Story Time. Tuesday 10 April 2018 Three weeks ago I noticed that my 3 yr old Siberian Husky had some issues with her eyes. I took her into my local vet (Valdosta GA) and they told me she had conjunctivitis and administered steroids for her eyes. I applied them as instructed and her condition worsened. I took her back in when her condition got progressively worse. $300 of medication and blood work later she couldn't figure out what was wrong with her and had the gall to blame me for her worsened condition. My friend suggested Cumberland Animal Clinic for a second opinion. And although it was two hours away I needed my furbaby taken care of. The moment I walked into that clinic I already felt better about the care that Katja received. The staff was prompt, friendly and attentive. They were gentle in their care and didn't charge me for tests that were already administered at the other vet. She even got a specialists opinion on her condition. Dr. Bowman even called and discussed her medication and emailed me a chart to ensure I was on top of it. As if that were not enough, she called my local vet to discuss her findings. Great folks and wonderful veterinarians. Both Dr. Simmons and Dr. Bowman take great care of my cat. When I take Kibbie there to board on occasions she can't come with me, she can't wait to get out of my arms and over the counter to visit everyone. I can't say enough good things about the care we receive at Cumberland Animal Clinic.  Dr Simmons and Dr Bowman explain everything in terms I can understand as well as giving several treatment options when a procedure is needed.  There has never been any pushiness to do more than we can afford and they are always available to answer any question, no matter how small.People tend to forget that health care is something that should be ongoing with regular annual checkups and prompt treatment of any illness.  People take care of themselves and their children, getting options presented so that well informed decisions may be made.  It should be the same for our beloved pets.  The care and compassion we receive is more than outstanding and I would never take my pets to anyone else.  Cumberland is family. Dr. Simmons and Dr. Bowman were so kind, caring, and compassionate, when our 17-year old cat, Shadow, had a severe decline in health, and we made the painful decision to euthanize. Each staff member was so kind. I've lost many fur babies over the years, but Cumberland was the most sympathetic by far. Not only did they send us a card, it was a special and beautiful dedication to our Shadow. They even inked one of her paw prints. Dr. Simmons lives in the same neighborhood and I'm delighted each time I see him with their human baby. He's obviously a good soul, and Dr. Bowman is top notch too. Attention all pet owners! If you need an awesome place to get care for your pets this is the place. I have never been to a clinic where the staff cares so much. From the front desk staff, to the aides in the back, to Dr. Simmons and Dr. Bowman, you can't get a more caring, qualified experience. Everyone is friendly and takes time out of their day to say hello and careful explain how to care for your pet. If there was more than a five-star rating I would most certainly give it. Cumberland is a great clinic and boarding facility! Robbinhood is my normal puppy hotel as they are less than a mile from my house but in a pinch for a major holiday weekend I was able to call up cumberland and still get my two dogs space. They also offer more services than most pet babysitters such as baths, toe trimming, and fecal/blood tests and because they are a full clinic they can treat symptoms if your pet happens to have a parasite or is not feeling well in general! They took their time with my fur babies and answered all of my many questions.Their passion for animals is very obvious. When we moved to the Havana area we started taking our animals to Cumberland Animal Clinic. The care, compassion and information we get are outstanding. I can't imagine taking our pets anywhere else. Over the course of time we had serious issues with our male shiba inu. He had a seizure of some sort and we honestly didn't think he'd survive as we drove hom to Cumberland. Dr. Simmons explained all options for Kobe's treatment and possible outcomes. He never, ever pushes for the most expensive options but lays all method of treatment out for us to choose, working within the budget comfortable for us. Fortunately Kobe recovered from that seizure. There are many more examples I could give regarding treatment of illnesses and injury as well as preventive care for our animals. I have always had the utmost respect and trust when it comes to Dr. Simmons. Remember that health care is something that should be ongoing with regular annual checkups and prompt treatment of any illness. Cumberland animal clinic is a terrible place to take any pet you love. The vet is a master at up sales. He is constantly adding unnecessary test and even surgery to your bill. Beware! He is a real salesman and not concerned about your pets care. Read Less
