Dr. Barbosa and his staff are fantastic. The doctor really knows what he's doing, and does it in a kind and caring way. The staff are always there to help out when needed. Monday evening I drop Pima off my pet cat to be spayed. I was un ease at first because it was the first night she was not with us. I've been taking my two chihuahuas to this clinic for many years. I was always satisfied medically but thought that this is way too pricey and thus never recommended them publicly... Well, this year I decided to save some time and take my dogs to the vet closer to my house in Aventura. I thought i did my (google) research and ended up at bayshore clinic. There the same dental work was estimated at three times as much and the young and pretty doctor (probably an intern) has warned me about such likely possibilities as breaking a jaw (well, its so tiny and delicate and my dogs are so old after all...) and other interesting outcomes... When I warned dr Barbosa of being careful with a jaw he just laughed and asked how old was that dr I saw before... Thank god I came back to this clinic! My dogs are feeling wonderful and i paid $1300 instead of $3300 (likely to increase they noted...hehe). After this many years Im finally highly recommend this clinic! Read Less

Started coming here a little over a year ago with my cat, and now more recently with my dog. Dr Barbosa is not only a very smart and skilled vet, but he's always friendly, engaging, and empathetic to the needs of my fur babies. He takes his time during the exam and always answers my 10 million questions. He's very patient and very kind and you can tell he loves what he does AND he loves the pets in his care. Very good veterinarian who cares about animals. He took the time to explain my cat's X-rays to me and all of the staff were courteous and professional. Their prices are also very reasonable. Very special thanks to Dr. Barbosa and his great staff I have two beautiful dogs that I call them furry children. Over years, I had brought them to Hallandale animal hospital for two different surgeries -patellar luxation and hernia-. Result? They recovered as if there was nothing. A few days ago, my husband woke up with one of them made a mistake, we all thought it was an accident. By the time I go to work, he had diarrhea. I called the other vet that I took them since I moved, they advised me to starve him for a day. I had a feeling that it wasnt usual. I called Hallandale animal hospital, they asked me to bring him in, which I did. By the time that I brought him to the hospital, he was bleeding uncontrollably. Poor my little baby was getting cold. He had bacterial infection in his intestine. The whole staff was very attentive, Dr. Barbosa and his medical staffs started preparation before any payment discussion. My baby was hospitalized under a strong painkiller and IV for two days. Finally on day 3, he STOOD UP! If you are looking for a vet who you can trust, meet Hallandale Animal hospital. Over so many visits to see him, hospital staffs were always nice and caring. I am very glad that I did not trust over the phone consultation or online information. I could have lost my family. My wife and I cannot say enough great things about the Animal Hospital of Hallandale.We have been taking our creatures to Dr. Barbosa. for many years.Another reason to give a 5 Star Rating are the Office Staff.  All of them have been extremely helpful and kind.These people really care not only about the animals brought into them for care but they have good relationships with owners as well.Their pricing is very fair in our opinion and even work with us when sometimes unfortunately  a pets care gets on the expensive side such as when we had to get our Dogs knees fixed.   We never thought he would be able to walk again and here it is years later and he is still running around.Thank you Dr. Barbosa. I have no idea why this rip off joint gets some high reviews. I took my "rescue cat" (I have many) for a mouth infection and they started with the old top down price stuff. I have had 40 or so cats in my life and I have been through this before. They get old and their teeth get infected and wobbly. In past the clinic or caring vet has always helped out with concern and a quick yank and the offending tooth is out. This is followed by a shot and some pills. They have always been fine thereafter. This guy started with the old, "Well, we have a major problem here and it will be $500 blah blah blah..." I asked if he knew of any animal aid organizations or charities that help people who are on limited incomes and provide service the public. Can you believe the answer was a curt, "NO!"WOW, my wife didn't get the idea or didn't follow my instructions or read my review and went back here for a double screwing.One of my rescue cats had a sore on her chin and Dr. Feelgood gave her a shot of generic antibiotic and a tube of generic Bactroban (Mupirocin, 2% 22g ointment which I priced on the net for $12.00. I have 6 tubes of Bactroban in my medicine cabinet by the by.) He not only did not cure her problem but he also had the gall to charge $170.00, thank you vedy much. I'm going to investigate this guy and find out who in the State of Florida allows this type of ripoff to be foisted on the gulible public.Now, I shall take her myself to a real vet who can properly diagnose this puss and treat her with love and care and not for a fast buck. Finally, a caring vet with great staff.This is probably a strange review, because of the ending, but it is honest.I took my 6 1/2 year old cat there after noticing he hadn't been feeling well for a week. Dr Barbosa immediately knew that my cat was in liver failure and provided treatment. We went in the next day when the cat was even worse, but it was too late for treatment and we had to euthanize him.The entire staff was kind and understanding. As a side note, I've had cats all my life and had never heard of hepatic lipidosis. Unfortunately, it's a condition that becomes terminal very quickly if you don't take action immediately. I had waited a week to take my cat to the vet, but if I had taken him sooner, I'm sure we would have had a better result.Dr Barbosa also worked with me financially which was extremely helpful. My family has been taking our dogs to Dr. Barbosa for over a year now. He is amazing and extremely knowledgeable. The people here make you feel at home and there is a sense of personal attention. My dog was not another cog in the factory if that makes sense. Dr. Barbosa is from Brazil and he was able to communicate in Portuguese, Spanish and English which helped my mother and father a lot!!! I live in Hollywood and tried 3 vet offices there before Dr Barbosa at the Animal Hospital of Hallandale was recommended to me.  I have always had several cats and a dog and have been going there now for about 15 years.  The office staff including the front desk, vet techs, Resident Vets and other vets are all caring, warm, friendly and helpful. Some of my pets were cared for to the end of their lives and after they died (one was a 17 year old cat), we received a sympathy card with notes and expressions of support from all the staff.  It was very touching.
