Wonderful, awesome, perfect! Very relaxed atmosphere and everything is upfront and most procedures done with you in the exam room. Staff and doctor are VERY, VERY friendly and professional. They even have subtle country music in the background, which is actually quite nice (even though we don't listen to country music).
They tend to do what is necessary and we've found (so far) that they don't try and sell you things or procedures that aren't needed (which is a typical fear a lot of us have).
We've been going to a different vet 10 miles further but will most likely start going to Pottsburg Animal Clinic.

I have been bringing my Chihuahua here since she was a puppy (almost 12 years). I asked the breeder where she took her dogs and this is the place she named. I now have two Chihuahuas that come here and I don't plan on making g a change. The location is no longer near where I live, but I'll make the drive because it's worth it. I absolutely adore Dr. Gowen and his staff. Brenda and Dianna are wonderful! We feel like family when we come and I don't have a negative thing I could ever say about the Gowen Animal Clinic.

As a newbie cat owner, I asked my bestie where she took her cats and Dr. Gowen was the immediate and enthusiastic answer. Located near the corner of Hogan and Parental Home Road, the clinic is a small unassuming building.Inside you'll find a staff who are friendly, efficient, and courteous. Both of my cats are strays that have become my pets. The older one was taken for a checkup, vaccines, and flea meds. Older is very skittish around people and still has her claws. The vet assistant had long gloves to hold her during the exam. The cat was scared but handled very gently and lovingly. Then kitten joined my life a few weeks ago. She seemed good until some bathroom accidents started happening and I noticed she had diarrhea. I called Dr. Gowen's office and learned he wasn't available due to a family emergency. The assistant gave me a tip on helping kitten overcome her tummy issues. By the time kitten had an appointment at the end of the week, the diarrhea was gone. We de-wormed her again just in case and kitten was sent home with a clean bill of health. Prices are reasonable - six months of flea meds cost more than the office visit. No high pressure sales, no trying to guilt you into unneeded tests. I would recommend Dr. Gowen's clinic to anyone!

Dr. Gowen was the first veterinarian my wife used when she moved to Jacksonville before we met. He always took excellent care of her pet. After marriage we moved to a different part of town and tried other vet offices. They always wanted to try unnecessary procedures that would just confirm things Dr. Gowen already informed us about our cat. No other veterinarian ever excelled to the level of Dr. Gowan. His compassion and care is bar-none the best. In hard times, you can tell he has a desire to be there for the pet. His entire office is welcoming, and they are all great. We now go no where else, even though we live far away.
