This place is great! It is the Memorial Day holiday and they were able to see my dog, a new patient with a bleeding cut on her leg, today. We did not have to wait when we arrived and the vet tech Steven was awesome with our anxious and scared dog. The vet, Dr. Carmichael, was friendly and great with our dog. She put 3 staples put in super fast, no crying or anything from our dog. We were in and out of there in about 30 minutes. Extremely reasonable pricing, too! I spent 45 minutes waiting to be placed in a room beyond my scheduled appointment time. Apparently, one of the dogs boarded there collapsed, so a valid emergency took place. When we got into the room, there were nail clippings and hairballs all over the floor, so clearly it had not been cleaned. Another 30 minutes went by with no sign of us being seen, while other scheduled appointments were in and out. Ultimately, I had to leave due to my physical needs. So why two stars? The staff at the desk were courteous and polite, and the tech was nice enough to sweep half of the exam room at my request, in spite of the fact it was likely not her job. I don't think I'll return, even if the visit was free. I felt my dogs health and my time were not a priority due to the things we experienced. Read Less

Today was my 1st visit to tinseltown in the hospital for when that 1st walked in they were very polite and professional, My tech name was Alana. She was great. Treated Rosco like he was her dog. He didn't look at me saying daddy what are they doing to me .lol . Doctor Carmichael was awesome herself. This office keeps later hours so was where I took my dog when I came home from work and he was clearly in pain. They fit me right in and I had a minimal wait. Dr. Jenkin was extremely thorough and explained everything to me as she went along in the exam. It really put my mind at ease and gave me confidence that Bingley would be diagnosed correctly. She asked me lots of questions to be sure all the bases had been covered and explained what behaviors would be different if he had a different kind of injury so now I'll know how to differentiate them in the future. Both the vet and the tech were so warm and sweet to my nervous little guy!!! I was worried the cost might be high given the later appointment time and not being a regular patient but I found the prices to be completely reasonable and will absolutely keep the number saved in my phone for the next time! I love coming to Tinseltown animal hospital with my Great Dane. Dr. Linda knows all about my breed (I’ve gone to others that thought my harlequin Dane was a Dalmatian). Am giving 4 stars because the wait was too long, however me and my wife were happy with the doctor and our tech. But the fact that our tech steven tried and make us less upset by playing youtube videos really helped and consistently saying sorry and keeping us aware of what is going on. Dr. Carmichael is so patient, kind and considerate. She goes out of her way to make me feel comfortable and explain to me all of my pets' health needs and conditions. She offers both comprehensive and/or non-intrusive alternatives so that I feel I have options to match my philosophies and comfort level. She treats my pets kindly and always seems to put their needs first no matter how busy her day is, or how late my appointment is(at the end of a long busy day I'm sure). After a bad experience at my last animal vet/hospital (unaffiliated with this one), it is such a relief to have a place I can come to answer my many, many questions as a new and anxious pet parent. I can honestly say that Dr. Carmichael is extraordinary in her efforts to go above and beyond. Additionally, greatly appreciate the support staff and assistants that are so helpful and nice. I am sure they are the reason the office runs so smoothly and that they do a lot behind the scenes to let the Vets shine! Read Less

Dr. Carmichael is a wonderful veterinarian. My Coco loves her and she is so good with him. I am extremely picky about who I let work on Coco and Dr. Carmichael is at the top of the list. She is incredibly professional yet accessible and she ALWAYS returns my calls. She takes her time and answers any question that I might have - no matter what it is. She can always calm me and COCO (my miniature chocolate poodle) down!!! Forever Vets - Tinseltown has a wonderful front staff, team, nurses, and technicians that truly care about my fur baby. Extremely disappointed. Have worked with their exotic vet Dr. Linda and had nothing but problems. When I asked to speak with her about charges, she was extremely rude and would not let me speak. She then was overhead saying "if she could fire customers, she would". Needless to say, she won't be firing me because I won't be back. She was extremely disrespectful and turned nasty very fast when I inquired about charges (that were not explained in full at the time of service). I recently had to change vets, which was a very stressful ordeal since my pup had been with the same vet for over 5 years, but the doctors and staff at Tinseltown Animal Hospital have welcomed us into their family and have gone above and beyond to make sure that Sammie is healthy and happy. My service dog loves it here! She's always very happy and excited to see everyone. Staff is super nice. They make sure your pet has a positive experience with them and I haven't seen any dog whimper or whine from being scared. She's still a puppy in training, and their puppy plan has saved us lots of money with her vaccinations and soon-to-be spay. I also appreciate that I can call them any time for medical advice before we come in, because this is my first service pup. That itself saves money because I usually overthink and overreact to things and would rush to bring her in for the littlest things. Read Less

Not really sure how good anything is. I was on hold for a good amount of time then I finally just came in, still on the phone on hold (no music or anything, just had to keep looking at my phone to see if they had hung up or something) and walk in to hardly anyone in the lobby. I asked if another vet sent in records during the week so I could pick up medicine close to home. They said "oh they didn't send in all of the records or something cuz I just see shots, no heartworm test". Well if you knew that was what I was coming in for, why wouldn't they have asked? GREEDY and DISHONEST. I have had my black lab for 9 years and have had him on Trifexis ever since he was a puppy. I understand that it is required to test for heartworms before the dog starts on the medication or if there is any lapse in administering the medication, and it is recommended that they are tested every 12 months as a precaution (because they say that no medicine is 100% effective, 100% of the time). However, as a former employee of an animal hospital in St. Petersburg, I know that the 12 month test is optional, and they will prescribe Trifexis as long as the dog has been consistently taking the medication. No veterinarian has ever required the test annually. However, today I took my dog in for his annual vaccinations, a checkup, and grooming, and Dr. Carmichael refused to prescribe the Trifexis unless I paid $50 for a heartworm test! Interestingly enough, my parents and I have been taking our dogs here for several years now, and they have never required an annual test before. I do occasionally have my dog tested as a precaution, but I see no need to shell out $50 a year for an optional test just to line the pockets of the vet when my dog has been on the medication for 9 years and it has worked just fine. So just to be sure, I called my old vets office and asked if this was some new regulation, and they informed me that it is optional, and that any vet who insists on a 12 month test before prescribing it is doing so because they make more money on the test than they do on the prescription. It is disgusting, because they put their wallets ahead of the health and safety of our beloved pets. Needless to say, my parents and I will be taking all of our dogs elsewhere from now on, and I will be recommending that my friends do the same (several of who we referred to Tinseltown). I recommend going somewhere else where they don't try to squeeze you for every penny in your pocket.Read Less

We've been bringing our rescue pup, Bingo, here since we got him 3 years ago and have had nothing but great experiences. This location has caring and skilled vets and techs that clearly love what they do, a great variety of services, and both late and weekend hours. They also have wonderful wellness plan we take part in that allows you to make a consistent monthly payment and gives you all the basic care you need for the year (dental cleaning, vaccinations, check ups, blood work, and emergency exams) all included without an extra charge. Six months ago I brought my dog to Tinseltown animal hospital and she tested positive for heartworm. I was told by the veterinary that she would need injections, X-rays and would have to stay overnight all which it would cost over $2,000. I felt really bad because I did not have that kind of money to help save my dog. I asked if there was another way to fight this disease as I had heard about penicillin being used. I was told that they knew nothing about any other treatment. I also was not given any other options or suggestions or referrals for low-cost clinics. All I got was a lot of guilt as they continually told me if I didn't do the treatment my dog would die. Here I am six months later and I brought my dog to a different vet. A low cost veterinary on Herschel Street. My dog was due for all of her shots and Bordetella and heartworm test and worm testing. She tested positive again for heartworm, as I had only been giving her heartworm treatment for new possible infections. At this animal hospital I was told there is an option called slow kill treatment which has worked with a many animals. It is much cheaper only about $200 in 6 months. I was also given the address and phone number for a low cost no-kill Clinic that offers people that can't afford injections, low-cost injections for their heartworm positive dogs or cats. The same treatment I would have gotten at Tinseltown animal hospital for $2,000, I am getting for $250 at this Clinic. I am so upset that Tinseltown never told me any of this. They would rather my dog died then refer me somewhere else. They should be ashamed of their selves. I only hope that my dog does not have heart damage and Will Survive the injections for 250.00 because of the time that has passed. I would never recommend Tinseltown Animal Hospital to anyone. I am writing this to let people know there are alternatives that are less expensive for treating your positive heartworm animal.Read Less

My dog woke up sick on a Saturday morning. I called them at 9:35 and they said they could get me right on. They took my dog right back to make sure it was not life threatening. They brought her back wrapped in a blanket and we saw a doctor within 20 min. They said they needed to run tests and went over cost of items prior to testing. I had to leave her there for 2 hours but was able to pick her up feeling much better by 12:45pm. The doctors and staff were awesome and so friendly and compassionate. They called to check in on her on Monday. I would take my dogs here again if I had an emergency! Read Less

My senior golden girl is a new patient here. I had to find a new local vet that I trust. Well, look no further. This team is remarkable! I can feel a genuine concern for my fur baby! Today she had to have a minor surgery. They actually just met my need today rather than scheduling for later. (Today was originally just an assessment). They took such care and concern and went over everything. Dr. G is so nice and caring and his assistant Mackenzie is the nicest!! I'm glad I found such a great place and team to help us through these geriatric years. Ask them about their wellness plan. It saved me over 300 today. Also, if all that wasn't enough, they have great hours. I recommend this to you without any reservations. Normally I take my pet to the Humane Center for treatment. I found myself in a bind last week with a sick fur baby and was not able to get in to see my regular vet. I called Tinseltown in hopes they could see my baby. They gave me an immediate appointment and ended up doing surgery on my baby. The staff was awsome and I feel like they did a thorough job. The price of the surgery was not to astronomical, however I was a little disappointed in the charge for a bandage change during a follow up visit. It was a bit over the top. Overall I would recommend this vet office, but the "little" things do add up. Read Less

We we in Jacksonville for a week because I had appointments at the Mayo Clinic. It was definitely a rough week. I have been wanting a dog for a while now and he kept saying no. Well Wednesday I had a really rough day at the clinic. So when we left we went to get lunch. I seen a sign that said puppies, so I said let's go look at the puppies that it would be good for me. Well by Friday I was just besides myself so I asked my boyfriend if we could go by the puppy store one more time because I wanted to say goodbye to the dog that I fell in love with. Well, we ended up getting the dog and included in the package was his first vet visit. What a friendly staff. They were amazing. The place was so clean the vet was very through with the physical. I recently adopted a 3mo kitten & I really needed vet exam & pet groomer same day service on a Saturday. As a new pet owner I soon discovered this was going to be a task to find. I discovered Tinseltown Animal Hospital, they definitely put an end to my worries. A vet & grooming services all in one is perfect. Everyone made the experience super easy & they very flexible. They definitely were very informative & patient & kind. Did I forget to mention service was faster than expected & they have drop service. My kitten got examined within minutes got groomed right after & wallah! I still had my Saturday to enjoy. Prices were definitely affordable better than I've seen before. This Vet office is all about making money. They don't understand the words I DON'T HV ENOUGH MONEY FOR THAT.. I had been bringing my dogs there for routine shots and checkups, they always try to sell me something my dog doesn't need. You go in thinking it will b about 84.00 and come our with insurance and a bill. My sweet dog tested positive for heartworm. The vet said I needed to keep her there overnight and she would have to get other procedures costing thousands of dollars. I told her I did not hv the money. She preceded telling me my dog would die and made me feel horrible. I was able to get heart guard from pet rx for one year for 55.00. Pet rx called the vet who refused to sign the prescription. Pet rx only does 6 months to a year not 3 months. I called the vet and pleaded with her to write the script. She said that was all she was willing to do aND once again proceeded to shame, for not having the money . Now I can't afford the monthly bill for heart guard from the vet which is ridiculously over priced, I hv no scrip for Pet rx and my dog has heartworm. I don't get it. Read Less

I brought my Sweet little 15 yr old girl to Tinseltown Animal Hospital. She was not doing to good. Dr Baker and Darlene, the vet tech.. Were Awesome. they did the best they could to make her comfortable. Unfortunately she was very ill. They didn't let her suffer. Their kindness and caring disposition towards my little Roxy was perfect. Darlene has been Roxy's friend for 14 yrs. She was instrumental in my friendship with Darlene today. I am now bringing my 4 dogs to Tinseltown Animal Hospital. The staff and doctor are so nice and compassionate. And I love their hours of operation as my work hours tend to be all over the place at times. Their Wellness Plans are also very beneficial in keeping the cost in line. After calling my friend Darlene, she advised me that she had a new job and was working for better people. they took in my puppy and they were absolutely fantastic.
