Care more about your wallet than your animal, every time spoke with staff it was an added different charge for something. With a little bit of research you will find the prices are way more than other animal hospitals. $356 to sedate and clean my dogs wound, got a call back dog needed emergency surgery where I was told could be an extra $200 once I arrived at the hospital they said it was actually over $400 extra I needed to pay, then I was charged for an e-collar at pickup which seems like no big deal but when you have an $800 bill you would think an e-collar would be included. Then they wanted to sedate her again to drain the tubes and charge to take out tubes. They were not willing to work with the price so very stressful. I went to Gilley's animal clinic so much more affordable and they didn't even have to sedate my dog handle her very well. Read Less

Bad customer service the front desk girl was rude and gave me attitude. She also said Dr. T was their and made me take both of my Siberian Huskies to the office for an appointment and he was not there. I live by FIU MMC campus so it’s far from this place. I was recommended here but it was horrible and The waiting room was super hot. No wonder Orlando said he would wait in the car he already knew how hot it would be inside of the office. Best decision I made was taking my kitten Shadow to this Hospital. Everyone there truly cares and loves animals. The doctor was sincere from the start. My kitten is doing so much better. We were visitors to the nearby national parks when our beloved Gabe developed a rash. Not being familiar with the area we relied on this site and reviews. Our experience was so wonderful 5 stars does not seem fair! From the doctor to each staff member we met the appointment was terrific. All the needed medication was clearly explained, our vet tech called the next day to check on Gabe, and knowing we will be far from Homestead when the 14 day culture test is completed they made arrangements with us to connect long distance. All in all what could have been a tense situation was comforting and reassuring Gabe will soon be 100% well. We have been visiting Southland for their veterinary services for our dogs and couldn't be happier. The caring for our dogs and family has been above and beyond what we've experienced at any other animal hospital, or service oriented business for the matter, in a very long time. We were leaving the country and our dog had a recent surgery. We decided to board her here for the first time to be under medical supervision. We usually drive over an hour to go somewhere else we've trusted for years. I was blown away by the service we received. Pictures and updates texted every day while abroad. Therapy for the leg that was repaired. Quick action to an lingering eye infection. When I arrived to pick her up I was greeted by the wonderful staff who shared more photos and told me all about how the stay went. She had fun with costumes, tons of spoiling and attention, and love from the team. To have a vet where the dog loves to go is an incredible opportunity. My wife and I adopted a dog eight years ago, and a neighbor recommended Dr . Toledo. I am so happy that I took my dog to Dr . Toledo. He is kind and patience and explains everything in detail, verbally, or with books and the Internet. He is very thorough when he examines our animals, his passion for the health of our pets is without question! We have rescued two more dogs, and all three are under Dr.T's care. In the past we had two very old cats 18+ years old, and they had become very sick and the time came to put them down. Dr.T and his staff shared in our grief and handled everything delicately and professionally. We can't thank them enough, as it was a very difficult time for us. Words cannot express the love and gratitude I have for this vet and their staff. I went there after 4 previous opinions for my Suki. They made me feel confident that I was making the right decision. The staff treated me and Suki like family. Before the surgery, during the surgery, after the surgery and with all the follow up treatments. I said my last goodbyes in their office, the staff was more than understanding and patient. They gave me time and privacy and I was able to stay until the end. I came here simply because they are open later than Gilley's Animal Clinic, but I regret it. I came here twice. The first time, the blonde female vet saw my dog and didn't seem to really care or know too much. She barely spoke english and she gave me vague answers to all my questions. The second time everything was TERRIBLE. They made us wait 20 min. in the lobby and then called us into a tiny little room. WE WAITED IN THERE FOR OVER AN HOUR. They kept telling us it would be "just a sec" without apologizing for the inconvenience or explaining the situation. Dr. Toledo and his staff were so welcoming. I have 2 dogs who are more like my children then pets. I came in to the office to have both dogs checked due to what seemed to be hives (possible bug bites) all over me not my animals. I had been suffering from non stop itching and misery for over 2 months. I had been to my primary physician, a dermatologist as well as 2 hospitals and to no avail no medications prescribed to me worked. Within minutes of my visit Dr. Toledo was almost positive I was suffering from scabies possibly contracted from a cat. Fortunately, neither animal was infected but we were able to use preventative measures for them. My primary prescribed the cream to treat scabies and within 3 days over 50% of my body is healed and I am no longer hurting, miserable, and hopeless! I can not thank him or his wonderful and caring staff enough for wanting my pets safe and there owner well. As pet owners we want those caring for our animals to love us and them as much as we do! Growing up on farms in Ohio, I have a lot of experience dealing with veterinarians. Southland Animal Hospital is possibly the best small animal veterinarian we have ever been to. Dr. Toledo and staff are all very knowledgeable, as you would expect. But it is their attitude that truly makes them stand out. You are greeted when you walk in with a smile. Phone calls and questions are returned the same day! And I'm sorry if this offends anyone, they all speak clear English. This is a huge deal for those of us who didn't grow up in South Florida, especially when it comes down to medical care for our pets. Prices are very, very affordable and they don't nickel and dime you to death for things like cotton balls, Q-Tips and other small consumables. This Vet is extremely professional, organized and caring.I took my Westie in for an appointment and was seen within 30 minutes (which for a vet is incredible in my part of town) They were very clear about the treatment instructions medicines and pricing. I left my dog (4 yr maltese) with Southland to board from Wed afternoon to Mon afternoon he did have one tick that was dead on him but I bought the flea and tick treatment "Vectra" right from them they said they would apply it on him not to worry and that he would recieve a bath on the morning of his discharge. The day I went to pick him up I noticed right away he looked dirty to me I asked if he recieved the bath the front lady told me yes but I told them that he looked dirty his muzzle look unclean, I was a little upset but didn't make a bid deal of it so the next day as my dog jumped on my lap I noticed a tick on him then another and another soon I noticed he was infested with dozens of tick I was so horrified I called Southland up they told me to bring him in right away. Well after I got there they tried to tell me that I was the one who bought him in like that, but I told him how could this be since he wasn't even home for 24 hours and they said it takes 48 for ticks to latch on and hatch eggs, needless to say she contradicted herself. So long story short NEVER AGAIN I would steer clear of Southland I'm still picking ticks off of my dog when I think he sat there for 5 days with those ticks it just makes me so angry! Read Less
