I love Animal Care @ TLC & fully trust my labs with them. As soon as I pull into the parking lot my dogs get so excited.- that says a lot. Once we go into the center both my dogs goes bananas - they are so happy to see everyone. That tells me THEY trust & love the doctors, techs and all the staff there. Always have had the best experiences here and I pay the money for PIECE OF MIND! These doctors truly care for animals like their own, are compassionate and intelligent. I'm happy to pay knowing my animal is getting the best care and diagnosis and that he is in good hands with his health issues. I brought my best friend of 12 years old here a few weeks ago for cremation. Sobbing like a child bleary eyed from that mornings loss. In the mail today I received a beautiful card of condolence signed by all the employees. I wasn't a regular at this location by any means but the fact they remember our family in our time of grief was astonishing. I had to evacuate my elderly parents and two female cats inland due to Hurricane Matthew. Unfortunately, my cat became ill with a chronic problem that I have not been able to resolve. Dr. Flood's clinic was next door to our hotel and they were OPEN the Saturday morning after the storm...thank god. Dr. Flood and team saw our kitty right away. They were all so kind, dedicated and compassionate. In addition, we think we may be able to confirm the mystery kitty illness by Tuesday when the lab tests come back. Animal Care at Twin Lakes Center is owned and operated by Dr. Flood and I must say I can see the compassion in his job as well as the rest of the staff here at this clinic. I am fortunate enough to work here for almost three years now and thoroughly enjoy everyone I work with as well as the Doctors. There are protocols we adhere to in order to give the highest quality of care and protect each and every dog that comes into our office. The facility is very clean and welcoming, any time someone walks into our office they always compliment how friendly the staff is as well as how good it always looks/smells. After a recent visit to Animal Care, We will NOT be returning. We recently had a pooch boarded (dropped off on Sat and picked up Mon), expecting to pay 50.00 we received a bill for 75.00. Apparently they charge an automatic 25.00 grooming fee for any pooch boarded more than 2 nights. This is something I feel should be explained at drop off (especially for new customers). I specifically asked the boarding rates. If this is inclusive of their rates it should be explained. When I questioned the office staff, her response was "well you signed the paper". I agree with the last commenter that they are good but overcharge. My other concern is Googles flawed rating. Prior to this posting Google says 4.2 out of 5 stars; however, based on the actual ratings I come up with 68%. That's more like 3.4!Read Less

They do their jobs well but this place is a rip-off. They overcharge for EVERYTHING and push tests and procedures they aren't necessary. I took my 2 dogs for their annual (which they get every year so they weren't behind on immunizations and they needed no special tests performed) and the bill was OVER $800. When I asked for my dog's records (b/c I am going to a nicer and less expensive vet) they wanted to charge me for the records. I'm sorry, but I have given you enough of my money already. Overcharges. Over 400.00 for a minor checkup. When I called to inquire, staff was rude. No call back. Then grab dog, takes her to back with no explanation and bill shows tests for incorrect procedure. This was not Dr. Floyd as he was out of office. Read Less

This place is terrible, they charge me $944, to run a IV and to give my dog pain meds, an overnight stay, before I could even, get in the door good Dr Bryan flood, was already quoted me prices of $3000, and when I told him, I couldn't afford it, he told me he would help me out, by shopping the price for me, that I could do that and he would take an xray and get back with me, so I can know what I was dealing with, but before I left, he wanted me to leave, a deposit of $300 and he would call me, as soon as he got the xrays back, so he called me back and told me, he had a great deal, it was out of this world and he never heard of it in his business, did he proceeded to quoted me a price, of 1200-1500 like I should have been happy, so I told him, that I had called around and somebody, referred me to go 2 Mavericks in Orange Park, so he insist on calling them for me, so he called me back, in about 10 minutes, and said this price was remarkable and they had somebody to do the job, for $400, but he wasn't sure about them, but I need to come up and pick up the x-ray and run it out to them, so they could look at it, to see what they were dealing with, so I agreed to come up and pick up the x-ray, and he told me that $300, I left as a down payment, it would be enough and that he wasn't gonna double dipping and 2 come back in the morning and pick up my dog for surgery, so when I arrived , to pick up my dog, they told me and additional $644 was owe, before I could pick up my dog for surgery and when I told them Dr flood, told me the $300 deposit, was the only thing i owed them, they told me that Dr flood wasn't there and to wait at the desk and when did lady decided to come back, she told me the Dr flood said he had discussed these prices with me, so I paid and got my dog, took him to have his surgery, the surgery was a success, I try to contact Dr flood about 6 times he would never return my calls, so I had to file a dispute with my bank, to try to get my money, thats pending now, so I just want to warn everybody, before you decide, to go to this doctor to beware and on a good note, I just wanna say, Mavericks in Orange Park they're fantastic, you might have to wait a little bit but its worth the money..... I called this vet when my cat passed away at age 18. She was my baby. I carried her in wrapped but in her bed for cremation. They were so nice. They lovingly carried her to the back, while another worker made sure I was ok.  A few days later, I got a sympathy card signed by everyone that worked there. Read Less

Good vet but bad business practices! Over charges, for everything. Always pushing for unnecessary lab work, baths required after 2 days of boarding. 26.00 for a basic bath is required. No option!!! Total rip off. Girls are nice enough but they are more like marketing people than vet assistants or receptionists. They call to push vaccines and lab work on you. I do not recommend! Read Less

I've recommended AC@TLC to a few of my friends with pets. I had the unfortunate opportunity to have a very sick dog just days after I adopted him. He was hospitalized here. They did a great job keeping me up to date regarding his status and how the costs were looking.While they seem a bit more expensive than other vets, I feel very comfortable paying a bit more for better care. I think Dr. Flood is knowledgable and friendly and has a good disposition with animals. Unfortunately, I think he is missing the Business 101 side of his practice. His practice pushes unnecessary blood work as if it's necessary and performs tests and charges you for them without any discussion about the costs, etc. The last straw for my husband was when he took our 6 month old German Shepherd in and Dr. Flood's staff was trying to sell my husband a panel of blood work...for a six month old puppy. For me, the last straw came when we decided to switch vets and I called the office to get a copy of our dog's medical record. The staff person was very rude to me and told me that ""Dr. Flood would have to authorize the release of the record."" Ummm....I thought that since I was the one who footed the bill for all of my dog's care, I kinda had the right to have those records, irregardless of whether or not Dr. Flood wanted to release them. Very strange... Finally, their prices are extremely high. We switched to another vet and were shocked to find out how much lower we should have been paying at Flood's office. We were initially warned about this practice by some of my husbands own patients, but thought we would give him the benefit of the doubt and see for ourselves. Hey everybody, if your looking for an extremely professional and compassionate animal hospital, that offers the highest quality of care, look no further than ANIMAL CARE AT TWIN LAKES CTR!!! Dr Flood, along with his partner in practice, Dr Batten, are in my humble opinion, two of the very best animal doctors that Jacksonville, Fl has to offer! Plus, Animal Care at Twin Lakes Ctr is located right off of 9a south and baymeadows, which makes it very convenient for most people and even if you don't live that close, it's definitely worth the drive!!! Animal Care at Twin lakes Ctr is also one of the nicest animal hospitals i've ever seen! The whole set-up there is very organized and clean, with a very nice boarding facility! I would like to personally thank Dr Flood, Dr Batten and their staff for all their hardwork and for taking such good care of our dog Nemo! They have truly improved the quality of our dog's life!!! Seemed to care-raved about him but he preformed blood work that was unrelated to heart failure-doesn't discuss tests w/ you, but you get BILL on checkout-dog had obvious heart failure but billed for thyroid test and blood work. Dog died 7 days later but that is not Dr. Flood's fault-never questioned the 330.00 bill and sent thank you card. Took different dog in 6 mths. later, Whole different experience.Saw weekend vet, again, without any discussion of what tests are for or costs, gave antibiotics but nothing for underlying reason for pneumonia (old dog=heart failure=Lasix) That bill was $488.00 due to EKG and chest xray. This weekend vet even said dog had irregular heart rhythm but nothing prescribed for that. Gave dog first pill, she threw up so I returned it to Dr. Flood I took dog to Herschel (great new vet there) and dog doing much better. And their same prescription was exactly half the price Dr. Flood charged. HALF and office visit was half. I received call from Dr. Flood's office today saying they wanted to schedule my young (not old like above) dog for a 6mth. blood workup/wellness exam...when I said I don't do that, she responded:""well, then have a nice day"" and slammed phone down. That semi-annual full blood workup seems to me to be clearly just a way to make money. And looking over their recommended exams, they don't even list a 6 mth. workup. Are you kidding me? Who has the money to do clearly unnecessary tests on their pets. and since when does a vet need patients so badly, they call and solicit for tests---And when you decline, they become rude and hang up with ""have a nice day"" remark. You'll will wait at Herschel but Dr. Banks seems good and really liked Dr. Claxton a lot (she's only there on weekends, though) I think Dr. flood is knowledgeable and caring but don't leave your brain and common sense at door. The Doctors and staff of Animal Care @ Twin Lakes Center are excptional! The hospital is spotless and smells nice and clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, the environment is relaxed and efficient. We have brought our pets there for many visits and have always found Dr. Flood to be extremely insightful and sincere. We love Dr. Flood and his staff. Recently we had a kitty get sick on a Sunday. We called Dr. Flood and guess what he and his staff were in. We rushed in and he gave her an examination. So that my time was not wasted he said for me to go back home and he would call me with the diagnosis. He called me with in an hour and gave me the news. The news was bad but he and his staff made the loss easier than it would have been. Thank you Dr. Flood for being open for our animal friends on a Sunday. Nice, convenient facility but you will pay for it. Their fees are extremely high and it will cost you an arm and a leg just to walk in the door. I've had several pets and have used half a dozen vets in Jacksonville over the last 20 years. My current pet has had a recurring health condition which requires medication and the vet said he would work with me. However, now changed his tune saying I need to bring my animal in for a recheck before future prescriptions with be given. I've already spent $800+ at this clinic on the same health issue. Another recheck will cost me a minimum of $100. I'll be looking for another vet. Read Less

Dr. Flood is the kindest and most intelligent vet I have ever been to. He is very easy to relate to because he truly cares about his patients and their families.
