than most vets charged not paying $100 total for the FIX THEM ALL PROGRAM. The vet did a fantastic job but please be aware before you purchase the vouchers that if it sounds too good to be true it really is. Obviously we used the FIX THEM ALL program because we didn’t have the money to pay $500 to fix them but wanted to do the right thing by our pet. Please don’t be fooled in thinking this is going to save you any money. It actually costed us more money and a 2 hour drive to and from lake city twice. Read Less

Have been taking our pets here for years more out of location convenience than any particular loyalty to a certain vet there. Most of the time my experiences are fine, the vets and techs are great with the animals and nice to us. Occasionally feel as if I'm being over charged for little things and tests and fees are added on without my knowledge or previous consent. The $100 bloodwork that was never asked for or approved by us added to an already high bill and that was annoying. I agree with a previous reviewer about that and to make sure to speak up and be aware of what you're being charged for. Not everything they suggest is necessary. Overall a good place to take your pets though. Read Less

Great service! I have taken both my medium (45lbs)and small dog (9lbs) for vet service and boarding. We had a terrible experience at Newberry Animal Hospital. Our medium dog was completely traumatized and refused to leave her bed for a week after we got her back from a 3 day boarding stay. GAH East was a complete 180. Our dogs seem more at ease there and don't even bark when in the office. I highly recommend the vaccines for life program. We have already saved money on our year old puppy. They won't nickel and dime you and are very clear about prices upfront. Read Less

Had issue with charge for the complete blood work ($194.11 for each) that they did. They like to have standard baseline information.  It is a very broad report that they said they wanted for office records but too rich for my budget.  Was not aware this was for their records and most not necessary for my concerns. They did not suggest doing lab work specific for the issues.  If you go there feel empowered to speak up and advocate for your animal and question tests you do not want to pay for. An antibiotic prescribed for one dog which "to prevent an infection" for his many open sores.  This vet said it was "dry skin".  An exam at other vet I learned that the dose of the antibiotic was half what was needed for "staph infection", which they said "was not communicable".  In humans it is, but then I am just a retired registered nurse.Another of their client spoke highly of this office while I waited. The owner of Gainesville Veterinary West met with me and we reviewed the issues I was dissatisfied with.  He offered a full refund.  He was very respectful and gracious to me.  I removed most all my complaint but wanted to inform future clients about asserting yourself when full panel of labs are recommended. My bill was for $713 but they gave me a senior discount of $65.  But they gave me a full credit.  Don't hesitate to ask to talk to the owner. He is very reasonable, and wants good public relations. On Feb. 2, I had to make on of the hardest decisions. I had to put my baby down. I took her to the Gainesville Animal Hospital West. They were not her vet and they made her an appointment at the last minute and took her back to care for her. They tried their hardest but Heffa was really sick. They spent a good 2 hours caring for her. They were very Kind, caring, and sympothized for us. Today I received a card from them in the mail and they all took their time to write a personal note to us. I will be taking the rest of my pets to them for now on. They have a program for free vaccines for life program, for my big dogs it will be 196.18 each and my small dog 138.00 one time fee. It's a really good program and the service and the love they have for the animals are outstanding. I recommend them to anyone. Read Less

I was a vet tech with Gainesville Animal Hospital from 2012-2014. I did not have a seamless separation from the company, to say the least. Still, considering their prices I continued to take my three cats for annual care there. Friday night around midnight Lulu, a ten year old cat, broke her left rear leg in a spiral fracture. My partner, Raven, and I discussed taking her to the emergency vet clinic that night or wait until the morning. We decided to have her seen in the morning. I took her to Gainesville Animal Hospital East located on 6th street. Lulu was seen by Dr. Jake Saunders (a vet that I never worked with when I was employed by GAH). Given her age and the type of fracture it was our options were to amputate or take to a specialty surgeon. We elected to amputate. Dr. Saunders created an estimate for the surgery. The estimate included post op care. I explained to him that I was previously employed by GHA as a vet tech and would be able to provide her with post op care. He said he would need to speak with his mentor to see if it would be okay to release Lulu to me for post op care. He called his mentor and confirmed it would be okay. He scheduled her surgery first thing Monday morning and sent Lulu home with pain medication. He instructed to have her dropped off at the West location between 7-7:30AM. This morning, Monday, October 24, 2016 at 7:30AM, Raven went to Gainesville Animal Hospital West to drop Lulu off for surgery. Erica, the office manager who played a great hand in my separation from GAH, informed Raven that they were refusing to do the surgery on Lulu. When asked why, Erica told Raven it was because of my negative affiliation with the hospital. Erica informed Raven that they were not going to do the surgery and that Lulu, a cat that was going on a fourth day of a broken leg, would have to be taken elsewhere. Erica said this decision was made by the owner of the hospitals, Dr. Jack Sameck. She told Raven that she had attempted to call me on Saturday to inform us of this decision. Interestingly, I do not have any missed phone calls of voice mails from GAH. Both Raven and I have been calling vet clinic after vet clinic to try and find a hospital that will do her surgery. I am so infuriated by the overall lack of patient care by Dr. Sameck and his staff. I am appalled that they are focused on personal issues that they have against me instead of the well-being of an injured animal that they had agreed to treat prior to today. How can a vet clinic refuse care to an animal in need of surgery and is in pain? It disturbs me not that Dr. Sameck holds a personal grudge against me, it hurts me that he directed his distaste for my person against a helpless animal in dire need of veterinary care.Read Less

The reason as to why I am writing this review is due to the fact that Gainesville Animal Hospital went above and beyond when providing service for my three dogs. This is the BEST veterinary clinic in Gainaesville, FL. Lindsey from the West clinic as well as Amanda and Paula from the East clinic are simply awesome. Every time I have a question, they go above and beyond to give me an answer on a promptly manner. Every time my dogs are prescribed medicine, they carefully explain to me how to administer the medicine to the point in which I never have to call back for further clarification. It is evident that they have my dogs best interest in mind. Moreover, Dr. Ray Sujdak is extremely knowledgeable and delicate with my dogs. I trust Dr. Sujdak with my dogs without any reservation. Really, my dogs and myself truly love visiting the clinic because they are gentle and professional. The office is immaculate, and it has all of these great touches such as the counter to hook your leash. The clinic is simply perfect. The staff is amazing, so friendly and helpful on so many levels. I have had nothing but the best experience every time I've been in. They always look for the best and cost effective route for curing a problem. The manager, Erica, treated me with disrespect, telling me that my dog being uncomfortable was "not a priority" enough for her to call me, I only learned when I called to check the next day. My poochie was a nightmare dressed like a daydream! Until one day when I went in and found Carlos the dog trainer's flyer, I was like what's so different about him, I already went for private training and my dog is still a crazy nightmare, then I read on and saw that he did drop off training and over night boot camp. I immediately contacted him and met him on a Sunday and left my Bull Terrier Pit for 2wk boot camp, she actually took an extra wk cause she was so stubborn, When I went to pick her up 3 wks later, he gave me and my son training so everything is consistent with what he taught her. I took her home did what he said before we got in the house, she was so calm, didn't chase the cats, I was impressed, then I took her out for a walk, with the cats zooming by, she didn't pay them any mind, didn't pull me down the street, she walked next to me, she is like a different dog, I took her to the pet store, omg, I came out of there calm instead in an anxiety attack, she was calm, stayed by me, didn't go nuts and not barking at everything. I have to say Carlos is a dog miracle worker, you have to contact him at Gainesville Animal Hospital if you have a dog that's crazy hyper, or just needs some behavioral modifications, you won't be sorry.

They treat my puppies with love and care, not just as another pet. If you are from the Gainesville FL area, you NEED to visit this clinic. It is in your dogs best interest. Read Less

Do not board your dogs here! They will come back smelling horrible. The manager, Erica, treated me with disrespect, telling me that my dog being uncomfortable was "not a priority" enough for her to call me, I only learned when I called to check the next day. She told me that "that kind of dog" was not welcome in the hospital because he was abused before I rescued him and he is male aggressive. He was scared, and the manager made him sound like some sort of evil dog. He is a sweet boy who has never bitten anyone. The doctor who made this decision is the owner of the practice! Unacceptable.
