Haley was having ear aches and once a tumor in her ear was discovered, she had her surgery there and we couldn't have asked for more caring and compassionate people to look after her . I like Millhopper in general, but Dr. Wilkening is AWFUL. I had mother's intuition that my last cat had bladder cancer and he did no testing after checking her urine and said "oh, she'll be fine," and gave her multiple different medicines and nothing worked. I finally took her to a different vet and, what do you know. My cat died a month and a half later from bladder cancer. I took my new kitten there and they put her with Dr. Wilkening for her new kitten visit. I said I felt like she had an upper respiratory infection and, again, he said "that's normal, she'll be fine!" Two months later the sneezing turns into foggy eyes. Took her back to the vet that found the cancer and, oh look, upper respiratory infection. Do not go here, and if you do, DO NOT see Dr. Wilkening. I'm sure he has a good education but he is TOO trusting that nothing is wrong and, like my first kitten, it could cost them their life. Go to the Oaks Veterinary on 75th St, they have yet to disappoint and are the only ones who have caught everything. Dr. Kessler caught the cancer and Dr. King caught the infection. Read Less

Not only did this place provide great veterinary care to my pets, they also provided great customer service. I recently moved out of state and put in applications for adopting a new dog. I called the office to give my permission for the adoption agency to gain access to my records but they were closed so I left a voicemail figuring I'd have to follow up because my previous vet experience had been sub par. Not only did the office receive the message and speak with the agency they also sent an email with my pets records without me even asking for it. I thought this was very thoughtful. Going to this clinic has literally been a godsend to us. When I moved to Gainesville and rescued my lab,I went to so many vets and have had unfortunate experiences. I saw Millhopper on my way home and gave it a shot. Dr. Harris is absolutely amazing! He is so considerate to my dogs needs and he is so nervous going to the vet and he accommodates that as well. I’ve never met a person that loves what he does and the patients he has as much as Dr. Harris. I recently adopted my doxie and she goes there and they are absolutely amazing with her too! I highly recommend going here for your pets. The price is higher than normal but they always tell you the price up front. Took our 8 yr old lab to see Dr Mark Harris at Millhopper Vet today and was greeted with very professional front office staff, waited in comfortable waiting room (coffee and snack machine!) and waited only a short time to be put in a room. While I cant speak to the other vets there, Dr Harris is exceptional! His manner is gentle, thorough, offering all options and open to discuss your ideas in treating your animal. He doesn't pressure in the least, just explains everything and lets you decide what is best for your situation. I didnt feel rushed at all, allowing me to have all my questions/concerns addressed fully. I've read rave reviews for Dr Harris, and now understand first hand how amazing he is. My experience with Millhopper started before I got my dog. I took my roommate's dog for boarding and appointments a few times for her. Everyone was nice and super helpful. When I got my puppy I knew I was going to use them as my vet. It's super easy to make appointments (you can call or request one online). The front desk staff is always super friendly.  My vet is Dr. Ward and she's great. Very gentle with my puppy and super sweet. All the vet techs are also great! They even called me after appointments to see how my puppy was doing! I really appreciated all the help Mallory gave me with dog insurance and Desiree for talking to the vet and calling me back to see if I should bring her back in. I haven't gone to many vets but I really like Millhopper. The staff is very friendly especially Dr. Harris. I have been booking appointments just to do annual check ups and shots. And I have come by for an a tartar removal.I was a bit anxious dropping off my cat but it turned out everything was okay. Millhopper Veterinary Medical Center is very well put together. The staff is friendly, competent and willing to work with you. There's no runaround, nor in any of my visits there, did I feel like things were being inflated or that I felt like I was being taken advantage of. Caring about your pets is a tricky business, and it's pretty easy for people to bend you over a rail, due to that. This is entirely not the case with MVMC. It was plainly obvious from the get-go, that their primary concern was the health and well being of my pet. They are my Vet of choice and I would recommend them to anyone. Took my dog in for an exam and felt that she was in good hands and well checked. Got fecal and blood work done. Everything was fine and got some meds to help her get over the digestive and nausea problems. I like this veterinary and will continue to take my dogs here. I brought my cat in this past weekend. Dr. Devlin went out of her way to take care of him. I have very limited income, and I was afraid my cat was going to die.In desperation, I called Millhopper vet Center, hoping they could help me figure out what to do until I got paid. Dr. Devlin went WAY out of her way to make sure I could get my kitty in that day. She was so wonderful with him, and took great care of him. ( my kitty gets scared at the vet.) This is the best vet office that I have ever taken my dogs to see. You can tell they really care about the welfare of the animals and not just getting a bigger paycheck. There are times when my budget has been tighter than others and an unexpected issue has come up with my dog. During those times I have let them know the price point I am looking to stay under and they have always worked with me and provided multiple options with varying prices for the treatment of my pup. I also somewhat recently had an emergency and they got me in and saw my dog within 20 minutes and even gave a follow up visit that included x-rays for no additional cost. They really go above and beyond, doing things like making follow up phone calls to make sure your pet is doing well after receiving treatment. I just moved to the area and chose to try this vet on a whim based off a google search...they are fantastic! I felt so welcome by everyone there and the staff was so nice and accommodating. Dr. Harris was so kind and genuinely cared about my pets and took the time to explain everything thoroughly. The tech, Rachel, was also very sweet and loving to my pets! I originally was just supposed to bring my cat for an annual, but brought my dog along for the ride and they didn't hesitate to make sure she was healthy too! I've tried many different vets around town and this is the best by far. Prices are awesome, the staff is very attentive and nice, and the vets are out of this world. They will not try and screw you into something that you don't need for your animal. I've had to put one of my dogs down and they show you the utmost respect when going through a difficult time. They give you options of what you could do before you get to that point but they also tell you what will happen so you don't end up spending an outrageous amount of money. I'm a little disappointed with their office staff. I went in a few months ago to get monthly flea and a parasite medicine for my cats and I was given the wrong order. They were going to give me less than what I had paid for. It took several minutes to explain why it was the wrong amount. If I hadn't noticed I would have ended up paying for items I hadn't received. It was a bit unnerving that the office rep didn't check the amounts or confirm my order. This time around, I decided to go on 1-800 Pet Meds to fill the prescription. The medicine is less expensive on there and I wanted to avoid any problems. Plus I don't have a car... So it's a hassle to go there anyways. I called to ask them to approve the prescription and the office rep told me they did receive it but they've been too busy to fax it back. It's been three days since they received it. I find it hard to believe it takes this long to fax an approval back. She also asked me why I chose to go through another provider. I told her it was just more convenient for me. And I asked when they would get to it. She said "when we get around to it". Is that a day? A week?? I asked if she could elaborate with a timeline and she refused to. The whole conversation made me feel uneasy. Like they just wanted to make it harder to order online through a website so I would be forced to go into the office. I mean I understand you're a business and want to make money off of products you sell but you're also a place thats supppsed to look out for the wellbeing of animals. The longer it takes the more susceptible my cats are to getting fleas. I've been taking my two cats to Millhopper Vet for over 4 years. So it's really disappointing... Based on my past two interactions with the office staff I think I will go somewhere else for their vet visits. Read Less

My daughter a college student, took her kitten to be neutered and have the hiv test and shots done. They told her that her cat had a heart murmur and needed and echocardiogram done in order for them to make sure he could be neutered. She called me crying and told me it was going to cost over $600 to neuter her cat. I told her to get the shots and test and I would take him and have him checked at my vet. They wouldn't even test him because they said "he's just too mean" WHAT?? You are suppose to be a vets office. And a 6 month old kitten was "too mean"? I took him to my vet, they heard no heart murmur, he was neutered, they did the test and gave him his shots and the grand total was $83. And they said he was a perfect gentleman. Absolutely NO problems! This vets office is a joke. They are ALL about money, even trying to take advantage of a college student. Ridiculous. My advice: find a reputable, vets office that isn't out to just take your money, but actually cares about your animals. Karma will get you thieves.Read Less

I'm not too happy about the care I received yesterday. The vet and assistants seemed to treat my new kitten based off the things I said rather than running testing themselves. I just found lice on his fur and they didn't even check during his visit. Also, one of the ladies up front was rude about my kitten being out of his carrier. It's a vet for heaven's sake!! Been using them as my puppy's primary vet for 6 months already. Great experience overall.As a new puppy owner, I was very nervous when it came to my puppy's behavior. A little change from his regular routine or any slight behavior change would get me worried. Thankfully the staff and vets here at MVMC were very patient and always willing to help answer any questions I have, in depth. I received great suggestions on food choices, grooming supplies, and was very informed about every vaccine they were giving him. Not only do they show me they care about my puppy but they also help make owning a pet affordable with their coupons and regular deals. They've even addressed my concerns over my puppy's health over the phone while I was away. They truly care for the health and wellness of your furry companions.There was one time where my puppy was teething. He was very uncomfortable and would whine because he wasn't able to eat, play, or drink without the loose tooth causing discomfort. I called his vet and asked if it would be possible to remove the tooth. His vet suggested to let the tooth fall on its own because a procedure would scare him more and he is too young at the time that the risks will outweigh the benefits. Instead she prescribed my puppy a low dose pain killer and it was ready once I arrived (within 20 minutes). They also have a boarding and daycare service. Which is a great plus! Who else better to entrust my dog to than his own doctor that knows his temperament and a friendly staff that won't hesitate to give him the attention he wants.
