Worst experience ever! My dog which has the wellness plan with Banfield for 7 years now was mistreated and injured during a routine checkup. We dropped her off in the morning and were due to picked her up in the afternoon. We were contacted shortly before the scheduled pickup time and informed that she had suffered injuries when they tried to remove her from the kennel with a metal pole, they claimed she was being aggressive. However, in the past 7 years of always dropping her off she never display any aggression. She suffered a broken nail, a broken tooth and injuries to her tongue. Jennifer, the Chief of staff was completely apathetic, unprofessional and outright rude! She showed no sympathy for the injuries my dog sustained under her staff's supervision. The first words out of her mouth were that she had nothing to do with the incident. To anyone reading this review please DO NOT TAKE YOUR FUR BABIES to this office or any other Banfield! I am cancelling her plan and started the formal complaint process. Read Less

I picked Banfield for my Belgian Malinois's first vet experience. The one closes to me was this one by River city, and I was happy to take my pet somewhere that I had heard so many great things about from customers who visit my work place. However, after my first visit and any phone call afterwards I just got a sour taste in my mouth. The person who usually answers the phone never seems like she's enjoying her job, or her life for that fact. Every hangup isn't a "Goodbye, Have a nice day!" It's more along the lines of  "I'm glad this phone cal is over, I hate my job."This location gets a one star. However, the banfield I'm going to in Regency gets a 5 star. Great greeters, and nice people to talk on the phone with. Change your greeter, Rivercity. Read Less

I am not sure why they are called a hospital. My puppy was throwing up continuously and could not keep water down. To top it off there was a accident and 95 was at a stand still. I came to Banfield because they were very close by and at this point my puppy was throwing up vile in the care and shaking. They originally told me they couldn't see me because they had appoints through closing. They should re-name themselves as a hospital indicates that you can take emergencies on the spot without a appointment. After getting upset they agreed to see my puppy. They took him back to do labs and x-rays. I was in a room and could hear a female vet tech or doctor getting agitated with a dog. After hearing this woman frustration right outside my door as she proceeded to say stay down with a great deal of frustration and "I am trying to get out of here and home to my kids" etc. I decided take a look back to see if this is my dog she is addressing and behold it was. I told her if she needs help I can assist, that this is very unprofessional and if she did not know before that people can hear every word from the exam rooms to the x-ray machine, now she knows. She may have wanted to get home to her kids and I understand that, but I am a upset dog mom here with my sick dog and would love for him to feel better and not be taking up her time with her JOB. Later, I paid over $400 and left and took my dog for further observation at a overnight vet clinic where he had to stay the night. He is fine now but from that experience, I don't care if it is the closest animal "hospital" around, I would rather drive another 30+ minutes to ANY other facility. Read Less

Made an appointment and while sitting there watch techs and employees leaving (at least 5) and then I get told that they "don't know what happened with my appointment but they just don't have the techs available to see your dog today". Seriously frustrating that my dog has an injured foot and no one could take 2 Minutes to see it. The young lady looked at it but said there is nothing she can do and suggested another location. The techs WERE there, but we were not seen before they left. This is not the first time this has happened at this location. Update: I went back in to complain to another front desk person who then told the Dr and tech what happened. The tech cut her lunch short and both gave us 10 minutes of their time to clean her wound, medicate, prescribe medicine and get us taken care of. I have a 12 year old Maltese with a congestive heart failure so needless to say, I go to Banfield a lot.About a year ago my husband and I bought the monthly "pet insurance" and it's been a life saver. We pay $40 a month which is directly charged to our credit card and we receive free office visits and 40-60% off all medications, procedures, etc. Now, let me tell you about the amazing vets here:Dr. Ross Griffis and Dr. Timberlake are amazing!!! Very attentive, will squeeze us in without an appointment, explain everything to us in detail, are so sweet to Snowball, and tell me the cost of everything before they start any procedure. Dr. Griffis even called us at home on Easter Sunday to check up on Snowball because she started taking a new medication and wanted to make sure she was doing ok. Sept 11th 2011. Please stay clear of this place, San Juan Animal Clinic will treat you and your pet way better. Banfield Is A Total Rip off !!!!!!!OMG were to start!!!!. I too have been taking my dogs here for about 6yrs, this location and the NS location, yeah really how sad. Gonni give you three instance's #1: My 1yr old Shit zu has an ear ache, TX: chest x rays lots of blood work Vets finding, ear ache, should've listened to pet owner could've saved my dog the unnecessary discomfort and the pet owners wallet. Oh yeah just so happened I was at work and my 17yr old son took him for that visit, yeah they took full advantage.#2: My dog has blood in his urine, it is pretty common. I had just had my dog to Banfield on the Friday they tested all his organs prior to him having his teeth cleaned its now Monday and they want to test his organs again, wait a minute do you have Fridays results it was just 2days ago!!!!. I insisited on ruling out urinary tract infection before doing any more tests, what would you know the dog had a urinery tract infection, no, really, didn't I tell you that. I did save my self $200 not alllowing them to do all the unnecessary blood work again.#3: I take my dog there he's in obvious pain, he can walk but wines when you go to pick him up. The vet touches him breafly on his back tells me he does not believe anything is broken but he would like to take 4 xrays ($180) he would also be sending the x rays for somebody else to look at, that would take 3days to get the results of there finding.($75), the vet is going to treat my dog from his findings so why do you need somebody else to read the x rays, are you qualified or not ????. They left me with my dog in an waiting room for approximatley 1 1/2 hrs knowing he's in pain present me with a treatment plan for close to $500 not including any take home meds, I question the charges the vet asst tried to talk her way out of the charges and just convince me to do the treatment. Oh yeah they  never did checked my dogs vital signs, don't know if he's running a fever or not, I asked if there was a more conservative way of treating my dog as I didn't have the money to do all the were asking to do, I asked if they could take just one x ray, of course not, I aked for the meds and I would monitor my dog if he got worse then I would bring him back, they reluctantly agree'd. I looked up the meds on the computer and realized he had given me too low a dose for my dog, I followed his advice of course as I am not a vet. The next morning I took my dog to an independant vet who has 24yrs experiance the clinic has been there for 64yrs (San Juan Animal Clinic Jacksonville Fl). The vet put my dog on the table made sure he could move his head, stretched his front and back legs, touched all aournd his back. Oh yeah and checked his vital signs.  His findings yes he has hurt his back I don't feel it is necessary at this time to take an x ray, I showed him the meds I was given the day before he confirmed what I already knew that the pain meds were too low of a dose, he prescribed a higher dose pain med with muscle relaxer and anti inflammatory instructing me to do for the dog like I would myself if I had hurt my back. I did file a formal complaint against Banfield at St Johns Town Centre in jacksonville Fl. The staff there are alright, they are excessive in the treatment planning, they have no compassion for your animals, I will be cancelling my plan asap. I know it feels convieniant to pay the plan every month and you think your saving, not so, I spent $80 today on office visit and meds, I would have spent $500 yesterday at banfield with not even closed to the same standard of care and that was a free office visit. For all of you that have had better experiances than I had I am happy for you. Sometimes your pet doesn't need everything they recommend just be aware Read Less

I've been going here for years and always have great service. My dog has to go in every month or two and they often work it out so I don't have to pay for the visit.
