The Doctor was professional and caring. She genuinely seemed to care about my dog. We were given a steroid & antibiotic prescription for allergic rash & bacteria on slide sample, along with Chlorhexidine Fluconate(aseptic soap soaked on a dozen 4x4 gauze pads) to clean the rash/woulds. That is where my problem with Pet Doctors arises. $20 for the gause soaked in about an ounce of soap! You can buy a gallon of it online for $11 & 16oz of it a Walgreens for $7.99. So basically I paid the equivalent of almost 2 gallons to which they can prescribe to aboit 150 customers? $20 a pop to 150 customers is $3000 made on a $15-25 purchase by Pet Doctors of America. Probably won't be returning to the Beach Blvd location with my 3 dogs & 1 kitten. I'll find a fair Veterinarian. Read Less

My pets see Dr Silvers and she is amazing. Hands down the best vet out there standard care. Recently, I had to help my 10-year old Doberman cross the rainbow bridge and Dr Silvers supported the entire process - including me bugging her outside of her hours in the clinic. She really cares about our animals and she is so knowledgeable in her treatment approaches. This was the first time I had needed a vet since moving to town. Pet Doctors did an excellent job of rehabilitating the awful job done by the first vet I chose. They did a complete exam, assessed his situation correctly and seem to have solved the problem. The doc has great bedside manner. Vet tech Dave is my new hero, and the staff are all very kind. When you move to a new city it is difficult to know who you can trust just by reviews. My mistake was not noticing that it was really one vet, and not the practice, getting the great reviews. Trust these guys. I saw someone call them pricey. Good veterinary care is pricey and these prices are not any higher than I have payed in other parts of the country. Unfortunately we had to put my mom's dog asleep. The staff were very patient and understanding and let us take all the time we needed. Sweet Pea went slowly asleep and felt ZERO pain. I had a bad experience with the vet that I had been taking my dog to and before I was able to establish her with another one, had what I considered an urgent issue. So my first visit to PD was based on location and availability. My pup and I received excellent care and service. Dr. Avery Silvers is he best vet we’ve ever had! She was able to diagnose something other vets failed to and helped my kitty with his kidney and uti issues, and literally saved his life when there was a blockage. We never like having to bring our pet to the vet unless for annual checkups/shots. I have brought 2 sickly dogs here and the compassion is wonderful. The drs explain what’s going on in a way you can totally understand them. I wouldn’t bring my dog/s anywhere else. Read Less

They are by far the best veterinarian clinic I have ever been too. You can tell everyone is happy to work there & cares about animals. They are currently treating my elderly cat and Dr Fyfe just called to check on her. Amazing! That is a dying art in any medical field. The Dr and tech always listen to my concerns, are very thorough, & open to pursuing the best treatment plan for my cat and I. The clinic itself is spacious, clean and non stressful. Recently new in town, I needed to get my escapist cat in fast for a flea treatment and vaccine update. This office was open on weekends which is an absolute plus, and their staff is so friendly and the office is clean and beautiful.  The staff was able to fit me in so that my cat was no longer tortured by hordes of fleas.  Dr. Fyfe gave my cat a very effective flea treatment and gave me some home treatment tips as well! We have used Pet Doctors as our primary vet for about two yeas now and they have been awesome. I am honestly surprised to see negative reviews here, but I also think some people just want to complain and are generally unreasonable so they'll never be happy with any level of support. We have three dogs that go to Pet Doctors and see two different vets. The staff are always incredibly friendly and professional. The vets always remember us, our dogs and everything they've treated them for. I can't recommend them enough (either location) and would encourage anybody to give them a try. My Barbie girl was a huge part of our life and our family and friends as well for more than 12 years. She affected so many more than just us and to have to say good bye was beyond heart wrenching for us. I love this vet.  They are always friendly and accommodating and my dog always enjoys going.  They always try to get my dog in for boarding and have gone above and beyond at times  when they were booked for big holidays.  Last 4th I forgot to call and book for  the of July ahead of time, they were almost fully booked but made room for my pup at the last minute.  I love Pet Doctors of America!! The longer version: because our dog was dealing with some serious health issues, we decided to try the Beach Blvd. hospital as opposed to our regular care at another PDA. I am so happy that I did. Dr. Avery Silvers, David and the entire staff astounded us with their expertise, animal compassion, and intuitive human interactions. We never felt like we were being taken for a ride ($$$), nor did we ever feel pressured to pursue paths that we were not comfortable with. We were always treated with honesty and respect. On top of all of this, our dog was given the absolute best care as we all endured the hard parts of her illness. She was kept comfortable and healthy by Dr. Silvers and staff. Their genuine concern for our pet was always at the forefront and they went above and beyond our expectations. AMAZING CARE! My Cocker Spaniel has been to many different Vet clinics over the years, and Pet Doctors of America has earned our first place metal! Over the years Molly has had: a copperhead snake bite, had her eyes removed because of glaucoma, had an intestinal blockage removed, a torn ACL (healed without surgery), ear infections, and all the regular dog visits... so I know vet clinics very well! Took my dog here since she was a puppy and one bad experience ruined it forever and couldn't be happier with her new vet. Let's just say I didn't think what they did to my pup was right at all. I read some of the previous reviews and felt obligated to leave my own personal experience. Our normal vet isn't open on the weekends which normally isn't a hassle,but my dog got a couple wood splinters caught in his paw and it had been bothering him for a few days. Now today (Sunday), he was hobbling more than usual so we decided to call this vet since they are open weekends. The receptionist (Sarah), was very nice through the phone and scheduled an appointment for the same day. We brought the dog in, where Aaron and Dr. Greene were extremely courteous. They gave us an estimate to fix the dog up and performed the splinter removal an hour later. My dog is now at home, resting up and doing fine. I'm glad they were available when no one else was. If you want a vet that doesn't want rip you off by several consecutive office visits at $50 each because they couldn't get it right the first two times then DONT GO TO THE DOC IN THE BOX!  My experience with Pet Doctors has been very concerning and I feel what they want to do is all these VERY EXPENSIVE test which more often do not indicate anything serious and you end up getting the inexpensive fix which usually antibiotics.  I took my jack/chihuahua mix almost two years ago and they took all these tests almost $500 yes five hundred dollars and they still didn't know why my dog was not eating and was nauseous.  That night I saw my baby bulch and wondered if he had acid reflux or just indigestion so I called a pharmacist and he recommended Pepcid 10 mg and almost 2 years later not a single bout of nausea or not wanting to eat.  I diagnosed my dog not Pet Doctors.  Now recently I take my dog back to Pet Doctors because he didn't have energy and just didn't act himself.  The first thing is they wanted to take $300 to $400 in test.  Because of last time I suggested an exam and she did a very brief one and I paid $50.  She said he was older but seemed fine. He is 12 years old.  A couple of days later there was this large abscess on his hip.  Not attached to the body and again they wanted to do extensive tests.  I didn't have the money or I would not have cared but being tight on budget I asked if it could be infected and to try antibiotics first and if they didn't help I would then do testing.  Well 7 days later the abscess was minimal so I asked if I could keep him on antibiotics just a few days longer.  Well they said if I came in and was seen.  Remember I have already been there twice and spent $100 just on office visits and they said they would have to charge me again for another visit.  This was an outrage!!!  This vet operates in my opinion no different than a mechanic who will give you a warranty and as soon as it's over what you took out a warranty on then breaks.  The vet did not keep my dog on the antibiotics long enough and should have just given the extra 4 pills or allowed me to bring him in without charging again for another office visit for the same damn thing.  I'm seeing another vet and I'm done with Pet Doctors.  It's all about money not the care of the animal.  That's exactly what they showed me.  I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.  I say no stars.   Horrible care unless your willing to give them hundreds of dollars first. This office has always been very accommodating and our dogs love going here. Dr. Silvers is outstanding, and our usual vet tech, Nicholle, is always friendly and patient with our social awkward pup. They are both always very thorough and take the time to explain every aspect of what they are doing with us. We also board our dogs here and they actually wag their tells as we drop them off. Pet Doctors of America were the second veterinary hospital that we took our cat to for a seemingly simple, but slightly frightening, abscess that had developed over one of his eyes. The previous doctor delayed the treatment he needed because they were unable to see that it was an abscess. My cat and I arrived at Pet Doctors of America early one morning because his abscess had grown to a size that was completely obscuring his eye sight out of one eye. The receptionists were genuinely nice and cared about my cat and how he was feeling. The wait to see the doctor was relatively short. The doctor was compassionate and caring. My cat left that day with a cone, and an appointment to return the next week. He recovered very well and was almost back to new by the next appointment. Thanks to the Pet Doctors. We had plans to fly with our cat for the first time and came equipped with quite a few questions about the best way to travel. They were extremely helpful and even prescribed some anxiety medicine to help him through the 6 hour flight. The doctor called us the day after we arrived to ensure that the medicine worked well and the flight was a success. I feel like Pet Doctors of America went above and beyond and commend them for their excellent customer service. I've recently moved to Jax Beach and saw Pet Doctors of America and thought I would give it a try. The first time I dropped him off to get groomed, then kept him for almost 10 hours. I complained about how long it took and they said they were busy. I mentioned that next time I'd be more than happy to reschedule so my dog wouldn't be caged all day. I stupidly decided to try again. This time after I got home I noticed blood on the tile floor of my house. I looked at his paw and it's bleeding badly. I then start looking more closely at Duke and I see he has nicks all over him from the groomer. I tried holding a bunch of paper towels to his foot to stop the bleeding but it soaked through. I then took him back up to Pet Doctors to the vet on staff.Of course they started to say he did it outside of the grooming since he wasn't bleeding when he was picked up. I then showed them all the nicks over his feet, tail, and body. Even the vet was shocked by the state my dog was in. I'm sorry I subjected my dog to this place when I had a poor experience he first visit, but decided to give them another chance. And what do they do? They hurt my dog. Read Less

I was referred by a friend to this location. Before I state the negative, I will give credit where it is due. The clinic was very nice and clean and their Dr. Robbins was amazing.  Moving on, in my opinion, I felt a few members of the staff on the beach blvd. and san pablo location were very unfriendly towards me. After being escorted into a room by a very grumpy red head pregnant lady, she would not even look up when speaking to me kind of making me feel "lesser than" and unimportant. Although she was not like this with everyone, I started to feel like it was just me the longer I was there. I usually don't play the race card, but she made me feel like she did not like black people. If I heard correctly, someone called her Jenn...I could be wrong. Horrible Neglect!!!! DONT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! Especially for boarding! Our dog has been coming here for over a year for boarding but this last time opened my eyes. Our dog was on the upside from recovering from an infection on his right side. He also had three other spots that were almost completely gone. He was almost healed when I dropped him off for boarding and I told them VERY specific details on what to do (what meds to take, what food to give, most importantly: He MUST wear his ECollar Cone whenever he is alone in his crate so he doesn't lick or bite at the healing spots. They acted like it was No problem and they do this all the time. About three days before we are scheduled to pick him up the vet calls me and wants my permission to do an exam on him because the spots have gotten worse! I asked if they were following my instructions and they admitted to leaving his cone off during meals with the other dogs which is when he was going after the sore. I requested pictures of the area right away and saw how bad it had gotten. We pay extra $ every time for TLC which allows him more one on one time out of the cage and they send you pictures of your dog. Each picture this visit was incredibly sad, he looked like he was cowering down each time. We almost changed our flights to come home early because he looked unhappy. We've spent thousands with this vet in the past year doing this along with other vaccinations, etc. When I came to pick him up I was expecting a discount! OR at least the TLC should have been credited cause clearly he didn't receive any extra love and care if he got worse. Just boarding him at this vet caused his infection to get worse and need to be on steroidal medications, an additional vet visit with his primary care doc costing us an additional $200 on top of the $1000 we had already paid during this infection for complete negligence! Weeks of additional meds that was unnecessary if they had done their job! AND they blamed it on my dog! Didn't take any responsibility or try to save our business with them. The icing on the cake was when we were discussing the details in person, the vet was talking about ANOTHER dog for ten minutes. She confused my dog with another German shepherd that was also staying there and wearing an e-collar cone!! SO how long did they forget to put my Germans cone back on?? COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE on their part!! DO NOT take your family members here! You will regret it!!! Read Less

The staff has always been so friendly and welcoming as we enter. They know not only about my pets but my child as well! We were using another vet that was closer to our home on the Northside when one of our dogs was diagnosed with diabetes. She had to be taken to a specialist due to the state of her kidneys. After lots of money had been spent and her condition only improving slightly they were talking to us about basically giving up. We then went for a second opinion with Pet Doctors. Their vets reviewed her records and saved our dog! It has been two years since then and they have continued with support that is above and beyond what any doctor would do even for a human. The staff is friendly, the facilities are nice and the place is clean. They offer complimentary snacks and coffee during your visit as well as some reading material in the lounge. I've been here before with my mother for a stray dog we found and I was impressed with the Vet who handled his care. When the two kittens I got for myself recently began deteriorating, losing weight and not acting themselves, I decided to go here. Although they were skinny, the one more so than the other, the Vet told me they were okay and proceeded with vaccines, etc, stating she thought it was parasites causing the issue. I had no reason to think otherwise. A day later one passed away and the other began refusing his food. I took my remaining kitten to another vet (Harbour place animal clinic) and was told my kitten has a severe URI. When Pet doctors gave my kittens the vaccines it overwhelmed their immune systems, resulting in the death of one. I cannot bring myself to return to this or any other pet doctors and am struggling to not blame the vet for the death of my beloved kitten. I was not informed of any risks outside the typical allergic reaction a cat might have to a vaccine. I've been told by several vets and vet techs she should have waited until the kittens were in better condition before giving them the vaccines. These last few days have been an emotional wrecking ball for me and I cannot help but feel had I gone elsewhere, or even had a different vet, my kitten would still be alive.Read Less

Earlier this year was one of the toughest times for our family. Glenn, our 11 year-old Golden Retriever/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix became very ill. Despite all of our efforts, he was not going to get better. In our darkest and saddest moment, Dr. B, Vet Tech Eleece, and Front Service Jasmine took care of Glenn and our final wishes. They treated Glenn with the most tender and gentle hands from the moment we arrived to his final breath. For us, they were calm, confident and strong. Losing a cornerstone of our home and family was not easy, but what Dr. B and Eleece did us for was immeasurable. Our precious cat Lily, will be cared for by no one else but Pet Doctors. We have been using pet doctors for years for both of our dogs. We have spent large amounts of money with them and have been loyal customers. My dog and an emergency and I tried to bring him here and was turned away because it was one minuet  after closing. The receptionist didn't care one bit that my dog was in any pain. She just kept saying "sorry we closed at 5." I think it is horrible that a "vet" would turn someone away who was literally outside with an injured dog. It goes to show that they truly don't care about the animals. I will never be using them again and I will make sure all my friends and family with pets never use them!!! The new Pet Doctors of America facility is absolutely stunning! It is huge and offers plenty of room for pets! The kennels have been upgraded, and offer indoor/outdoor options for pets who would rather have the option to lounge in the sun or come in as they please. This new facility is extremely clean and the entire Pet Doctors staff is very friendly and helpful! There is always someone available to help! There is a people-cafe' and a doggy cafe' where complimentary snacks and waters are offered at all times. The grooming area is large and the groomers do a fabulous job on all pets! The vet staff are extremely heartfelt and kind. Every pet that enters the doors are greeted with open arms. The fact that Pet Doctors of America is open 7 days a week offers flexible appointment times as well! Read Less

Pet Doctors provides an incredible experience as a pet owner. It is clean and they get you in quickly with an appointment. Tech use ipads to make data input fast and paperless. They have taken very good care of my dog and explain the need for each solution when there is a problem. I've been taking my dog to Pet Doctors since this location opened, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. The receptionists are friendly and helpful, the vet techs and docs are very sensitive to my dog's needs. I think some of these negative comments are people who perhaps don't understand what a veterinary clinic is all about. As for the comment about boarding, I've moved several times in my dog's 10 years of life and every boarding facility required Bordatella every 6 months...it won't hurt your animal and it could save them from getting sick. I am new in town and had received a coupon in the mail for Pet Doctors (Jax beach location) I took my dog in for a bath,my dog is up to date on all vaccines but they insisted that she needed to be re-vaccinated as we where new to Jacksonville? they also said that my dog needed a dental cleaning and tooth extraction (she had already had a dental cleaning a month earlier by another vet along with her vaccines and the previous vet said that she had healthy teeth) I would not recommend pet doctors nor will I ever use them again as the employee's were rude and they were obviously trying to take advantage of my being new to this town and ready to rip me off! Spring of 2010 I visited Pet Docters of America frequently for my two cats...I scheduled a spay/neuter for the two of them. However, during the operations the Anesthesiologist created a small incision in my Baby Cat?s lung! My cat suffered a great ordeal and 4 long days in excruciating pain! $10,000 and several specialist operations later my beloved family pet died in the care of Specialists at AVS Surgery Center! The kind specialists at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists AVS assured me time and time again that the cause from the cats death was the result of the Pet Doctors of America?s human error! TO THIS DAY, I have NEVER ONCE received a call or letter of condolences from the murders at Pet Doctors of America! Even after a letter was released from my lawyers concerning severance from their insurance providers and a personal sit down meeting with the Manager of Pet Doctors of America, I never ONCE was treated with respect or sympathy! Please I plead with all parents, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! The death and trauma of losing my family pet Baby Cat still weighs heavy on my shoulders, it is only recently that my grief has pushed me to warn all Pet Lovers about the cruel and unprofessional practices of the doctors and staff at Pet Doctors of America! VERY unprofessional! The absolute WORST place!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THERE!!!!! Brought our dog there to get spayed and children were walking around the back unsupervised.... then after signing some papers I was told to come back in 4 hours. Four hours later I was called being told that my dog had died... 4 MONTHS OLD!!!! They had KILLED her by not taking the necessary precautions needed for anesthesia. They NEVER gave any notice to us that there was even a possibility that our dog may not wake up. Upon going there to speak with them they had no concerns or compassion towards our feelings of immense remorse that our dog, who was a new part of our family, was gone. They disregarded our feelings and treated us as if we were just another number, and they had to move on to their next animal they could carelessly handle just to get some money.
