Have been taking our pets here for years more out of location convenience than any particular loyalty to a certain vet there. Most of the time my experiences are fine, the vets and techs are great with the animals and nice to us. Occasionally feel as if I'm being over charged for little things and tests and fees are added on without my knowledge or previous consent. The $100 bloodwork that was never asked for or approved by us added to an already high bill and that was annoying. I agree with a previous reviewer about that and to make sure to speak up and be aware of what you're being charged for. Not everything they suggest is necessary. Overall a good place to take your pets though. Read Less

We’ve been using Gainesville Animal Hospital (GVAH) since we moved to GV in 1980. Our family has never been without our beloved puppies. Occasionally with a new rescue adoption we would try another Vet but always found our way home to GVAH. Our girls love the entire GVAH staff and so do we! Our Christmas pic ... darn it won’t let me post a pic. Most recently we rescued a lil pup Maddey who at 12 1/2 weeks developed an abdominal hernia strangulating her bowel. Dr. Sujdak and his staff saved her life! They never once hesitated to give her and us the best care ever. We feel like family every time we walk in the door. Thank you Dr. Sujdak and all his amazing staff. We will forever be thankful and never stray again from GVAH!!! We love you guys! Thank you for always being wonderful!!Read Less

All of the doctors are amazing, but Dr. Sujdak (GAH East) really has made an impression on our family. We recently adopted a new puppy who just stole our heart from day one. She is the sweetest girl in the world but unfortunately at 13 weeks suffered from a strangulating bowel hernia. The minute we noticed her acting odd we took her in and Sujdak did everything he could think of to figure out what could be wrong. Two days later I brought her back because she was still sufferi...ng. After another exam he decided he needed to do exploratory surgery and he just looked heart broken. I can tell that Sujdak genuinely cares for all of our babies and all he wanted was to help our little Maddey. We gave him the go ahead and he immediately took her to surgery and found the hernia. He called us right away for approval to continue and saved our babies little life. Throughout the whole process he has checked in on our little girl and made sure that he is updated on her well being. Maddey has stolen all of their hearts and in turn, they have stolen ours. I strongly recommended Gainesville Animal Hospital for your fur babies. Thank all of you at GAH for loving our pups and giving us piece of mind when they are with you. YA’LL ARE AWESOME!!! I recently got a new puppy and decided on Gainesville Animal Hospital because it is close to my home and because I have known the owner for many years. While Dr. Sameck does not work out of this location, I was impressed with his associate. I really like the "Free Vaccines for Life" program that Gainesville Animal Hospital has. Basically, you pay a nominal one time enrollment fee and with only a few exceptions, all of your vaccines are free. The prices for other services at this animal hospital are comparable to other veterinarians, so it really comes down to the quality of the staff and doctors for me. If your are looking for a veterinarian who will talk to you in plain English and answer all of your questions thoroughly (not watching the clock), then I highly recommend any if Gainesville Animal Hospital's three locations (East, West and Archer). My senior dachshund was in a lot of back pain so after a friend referred me to the East location, I walked right in. Everyone was engaging and nice. The vet was great. He showed me what to look for and such in regards to back injuries- which this breed is prone to. He surmised a muscle pull so didn't even want to get unnecessary tests. Prescribed an anti inflammatory and muscle relaxer (plus making the dog rest). What a huge difference too. Doggo is so much better and more like himself in less than 24 hours. Thanks to all. I highly recommend. Read Less

They are very sketchy about the life-time free shots. (You pay $70 for life time shot plus $50 a year for check up in order to keep the free shot. )Don't do the plan it's not worth it because you still have to pay for other fees. Not worth the money. Also they like to give you a surprised bill if you don't ask about the cost of the service. I brought my dog there for an eye check up and it seems like the vet is not so sure of what he needs to do. Because the vet wants to do an eye stain, however, he also want to refer my dog to another vet. Not sure what is the purpose of referring me if he think the eye stain or the check up will not help the dog. What is the point of charging for service if he is not sure what he can really do to help? Eh forget about the check up $ and the " $70 life time free shot" because is not free I still have to pay for "dog tag" what a waste of time and money I will never go back. Also with home remedy my dog eye is 100% cure. I felt so dumb after spending $68 for the last eye check up. Read Less

Had issue with charge for the complete blood work ($194.11 for each) that they did. They like to have standard baseline information.  It is a very broad report that they said they wanted for office records but too rich for my budget.  Was not aware this was for their records and most not necessary for my concerns. They did not suggest doing lab work specific for the issues.  If you go there feel empowered to speak up and advocate for your animal and question tests you do not want to pay for. An antibiotic prescribed for one dog which "to prevent an infection" for his many open sores.  This vet said it was "dry skin".  An exam at other vet I learned that the dose of the antibiotic was half what was needed for "staph infection", which they said "was not communicable".  In humans it is, but then I am just a retired registered nurse.Another of their client spoke highly of this office while I waited. The owner of Gainesville Veterinary West met with me and we reviewed the issues I was dissatisfied with.  He offered a full refund.  He was very respectful and gracious to me.  I removed most all my complaint but wanted to inform future clients about asserting yourself when full panel of labs are recommended. My bill was for $713 but they gave me a senior discount of $65.  But they gave me a full credit.  Don't hesitate to ask to talk to the owner. He is very reasonable, and wants good public relations. On Feb. 2, I had to make on of the hardest decisions. I had to put my baby down. I took her to the Gainesville Animal Hospital West. They were not her vet and they made her an appointment at the last minute and took her back to care for her. They tried their hardest but Heffa was really sick. They spent a good 2 hours caring for her. They were very Kind, caring, and sympothized for us. Today I received a card from them in the mail and they all took their time to write a personal note to us. I will be taking the rest of my pets to them for now on. They have a program for free vaccines for life program, for my big dogs it will be 196.18 each and my small dog 138.00 one time fee. It's a really good program and the service and the love they have for the animals are outstanding. I recommend them to anyone. Read Less

I was a vet tech with Gainesville Animal Hospital from 2012-2014. I did not have a seamless separation from the company, to say the least. Still, considering their prices I continued to take my three cats for annual care there. Friday night around midnight Lulu, a ten year old cat, broke her left rear leg in a spiral fracture. My partner, Raven, and I discussed taking her to the emergency vet clinic that night or wait until the morning. We decided to have her seen in the morning. I took her to Gainesville Animal Hospital East located on 6th street. Lulu was seen by Dr. Jake Saunders (a vet that I never worked with when I was employed by GAH). Given her age and the type of fracture it was our options were to amputate or take to a specialty surgeon. We elected to amputate. Dr. Saunders created an estimate for the surgery. The estimate included post op care. I explained to him that I was previously employed by GHA as a vet tech and would be able to provide her with post op care. He said he would need to speak with his mentor to see if it would be okay to release Lulu to me for post op care. He called his mentor and confirmed it would be okay. He scheduled her surgery first thing Monday morning and sent Lulu home with pain medication. He instructed to have her dropped off at the West location between 7-7:30AM. This morning, Monday, October 24, 2016 at 7:30AM, Raven went to Gainesville Animal Hospital West to drop Lulu off for surgery. Erica, the office manager who played a great hand in my separation from GAH, informed Raven that they were refusing to do the surgery on Lulu. When asked why, Erica told Raven it was because of my negative affiliation with the hospital. Erica informed Raven that they were not going to do the surgery and that Lulu, a cat that was going on a fourth day of a broken leg, would have to be taken elsewhere. Erica said this decision was made by the owner of the hospitals, Dr. Jack Sameck. She told Raven that she had attempted to call me on Saturday to inform us of this decision. Interestingly, I do not have any missed phone calls of voice mails from GAH. Both Raven and I have been calling vet clinic after vet clinic to try and find a hospital that will do her surgery. I am so infuriated by the overall lack of patient care by Dr. Sameck and his staff. I am appalled that they are focused on personal issues that they have against me instead of the well-being of an injured animal that they had agreed to treat prior to today. How can a vet clinic refuse care to an animal in need of surgery and is in pain? It disturbs me not that Dr. Sameck holds a personal grudge against me, it hurts me that he directed his distaste for my person against a helpless animal in dire need of veterinary care.Read Less

Do not board your dogs here! They will come back smelling horrible. The manager, Erica, treated me with disrespect, telling me that my dog being uncomfortable was "not a priority" enough for her to call me, I only learned when I called to check the next day. He was scared, and the manager made him sound like some sort of evil dog. He is a sweet boy who has never bitten anyone. The doctor who made this decision is the owner of the practice! Unacceptable.
