I took my cat with a swollen belly here and they wanted $800 to just diagnose her. I could not afford this and they seemed to have no idea where to start. It wasn't until after she died that I figured out that she contracted caliciviris from my new kitten and developed FIP. You would think a vet might be able to figure out what was going on with her. My vet right now would know where to start looking and not need to throw every diagnostic tool at her because he has no idea. This was a heartbreaking waste of time and money. They seem to have no knowledge of veterinary disease and are just guessing. Read Less

My 6 month old Welch Pembroke Corgi has obedience classes at this PetSmart.  In the past I went to the one at 356 Monument Rd.  I used the vet at that office also.  The veterinarian and staff at the Jax Beach office have extremely poor communication skills and their records look like they are just trying to sell services and not provide healthcare.  My dog had lab studies that were not normal and I got no information/diagnosis on what the differential diagnosis could be...  I am never going back to this vet office!!! First time experience with this Banfield location was great ...we recently moved here so I booked the appointment online and something happened unfortunately my appointment was cancelled or never went through properly BUT this was not a issue as the young lady in the front quickly assessed that my puppy needed to be seen ASAP and she spoke with the vet ( Dr. Page) who was kind enough to fit us in between patients we were there for only 45 mins total and it was very efficient!!! The vet ( Dr. Page) was super sweet, great bedside manner and very intelligent she was able to diagnose my puppy in minutes and his treatment plan worked great!!! I am thankful and I am glad to be able to call Dr. Page my puppies new vet !!!! Read Less

I had a good experience here.  I was able to make an appointment the same day and get in to my appointment with very minimal waiting (less than 5 minutes). My dog needed to be put on heartworm/flea medicine so they took him back and it was also quick. We were probably in out within 30 minutes! The vet tech and doctors were nice, friendly and knowledgeable. The Vet did not seemed rushed away or in a hurry and thoroughly answered all questions we had! Banfield Pet Hospital at this location is A Cut Above what is regular for animals hospitals. Doctors Bryant and Green have a sincerity and dedication that I have not experienced at other pet hospitals. First of all they never rush through a visit. Secondly they keep their word and follow up with any recommendations.For example my Brooke had a skin issue and Allergy tests were taken. Dr. Green knowing my concerns called me on a Saturday afternoon to read the test results to me. Many human doctors have not shown me that type of consideration.The Banfield staff and the workers at PetSmart keep the building clean and I love that I can walk in and it not smell like a zoo Read Less

Do Not Use Them! If you pet has anything other than regular shots, you need to see a vet that will spend the time and find out what is wrong, not just a well we ran tests and see nothing I don't know. This attitude and lack of looking at an animals medical history for an issue will result in a DEAD animal, lots of money spent. I went there for 8 year thinking they were on top of my pets health, told not to worry, and he is dead. Thanks appreciate all the heartache. Read Less

Banfield does an exceptional job in caring for my little ones. Kelly, Dr. Greene and Dr. Bryant truly care. The Banfield model itself is predicated on upselling, but the Dr.'s do the best to avoid it when possible and upselling is not the Dr.'s or the staff's fault. Banfield serves a purpose and if they weren't there who knows how many little ones would not get care. I've never seen this location act in anyway other than doing what is best for the pet and sometimes that does involve cost. At the end of the day, they are very caring, knowledgeable and well intentional individuals. Read Less

Don't go here! We had previously had problems getting a urine sample here for her labs so we didn't let her go to the bathroom in the morning. She was whining leaving the house (she only does this when she has to use the bathroom), whining in the consult room, we ask if they're busy, we could walk her and get the sample, she has to go though. They said vet will get it out of her bladder, results are better. Drop off was at 8am, got a call at 3 saying they were unable to get a sample. We said no way she has gone 16-17 hours without using the bathroom, they said well she went in her crate but they can't get a sample from that, and she hasn't gone in a crate in years. So they put her up, she tourtured herself for no telling how long holding it in, and then had to sit in her own #1 and #2 apparently for however long. Read Less

So many hidden fees that it wasn't worth it. They were not straight forward at all from the beginning and every person I talked to gave me a different estimate for the services. At the end, I found out that the estimate for the wellness plan was $300 over what every had already told me. They didn't tell me any of the fees up front and didn't print me out anything (which I asked for in the very beginning) until the very end of the appt. Wouldn't go back. Read Less

I've been going to this Banfield location for a few years with no issues. I brought one of my cats in today for a drop off visit to be boarded during the day and seen when they had the time between scheduled appts. I have done this a few times with no problems as it normally gets you in to the vet faster that way.  When picking up my cat at the end of the day, I was told he urinated on himself and that I needed to wait a bit for them to clean him up to bring him out. After 5 min or so, a tech came back and asked if they could give him a bath bc it was a large accident. I said yes and waited for them to bring him back. Once we checked out and I got my cat in the car, it became immediately apparent me that he had NOT been bathed as he reeked of cat urine. Not only had my cat sat in his own urine for some amount of time at the clinic, he was sent home covered in it from neck to tail. This is extremely unsanitary, unprofessional, and unacceptable considering the amount of money I spend at this vet every time I visit. Very disappointed. Read Less

We have 5 pets that go there. We've never had a single issue with Dr. Green or the other docs. All of our animals have lived a long, healthy, fruitful life. Medical care for pets isn't cheap and 3 of our pets are on the wellness plan. The wellness plan is a great deal especially for our senior pets. Yes, I'm aware of the issue with the dog who got out but the dog was found. I mentioned it to the staff and they said it was the only time that has ever happened and the entire staff was devastated and the doctors were in tears over it. The dog was found and was OK. If you actually speak with the doctors, you can tell they are passionate about animals and go the extra mile to help out. I've never seen one of the docs talk about the wellness plan but yeah the nurses and front desk mention it because it will definitely save money in the long run if you have your dog on a maintenance schedule. Sometimes they are completely slammed so you don't get much time with a doc but if there is a serious issue, they will give your dog precedence. They cleared their schedules for my dog who fell down the stairs even though they were slammed on a holiday, and I'm sure a bunch of people were pissed off at them but they did it because my dog needed immediate care. I've probably been to banfield 40 or more times and never had an issue. Animals can't talk and medical care is expensive, and people seem to explode if vets don't get it 100% right the first time which is a ridiculous expectation. Read Less

I thought that this pet hospital would be reputable since it is associated with PetSmart, but I was so wrong. All they truly care about is getting your money and could care less after you leave. I recently got my puppy spayed and I have the puppy care plan that came with my dog when she was given to me a few months ago so the spaying was free since it was included in the plan. Knowing that it was free and I would only have to pay for her pain medication I added a few extra services since I was already bringing her in. They did not mention any extra fees, only that if there were complications where they wouldn't be able to do the procedure I would have to pay for the cost of the blood work done before they do the surgery (roughly $140). When I went to go pick up my dog, they added another $60 for "complications" since my dog was in heat and when I asked about it, they had a response automatically that it took extra time and resources so that's why they are charging me extra and even said that "I was lucky I only had to pay another $60 because it's usually $80-$90 when this kind of thing happens so they did me a favor by not charging the full amount." Also, when I was dropping my dog off the nurse seemed like she didn't really know she was doing. When I was asking her questions about the microchip she did not know how to answer them, and i asked her to not in my file the correct name to put on the microchip since there are multiple names on the account which were completely disregarded. To top it all off, when I was leaving they said they were going to call me in 7-10 days to check up and see how my dog was healing. It is now day 14 and they still have yet to contact me regarding my furbaby. I am so disappointed with the customer service here and am going to let everyone I know to stay far away from here! Bottom Line: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IT YOUR MONEY!!! Read Less

Then his hair was falling out with lesions on his skin and itching which they said was ringworm with very LITTLE testing, then made us shave him for treatment he looked horrible...After a YEAR of no relief & money down the drain, we took him to a different vet. The new vet immediately diagnosed him with staph infection, saying he could tell the dog has had this going on for a while! He was also furious at the vets at banfield, saying this was SIMPLE and EASY to diagnose, VETERINARY 101!!! If you love your pets, DO NOT take them here! On top of all of this, they charge out the a$$ monthly and ROB you when it comes to testing/treatment!! Read Less

I always knew I was paying to much for the Wellness Plan, but the convenience made it worth it (#melazy).  Although, it has become increasingly more apparent that they only care about the bottom line and truly do not have the best interest of you or your pet in mind.  Understand, you and your pet ARE an "Up Sell" opportunity and nothing more.  Banfield is a large corporate monster that forgot they are dealing with folks that take better care of their pets then they do themselves.  On second thought, they didn't forget that, THEY prey on it.  So, now with their not so user friendly new scheduling program, the convenience factor is gone as well.  I accepted the overpaying for many years and even understood that I was just an "open wallet" in their eyes, but now they are making it more difficult for me to schedule my dogs for their routine check-ups.  Sometimes its only takes the slightest thing to tip the scales of worth it or not.The benefit no longer out weighs the negatives.  I will be fulfilling my current obligations and pulling each dog away from this corporate beast as their individual contracts expire.  You'd be wise to do your research before deciding to partner with Banfield Pet Hospital.  By the way....  You can sign up for the program at your local office, but if you want to not be on the AUTO RENEW plan or you have to remove a pet for any reason...  You'll have to call in and talk to "Jake" at their Oregon headquarters.  So here's to keeping more of my money local and supporting the small guy. What a racket. Was wondering if the Doctor was Vet who was concerned for my pet, or salesman. They must get paid a commission for pet insurance, and the number of testing procedures they perform. Waste of time and energy for some flea meds. Don't expect to get direct medical attention, with out paying for a multitude of very pricey tests, that have very obvious diagnoses. But hey... you can always pick up another monthly bill of $40 and get their insurance. Conclusion... I would say this clinic is more in it for profit, then actually care of your animal, but I guess everyone has to make a million these days, that's business. Good Luck. Read Less

Our cat had surgery and then had a complication.  We were very upset about the complication that occurred during his overnight hospital stay.  Dr. Timberlake went out of his way to correct the issue.  He personally called and then spoke to us again when we picked up our cat.  We are impressed that he put so much effort into fixing the problem.  The support staff is adequate/below adequate.  The support staff provides inadequate info.  My cat got pain meds for at home, they had air in the syringe so he got 0.15 mls instead of the prescribed 0.2 mls.  It is very easy to get an appt, even the same day.  The facility is very clean.  We are on the fence about staying with this vet or finding a new one. I've been bringing my dog Niko here ever since I adopted him from the humane society in 2009, and although he doesn't want to have anything to to with Banfield, or any place where he thinks he's going to be left/groomed, or poked and prodded, they have taken very good care of him. He even has there doggy wellness Insurance plan which allows for him to get the most possible benefits out of the vet every year without it costing us a fourtune. They also do genuinely care about your pets, as I have been having issues with Niko having a lot of anxiety and most vets would just give me a prescription for some anti-anxiety medication for him, but at Banfield they actually care enough about him to tell me that that most of those meds could be potentially harmful to him if not fatal, and they recommend something more natural. So although Niko may not be ecstatic when he goes for his check ups at Banfield, at least I know that they are taking good care of him. Read Less

It wasn't until after she died that I figured out that she contracted caliciviris from my new kitten and developed FIP. You would think a vet might be able to figure out what was going on with her. My vet right now would know where to start looking and not need to throw every diagnostic tool at her because he has no idea. This was a heartbreaking waste of time and money. My 6 month old Welch Pembroke Corgi has obedience classes at this PetSmart.  In the past I went to the one at 356 Monument Rd.  I used the vet at that office also.  The veterinarian and staff at the Jax Beach office have extremely poor communication skills and their records look like they are just trying to sell services and not provide healthcare.  My dog had lab studies that were not normal and I got no information/diagnosis on what the differential diagnosis could be...  I am never going back to this vet office!!! First time experience with this Banfield location was great ...we recently moved here so I booked the appointment online and something happened unfortunately my appointment was cancelled or never went through properly BUT this was not a issue as the young lady in the front quickly assessed that my puppy needed to be seen ASAP and she spoke with the vet ( Dr. Page) who was kind enough to fit us in between patients we were there for only 45 mins total and it was very efficient!!! The vet ( Dr. Page) was super sweet, great bedside manner and very intelligent she was able to diagnose my puppy in minutes and his treatment plan worked great!!! My dog needed to be put on heartworm/flea medicine so they took him back and it was also quick. We were probably in out within 30 minutes! The vet tech and doctors were nice, friendly and knowledgeable. The Vet did not seemed rushed away or in a hurry and thoroughly answered all questions we had! Doctors Bryant and Green have a sincerity and dedication that I have not experienced at other pet hospitals. First of all they never rush through a visit. Secondly they keep their word and follow up with any recommendations.For example my Brooke had a skin issue and Allergy tests were taken. Dr. Green knowing my concerns called me on a Saturday afternoon to read the test results to me. The Banfield model itself is predicated on upselling, but the Dr.'s do the best to avoid it when possible and upselling is not the Dr.'s or the staff's fault. Banfield serves a purpose and if they weren't there who knows how many little ones would not get care. I've never seen this location act in anyway other than doing what is best for the pet and sometimes that does involve cost. Don't go here! We had previously had problems getting a urine sample here for her labs so we didn't let her go to the bathroom in the morning. She was whining leaving the house (she only does this when she has to use the bathroom), whining in the consult room, we ask if they're busy, we could walk her and get the sample, she has to go though. They said vet will get it out of her bladder, results are better. Drop off was at 8am, got a call at 3 saying they were unable to get a sample. We said no way she has gone 16-17 hours without using the bathroom, they said well she went in her crate but they can't get a sample from that, and she hasn't gone in a crate in years. So they put her up, she tourtured herself for no telling how long holding it in, and then had to sit in her own #1 and #2 apparently for however long. Read Less

I've been going to this Banfield location for a few years with no issues. I brought one of my cats in today for a drop off visit to be boarded during the day and seen when they had the time between scheduled appts. I have done this a few times with no problems as it normally gets you in to the vet faster that way.  When picking up my cat at the end of the day, I was told he urinated on himself and that I needed to wait a bit for them to clean him up to bring him out. After 5 min or so, a tech came back and asked if they could give him a bath bc it was a large accident. I said yes and waited for them to bring him back. Once we checked out and I got my cat in the car, it became immediately apparent me that he had NOT been bathed as he reeked of cat urine. Not only had my cat sat in his own urine for some amount of time at the clinic, he was sent home covered in it from neck to tail. This is extremely unsanitary, unprofessional, and unacceptable considering the amount of money I spend at this vet every time I visit. Very disappointed. Read Less

We have 5 pets that go there. We've never had a single issue with Dr. Green or the other docs. All of our animals have lived a long, healthy, fruitful life. Medical care for pets isn't cheap and 3 of our pets are on the wellness plan. The wellness plan is a great deal especially for our senior pets. Yes, I'm aware of the issue with the dog who got out but the dog was found. I mentioned it to the staff and they said it was the only time that has ever happened and the entire staff was devastated and the doctors were in tears over it. The dog was found and was OK. If you actually speak with the doctors, you can tell they are passionate about animals and go the extra mile to help out. I've never seen one of the docs talk about the wellness plan but yeah the nurses and front desk mention it because it will definitely save money in the long run if you have your dog on a maintenance schedule. Sometimes they are completely slammed so you don't get much time with a doc but if there is a serious issue, they will give your dog precedence. They cleared their schedules for my dog who fell down the stairs even though they were slammed on a holiday, and I'm sure a bunch of people were pissed off at them but they did it because my dog needed immediate care. I've probably been to banfield 40 or more times and never had an issue. Animals can't talk and medical care is expensive, and people seem to explode if vets don't get it 100% right the first time which is a ridiculous expectation. Read Less

I thought that this pet hospital would be reputable since it is associated with PetSmart, but I was so wrong. All they truly care about is getting your money and could care less after you leave. I recently got my puppy spayed and I have the puppy care plan that came with my dog when she was given to me a few months ago so the spaying was free since it was included in the plan. Knowing that it was free and I would only have to pay for her pain medication I added a few extra services since I was already bringing her in. They did not mention any extra fees, only that if there were complications where they wouldn't be able to do the procedure I would have to pay for the cost of the blood work done before they do the surgery (roughly $140). When I went to go pick up my dog, they added another $60 for "complications" since my dog was in heat and when I asked about it, they had a response automatically that it took extra time and resources so that's why they are charging me extra and even said that "I was lucky I only had to pay another $60 because it's usually $80-$90 when this kind of thing happens so they did me a favor by not charging the full amount." Also, when I was dropping my dog off the nurse seemed like she didn't really know she was doing. When I was asking her questions about the microchip she did not know how to answer them, and i asked her to not in my file the correct name to put on the microchip since there are multiple names on the account which were completely disregarded. To top it all off, when I was leaving they said they were going to call me in 7-10 days to check up and see how my dog was healing. It is now day 14 and they still have yet to contact me regarding my furbaby. I am so disappointed with the customer service here and am going to let everyone I know to stay far away from here! Then his hair was falling out with lesions on his skin and itching which they said was ringworm with very LITTLE testing, then made us shave him for treatment he looked horrible...After a YEAR of no relief & money down the drain, we took him to a different vet. The new vet immediately diagnosed him with staph infection, saying he could tell the dog has had this going on for a while! He was also furious at the vets at banfield, saying this was SIMPLE and EASY to diagnose, VETERINARY 101!!! If you love your pets, DO NOT take them here! I always knew I was paying to much for the Wellness Plan, but the convenience made it worth it (#melazy).  Although, it has become increasingly more apparent that they only care about the bottom line and truly do not have the best interest of you or your pet in mind.  Understand, you and your pet ARE an "Up Sell" opportunity and nothing more.  Banfield is a large corporate monster that forgot they are dealing with folks that take better care of their pets then they do themselves.  On second thought, they didn't forget that, THEY prey on it.  So, now with their not so user friendly new scheduling program, the convenience factor is gone as well.  I accepted the overpaying for many years and even understood that I was just an "open wallet" in their eyes, but now they are making it more difficult for me to schedule my dogs for their routine check-ups.  Sometimes its only takes the slightest thing to tip the scales of worth it or not.The benefit no longer out weighs the negatives.  I will be fulfilling my current obligations and pulling each dog away from this corporate beast as their individual contracts expire.  You'd be wise to do your research before deciding to partner with Banfield Pet Hospital.  By the way....  You can sign up for the program at your local office, but if you want to not be on the AUTO RENEW plan or you have to remove a pet for any reason...  You'll have to call in and talk to "Jake" at their Oregon headquarters.  So here's to keeping more of my money local and supporting the small guy. Waste of time and energy for some flea meds. Don't expect to get direct medical attention, with out paying for a multitude of very pricey tests, that have very obvious diagnoses. But hey... you can always pick up another monthly bill of $40 and get their insurance. Conclusion... I would say this clinic is more in it for profit, then actually care of your animal, but I guess everyone has to make a million these days, that's business. Good Luck. Read Less

Our cat had surgery and then had a complication.  We were very upset about the complication that occurred during his overnight hospital stay.  Dr. Timberlake went out of his way to correct the issue.  He personally called and then spoke to us again when we picked up our cat.  We are impressed that he put so much effort into fixing the problem.  The support staff is adequate/below adequate.  The support staff provides inadequate info.  My cat got pain meds for at home, they had air in the syringe so he got 0.15 mls instead of the prescribed 0.2 mls.  It is very easy to get an appt, even the same day.  The facility is very clean.  We are on the fence about staying with this vet or finding a new one. I've been bringing my dog Niko here ever since I adopted him from the humane society in 2009, and although he doesn't want to have anything to to with Banfield, or any place where he thinks he's going to be left/groomed, or poked and prodded, they have taken very good care of him. He even has there doggy wellness Insurance plan which allows for him to get the most possible benefits out of the vet every year without it costing us a fourtune. They also do genuinely care about your pets, as I have been having issues with Niko having a lot of anxiety and most vets would just give me a prescription for some anti-anxiety medication for him, but at Banfield they actually care enough about him to tell me that that most of those meds could be potentially harmful to him if not fatal, and they recommend something more natural. So although Niko may not be ecstatic when he goes for his check ups at Banfield, at least I know that they are taking good care of him. Read Less
