They can’t figure out the issue with my pets wellness plan. Instead of admitting they made a mistake last August and that their former wellness coordinator did not renew our plan they would rather make excuses and give us a hard time. The plan was supposed to renew in August 2017 but they fired their wellness coordinator for not doing her job. Now the new wellness coordinator refuses to fix the formers mistake and they are trying to make us pay out a plan for 7 months because the new coordinator renewed it in January of 2018. We are moving, we were fine for paying for a plan that we could not use for 2 months but 7 months is ridiculous. We are currently discussing legal actions with lawyers to figure out how we can reconcile this issue. Read Less

I saved a cat from this Vet office about two years ago. I took my said cat to a different Vet just today and I found out that this cat is a MALE not a female like they said.... I do not recommend taking your pet here since the vets OBVIOUSLY do not understand the difference between a vagina and a penis......... With that said I just got off the phone with Cynthia to advise of the issue and she simply gave me an attitude and brushed me off.... She didn't even know what is performed during a regular physical exam... and she calls herself a vet tech. this establishment is a joke. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. I have never written a bad review before, but the way that me and my baby were treated the other day was despicable. First of all, the receptionist at the counter was very rude and unsympathetic towards our situation. I was brought into a room by a nurse with burgundy hair (I believe her name was April) who was very kind to me so I would like to thank her for that. My beautiful Daisy was lethargic, not eating or drinking, drooling everywhere, very weak, and had a temperature of 105.7..... I was hysterical the whole time I was there.. It was almost embarrassing. It was around 6:30-7pm by the time that I was seen and of course I felt bad for showing up so late.. But I had class until late that evening so it really couldn't have worked out any other way. The doctor ran blood tests and did X-rays on my baby, while doing that I explained to the nurse that I had no money and that this would drain my savings account. After the results came back, Dr. Mike tried to sift me off to the emergency clinic!!! Not because we were in an emergency situation, but because it was 7pm and they had closed.. News flash buddy, this is what you LIVE and BREATHE for!!!! This is what you spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on your education for! My cats LIFE was in your hand and you didn't give a damn! It was unprofessional and absolutely inhumane that he did not insist that Daisy be on fluids and antibiotics IMMEDIATELY. Instead, he tried to get me to go to emergency care where I would spend 1,000's of $$$ that I absolutely do not have. They pushed and pushed for me to open a credit card to pay for the expenses (I did the math, I would have spent more with the credit card than I would have if I had just paid up front) that I ultimately would not get approved for. So I went home, stayed up all night with my cat making sure she was getting up to drink water and trying to spoon feed her wet food all while fearing for her life. I took her to a different Forever Vet location in Tinseltown the next morning and they were wonderful there. I don't think I stopped crying from the time that I got her in the car to go to Bay Meadows until the time she got fluids at Tinseltown. From when I walked in and walked out I felt welcomed and taken care of. The staff is so awesome and they bent over backwards to help me out and my baby Louise. They will try to work with you if you have a fixed budget and will name different things that can be done if you are on one. Very helpful and make sure you know what is going on before you leave. They address every problem and if for some reason your baby is feeling better and you don't see a need to return for a check up, no pressure, they just ask that you call and let them know ahead of time. We have been taking our 13 year old French Bulldog to see Dr. G since 2014. But over the last year and a half she has had one health issue after another. Dr. G and the staff at Baymeadows have often gone out of their way to accommodate our needs. For example, when she had an eye ulcer flare back up while traveling out of town and she needed medicine, they proactively emailed me the medical records "just in case I needed them", which I did need for the out of town vet. And when the last health issue became the one that ended her life, the compassion they showed over those last few visits will not be forgotten. So they have my absolute recommendation. Read Less

One of the best vet hospitals I've ever been at. My cat is not the easiest to handle during exams or procedures; in fact he doesn't not cooperate at all. Even when my cat was being extremely aggressive and fighting back at the vet and vet tech they handled the situation in a very calm and professional manner. Dr Mike and Charlene ensured my cat was as comfortable as possible throughout the entire exam from surprisingly violent start to sedated end. I greatly appreciate them and the entire staff for making my cat's visit as stress-free as possible for him. Not to mention the veterinarian and vet tech were friendly and easy to talk to. Making sure I was provided as much information as possible in regards to the exam process, vaccinations, recommendations, and benefits of the wellness plan which made my first visit significantly cheaper ($300-400 difference). By far the best vet I have taken my furbaby Sofia too in the past three years. I'm personally expecting and financially have a lot on my plate at the moment; and they have been nothing but supportive and helpful. They cater to your animals needs and the owners as well. Before they charge you for anything they go through the entire plan and course of action. If you deny something, they come up with another plan to help your furbaby. I've gone through their wellness plan for the past four months, and it includes all my babies shots for a full year and other things your animal needs yearly. They always call and check in on your animal the next day if they were given any shots or treatments and go above and beyond to really make you feel as if your animal is their own. I wish I could remember the young lady who helped the doctor today with Sofia..between you and the doctor; I felt so much help and love for my baby. Thank you to all of the staff!!! I took my perfectly healthy cat to this vet because one of her claws wasn't retracting. She was in perfectly fine health besides babying her paw. The vet gave her the long acting antibiotic Convenia without giving me the option of pilling her, since she has no issues with oral medication. I was told that it would stay in her system for 14 days. No warnings were to side effects. 2 days later my cat's eyes are out of wack, one pupil dilated, the other not. i let them know that something was up with her because she wasn't acting herself and told that this was normal. The cat has progressively gotten worse, not eating, balance is off, hiding, not being her normal self. When I called them back to let them know this, mind you my cat was perfectly healthy so says the vet, I asked would they charge me AGAIN for a visit since she didn't have these issues before. Of course they will. This place is nothing but a money grab. After getting a 2nd opinion I found out the Convenia has deadly side effects, none of this was told to me. Of course this place denies that my car being all of a sudden so ill is the fault of the Convenia shot. I'm pissed. A quick google search before, had it been explained to me prior, would have told me all I needed to know about how dangerous Convenia can be. Once in the system there's no way to stop it. When we got Rose we thought she had kennel cough, and it ended up being deep seated pneumonia. Dr. Mike diagnosed this and Rose pulled through. We kept returning for check ups and every time he would come in and give her the biggest hugs ever. You find a lot of veterinarians everywhere you look but rarely do you find a Veterinarian that shows how much he or she cares about the animals they are looking after like Dr. Mike or Dr. G. The staff that support them are amazing as well they are always kind and make sure you are informed before you leave. I got a GROUPON for this vet. I should have left after the first visit, because they didn't want to honor the GROUPON. Saying it didn't include micro-chip, when the GROUPON clearly stated it did. It was advertised the "deal: as being 67% off as it included a an office visit, the mandatory wellness plan already included that visit, so the savings is a lot less. But, I signed up for the wellness plan, for my healthy 2 1/2 year old dog. After a lot of insisting by me they agreed to micro chip him. He was a little guy named Jack. Hi next visit was on 12/3/2016. My husband brought him in because he had vomited a few times that day. They did labs, x-rays, vet exams as my dog got sicker and sicker. Even though they advertise as a ER vet with overnight and surgical capabilities they sent us to another ER vet on Southside Blvd (and charged us over $1000). After a very long night including more x-rays, labs, surgery for torsion of his gut our poor little Jack crossed the rainbow bridge at about 4:00 am on 12/4. There was of course thousands of dollars spent here as well. I would have spent a lot more to have my little guy in my lap right now. Then on 1/4/2017 i get a charge to my CC from Baymeadows Animal hospital for $174.00. I called to ask them what it was for. I was told I had to pay out the balance of my wellness plan since I had canceled it. So...because my pet was misdiagnosed and not correctly treated by them and subsequently died I have to pay an additional $174? Yep, I sure do. The account manager repeatedly told me I had signed a contract. The fact that my dog died was not relevant. I asked if I could use the remainder on my other pet (a cat) Nope, it's just Jack. Dr. G and his staff went above and beyond to save my fur babies life. They waited for me arrive a little late. Rushed my baby right to the back. Dr. G started a IV with no questions asked. Then came in to get details. He got him stable and sent us home. We returned today for more treatment. He took a lot of time with us and called with every update. His assistant was wonderful and the front desk. My fur baby for the first time all week. Was able to stand and walk around tonight. Dr. G still wants to monitor him tomorrow to make sure he is Ok. The Baymeadows Animal Hospital is the best in Jacksonville! We had to bring in our dog for what we suspected to be a UTI, only to find out it was bladder stones. My sweet cat (Orange Pants) got out of the house a few weeks ago, and finally came back last week (thankfully). It looked like he had gotten into something, as there was a large piece of skin hanging off from the top of his eye. It was swollen, and looked to be very infected. This was a Sunday at 4 PM. I found this vet right down the road from my house, and called to make sure they would take us. Of course they did. They fixed my baby up, and made him feel so much better. Hands down the best vet in Jacksonville! Dr. G and his staff always went above and beyond to make sure my animals were comfortable, happy, and healthy. They greeted and cared for my two dogs like they were their own. We cried together and laughed together over the years. The cashier/person that checked us in was very nice and seemed to care about my 2 dogs. however once we got into the vet office/room and the assistant came in and she logged in on the computer she didnt even know why we were there so i then again had to explain. she quickly looked over my 2 dogs for the issue i came in for tried pushing their health packages on me before diagnosing my dogs and then left for the vet/doctor. once the vet/doctor came in she was in for like 5 minutes briefly looked at my dogs for their health inspection (listened to their heart and looked at their teeth and that was it) said they looked healthy. then looked at the lumps we originally came in for said she believes they are related to allergies and then left. the vet/doctor maybe spent 5 minutes in the room. didn't give me any advice since we (my dogs and I) are new to Florida. i didn't feel like she really spent any time diagnosing my dogs for their lumps just threw out a guess then prescribed me $200 worth the antibiotics. the assistant came back with their 2 shots and pretty much poked my dogs printed a receipt and left. she didn't even give me a chance to calm my dogs down before getting the shot, my puppy even yelped because she was surprised by it. no one ever asked me the whole time i was there if i had any questions. once the cashier brought us into the vets office i felt like it was a rush to get my money and get us out. i miss my old vet in MT. he would take time and make sure my dogs were relaxed before he ever did anything to them especially when giving them a shot! he even took time to give me advice on our area and asked if i had any questions about my dogs, their health, if i had plans on traveling with them in the future ect. this place i felt like they wanted my money and thats it. not sure ill be going back or if i do i will be asking for a different vet and assistant for sure.Read Less

My wife and I love this vet. The Doctors are always so wonderful and caring. We've had to put down animals here and they were wonderful at comforting us and really helping us know that the decision we make is always right without forcing their opinions. We've had multiple times where we called 10 minutes before closing and asked if we could come in and they always kept their doors open a little longer to just to see us, and never charging us some outrageous fee for "after hours". I'd say the only occasional issue are the wait times. That comes with the territory there and it is never an unreasonable amount of time. I have done price searching at other places and the cost here is also reasonable. Never trying to gouge my wallet or coming up with absurd costs. They are upfront with pricing and charges and never go back on their word. I really like this vet, and they have never steered my wife, me or my animals in the wrong direction. I'd say they have even increased the life expectancy of several of my animals by a few years. Read Less

I believe they totally miss diagnosed my Daisy. She was in there on 4/11/16 and they said she was OK. I had to rush her in on 5/14/16 and she could hardly move. She Died 05/15/2016. How can you get Bladder or Kidney stones so fast? I don't think she got the proper treatment???? I will forever miss MY BABY DAISY. SHE was a great friend. Daisy was only 6 years old..I had their wellness plan and still had to pay over $500.00 and MY Daisy still passed away. Very unhappy!!! Read Less

My mother in law passed away a year ago. We have been taking care of her kitty, figueroa, who my son (who has aspergers) is attached too. 3 visits to 3 other vets gave us no answers why she was wasting away and so sick, and euthanasia was recommended with a metabolic disease as the cause. She couldn't control her bodily functions and didn't have much time left physically. So we called baymeadows and made the appointment to have her put down as it was closer than figgys original vet. The dr took one look at her and asked if he could do a t4 test. Turns our she was suffering from hyperthyroidism. A 45.00 test saved her life and a month later she is up .5 lbs to 4.5 and able to be a happy kitty again. The staff is amazingly friendly and sweet and each and every one of them shows amazing love for animals. Dr G is our hero. You saved not only figgy, but the kitty that was entrusted to my son. When we walked in the door with her with the news she was going to make it and get better, he burst into tears and spends all his free time making sure she knows how much he loves her. First visit was free. Exam lasted about 2 minutes. My 12 year old cat Sally diagnosed with oral cancer beyond reasonable/successful treatment. Approximately 4 ml of "convenia" antibiotic was administered at a cost of $54.00 along with approx. ,50 of Depo-Medrol (a steroid) costing $26.13 and a charge of $4.95 for Bio hazardous waste disposal fee for disposing of a syringe and a pair of rubber gloves. Total bill $85.08. Friendly professional atmosphere and my only complaint is the COST of such SMALL AMOUNTS of the injections. It just seems unreasonable that 4 ml of an antibiotic should cost $54.00 and although it is rather insignificant but the $4.95 waste disposable fee seems ridiculous for just a syringe and a thin pair of latex gloves. I also was presented with a estimated cost of $129.00 for having Sally euthanatized which I think is way too high as other Vets charge around $55-75.00 for the service. Overall, if you are not concerned with treatment CHARGES as I am being retired and on SS your pet will probably receive adequate care, Read Less
