We first came to this office last Saturday. My boy injured his back. They clearly explained all the options to my husband. We tried medication they recommended. Unfortunately, it was not helping and we couldn’t let him suffer anymore. They helped him transition gracefully and peacefully. The staff was so nice, kind, and patient with my grieving. I will be forever grateful that they helped my baby not suffer anymore. I have never had to do anything like that before but they talked me through it and helped my boy. Thank you for everything! Worst experience ever, not only was the staff rude but they also quoted me 200$ less than what i ended up paying. They gave my dog staples in his leg and a random one on his face(unnecessary). Once examining the staples when we returned home i noticed they weren't even holding the skin together and it was not cleaned around it. Very bad experience going here. My girl Chewie had been bitten by another dog and needed stitches badly. I called and explained to the woman who answered that I would not be able to make payment until the next day. If they could hold her overnight I could be back in the morning to pay. She then informed me if I cannot pay then there is nothing they can do. This was somewhat understandable, but considering that their sole purpose is to care for pets in day to day and emergency situations I had a bad taste in my mouth. I ended up coming up with the money from a family member and made my way over. When I showed up and told the woman, who's names I cannot remember (probably because she never introduced herself) that I was the gentleman who had called about my dog. She asked "well do you have money?". I further explained that yes I have money now and she liked the sound of that. Got me my paperwork and her entire mood changed. For a short time that is. As I'm filling out paperwork in the office I see a sign posted "Any transactions over the price of $200 are applicable to payment option" which she had failed to mention as an option over the phone, knowing I was in a tight spot. Finally they give me a quote of $645-$699, for anesthesia, cleanup, emergency fee, etc. etc. etc... I was able to slightly negotiate, I decided on waiting until the very next morning to go to my regular vet to get antibiotics & pain medication instead. (which were at a fraction of the cost of this clinic.) this brought the price down to $473. Keep in mind this was a total of 45 minutes and 9 stitches... Long story short this is a very greedy and money hungry small business owner. Who clearly has one thing in mind and it's not your baby.. Not to mention the doctor/owner was who took care of my girl, most unprofessional ,unpardonable, not to mention expensive experience I've ever had. I would never choose a place like this if I wasn't in the predicament I was in last night. I would rate 0 stars if it was possible. Wow! What an incredible vets office! On Christmas morning around 4am we woke up to our puppy very sick. We were out of town visiting my in laws and she got into some food she shouldn't have while we were out.  Being the nervous pet parents we are we rushed to find a vets office close by that was open. I called Vet 1 care and Iris answered. She was very calming while also providing just the right amount of concern. We took Bella in and were immediately taken back into a room. Iris and the vet on call were both very sweet to Bella even though they were both very tired from working all night (on Christmas!) and very patient with all of our questions. They walked us thru every single step and made sure we understood every charge before they did anything to her. They made recommendations based off of what was truly needed and what was nice to have. It was refreshing to have someone be so honest and open instead of just looking to make a quick buck. In the end Bella got some medicine and we were done in about an hour. The next day Iris called me just to check in and make sure Bella felt better. She also remembered we were from TN and asked how our drive back was and how our Christmas was. Great customer service! These guys are the bomb. I always get a friendly greeting and good service. Dr Greshake helped me thru a very difficult time with my little Annie who was misdiagnosed several times. With his help, her life and comfort were extended way beyond expectations. A few years have passed since my last review and I just wanted to post an addition. I wanted to publicly thank Dr. Greshake again for his help last week with my old soul, Cindy Lou. She was a senior when I got her already and after giving her a few good years of comfort and love, it was time to consider the hard decision. Dr. Greshake was kind and compassionate in helping me do the right think for her. Honoring them enough to let them go is the hardest decision a pet owner has to make. I cannot give enough praise to Vet-I-Care! Over the weekend that hurricane Irma hit they were the only vet's office that stayed open in Jacksonville and several surrounding areas. Had they not weathered the storm my kitten and I am sure some other pets would not be here today! I brought my kitten in 3 times over the course of the storm and ended up needing to hospitalize him. By the 3rd time I came in both doctors had been there without going home for almost 72 hours. The dedication and care for each person and their pet that I encountered in that office every time I went was unlike any other. Vet-I-Care is truly there to make a difference. Thank you SO MUCH! My 4lb Boston got attacked by a 60lb pit. Before this dr, I took her to another emergency clinic that gave me a bill for her to stay over night and get an X-ray of an area that wasn't even bothering her, before even examining her. When I refused the techs face instantly changed and they became much less concerned. Even talking me out of the X-ray as well. I kept asking about her jaw and neck and the dr kept brushing me off. Saying he's not concerned with it. The vet kept her in the back the whole time, so I didn't get to see him examine her or anything. They gave her a pain shot and sent her home.8hrs later I take her to Vet-i-Care, after calling for simple advice, and Kelly the tech being so sweet and concerned, and talking me thru possibilities and solutions. (They've never even met my puppy before and they tried to help!) I felt I better take her in for a re exam after talking to Kelly, and I took her in immediately. Right away they could tell her jaw was broken without even touching her. Once they looked in her mouth they saw her jaw was detached, and took jaw and head X-rays.Plus the price of this whole visit COMBINED with my other vet er price, was still cheaper than what the other vet quoted me for their bogus exam and sleep over.Vet-i-care did everything they could to help, and the Dr was so kind and compassionate. On July 4, 2016, I had to rush Sting to Vet-I-Care when my beloved cat, Sting, became extremely ill really, really fast. Although I lost him that. Night, I couldn't have made it through the trauma with the vet and staff at this wonderful clinic. From the time I stepped foot in the door, until the time I left, they were so kind and caring. Kelly is is the most compassionate tech I have ever encountered and she treats all her patients and their owners like family and will sit with you for as long as you need and cry with you; I know because there wasn't a dry eye in the house that night. The vet treated Sting with kid gloves and as if he was his own pet and he knew that Sting was suffering and it was time for him to go over the Rainbow Bridge. It was the most humane thing even though it was the most painful thing for me as his mama. Kelly stayed with me and with him so he wouldn't be alone. This clinic will always hold a special place in ,y heart because they are so caring, nurturing to the people and the the four legged children. If that's not the mark of a great clinic, emergency or not, I don't know what is. Definitely take your pets there if you want the best care for you and for them. Read Less

I had noticed one of my cats squatting but not going to the bathroom.  I called Vet-I-Care and they told me that there was no wait and to bring him.  I got there and they let me in quickly after I  rang the buzzer (it was midnight), and the tech took me into an exam room.  After taking a brief history, she went to get the on call vet, Dr. Paschall.  She was VERY knowledgeable and gave me a few options.  I was also given a breakdown of prices prior to any treatment was rendered.  At no time did I feel like they were trying to gauge me (but I also knew my animal was being treated on an emergency basis so the prices are going to be higher). I decided to leave my cat with them for treatment and I received regular updates from THE VET throughout the weekend.  I was very pleased with the care my cat and I received.  And my kitty is doing so much better!  I highly recommend Dr. Paschall. Dr. Hicks was on staff when I came in with my dog. He made us feel at ease from the moment we arrived. The staff truly has a passion for animals! We brought our dog in because he had a spleenectomy at another Vet earlier in the day, He wasn't looking well and he had bleeding from the incision site. Dr. Hicks drew blood and checked him out for us. He was amazing! Our dog turned out to be fine. We were given the Post OP advice that we hadn't received earlier in the day. I had three dogs that were bitten by snakes. The ER vet on site didn't know much about snake bites at all. There was no sense of urgency from them. We were left alone just waiting the majority of the time we were there. Since I was there, I have learned from other vets what should have been done. I'm sorry I ever went here and because I did, my dog is no longer with us. I hope they learn from my experience so no other family goes through what we went through. I have left other reviews on sites and the she has responded with lies. Just please, beware of using them. There was no compassion. Read Less

Two of my dogs got into a fight Called in asking for advice, if I should take the dog up there, I told her I had wrapped a bandage around my dogs wound & woman on the phone REALLY Laughed at me and said "you did what? You're a joke, get off my phone and stop wasting my time" I told her I wasnt joking and asking again if I should bring my dog in. She said "yeah okay do whatever you want" I asked her why she was being rude, she told me I was prank calling her and she would call the police if I continued. Now I have a poor bleeding puppy and no where to take her! I am very upset with this place, I was NOT prank calling.. I don't know why she was so mean to me. Sucks I couldn't get help. Honestly if this is how they treat their customers I'm thankful I didnt take my dog up there and I'm sure another place in Jacksonville will be more than willing to do the job of a vet clinic, which is help pets. Judging by all these bad reviews, it's you're rude staff that's making you lose business. I was so surprised to see some of the reviews. If I could give more then a 5, I would. I have been to see these people on several occasions and I have found then to be extremely compassionate, knowledgeable and caring. I understand they charge a fee for the services which seems to be the main problem with most of the negative posts I also understand that I may have to wait when I go there depending on who is ahead of me. I've waited a few days to post this to see if my feelings would ease up some and they haven't. I had 3 dogs that were bit by a snake which caused me to bring them in as an emergency visit. It was decided that we couldn't come up with the $2000 per night, per dog to try the antivenom route. This facility doesn't work out payment arrangements so unfortunately, I couldn't do the $1100 per night, per dog no antivenom stay either. What they could do for us, was charge us 3 emergency visits for each dog and write some prescriptions that may or may not have helped. (There was a lot of unknowns when it came to snake bites it seemed) The 3 emergency visits included taking their temp, listening to their heart, and feeling for their bites. That's it.. That's all they did for my dogs. $255 dollars. $255 dollars for one of my dogs to go home and internally bleed to death with me not knowing thats why my poor pup wouldn't lay down that night. What I found out later was that a simple blood test could be taken to at least see if the dogs blood was clotting.. That was not an option given to us that night. I didn't know to ask for it. I had no idea that would happen to my 5.8 pound baby. I sat up, all night with my dog thinking she was probably just hurting from the bite, not knowing her little body was filling up with blood. How painful must that have been for her? The next morning we rushed her to another vet who was at least able to help her with the pain she was in. It was too late to save her but at least they tried. The other vet did blood work on my other two to ensure their blood was clotting so they wouldn't have to go through this. They never made the visit solely based around money. Her life mattered to them and it was known. There was never a sense of urgency with Vet I Care, we were left outside waiting for them to open the door for quite some time (yeah, we called first, they knew we were coming). Then they buzzed us in and we were just there in the lobby for quite some time, frantic, might I add. Then in a room for maybe 20 more minutes before we got to see the actual vet. When I went to a different vet the next day, they grabbed my baby and rushed her to the back to try and save her life. There were multiple employees that came out to ask about her, and try to help us. I really believe that my dog would have passed away even if I could have tried the antivenom, but she didn't have to go home and suffer like that either. If a blood test would have been done that told me one of my dogs blood wasn't clotting, we could have known that Truffles needed to stay overnight but the other two did not. She didn't have to die in pain like that. :( Edit... I just read the other review from someone else that night. Please don't blame my dogs visit for the lack of care given to another pet. The amount of time that we spent alone in a room was unacceptable. 3 temps, three heart rate checks, 3 weight checks and felt for 3 bite marks. That's the only things done to my dogs! Read Less

Horrible, Horrible Service. Trust the other bad reviews that are listed here because they're correct. The staff was incredibly rude and inconsiderate. We were treated as if our being there was an extreme inconvenience to them. The staff waited to inform us of the hour wait until after we were in the exam room and had filled out the paperwork instead of letting us know when we arrived. The facility was dirty. We found multiple fleas on ourselves and our dog while waiting. We know that the fleas did not originate from our dog. Both of our dogs are treated with a monthly preventative and haven't had any fleas at all. We waited 45 minutes before anyone even came in to talk to us and all the tech did was take our dogs weight and temperature. We waited another 45 minutes and decided to leave and instead of being apologetic for our wait and poor experience, the staff members were rude and treated us as if we had done something wrong. I'm sure that the owner's response will be that there were 3 dogs with snake bites ahead of us which was the cause of the wait (see the comment above) and we were informed of this but what consumers need to know is that the we waited for almost an hour and a half before deciding to leave. The staff was rude not only us but also to callers during our visit and the place was dirty. Do not take your pet(s) here, especially if there is an emergency. Avoid at all costs and do yourself a favor by driving just a little bit farther to a vet clinic that will care for your pet and provide you good service. Read Less

This is the worst customer service I've experienced in my life. It was so bad I'm taking the time to write this post at 1 am after returning home from a different emergency clinic. I hope this review will save someone else the frustration that comes from working with a nasty office in an emergency situation. If you want an example of how this place seems to treat customers just look at the way they've responsed to other negative comments here. As for my experience, the lady answering phones tonight was curt and nasty. As I tried to explain what was happening with my dog she continued to interrupted me to rattle off prices. The tone conveyed a "once they hear the price maybe she will leave me alone" attitude. Our dog is a true heinz 57 mutt from a shelter. So when she asked me what breed I tried to describe him as best possible. Only to be interrupted again by her raised and condescending voice. "Well is it a lab mix, chihuahua mix, how can you not know?" She also seemed outraged that I would ask questions about the symptoms my dog was facing. Again raising her voice to tell me that a diagnosis cannot be given over the phone. However, I was not looking for a diagnosis just information and the next clinic we called was able to answer my questions and even asked a few of their own to try and weigh the seriousness of the situation. I will never contact this office again even though it's closer than others. These are just the most striking points from our interaction to highlight how severly unprofessional I found this office. No person deserves to be disparaged in this manner, but especially not someone seeking emergency care in the middle of the night. ***Avoid at all costs*** Read Less

After going for a walk, one of our mini dachshunds somehow lost a nail and began bleeding. After trying all the tricks, he continued to bleed, so I called the clinic. The tech who answered tried to give me some tips over the phone to help stop the bleeding, and possibly keeping me from coming in. I definitely appreciated that. Unfortunately, nothing work so we headed to the clinic. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I was given a quote for charges and when all was said and done, it ended up being cheaper. They are incredible and we are truly so grateful for the love and care they gave our little girl last night! Not only are they amazing ! They are sooo reasonable in price and they respect what's important in an emergency , and that's not money !!!! True compassion, love and kindness is what this place is all about ! Disclaimer: I am not on here trying to give reviews but want to warn people about what this place is doing so you don't get ripped off too. Called and asked for a routine vaccination for 2 dogs. She took their info and I asked how much would it be. She said $180 and I said for both and she said yes. I thought ok cool, good price and convenient location. Search over right? Wrong. I get there and they take the 2 dogs in and give them their shots. They then asked if I wanted to do blood work on them. I asked how much that would be. She said it would be $270. Ok wanted to make sure my dogs were good. She then came back in and said she made a mistake and it would be $168 per dog. Imagine my surprise. That's when I brought up that I was told it was $180 for both. She said no and asked who I talked too and walked out. So, now I am sitting there thinking it's going to cost about $340 for both. The rest of the exam went well. I am not knocking the Dr. or the assistant. They treated my dogs well. Then on to check out time... I asked to see a breakdown of my bill before I paid and now it says $360. So I told her that the other lady told me $168 per dog now it's back up to $180. I asked her if she could honor what she told me and she no there was nothing she could do b/c she forgot to add something in. The lesson I learned from this place is: 1. THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR WORD. 2. IF AND ONLY IF YOU GO TRIPLE CHECK ON HOW MUCH IT WILL BE OR IF YOU DON'T YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF AND GO ON GOOGLE AND WRITE A REVIEW ON THIS PLACE. 3. Amazing vet, Dr. Greshake is patient and explains clearly everything having to do with your pets situation, and unfortunately my beloved beagle had to be put down and Dr. Krause was wonderful and made a hard and difficult situation as pleasant as it could possibly be and was extremely empathetic. I brought my 12yr old Weimaraner Shadow in for lameness and was able to follow up with acupuncture with my own vet this week. the staff is caring and informative ( I am sorry I cannot remember vet techs name). Highly recommend Vet-I-Care! We took our cat in late last night on an emergency basis to have her put down and were well taken care of. We spent all day with our cat trying to make the decision of waiting for her to pass naturally or taking her to be put down. After she had another convulsion late at night we decided we didn't want to wait until the morning and have her in pain all night. We are so thankful to find a clinic that was open. We walked in and they immediately took us to a room and took great care with our cat. She was peacefully put to sleep thanks to the kind Vet. As it was our first time putting a pet down, he took the time to tell us what to expect. The assistant was great was as well, she didn't rush us even though it was late. I couldn't be happier with the phenomenal customer service and care that this place provided to my furry family. They legitimately care about animals and providing the best possible treatment plan in order to return them to health. They had my little guy since Saturday and provided me with updates as they could and were always available whenever I called, albeit an emergency facility, they always treated me as a priority and were polite. Our little yorkie was seriously injured by a big dog. Dr Epp was wonderful, calming, and very tender with our little Juliet. We got an update during the surgery and aftercare was top notch. Words can't express how grateful I am for this top-notch clinic. They saved our newly purchased pup's life after having received less than adequate services from another facility. During four consecutive days of clinic visits while our baby was hospitalized there and multiple contacts by telephone, we found the entire staff of approximately 15 to be consummate professionals, very nurturing and friendly towards our little one and nursed her to optimal health. Possibly the best experience I have ever had in any service industry! My wife and I brought in our 8 month old cat with the concern of a possible UTI just after 10pm on a weekday. The tech that received us was very pleasant, gentle with him, and showed a concern for us and him. Exact same treatment from the vet. He took his time telling us what was going on inside of him and gave us detailed instructions on how to take care of him and what to expect. In the end he did not have a UTI, we were there for maybe 20min and our bill was $155, which I thought was extremely fair for the visit, two shots, two bottles of medication, and almost 2 weeks worth of FREE food for his new diet. We will be returning to Vet-I-Care for future needs and are already recommending them to others. Read Less

Found a squirrel by the road that was crying and dragging it's bottom half. Wasn't sure what to do so I contacted Vet I care to ask if I could bring it in so they could humanely euthanize it and put the poor thing out of it's misery (because I couldn't just leave it there to suffer and get attacked by cats, etc). However, surprisingly, they wouldn't do it :( The receptionist hung up on me when I told her how much it surprised me that they wouldn't take it in. it tells me a lot about this vet that they could care less about a suffering animal. Putting it out of it's misery would have just taken a second. ***This is added after reading the vet's reply. Wow, what a lie! It doesn't even make sense actually, because I just wanted to drop the poor thing off so how was I demanding any immediate attention? And your staff never offered any info on where to take it. She said that nobody could help the squirrel bc the vet had surgery, I responded "okay, well they obviously won't be in surgery all night", and I also mentioned that I was surprised that they wouldn't help it- and she then hung up on me! It is not my style to hang up on people, as I find it very rude, so it's irritating that I was accused of this just because I voiced my opinion in a review that the vet didn't like. I never asked anyone to drop what they were doing and do anything- I only asked if I could drop off an injured and crying squirrel so that it wouldn't have to suffer (and sadly, we were so close to you! And it was evening time and no one else around was open). I was obviously denied because there was no profit to be made on helping an injured wildlife. Obviously, you know that you're in the wrong because you are now even saying that you euthanize injured wildlife as a service, but completely refused me bringing it in last night. Thank God, I was able to find another vet (farther away & with some searching) with a heart that allowed me to bring it in. But this entire thing says a lot about your true motives, and your deceitful reply makes it even worse. Read Less

Very compassionate and knowledgeable staff! And I have never gotten the impression that they are "money hungry" as a couple other reviewers have stated. The owner may come off a bit snarky sometimes, but I've noticed that it is only when he feels that you're considering making a decision that is not in the best interest of your pet. I think it's a case of the owner and staff actually caring about your pet, not a greedy attempt to get you to authorize unnecessary procedures. To solidify my point: On my last visit I was overcharged for a service, but I hadn't noticed. The next day a staff member called and told me she noticed it when looking over my file, and that she was refunding it immediately. I had never even noticed; they were the ones to realize it and make a point of correcting it. That doesn't sound money hungry to me... And yes, the prices are high, but this is an emergency clinic. Furthermore (and this is a BIG deal), it is one of only two animal hospitals in Jacksonville that actually have a veterinarian on duty 24 hours a day. The other animal hospitals say 24 hours, but what is actually happening is that they all go home at night (usually from 8pm to 6am, 10 hours) and have a veterinarian on call to come in if someone calls with an emergency. At Vet-I-Care, there is ALWAYS a veterinarian on premises checking on your pet frequently 24 hours a day. That's where the extra money is going from the "high" prices, which to me makes perfect sense. You're paying for the highest quality of care in Jacksonville!... The staff is amazing, and you are welcome to visit your pet in the hospital any time day or night. The facility is clean, and they clearly have nothing to hide as at night you are actually permitted into the back to visit your pet. During the day they will typically put you in a room for visiting. The veterinarian on duty updates you every time you go in to visit. Great communication, and so compassionate... I will continue to turn to Vet-I-Care when one of my four cats have an emergency issue! Not a second thought. Vet-I-Care is your best bet for your pet! Read Less

Very knowledgeable and caring Doctors and staff.  We have had several pets under the care of Veticare going back over 8years.  Dr. G and staff have been great with the routine care of our pets as well as through some very difficult emergencies.  They are an emergency vet as well as regular vet care so sometimes the emergencies take precedent for obvious reasons.   I cannot say enough good things about the treatment and care we have received over the years.  This hospital deals with many tough situations as best as possible.  They are very caring and compassionate about our pets. I love how they treat my dog Po like he is a king. Dr. Paschal I believe that is how you spell it is really thorough when checking Po out and really informative! Not to mention Po loves coming to the vet! When I call them with a question they take their time to understand and figure out a solution. I had taken our four legged son Rana to Veticare hospital on the evening of Aug 26th, not knowing it would be his last day on this earth. It turned out he had a very advanced stage of cancer. My baby died with in a few hours at the hospital. Dr Greshake was on call that evening, and made sure my baby's passing was as dignified and private as possible. He gave us one entire room for almost 7 hrs to be with our dog during his final moments. Dr Greshake was truly compassionate, caring and genuine. He had even forgotten to charge us for a procedure my dog had a few days before his passing.. As sad as the day was, when everything was over, I had an overwhelming feeling of gratitude and satisfaction knowing that my baby was surrounded by people who truly cared for him. Beware: Terrible place to go, understaffed and geared for money only. most times the Techs treat your pet and not the Veterinarian. If your pet has a major need of surgery from a specialist yet this vet can do a surgery, he will do that surgery to make sure he makes money instead of just having it all done at one time by the specialist and save the pet any suffering. I have lost one pet here do to negligence, I have gone to two other vet offices and both have informed me that Vet I Care refuses to release any medical records, not just mine, but for anyone they request it for! Dr. Greshake and staff were my guardian angels when I had to come to Jacksonville to care for a family member in the hospital. I had peace of mind that my pup was in good hands and that meant a lot.
