Thank goodness we found this clinic after our kitten got sick. I could go on forever about how Dr. Rogers and her staff were so good to us and our kitten. This vet is the absolute best one to take a cat to. They are wonderful, and due to their specialization in feline medicine they are more knowledgeable than a regular vet. The pricing is approximately 15% more than a normal vet, but the specialized care is worth every single penny. We had an issue with a rescue that we got our last cat from, and the woman who runs it threatened to take the cat away from us (she was exceptionally cuckoo for cocoa puffs) by going to our vet and getting him after his neuter. So we called and spoke to the vet and staff on duty to warn them about her, and their response was basically "over our dead bodies, you're good pet parents and we know that because you've been coming here for years." I will not go to any other vet unless it's an emergency (because they're not 24/7). Read Less

I LOVED this office! I just moved to Jax and was in search of a cat only vet office and I am so happy I found them. I loved the cute cat decor and water and coffee in the waiting room. The large exam rooms didn't have those awful stainless steel tables in the center and that sterile feeling. Every staff member was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Dr. Parker offered so much useful info about my cat and she and the vet tech knew exactly how to handle him, as he wasn't very happy (what cat is at the vet?). She even suggested some sights in Jax that I should check out, since I'm new here. Since this was my cat's first visit they asked a lot of questions about him for his file, which I really appreciated. I have never received such personalized attention from a vet. They trimmed his nails at no charge and managed to get them all, even though he acts like he is possessed by the devil when you try to trim his nails. They provided a list of recommended foods that contained brands in all price ranges, not just the expensive food. They gave him a peacock feather to play with and take home. I can't recommend A Cat Clinic enough! Read Less

From the first exam my cat was very stressed. I'd not seen this in him at his first vet. As soon as my cat began to cry the doctor said "the exam is over, we don't want to stress him out." What struck me was the absence of authority or control the doctor had with him that I'd seen with his first vet. Similar to riding a horse, if the horse senses the rider is not in charge he'll try to buck him off or not obey commands. I just figured another doctor in the practice would work out. Subsequently I boarded him with Cat Clinic while in Canada for business. In the late afternoon I receive a call from Cat Clinic and the doctor (a different one) tells me that my cat won't quit meowing and crying. I asked her what she'd like me to do about it. She said she felt I should come get him as he was inconsolable. I advised her to put a blanket over his cage and he'll probably go to sleep. I couldn't believe I was telling this vet how to do her job. After all this I decided to not burden this practice with my cat any longer and transferred his care to another. I was worried at first that he would stress out again. He never did. Every exam when smooth and the couple times I boarded him the staff said he was particularly quiet. He wasn't happy about any of it, but he didn't have the previous level of stress. Read Less

This place was amazing! We were nervous to take our cat to the vet after our last encounter with our previous vet. He fixed our female kitten and she was in extreme pain after the fact (again, at a different vet).... This place, on the other hand, was SOOOOO amazing! Our cats warmed up quickly to the ladies that were handling them. They're usually skittish but seemed to be more calm because of the atmosphere of the whole place. The assistants (i think that's what you call them) were very personable and were very sweet to our kittens. They did a great job and handling them in a way that they didn't try to run away from them. When the Vet came in, she was very gentle and talked sweetly to our kittens as if they were their own cat that they were trying to calm down. The reaction that the cats had when the vet took the weight, checked ears, etc, seemed to be a much better response than from other vets. Many cats try to get away when a vet is checking their ears and such because the cat is trying to get away but our kittens seemed to relaxed and seemed to trust the vet even though they had just met. They must have some type of aura or vibe that calmed our cats. We got a cute little feather for the first visit and they even shaved my male cat's tush (gross, i know) because I asked if they had any suggestions on how to keep his hind from matting up. I'll be coming back here for sure simply because you can tell everyone here loves cats and this vet ONLY deals with cats. It's nice to know this because our previous vet even told us he didn't like dealing with cats - i should've taken that as a sign right off the bat... Read Less

My cat has been going to A Cat Clinic for yearseven after we moved away from the immediate area. I've been to other vets, and A Cat Clinic by far has the best staff and doctors for treating the unique needs and personalities of cats. My family and I just went through a very difficult experience. Our cat Maya became ill very suddenly. She stopped eating and drinking, was vomiting and became listless and unwilling to groom herself. I called A Cat Clinic and they took her in first thing that morning. The staff from the front desk to the technicians to the doctors and office management were professorial, compassionate and concerned about our cat and our family. They ran some tests and determined that she had Panleukopenia. Her prognosis was not good, Dr Porter informed me that most cats do not survive. She offered the option to euthanize her, admit her, or send her home after administering fluids, antibiotics and anti-nausea medicine. She explained what we should expect depending on what we chose. We decided to take her home and hope for the best. That night she seemed to be getting a little better. She got up and walked around a little and seemed interested in food but would still not eat or drink. Sadly the next morning she had taken a turn for the worse. She was unresponsive and we could not bear to prolong her suffering. I returned to the clinic the next morning to have her put down. Again the staff was very compassionate. It was like they they were losing their own pet and they were very sympathetic to how sad I was to be losing her. Dr Clarke performed the procedure while I was there to comfort Maya in her last few moments. Dr Clarke was very sympathetic to me and to Maya, she did it quickly without causing Maya any undo stress. A few seconds later, Maya was gone. I'm fairly new to Jacksonville and did not know anyone to recommend a cat veterinarian. I went solely on online reviews when I contacted them. I'm so glad I did. A lot of the reviews from other places I checked were negative, they often mentioned things like rude staff and overcharging. You won't find that here. They charged a fair and reasonable price for everything they did, but most of all, I know they cared. As long as I live here I will never go anywhere else to take care of my cats. Read Less

I have taken my cats to "A Cat Crlinic" since first hearing about it, in probably the late 1990's. Dr Allison Rogers, the founder, is a wonderful person and excellent veterinarian, and I cannot say enough good things about her. This clinic is fully 45 min. or more from where I live, but I feel it is worth it to make the trip with my cats. Cost is about equivilent to other vets, but what the Cat Clinic vets have is extra training in cats as a specialty. My understanding is that most veterinarians while being trained in school concentrate on dog illnesses and treatment. Dr Rogers, and the veterinarians working for/with her are all totally and entirely vets for cats. It does make a big difference in my opinion. The cats are calmer in the waiting room, with no dogs or other animals there with them. I feel that Dr Rogers was the main reason my former, much beloved cat, lived a full 21 years of quality lifespan. She checked his blood, his kidneys, diagnosed his hyperthyroidism and treated it....She also found a tumor in his ear which several veterinarians at other clinics had described as ear mites and given me ear mite medication for----she was the first vet to clear up the ear infection (by taking samples and sending them to a lab, as opposed to just looking at them and making an assumption. That also allowed her to put him on the correct medicine to get rid of them! ) Then, she was finally be able to see the tumor, which no one knew was there, and she then referred us to the Veterinary Surgical Clinic for removal (it was benign). I appreciated her being able to find the tumor and not just keep assuming it was ear mites; also that she had no false pride in that she referred him immediately to specialists to remove it. I've always appreciated the Cat Clinic. They are warm, caring and professional and seem to truly be concerned for the cats. They have a very nice boarding facility for the cats as well. One of my friends kept her cat there for many months while she was deployed overseas by the Navy. I highly recommend the Cat Clinic, at either of its' two locations, for any cat owner/lover! I've been visiting vets up and down the east coast of Florida with various cats over the past 15 years, and by FAR, The Cat Clinic is the best vet clinic I've ever been to.  I love that it's for cats only.  There's nothing that makes a vet visit even worse for a cat than sitting in the reception area listening to howling dogs.  The reception area at the Cat Clinic is a nice, calm area (and the front desk people are AWESOME.  They're extremely kind, patient, and caring.  My cat and I have been frequent visitors during the past month due to a serious hairball problem, and they've gotten to the point where they all greet me and my cat by name when we enter.)The vets there are SPECTACULAR, especially Dr. Clarke.  She takes a genuine interest in the welfare of her feline patients, going so far as to call me on her days off several times, and during a holiday weekend, to check up on my cat in the days following her intestinal surgery. The .... nurses?  techs? I'm not sure what they're called, but they're all wonderful as well.  Very professional and they all answered my questions completely, and one was very patient when she trained me how to administer fluids subcutaneously during the aforementioned long holiday weekend following the surgery.I've used their boarding services twice in the past, and have been completely satisfied.  It makes me feel much better when I'm gone that  a vet is nearby should anything go wrong and that the staff knows what to look for.  While the cat's not too thrilled about being away from home, I know that she's in great hands and I feel much better about her being there instead of alone at home.Everyone here is absolutely wonderful, and they all go above and beyond for the sake of keeping your cat healthy and safe. After I moved here from Memphis my cat developed an upper respiratory infection. She is 18 but is just never sick. I wanted to board her while going to a convention and needed care as well. Dr. Rogers and staff took great care of my baby and is bringing her back to health. I will be bringing her here when she needs additional care. Only cats are treated and they love them!Update 6 Weeks Later: Elle's right eye was dilated so I took her back for an emergency exam on Saturday. Sadly, she has developed an inoperable tumor. The Cat Clinic will be doing her arrangements.

Read Less

The whole staff is professional and calm and calmed my kitty down right away every time we've been there. She us had life threatening illness twice and both times the vet was competent and did not charge for unnecessary treatments.the vet called multiple times after hours to check on her, let us stay at the office all day when my cat needed fluids and the staff even sent me home with a crate and new toy for daisy. My cat has been going to A Cat Clinic for yearseven after we moved away from the immediate area. I've been to other vets, and A Cat Clinic by far has the best staff and doctors for treating the unique needs and personalities of cats. They even saved his life a few years ago when he indulged in his habit of eating inanimate objects and ended up with a blockage.
