Gateway Animal Hospital

Jacksonville, Florida
General Info
Gateway Animal Hospital delivers veterinary services alongside practical household guidance to Jacksonville and Florida families managing various pet ages breeds and conditions together. During the initial visit pet owners and veterinarians discuss an overview of each pet's background alongside behavior patterns while noting recent alterations and defining their household role. Examinations become unique experiences where individual assessments focus on posture evaluation combined with ear and eye clarity checks alongside skin health inspection and hydration levels while observing gait patterns and animal temperament in human and animal interactions. Shared symptoms such as mild coughing or reduced appetite are analyzed within their specific contexts because multi-pet environments can either obscure or amplify health indicators. Gateway Animal Hospital offers personalized wellness planning alongside diagnostic services and surgical consultations while managing weight tracking dental checks and preventive scheduling. Care plans are structured to accommodate both owner schedules and pet behaviors by adjusting visit frequency or combining procedures to enhance time management and energy distribution. This establishes sustainable routines for households managing new adoptions age-related slowdowns and travel schedules. Clinic staff members present family options in a detailed yet accessible manner to ensure decision-making remains straightforward and stress-free. At every phase owners have the opportunity to pose inquiries because each appointment and follow-up includes built-in communication. Gateway Animal Hospital assists families throughout Jacksonville and nearby Florida communities to establish veterinary routines that synchronize with their household dynamics—ensuring every pet communicates its needs and each visit serves a distinct purpose.

The receptionist was insensitive and very ignorant when I called this clinic and requested how much to euthanize a pet rat and have her cremated and her remains returned to me. She said to call an exterminator. Any veterinarian clinic with uneducated staff like that, I’d steer clear. I would not bring my dog or any other beloved pet to them!!!! We have used Dr. Roy for many years. So if you want to read a true review about this brilliant man, proceed. We used to go to Herschel, but the lines were long and they rushed and the prices went up. We cared for a lot of animals. We brought a stray animal to "No More Homeless Pets". They are across the street from Dr. Roy. NMHP does a great job for the community by neutering thousands of animals. But to use NMHP as a regular vet was the worst experience I ever had. I thought there has to be a lower priced alternative for the many animals we deal with. We thought we will just try Dr. Roy for one visit. Frankly we absolutely think this guy is great! I would never go to another vet. Yes we have been to a number of EXPENSIVE vets in Jacksonville and they are sugar sweet and you pay for it. I think Dr. Roy is VERY smart, based on wrong diagnosis we got over time at other vets. He seems to always get it right. He is a good man and his staff always tries to help. Let's talk about his accent. I understand him and my wife picks up half, but his staff is always there and by nature they are willing to repeat. Go to him for his brilliance and PRICE. When we got to love this "country doctor" vet, we like many of his many, many clients would not go anywhere else. We drive 20 miles to get to him. He is one of only two doctors we use like him. Extremely experienced, brilliant, a little hard to understand, in an old building with low overhead, and low prices. To the reviewer that said his animal died. We once took a cat to an expensive doctor. The cat was not feeling well. This expensive vet did tests and proclaimed that the cat would live a long time. We brought the cat home and she died that afternoon. This was not Dr. Roy but a different expensive vet we formally used. WE LOVE OUR PETS! Read Less

The veterinarian was rude and unprofessional. I had trouble understanding what he was saying through his heavy accent (I understand this isn't his fault, but it did make things more difficult), and he continually interrupted me. I wanted to put my dogs on Trifexis, but he didn't want to do a heartworm test on them because it would "cost extra", even though I told him several times that I was willing to pay the extra price. When I asked why he wouldn't do it, he just kept saying that it costs extra. I fully understand how heartworms are prevalent here, as I've seen our dogs die from it as a kid. I was also a vet tech, and had seen what heartworms can do. Most vets do their best to shove Trifexis down peoples' throats due to the heartworm infestation, but when I straight up asked for it, he refused. And as I tried to voice concerns, he would interrupt me to talk about things completely different from what I was trying to voice. The vet tech there was very friendly, and seemed a little uncomfortable as well as the vet continued to interrupt me. She was awesome, though. The vet was not so much.Read Less
