Just got finished at our appointment. Being a transient and always on the road, finding a good vet can be challenging. However, when i found that my little guy was having skin issues, I searched and found Oceanview.  When we got there, we had a warm greeting by Elsa. I have used these vets since changing from another practice. I don't know what to say other than what other 5 star review have said, but I cannot believe anyone would give these good folks anything less than 5 stars. The 3 vets are just terrific and so is the staff. They are kind and most importantly they are wonderful, accomplished practitioners. My beautiful dog Ranger loves going there. The Vets here care about your animals almost as much as you do. I had another vets place that was just all about the money, and get in and get out. Oceanview treated Caramel my dog as a family member. Caramel was a patient of theirs for two years, until I had to have him put to sleep two weeks ago. If, when, I get a new dog or cat, Oceanview will be their vet. I need to also note that I drive 45 minutes to go here and there are many other places that are closer to where I live, but none of them could have given me and Caramel the attention that we needed. When I brought my dog in I had a appointment. I didn’t have to wait to long. Overall wasn’t to bad. Thought I didn’t want to spend money though songave me the cheaper route when I was never asked. Which I would of spent more money on something that lasted longer. But today I ran in to get dog food at 8:10. The website says they open at 8. I got in the doors which were unlocked. This is a nice vet office. Dr. Melissa Johnson and her staff do an excellent job caring for the medical needs of all animals. Our dogs responded well to Doc Johnson and their treatment plan. Reception/front desk exhibited some aggressive, in-my-face verbiage when asked a question about further/future plans for our dogs. Quite concerting. Read Less

I have been taking my cats here for 5 years. Elsa at the front desk is a staple there and is extremely friendly and helpful. I've been going to Oceanview Veterinary with my 'furkids' for many years. Having suddenly lost Oceanview's founder, Dr. Knapke several years ago due to his untimely passing it was difficult to know where to turn to. Dr's. Johnson and Kane fortunately have been able to take his place. Both are doing a fine job in providing excellent veterinary care to my 'furkids' now. There is also a special person that needs to be mentioned and that is Oceanview's office manager Elsa. Maybe our dog isn't that smart, but she loves going to Oceanview for their checkups and shots. You would think she would remember getting poked. However, the staff and veterinarians at this place are just amazing. It is so great seeing the vet sitting on the ground playing with our little dog while she's examining her. She has no clue and thinks its all fun and games. My previous vet never called the next day either to check on her. This clinic always seems to call and checkup. Amazing. Before even coming in Elsa made me feel welcomed. I got a new puppy and also needed a new vet for my current dog since I just moved to the area. My father is a vet so I have high expectations. I wanted a place that felt like home, knew what they were doing, and didn't charge an arm and a leg. They have surpassed all my expectations so far. This was the best Veterinary clinic I have ever been to. I have recently just moved to California and still looking for an experience like I had here. Elsa, the front office lady, always remembered my kitties and I just after my first visit to their office. It was always refreshing to speak to her on the phone, regardless of if it was scheduling or I had a concern, and getting an appointment was never difficult. They are also one of the only offices in Jacksonville that provides cat declaw with the laser and the doctors are incredible. Dr. Kane treated both of my cats for over two years.  She would call me a few days after their visits to check in on them and make sure they were okay after a shot or procedure. She also never forced anything on me, she understood that I was just a student and couldn't afford unnecessary expenses. Moreover, she understands the animal. One of my cats cannot handle having her temperature taken or anything else via anal, Dr. Kane took note and instead of putting her through trauma everytime she would just give her the deworm pill or go a different route. Both Drs. Kane and Johnson are remarkable at what they do. Their talent combined with an entire staff who understand veterinary medicine as well as the "people" part of the business allows this practice to thrive. Not only does this team take pride in their work, but they always make me feel like a part of the family. I have been going to Oceanview since the second I moved to Jax beach from orange park, and to be fair, if I knew about this vet before, I would have made the drive. They are some of the nicest group of trained and certified vets that I have ever come in contact with. They not only always make room for their clients, they know everyone and they pet on a first name basis. I have had two dogs fixed l, stitched, get rid of an itch, and they always give the right advice and diagnosis. Every time something happens to my doggies, they immediately feel better when seeing and smelling the employees, but physically get better within days. They have also never failed to call the next day to check up on the pets. I have referred everyone I know to them, and nobody has ever had a bad experience. They also sell safe treats, picket pills and food if your pet sick or in my case needs weight control. I could go on forever, so I'll end this on-they are simply the best in town! Read Less

Staff is wonderful, but outrageous prices. $312 to fix a cat with first shots, when you can go to the Humane Society and get the same thing done for $60. $260 to text your dog's poop and flea medication. Wish I would of known that before paying that much!Read Less

After not being happy with the local vets around the northside I went into research mode to find one i think would give us better care and recommendations for our dogs. Came across OVH and gave it a try after needing 2nd and 3rd opinions on our dog's leg that he was having trouble with. Barely being able to lift himself off the floor and not being able to be active I knew something serious was wrong. The other vets around the northside kind of brushed it off saying it wasn't so serious or giving us meds and telling us to wait it out. I had a feeling it was his ACL that he tore after some research. Turns out when I took Reagan here they also confirmed it was his ACL and recommended we get it repaired at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists on the Southside. I would definitely come back here even if it's a drive for me as it's well worth the piece of mind. Read Less

We brought our dog Ben in with bite wounds (severe) and were treated very well and total bill was $486.-- including a follow up visit. First place we went to, the Emergency & Critical Care Pet Hospital at 14185 Beach Blvd wanted $1,100 - $1,300 for the same treatment. I highly recommend this Veterinarian Hospital. I board my dog here often. She is not nervous at all going in, and when I pick her up, she is clean and happy. The staff is so sweet to her that I don't worry at all while I'm away. I trust them completely! All I can say is I second what Alexandra D. said!  This is a wonderful operation, and Dr. Knapke is top notch.  I started with them about 11 months ago with my oldest kitty.  They have one of two different laser machines that are used for a variety of purposes.  My kitty has severe arthritis, and the laser helps manage her aches and pains.  Now Dr. K. is managing the deafness and subsequent issues brought on by the incompetence of another clinic.  He's saved the life of my poor girl, and I cannot thank him enough for working as diligently as he has to help her tolerate this latest setback.  Everyone there is great, and I cannot thank them all enough!
