When we first moved to Gainesville from Pittsburgh, we put off finding a vet for our glaring (that is what you call a group of cats... or clowder, pounce, nuisance, or clutter. For feral cats it's a destruction. And of course a group of kittens: litter, kindle, intrigue) because finding a new vet is tough. Who can you trust? Who doesn't charge and arm and a leg? I'll tell you who, Oaks Veterinary Hospital. My neighbor recommended Dr. Dean-Kesler and so do I (but ALL the other docs I have encountered are great, too!) She listens to what you have to say and gives honest opinions. She is extremely knowledgeable and easy to communicate with! I'll just leave it at that.NOT TO MENTION Oaks animal Wellness plans are AMAZING. They really are trying to save you money here. (Trust me, in Pittsburgh, I had a full workup done on my now 17 year old kitty, plus had to have a tooth pulled, and we spent well over a $1,300. I even called around to other places in the area and got quotes on all the stuff I needed to be done and the cheapest was $1,000.) Here I got ALL the same things done for almost half that (minus having a tooth pulled, which is always extra by a couple hundred depending on the situation, but at least the Wellness plan covers a dental cleaning and thankfully we did not need another tooth pulled.) Also, the medicated food prices (if you buy by the case) are better than at Petsmart and they usually have a coupon. I LOVE a good coupon! Another great option for the yearly Wellness plan is the office visit fee is 1/3 of the regular fee. All this, and not to mention the boarding fees are reasonably priced AND you have the added security of your fur baby staying in an actual hospital, just in case of an emergency. As I said earlier, I have an elderly pet, multiple medications and special needs and they don't even charge me extra for all that. NEVER CHANGE OAKS!Anyway, I highly suggest you bring all your fur babies to this establishment. My sister has even decided to SWITCH VETS because she was so impressed when she went with me to my cat's first appointment. I truly cannot say enough great things about Dr. Dean-Kesler and the staff at Oaks Vet Hospital. It's comforting to know your pet's best interest is at heart and you are not just a dollar sign.
