I brought my exotic pet there because she stopped eating so they gave me something that worked and everything was fine for a week but then she got worse and i brought her back we were given new meds and they said to call 3 days later to check up, i called to say she was getting worse on day three but the vets were busy and i was told id get a call back but i never did and my pet died... i get that that things happen but a year later (recently) i got a card in the mail with my dead pets name on it saying she is due for a check up! Find another Vet. Had I listened to this Vet my dog would have died. They came highly recommended from a friend whose Mother used them. The Vet diagnosed my dog without so much as looking at her, he made me feel as though my questions and concerns were stupid and he was unable to adequately explain the problem after he finally took X rays. Didn’t even do an ultrasound because he was “sure” that my dog required emergency surgery. After many of my questions he back-tracked his diagnosis and told me to come back Monday and he would send out the X rays to a more qualified professional. So we went from a no-look diagnosis to “needs immediate surgery” to well, maybe come back in a few days and we can go over it again. My dog had an ovarian tumor (thankfully benign) that he misdiagnosed as pyometra. Had I allowed him to operate on my dog he would have probably told me that she had cancer and needed to be put to sleep. Had I known that he told my friends Mother that the dog had cancer and needed to be put to sleep (which she did) I never would have gone to him in the 1st place. I got a second opinion the next day & they treated me with intelligence and respect and I went through with the surgery and my dog is back to being happy playful & better than ever. With anything medical that sounds severe or if you get a “feeling” about the inabilities of a Vet or medical professional- go get that 2nd opinion or even 3rd if you feel you need it. Super-friendly front office staff (Lisa & Crissy) nice doctor (met with Kluge (sp?). They offer affordable vet care and boarding. It is a small office feel which I like, it feels less like a corporate vet or boarding facility and more like a friendly office where you know your pet will receive loving and happy care. Their boarding is the least expensive in the area--roughly $34.00 a night for a dog. Their vet fees are pretty reasonable too and they don't do anything without your consent. I believe an office visit is $60.00 and follow-up visit I think is cut in half. I love how kind everyone is in this office and how sweet they are to my dog. A++++ facility and staff. Read Less

Reading all the bad reviews make me a little sad because I think this place is far from a rip off and a GREAT place to bring your animal!!!! I just recently bought a Blue French Bulldog and started going to this vet, as my mom recommended it since she takes our Golden Retriever here. Do not base an entire business off of one vet you see, I have been scheduled with two other vets and will say I didn't love them as much as I do Dr. Gerard!!! He tells it how it is and takes his time with each visit. I asked probably a million questions (since I'm a new dog owner) and he made sure to carefully explain each and every question without rushing me out of the room and even made sure that I had all questions satisfied. He sits down with my dog on the floor and makes sure its comfortable before just stabbing it with a shot, he tells his personal stories and makes it a great time at the vet. My mom had requested to get the flu shot for both our dogs (since we had brought them in together) and Dr. Gerard came in and insisted we didn't need them and explained why (therefore backing up my point that THIS PLACE IS NOT A RIP OFF). If we needed the shots he would have told us, but our dogs don't really interact with many other dogs or board anywhere. Instead of insisting we get every shot in the book to spend even more money he insured we only got what was needed. He even offers some money off when doing everything all at once! Jupiter Animal Hospital is the best! The staff are very nice and go above and beyond to help out with everything! Dr Gerard is the best! I wouldn't take my animals anywhere else! Dr G gets down on the floor with my dog and spends a lot of time with us when we have our visits and takes his time to explain everything we need to know and always answers all the questions we have. Best grooming services that I have found since I moved here five years ago.  I have a goldendoodle and it has not been easy to find a groomer who gets it just right and also listens to my specific preferences.  They did all this and more.  I found Jupiter Animal Hospital through a recommendation from a friend.  I must admit the previous reviews were of concern, BUT I am so happy I did not let other experiences keep me from finding this amazing place.The staff were all friendly and the work was completed in just a couple of hours.  I highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a great groomer.  I was so impressed, I am considering using them for our vet needs. NEVER NEVER NEVER GO HERE!!! THEY LIE AND AND CHEAT TO GET YOUR MONEY! Sleep deprived from our new puppy's nighttime howling for a week, I came to this Animal Hospital mistaking it for North County Animal Hospital just down the street.  I informed the receptionist that I had an appointment, and that we were sent here by A Second Chance Puppies.  The receptionist nodded agreeably, took my information, and then the puppy was given an exam and lots of suggestions were made for additional treatments.  I nodded in agreement and was presented with a $151 bill!  Imagine my shock as I had been informed by A Second Chance Puppies that my first visit to the vet was free!  It was at that moment that I realized something was wrong.  I went home to check my records and discovered to my dismay that I had gone to the wrong animal hospital.  I had just been duped of $151 by Jupiter Animal Hospital!!  I called them up to complain and was informed that this was my problem, not theirs, that I should have known.  When I asked the receptionist why she had not informed me that my scheduled appointment was not on their books, she just said, well, we get lots of walk in's ... My dog began acting "oddly" for several months last year. Dr Gerard had been my vet for the 6 years of her life and I felt he knew and respected both my little Morkie and me. I had him examine her several times and he could find nothing wrong. He wanted to do an anesetic dental cleaning around this period, instead of the regular non-anesthetic one, but I was worried about using anesthesia because of the way she was acting. He asked me if perhaps "I was making my dog sick because I was nervous about the surgery"! ..... me?? This was a terribly condescending and hurtful comment! I knew my dog was ill. I left the practice. I found out several months later that she had a brain tumor and had to be euthanized. Perhaps, had he actually listened to me, since I am the one that knew her best, I would not have lost my darling little girl or she could have had a chance for treatment before it was too late?I do not recommend this unprofessional and arrogant vet! Requested a few different items at check-up and was very disappointed. Specifically asked for facial hair to be trimmed and it wasn't. Also they cut the whiskers on one side of the face. Shouldn't be cutting whiskers and I guess they remembered that halfway through. Also I was charged for fecal test which they did not do and did not ask me to collect a specimen until I brought up that I was charged and there were no results. Asked for records to be emailed to me and they said they would. They didn't and those records were necessary so that I could place my cats in pet daycare in Sarasota during the hurricane. Went up there to get them and was greeted by the veterinarian being a TOTAL jerk. Sorry to bug you but if you had done what you said you would I wouldn't have to come up there when I should be boarding up my home. Read Less

We have a 10 year old Airedale with a large growth on her tail. We needed a new veterinarian and took a chance on Jupiter animal hospital. Dr Gerard was amazing   He took such care to explain her condition to us and along with his caring team took care of her quickly. He kept her and performed surgery the next day. He called us after surgery to ease our minds and said he would keep her one more night to check on her and give her some love. When we first moved to Jupiter we were looking for vets in the area to have heartworm tests done on our 2Chihuahuas and a consult for dental cleanings.  Well, the heartworm tests were like $60 freaking bucks PER DOG.....and they quoted us over $1k (ONE THOUSAND) per dog for their teeth cleanings because they "needed" an exorbitant number of teeth extracted, blah blah blah...gonna leave my dogs basically toothless.  WHAAAAAAT?!  NO!!!  SO, We took them back to our AWESOME vet in Boynton Beach (Best Vet, Dr. Armstrong) who did the teeth cleaning, extracted a couple of teeth (no where near the # of the the other Dr. was claiming) gave them a parvo shot they needed, gave them their antibiotics, and we bought a case of dog food for just under $500!  The other Dr. wanted just over $2k for just the teeth cleaning and extractions!!!!!!!!  Now fast forward....I needed Heartworm pills so I ordered them on 1800petmeds website. They require the Dr. who performed the heartworm test to send in a prescription.  So, i send them the vet's info to get approval and they approved the pills under Vixen's name.  I go last week to order said pills again under Sookie's name and this vets office calls me to say they will not approve it because supposedly 1800petmeds is a blackmarket business yada yada...but I can come get them from them.  AGAIN, WHHAAAAAT?! I needed immediate attention for a cat Friday afternoon and although I received the same answer from this clinic as I did all others I called (we are closing soon) they did say they would take this cat the next morning at 10:30 a.m.  I explained to them the cat must remain in the carrier until seen and would probably be sitting in its own urine and could they see it first thing in the morning?  No, they said, 10:30 a.m. was the best they could do?!  I did find a clinic (Animal Med Cntr of Jupiter) that took my cat first thing, provided exceptional care at at good price!  Where do you think I will be going in the future? I read several other reviews here that were negative about Dr. Gerard...and how this place is all about money. I'm sorry but I completely disagree and I must come to this vets defense. I moved to Florida 3 years ago and in that time needed to bring my senior citizen dog in several times to see Dr. Gerard. I initially brought him there because I didn't know where else to go being new to town but I had a very pleasant experience and chose to back again and again. Of course no vet is ever really cheap but never once did I feel like I was being taken or overcharged. As a matter of fact once I asked him if he could take an xray of my dog for a particular problem and he said no, he didn't want to waste my money because he already knew what the problem was. He could have just done the xray, I would have never known the difference. Another time my dog had worms, which was confirmed and they just gave me medication and didn't even charge me for an office visit. Another time I brought my cat for a urinary infection and I suggested they sedate her because she goes WILD. They didn't though....they made it through exam without it. Dr. Gerard specifically said he didn't want to traumatize her more....they could have just done it and charged me for it especially because I asked for it and all other prior vets have done that. This seems like good care to me. Not money driven.Twice my dog had infected teeth and needed extractions. He was in pain with a swollen face. I admit this was not a cheap day for me both times...but that is not Dr Gerard specific, that's what happens when you have an older dog that has a lot of wear and tear. It's like a human trip to the dentist, not cheap either. Dr. Gerard seems so nice, personable and caring in my opinion. I'm glad my dog has him in his last few years. If he is only out for money, I must be blind. Very professional and never seems rushed. The staff is always so nice and friendly too especially the assistant , I wish I could remember her name. Moved to Florida last year, and brought my dog to Promenade. They are warm ,friendly and very caring. This year we added a new puppy to our family and they are very nurturing, and never make us feel as though our questions are unimportant. I also never feel rushed when the doctors are in the room. I also LOVE their online site, you can do everything from there! I am sad to return to Chicago for a few months, we will miss them...let's hope my dogs do not need medical attention while home. I've been taking both my dogs there for 3 or 4 years for grooming and health needs. One of my dogs has a recurring skin allergy. The doctor insists upon an office visit to renew the antibiotic prescription. I get that if it seems to be something new or different but this is the same thing in the same spot each time. Once I was able to get a refill without an office visit because the allergy came back within a 6 month period. However, today I was told the doctor required an office visit and the last bout of the allergy was only 4 months ago. Also, when Dr. Gerard's associate remarked, "Ewww, what's that on your dogs nose (he is an older dog and has a little cauliflower looking growth on his nose) I wasn't exactly instilled with confidence in her. Very pricey!  They gave me a coupon for a free office visit at an event.  The catch was they only do so much on the initial visit and want to schedule additional follow-up visits where they can charge you the office visit fee.  I took my dog for a check-up and they didn't want to do the vaccinations at that time.  5 Days later when I took my dog to be groomed, they notified me she would need her vaccinations 1st before they could groom her and they had to charge me a $45 office visit to give her a rabies shot.  The total bill to have her groomed was going to be $250 once they added the vaccinations and the office visit.   They never mentioned any of this until I showed up for my appointment. DO NOT USE this vet! I took my dog to them with a droopy eye and costant snorting/reverse sneezing. She spent 5minutes with him, gave me attitude, acted like my vet from NC was crazy for what she said it could (although that was the problem), TC me he was fine but prescribed him meds anyway and told me to call her back in a week if he wasn't better. Better from what not sure since she stated he was fine. He actually had breathed in an item that was stuck deep inside and had to be removed while under all found out by another vet who really checked him out and then a specialty vet did ct and removal. So a waste of money, time, and aggravation. My dog will never be back there again and I would suggest you DON'T visit this vet.
