Every time we pulled up in the parking lot, he was more excited than any other dog I've seen to get INSIDE. They have treated our family with such care, love, and devotion for over 14 years and we have been both blessed and honored with their care. As a TEAM, the Shoreline Community has helped guide us through pancreatitis, various sicknesses, an ocular prolapse, and an adrenal gland tumor. I consider them family and always will. Really Unhelpful - I came home to my dog who had what looked like pink eye (he has had this once before). I called Shoreline and they put me on hold for ten minutes, which is the time it would have taken me to drive to them. They told me they didn't have enough time to see him before the end of the day and that they also recommended I don't wait on them to get him seen (aka go to the ER at $89 a visit). I asked if he could be seen the following day and the receptionist begrudgingly put us down but then told me it was a rolling appointment and I would likely wait 45 minutes to 1:30 minutes....I am so disappointed in this practice as of late. We had to unfortunately help our 17 year old "puppy" cross the rainbow bridge. All the personal at Shoreline were so helpful and sensitive to what we were going through. I have used the services of Shoreline for more than 10 years and always found the staff to be professional and helpful. Dr. McKay always listens to what I have to say about my animals and is truly concerned about their well being. My Doberman (Mitzi) is now 3 years old and had it not been for Affiliated Veterinary Emergency Center and Shoreline I would have lost her after accidental ingestion of ibuprofen. My younger Doberman (Gretchen) is just over 1 year, at 5 months old she injured her hind leg (strain/sprain verses something more serious). After examination and x-rays, strict rest and medications we returned to Shoreline for re-evaluation. Gretchen demonstrated minimal improvement at which time I was strongly encouraged by Dr. McKay to take Gretchen in to see a specialist for further evaluation. Dr. McKay was concern that she could have a cruciate ligament tear and explained that without the correct care this could have a negative impact on Gretchen's quality of life over the long term. Fortunately, for Gretchen and my wallet the injury turned out not to be a cruciate ligament tear just a severe sprain that required rest and medication. All of this to say I highly recommend (and often do) Shoreline and find their staff overall to be very caring and concerned about my girls. Do NOT bring your pet here if he/she has a serious problem. After spending thousands of dollars at Shoreline, I finally brought my pet to the Veterinary Specialists off Southside who were able to diagnosis him on the first visit. We have been clients at Shoreline over 30 years. Dr. Sturrock and now Drs. McKay and Sander are excellent veterinarians. They have taken such good care of all our beloved animals. They have helped extend the lives of several of my dogs, giving them a great quality of life. When it was time for each of them to leave us, their compassion and kindness was immeasurable. Words cannot describe my disgust with Shoreline Vets. I brought my dog, a 7 y.o. mix breed, who was showing signs of lethargy and frequent urination. They came back with a diagnosis of diabetes, which I understand can be difficult to regulate. Over the course over several months, my fiancé and I brought our dog to them no less than a dozen times, trying to set a baseline for his insulin doses. This was $60+ for each visit, plus several hundred dollars 3 separate occasions for diagnostics. Our dogs blood sugar was never at an acceptable level, and the insulin doses continued to rise every visit, at the Vets recommendation. Several thousand dollars later, and many day-long visits, I decided to consult another vet, and I was told his dosage was too high. Around this same time, my dog went COMPLETELY BLIND FROM UNREGULATED DIABETES. I took him to a specialist, who in one visit, with a few tests, informed me he had a thyroid problem that was the underlying cause of the diabetes. He is now regulated, and his blood sugar is at an acceptable level, albeit COMPLETELY BLIND, no thanks to the Vets at Shoreline. If not for the advice for other professionals and other opinions, who knows if my dog would still be here today. Please head my advice, Shoreline Vets are more than happy to take your money, but less than willing to admit they are out of their field of expertise. Read Less

Went to pick up my dog from boarding him all weekend. Long story short I fell in the parking lot and hurt myself. All of the ladies in the office were so nice and helped my call someone, gave me an ice pack and then at 6:30 last night called to check to see how I was doing. We have been bringing our pets to Shoreline for 5 years. We have always experienced excellent and caring service. Dr. McKay always goes above and beyond to help with our dogs.  She is kind, compassionate and very knowledgeable.  She helped us with our 16 year old poodle, Cocoa in his last years.  We live 35 minutes from Shoreline and have many other veterinary options from which to choose.  It is the exceptional  care  that takes us all the way from San Marco to the beach!The people and their superior service make the drive worthwhile. I was recommended to Shoreline by two different families and took my elderly Maine Coon there. I take very good care of my cat but because of a huge problem with a prior cat and a vet in another city, I'm very particular about what medicines and treatments I will allow. The vets I saw here never once argued with me, they listened to my reasoning and agreed that I was doing what was best. They also knew my cat's breed! Rare for vets, I can assure you. I was only with Shoreline for a few years (shortly after we moved here) but they were always wonderful and gracious. Then, the worst happened and my beautiful Katrina's health was failing to the point that it was causing her to suffer. She was almost 17yrs old and even tho it broke my heart, she had to be put to sleep. I was waiting for the frustration for me to stop crying and get out of their way so they could be done with it. It never came. They let me hold her head and talk to her while they worked and were the kindest and most wonderful vets I've seen in a long time. I'm thankful that they, the whole staff since this kind of brought everyone out and I got hugs from them and even another client, were with me during this horrible time. Always loved this veterinarian,  however, at a regular vet appointment for my lab we told staff we had just put our boxer, Luke, to sleep using home hospice vet from laps of love. I was tortured that they showed no empathy as they  euthanized a dog from the area animal control in front of us in a kennel in the parking lot because the dog had not be claimed and was "aggressive" ...Prior to the city employee bringing the dog in she said "I gave him 4 xanax too, he is loopy,  I figured the worst that would happen us I would not have to come in here." So the truth is she began over dosing the dog in humanely then brought the dog for a final blow alone in a cold kennel in front of a family that just lost one of their beloved pets.Never will I return. The male vet was always kind, gracious & empathetic.  The woman we saw today was cold, cruel and they all should be ashamed for what they did to that dog. Read Less

We love Dr MacKay at Shoreline. She has been our vet at the end of one dog's life, for the full 10 years of another one, and now as we are walking through yet another difficult time with a third English Springer Spaniel.
