Jamaica has went to this clinic maybe about a hand full of times. Usually before, for minor visits such as check ups, or flea or tick medication. I want to say I can remember her going here in 2017. I recently discovered a new growth under her lower tummy. No larger than a dime, but hard enough to know it's there. It doesn't bother her but I was recommended to schedule an appointment during the mobile unit visit. The on staff doctor said because she wasn't spayed, it increased her chances of developing cancerous masses.At this recent check up, the vet said that her areas were probably non cancers because they were slow growing an not irritating her. I'm not too confident in that answer so I will be getting a second opinion. I will say that you get what you pay for and don't let the clinic be the last place you call when your pet is ill. I know that they gave me a price list for spaying and teeth deep clean. I'm sure there are others that will spay for less than $300. The teeth cleaning in other places is a flat fee. Will continue wellness visits, but they had the same answer last time when she only had one cyst. Read Less

30% of the time you will get a doctor who is very compassionate for our furry kids, and the rest of the time you will get a doctor who does not care at all and wants to run additional tests that 3 other vets have told me were not necessary.  Get one of the 30% and you will have exceptional care... 70% of the time you will be disappointed.  I got tired and frustrated with it & switched vets.  How's your luck? My cat was struggling to breathe and it was destroying me because I couldn't afford to get her to a vet and when I finally called around, ONLY Jacksonville Community Pet Clinic could see her in a reasonable amount of time! AND, on top of that was the double blessing of being the lowest priced vet around! Also, third plus, very close and conveniently located, because we all know what it's like to take a cat in the car! Ugh! The place is very clean and every person there is extremely friendly and kind! I saw Doctor Connelly who was very thorough and professional, as well as aware of the cost factor! Hands down the best vet I've been to. They are not money hungry and they get the job done right. Yes, as i've seen comments below theres a walk in fee of $25.00 and they tell you via phone or person about the fee. I recommend Dr.Carlos and Amy (vet tech). The both of them are super sweet, caring, and want nothing but the best for your animals. They also give you the amount of the total cost visit so its not a surprise at the end which i find very convenient. I had to put my cat down that i've had for 18 years, it was super hard for me but with their love and support they helped me through it. Thank you again, it truly means a lot! Read Less

My first few visits were great. Later on when I took my dog in for an illness, the vet forgot to prescribe a med that he had mentioned. I called back after realizing it. I didn't get a response until two days later. It was hard to to get time off to pick up the medication that was forgotten so i asked if they could send me the script for me to fill elsewhere. The "manager" said they can't do that. Regardless of the situation I have to pick up the med myself or get pick up the script to fill somewhere else but it will cost extra for the vet to write the script. I am highly disappointed on how this clinic handles things. I called Saturday in the morning and was put on hold. No problem, I am very understanding that they are busy. I was on hold for over 10 minutes and when the receptionist came back she said she had to call me back. No problem... But it was HOURS later. When she called, I explained to her that my pet was not doing good and he really needed to be seen that day. She said that they did not have anything until the following Friday. I took my baby elsewhere because simply waiting almost a week for my sick pet is not acceptable. She said I could have walked in and paid more but that appointments come first, which I understand but for a sick pet that's not okay. The receptionist was not very friendly at all and does not seem to care about getting your pet in. If you have a sick baby DO NOT bring them here. I am so glad we found an affordable, caring vet service for our dogs and cat. All the doctors are animal lovers, and the care we've received has been top notch. I used to really like it here ... I'll give this place atleast 2 stars because I took several animals to this location a few years ago. This where you'd want to go for something very simple such as shots. For anything else I strongly urge you to go somewhere else. There is a new Female doctor that I did not care for. During the exam she did not listen to my concerns. She was in and out. The diagnosis was wrong. I was very disappointed. The front desk receptionist also used to be so nice and friendly .. the one I spoke to was so rude. . not sure what happend to this place but it has , without a doubt, went downhill . Read Less

I am not one to complain. I usually just bottle my complaints up inside my head and then take it out on a friend or a bottle of wine, but not this time. Guys, superrrrrr disappointed in your bedside manner. My cat passed away, called, put me on hold for ten minutes, when receptionist came back she asked if I could hold again to which I interjected that it was an emergency and she then seemed interested to help. Explained the situation... cat just passed away her response was ... soooo what do you want us to do? I was flabbergasted. Having worked as a vet tech for ten years plus many more in hospitality This was the BIGGEST slap in the face as a customer. Anyway, as I was trying to provide payment, another woman stepped out and loudly asked in front of everyone (while I am blubbering crying) IF I WANTED TO ADD A FOOTPRINT to the cremation package. Of course I do but jeeze ask me in private what the hell! A week later not having received ANY call or email regarding the pick up of my sweet beloved pets' ashes, I absentmindly long into FACEBOOK... what do I find in my messages? You guessed it! A message telling me her ashes were ready to be picked up, sorry we didn't have a valid phone number for you (customer for 4 years). When I go pick her ashes up, the receptionist like 40 year smoker turns to me behind the receptionist on the phone and says with a pen in her mouth, mind you, who are ya here to pick up!?! At this point I just lost it... keeping my cool bc of that bottle of wine... and that friend... my poor poor friend listening to me talk about this. The whole thing was just beyond awful. Have some bedside manners. Just because your office is "affordable" and less than typical pricing for obvious reasons should NEVER mean less than quality service. Shame on your staff. Today I was so pleasantly surprised at the compassion and level of care we, and our Buddy, received. We have been to the clinic before for vaccinations. Today we went because our dog has a small mass on his foot that has not gone away. Of course, we thought the worst before going in. The veterinarian reassured us that we could try a round of antibiotics first, then follow up in two weeks to consider surgically removing the small mass. The vet and staff were just so stellar in calming my excitable dog down every time they entered the room to examine him. They were so great at explaining the treatment protocol and medication to me. I was really blown away with the level of care we received for a low-cost clinic. The total cost of the visit, three medications to treat the mass, one vaccine, and a six month supply of sentinel flea/heartworm medication came out to $140. You really can't beat that. On June 28, 2017 I took my 12 yr old beloved service dog in because he was vomiting.  Nothing to do with his diabetes but he was very sick.  The blood they said was 400 which is high but the dog also had not eaten and they knew this but I was instructed to give Pico 5 units of insulin and asked me to go home and do this while they were waiting on the blood work.  I did give him 4 units because I told Dr. Lovingood that given a dog insulin without food was dangerous but he said 1/2 of his normal amount without food was ok.  His normal amount of insulin with a full meal plus treats & meds was 10.25 units.  I noticed too his was bleeding some from his anus which the vet said was sometimes assoc with gastrointestinal issues.  He was treated with shots for nausea, a narcotic shot for pain and he said he should recover in a day or two, maybe a little longer.  But then his rectal area bled so Dr. Livingood said they would keep him there, give him an IV with glucose and were to monitor his blood sugar.  What I gave Pico that morning 4 units would have been all he needed for insulin when he hadn't eaten for 24 hours.  I was asked to bring the NovolinN insulin back in case they needed it.  I was under the impression Pico would have an IV for hydration and the glucose to offset the insulin.  Instead they didn't give him an IV the 4 plus hours they had him but what they did give him was 8 more units of insulin without my consent or knowledge.  That day my 20 pound darling Pico was issued a total of 12 units, would have been 13 if I had given 5 instead of 4, 12 units of insulin and the dog had nothing to counteract that much insulin so it fried his little brain to the point where he walked to the water but didn't know how to drink it.  He no longer knew who I was.  He walked around like a zombie.  Had they asked me if it was okay, I would have said absolutely NO WAY because that amount I knew would cause Pico to go into diabetic coma and that is exactly what happened and he died.  My baby died!!!  I will never get over this.  NEVER.  He was the joy and love of my life and I'm suffering so much.  Shame on you vets that do things without knowing exactly what you're doing which ends up causing an unnecessary death to a loved one.  He wasn't my dog, he was my child, my baby and you killed Pico.  YOU DID.  I can't eat, I can't sleep, I haven't gotten out of bed since he died.  You took away the one thing that made me smile every day.  I'll never forgive you for this.  Pico should never had died and he certainly did not deserve to die such a death.  I'm devastated. I love dr allosilla at this clinic but the front desk leaves a lot to be desired. The front desk peeps have poor customer service skills other than taking your money they know how to do that but ask for a copy of your pets labs and they don't know how to find it, don't know how to print them either. They take calls while you are standing at the window in the middle of helping you after you have waited in line and then don't tell the person on phone to hold until they finish with customer in front of them. I called on 3/8 and booked an appointment for my dog to have his shots and they confirmed the appointment for 3:15pm the next day (3/9). I then called on 3/9 an hour before my appt to double check the times. They confirmed my appointment. So I showed up and the woman at the desk said I didn't have an appointment and was very rude and didn't even apologize for their mistake. I had to take off work and time out of my day to go to this much needed appointment and they just turned me away because of their incompetent staff. This was not right. Read Less

It's not near me, but a friend suggested it for my puppy's shots.  I barely sat for 5 minutes before I was called back (I had an appointment though).  The Dr. was great with my dog and joked about trying to train his own.  He gave straightforward advice on the next round of shots and when it's advised to neuter, as apposed to the usual age that most people do.  They also gave me a little puppy starter pack before I headed out.  Will def. be back Read Less

Dr. Parks is an excellent veterinarian. Kind, empathetic, knowledgeable, thorough, professional. She truly went above and beyond to assess my cat Marley, who I thought would have to be euthanized because of her intense suffering. I got 3 diagnoses from 3 different vets at another clinic. The 3rd diagnosis was dire and the end seemed eminent. After watching Marley suffer all night I figured her time had come. Devastated, I waited outside the door of the Jacksonville Community Pet Clinic before they opened. Dr. Parks put us in an exam room right away. The techs knew what they were doing. Marley responded well to them in spite of how poorly she felt. They had her chart faxed from her former vet(s). Dr. Parks methodically formulated a plan with a more hopeful outcome in accordance with my very limited funds. I trusted her hypotheses about Marley's potential diagnosis. She sent us home with a game plan, palliative medications and food to therapeutically change her diet. The techs made phone calls to my pharmacy to get cost of meds and explained in detail how to administer the prescriptions with helpful hints. They were all so accommodating. No false promises were made. Dr. Parks understood a more definitive diagnosis was necessary before concluding to put Marley to sleep. Knowing I cannot afford expensive diagnostic procedures and surgeries, Dr. Parks was pragmatic and conservative in her approach gave me hope and a better quality of life for Marley. And who knows, the outcome could be good. If not, I know I can trust her guidance as things evolve. I was astonished at the low cost of the exam, the attention, meds and food. Great Vet for the money. I take great care of my animals and love them all very much. That being said I cant afford the "best" but I can afford to take care of them. They are about 30% less expensive then the ordinary vet, sometimes more. They have rotating vets so sometimes you get the same doctor, sometimes you don't, but they all care and are very qualified. I've had to have my Spot of 14 years euthanized, I've had many pets in for the "usual", and I'm currently dealing with a dog with an ACL. I've had wonderful experiences with all situations. I'll keep going back. Always take a lot of time with me when needed, communication is great, love the new receptionist. Read Less

Worst experience of my life at the Beach location. Wish I could give zero stars. This had been my vet for years, but when I brought my dog in Saturday with a life threatening illness, they left us to sit in a room for over an hour, with zero sense of urgency. In fact, the rude vet tech said "you're a walk-in, and see all these charts, they are in front of you." I explained that my dog had a cup of blood come out of his rectum and that should be an emergency. When I had been there in the past, they moved emergencies in front of me, which I was fine with. His response was "there's other emergency vets in the area, if you think it's an emergency." Shouldn't they be able to assess that?!?!?!? As I sat there, I called two other vets who were both able to tell me over the phone that my pup had HGE and needed immediate treatment. Pet Shots almost caused me to lose my pup after having been a loyal customer for 4.5 years. Truly deplorable treatment we received and I wouldn't recommend that anyone who loves their animal go there. Read Less

I brought my dog to Pet Shots for his annual vaccinations. I had been taking him to the No More Homeless Pets clinic but got tired of waiting two hours to see a vet or a vet technician.  The staff and Dr. Epstein are terrific.  Very friendly and caring.  They are priced right and we had a 7pm appointment (open late on Thursdays) and were seen right on time.  I highly recommend this clinic and highly recommend Dr. Epstein. Pet shots is an amazing company. I recently brought my dog Sugar to have a couple of tumors removed. Ashley Knight was very professional. The doctor seemed to truely care about my financial needs and answered all of my questions in a way that made sense. The best price isn't always the best deal but in this case it surely was. I would strongly recommend them to anyone I know that has a pet (family member) in need. Hats off to them for a job well done. I will only use Pet Shots from now on. I've never had such a great experience with a vet. The people here really care and they won't sell you medicine or services you don't need. I bring my cat and dog here, and while my cat usually hates vets, this doctor was so quick and gentle with her that she barely made a peep. My dog actually LIKES going here, as the doctor is very calming and gentle. He gave her treats and made it seem like his exam was just him petting her. She had to have a fecal sample taken (ouch) and she still barely seemed to mind being violated. She loves this vet so much, and they have always had me in and out quickly. They've never tried to take unnecessary X-rays(which others in town have done for $450!). The best part, is it actually IS affordable. I'll never go anywhere else in town again. Read Less

I love this clinic! I have been taking my cat (and other animals I have found) here for 3 years, and have not had a bad experience. They are quick to make appointments with. We do not schedule with a specific vet, just whoever can see my cat. I have been really happy with every vet we have had. It's so affordable, and they really really do care about your pet. There is a specific vet tech who is usually working, and she is exceptionally good. She's great at her job and will take great care of your pet, no matter how sick they are. She remembers my cat each time we go in and treats him like her own. There is a downside- if you have an appointment later in the day there is usually a pretty long wait. It is best to schedule earlier in the morning if you can. They also take walk ins, but I have never utilized that. Also, the mobile pet clinic that they offer is a little sketchy to me. I would not suggest it nor will I return. I felt that it was too much stress for my cat to handle, but might be okay for a dog that needs just shots and you're in a pinch. However, I would and have recommended the clinic to everyone. They are amazing! Read Less

We just adopted Jack, a Boston terrier, and needed the full work up on him... shots, vaccines, exam, treatments. The entire staff is super sweet especially the vet Carlos! They explained everything to us and gave us options on medicines based on how much we could spend and what made the most sense for Jack. Took my dog in because he wasn't feeling great and in increasing pain/discomfortVisit one, after physical exam they couldn't find anything wrong and recommended mild diet, bring him back if not improved.Visit two, bloodwork, continue with mild dietVisit three, another exam, X-rays and diagnosis (wrong diagnosis) meds given.Visits were all consecutive days, on evening of my third visit I took my dog to emergency vet, they examined, repeated X-rays and correctly diagnosed and treated my dog. Within a half hour of correct treatment my dog was pain free. It was a simple injury that should've been picked up by a competent vet. Instead, my dog suffered needlessly for 3 days. I gave them two stars because the staff is kind and caring, just not up to treating beyond well checks. Read Less

I take my dog and 2 cats here for all of their check ups and non-life threatening emergencies.  It's not much to look at (inside or out) but it is always clean and well-kept.  If this is how they keep costs low, I'm fine with that. I rarely ever have to wait longer than 10 minutes to be seen and the staff remembers me on sight (might be me, might be the dog- he's pretty memorable). They are always incredibly friendly and helpful.  When I first adopted him as a stray he was serviced for a neuter and a skin condition at First Coast No More Homeless Pets.  They did some of his shots but since it's on the other side of town, Pet Shots was able to take his records from there and get him on a program with them which included extended care for his skin and ears. They are great with cats as well and were very helpful in getting mine on a flea and heartworm regimen. They have never tried to up-sell me on anything, only recommending what is necessary for my pets well-being.  They are wonderful with animals, lovely with people and exceptionally helpful and convenient.  I recommend them to everybody. This office is a wonderful addition to the beach.  I've been there three times now: twice with a kitty that I adopted and once with one of my other kitties.  Dr. Epstein (I hope that's how you spell it) is really good with the cats and cognizant of the need to control costs.  I just took my middle kitty to him because I was told by another clinic that she needed to have a dental cleaning.  Dr. E. looked at her mouth thoroughly and determined that, if I needed to for financial reasons, I could wait until the summer or perhaps even fall before having a dental done.  He did suggest a tube of pet toothpaste that I purchased for $10. ��Had I needed to do the dental cleaning immediately it would have been approximately $150 or $160 vs. the $350 that my regular kitty vet office quoted me.  Serious savings and caring people.  Also, had read one of the filtered posts where someone mentioned how one of the tech's was bad-mouthing Animal Control.  Don't know if the staff has been coached on this or not, but it was interesting that the tech that was helping me this last time went out of her way to say what a great job Animal Control was doing.  There was a Neptune Beach Animal Control official in the waiting-room, so it's quite possible that it was a heartfelt accolade. Pet Shots Affordable Animal Clinic is great for any dog and pet owner, even if on a budget or looking for a great, cheap vet in the Jax Beach area. I took my Dog, Ben, for a heartworm update.  He had a low cost heartworm test and heartworm meds. Iverheart Plus and Heartgard Plus heartworm medication are cheap here! This is a good place to bring your dog or cat if you are on a budget. The location was small but clean. The vet we saw was very informative and helpful. I wanted to treat my dog's allergies but wanted to avoid steroids if possible (even though they work) because she acts like a maniac when she takes them. We came up with a good antibiotic/steroid spray treatment that worked. I also really like how this clinic is supportive of FOJA, Friends of Jacksonville Animals, the non-profit that supports the city shelter. We have a great group at the beach that Pet Shots has helped.Here's the reason for my three-star review:1) It took awhile for them to get my meds thru 1800PetMeds. I wish they'd just had the medicine on hand, or had followed up on my visit. Maybe I'm spoiled by the treatment at Coastal Vet Hospital, but it took about two weeks to get the prescription for my cat's flea medicine. They were good once I followed up, however, I did get two phone calls from them. One girl said they couldn't email, only fax. The next caller said they couldn't fax, only email and that the other girl was wrong. Huh?? We finally figured out that the mobile clinic has to email, the Jax Beach clinic has to fax. Although why they can't both email is beyond me.2) While we were checking out, one of the vet techs was talking very negatively about Animal Care and Protective Services. I know that in addition to doing adoptions, the city also has to do things like regulation rabies licensing, pick up strays, issue violations, and handle cruelty cases. However, this tech was saying things that I know aren't true. It just irked me that she would talk so disparagingly about ACPS while she was at work. I'd rather she not speak that way about the shelter when we are working so hard to change their image to the community. It doesn't do the animals any good when someone talks about the shelter that way.Overall, I came here to save some money and I did. I got my dog's allergies treated and I eventually got rid of my cat's fleas.  Anyone who is on a budget and wants to still give their pets quality care should consider this clinic. Read Less
