The worst place to go; no respect for appointments They think their time is valuable, but you, as a patient, have to wait without ETA even if you have scheduled an appointment My appointment was at 11:30 Dec 7and the doctor saw my dog at 1 pm(hour and a half waiting) And today was my recheck at 10:15. I showed up at 10:00 and 11:15, and I asked the girl at the front desk when I would see the doctor. She said she didn't know, and I had to wait without any ETA And I left without rechecking after I wasted my time with them Read Less

I came here because my dog was crying in pain the night before, they prescribed him 6 different medications so at one point he was taking 9 pills a day, all towards arthritis, prostate and cancer. The vet said that he had cancer and that I should consider amputation but it may be hard if his body. As well as to consider his quality of life. As devastating as this news made me feel he still quoted me for a neuter and teeth cleaning and extraction. To me why consider those things if he is about to pass away soon. Their priority should of been what to do to make him comfortable not risk putting him under anesthesia if he is already struggling. So I decided to go to another clinic for a second opinion and they found no signs of cancer and even did new blood work and a cytology which was never brought up by the previous vet. I brought this information back to Mayfair and you can tell that they could care less. They were more concerned about why I was so upset about the thought of my dog possibly having cancer then their misdiagnosis. At the end of the day they just want money as I can now see from a majority of these reviews. Read Less

I visited the vet yesterday with a very sick dog who could barely breath and had a horrible cough. The doctor took a quick look at him and said he had an "Upper Respiratory Infection and a heart Murmur". A heart murmur that he didn't have 4 months ago and was told he had a strong healthy heart. He did No Xrays, Nothing just listened to his chest and sent us on our way with hundred dollars of medicines he didn't need.I took my dog home, gave him the medicine the doctor prescribed and he got worse. He started having blood coming out of his mouth while coughing. So i frantically called the vet and the doctor said that it was normal. Normal?!I shouldn't have trusted that doctor or this vet! Last night my dog died chocking on his own blood and fluid in his lungs! We had to watch him suffer while racing to the emergency vet. My husband was able to revive him by doing chest compressions on the way to the hospital but there is no telling if he will make it now.The emergency vet was shocked at what the doctor gave us and that he didn't do an X-ray.I will never go back to this doctor and I would not trust him with our pets or anyone else's!We trusted the Vet, even when we told him that our dog was coughing up some blood. They told us "that it was to be expected with his heart condition." So in our minds at that point we were doing what the vet told us. Even though it didn't seem right, we thought maybe the sickness had to run its course. Let me explain his "heart condition". The vet told my wife in October he had a strong and healthy heart, yesterday he had a stage 3 murmur. So in 3-4 months he goes from a strong healthy heart to a stage 3 out of 6 heart murmur. Maybe if a dog is sick all of a sudden and had a strong heart 3-4 months ago, and has a cough and difficulty breathing you should use more then a stethoscope, to try and diagnose the problem?? But what gets me is the coughing up blood was all of a sudden due to his "heart condition" that he didn't have 3-4 months ago, and it was normal for that to occur. We should of known better but we trusted the vets words. At 7:30 last night my dog made a yelp noise as he tried to move, I went to comfort him, then all of a sudden he went limp... lifeless... we are both freaking out, don't know what to do. I started to do chest compressions, each time I pump his chest pinkish blood/liquid foamed out of his nose... Horrible sight to see and will never forget.. I tried over and over, more came out. He woke up but barley. We hopped in the car and while driving to emergency vet, he went lifeless again, this time releasing his bowls. I thought he was gone but I kept pumping his chest and blowing air in his mouth, turning him over from time to time to see if he would cough it up and awaken. I honestly can't tell you how long he was unresponsive, but he did wake again, and took some more breaths, he was in out of consciousness on the way to ER. He is a Maltese, so he is a white colored dog. Still have the vision of pumping his lifeless body, with his white hair on his face all bloody. When we got him to ER, they said he was barely alive. They couldn't believe that no ex rays were done at the vet visits. He had to spend the night last night, ER vet said that he has a 20% chance to live. Hopefully in about a hour we will find out some good news. I'm angry and sad about this whole situation which could of been prevented or been caught earlier if only the Vet at Mayfair Pet Hospital would of been more diligent and performed tests that could of confirmed his upper respiratory infection. Because if he would of did the ex ray he would of seen the fluid build up around his heart. ER vet said he had pulmonary edema, pneumonia and something else I don't remember. He did on Feb 5th literally the same night I took him to this Vet. Read Less

I took my beloved doggie here for the first time and the first thing I notice was the chaos inside. Looks very ghetto. Then the doctor diagnosed my dog with a condition base on labs only and did not suggest any further testing like xray or an ultra sound. I didn't know what was wrong with her bc she was bleeding from every where he (Dr. Segota) diagnose her with an auto immune disease gave her medicine and let her go home.  The next morning my baby was in a pool of blood I rushed her to the doctor again and they suggested a blood transfusion so I did it.  All I wanted was to save her life at no cost. When I when to pick her up that same day the doctor didn't even attend me. He rushed out the office in a hurry I called him and he kept walking like he didn't hear me. No sympathy what so ever for my dog or me. I had asked him and the assistant if it was cancer bc it just wasn't making any sense to me.  Everyone said no and just base on labs only. The next day I had to rush her back to the hospital and I definitely didn't take her back there I when to Crystal Creek animal hospital where they finally did xray and an ultra sound and they finally found what she had CANCER . They treated me so well and let me stay there in a room with my baby for 7 hrs until I said good bye.  I WOULD NEVER GO TO MAYFAIR AGAIN.  Worst place ever. Read Less

I've been visiting this office since I've had my first dog in 2012, and every pet ever since, I have never had an issue until this past visit. I had a 5 month old Great Dane named Lily, she began to become lethargic starting Thursday 6/21/18. I felt she was coming down with something, her feces and urine was normal but she wouldn't eat or drink that day, come Friday 6/22/18 she would have no energy and still no eating or drinking, I felt it was bad so without question I sent her to this office with my wife Nuyi, they examined her and after a $319 bill they told she was completely normal besides a bit of anemia due to lack of food and water and that she had a case of hook worms, gave her some shots for nutrition and pills for the worms and sent her home, she never got better, when I came home she immediately began with diarrhea and a smell I will never forget. We called the office Saturday morning the minute they opened so I can send her over there, SOMETHING WASN'T RIGHT! They told us it was normal and that we shouldn't bring her, that if we felt she didn't get any better by Monday to bring her in again. SHE NEVER MADE IT TILL 2PM!! She began to bleed from her anus and passed away. My CHILD passed away in front of us, I couldn't do anything about it. She shouldn't have ever passed in that way. She passed 1 day after visiting the doctor, 1 DAY!! I then called and everyone sounded surprised, "She was normal she shouldn't have passed", I have 4 chihuahuas at home and ask if they should be checked for worms too and they sent me on my way with an extra $90+ bill for their pills, at minimum I should have seen those $319+ bill refunded, they promised me till at least Monday to see if she improved and couldn't even deliver on that, now this office has a heartbroken family and they get away with $400+ for what, she deserved better. If this office wants to speak with me you have my number, I expect the right thing to be done, I shouldn't have buried her this early in her life, she lived a happy life and she left too early... I love this pet hospital. The staff is super friendly and you can tell they love their job. The doctor is amazing and definitely not money hungry like other vets I've been to. The first time my dog had a injury I took him to a vet in Winter Haven and they charged me $700 for X-rays, prescriptions and the visit. On top of that they didn't even X-ray the correct part of my dogs body. That's when I took him to Mayfair for the first time and they did the same exact services for $200 and they found the problem and they gave my dog a safer prescription that took the problem away. I brought my dog king here because he was itching. I felt like the staff and doctors were not knowledgeable and just wanted my money, because they kept making me come back. All I wanted was my dog to get better no matter how much I spent but they made me spent a lot of money and yet my dog was the same, I had to bring him to another vet and now he's perfect. I say this because they prescribed two medications, I gave it to my dog and it didn't work. After a month I went back they said he had to keep taking it just needed to up the dosage and needed more time. Again I paid for that visit and more medications and nothing changed. The third time I spoke to another vet and they said still gave me the same medications nothing ever changed. Then they claimed he had a chronic condition, if that was the case then wouldn't they have gave me the right medication for his "chronic condition". Very bad experience. Running an animal rescue this place has the best pricing for the amount of animals I have to bring in. It's not the prettiest office but by far the best of the low cost animal hospitals. I tried them out because of the pricing and location. They told me how much my visit would most likely be when I made the appointment and kept me informed of the prices throughout the visit which I appreciated. I've been to a lot of vets that just do stuff without asking and the bill ends up being enormous. The front desk lacks professionalism, but I only care about the vets. I have seen two different vets since I've been there and I really liked both of them. They are honest and were so sweet with my rescues. I have a cat that I rescued who was terribly afraid and aggressive towards people and I felt they handled her great. She actually stayed calm through the visit and I was very impressed that they didn't put any extra stress on her. I was also pleased that they let me call in additional meds that she needed and pick them up without bringing her back in. I recommend this place to anyone who doesn't have a lot of cash to blow. The vet is very familiar with my roommate's dog and answered any questions he or I had. They treated him immediately and all the services were reasonably priced and told to him ahead of time. The only thing I was dissapointed about was that I asked the vet if the dog would suffer any side effects from the anesthesia? The vet said no but the dog had an accident in the car on the way home which was uncharacteristic of him and was loopy for several hours after the local anesthesia was given. September 21, 2016 Mayfair John Young Pet Hospital does not smell like urine and it is very clean. It's not fancy and part of the facility is a modular building, that is why the fees are not astronomically high. You don't need fancy building and decor in order to give excellent care to animals and be very empathetic to the Parents (owners) of the patients. To the person that made the comment regarding the staff having tattoos, and the comment regarding the female staff. How dare you compare these, wonderful, staff members to prisoners. And the comment about the female staff's femininity. The staff is there to care for the animals, not to win a beauty contest ve in a fashion show, or looking for a date. They wear scrubs. I never heard of anyone complaining of nurses not being very feminine because they wear scrubs. And I don't know what their femininity has to do with their position at the hospital. The staff and Dr. Whaley are absolutely some of the most caring, considerate, sympathetic and educated people in the field of animal care. I have two five year old dogs, a pug, Bo and a pomeranian/papillon mix, Red. When Bo was about 10 months old he became very ill. He injested a string. The Doctors and staff at Mayfair were very knowledgeable about finding out what was wrong with him and what had to be done to save him. They admitted Bo and he required surgery. They took very excellent care of him and they saved his life. Just last week Red became ill. We took him in and Dr. Whaley knew exactly what to do to find out what was wrong with him. In no time he had run test and found out that his kidneys were not functioning properly. It was very serious. He knew exactly what care was needed to save Red. He admitted him to the hospital and Red was there for four days. We were able to visit him and the staff could not have been more accommodating. When it was time for Red to come home the Tech insisted on bathing him before we took him home. I would highly recommended Mayfair John Young Pet Hospital to anyone in the Osceola County area. I know first hand what a wonderful facility it is. Debbie CrosbyRead Less

Let's be realistic...it is an old place and it is not pretty, it could smell bad at times but it is for the many pets that visit this place and some conditions could make an animal smell bad ... this is without counting pee and poop. Ive been taking my Harley for vaccines for the last 4yrs (visit the place once a year) however....this last Wednesday I went for vaccines with my new rescue dog Tini. I had previously met Dr.James Segota on a previous visit with Harley and I liked the way he helped us and answered all our questions. On Wednesday I went with Tini and he also gave us great service which made me feel more comfortable with him. 5 days later today I had to go again, during the weekend it seems like Tini pulled something on her front leg and was limping and Dr J was so nice with her. Service is great, Nicole at the front desk is super nice and prices are affordable!!!! Both days I visited this week I was there 30 min before my appointment and was out in no more than 45min.Read Less

Visited 3xPros:  the vet and vet techsCons:  moody females at the front desk, crowded small lobby, closes early in the day, hard to get a hold of the actual vet I'm still thinking if we should give them another chance.  Not sure if it's worth it.  On our last visit, it was an emergency because our 1 year old healthy puppy ended up having  a seizure that day.  And of course, front desk said we can come in and when we finally got there, we were turned away.  That's pretty horrible. If you want a top-notch vet with experience and compassion for you as well as your beloved pet- you should call this facility and ask for Dr. James Segota. He goes by 'Dr. J.' Last week I brought my 11 year old Rottweiler 'Dream' in with a suspected UTI and pain issues from arthritis. He answered every question I had and taught me things I never knew. My dog is usually suspicious of men at first meeting, but not with Dr. J. She somehow knew she could trust him and remained relaxed and calm throughout his examination. Excellent, friendly service from the staff at check in and check out. Thank you Alyssa, Alicia, Joann and Hospital Director, Trish. And Lizzie who has worked here a very long time is the best vet tech ever. Mayfair only charges $35 for an office visit and if all you need are vaccinations tell them that when you make the appointment and you won't be charged an office visit. They have an area around the corner of the front desk where the doctors vaccinate pets in between the office visits of other clients. I don't care about easy parking or having an expensive, luxury facility (referring to criticism I've read from others.) What makes the difference in any business is people and this business is staffed with great ones. At check out, the other doctor with long hair saw my big Rottweiler, greeted her, knelt down and kissed her right on her nose! This staff loves animals and wants to help us keep them healthy. And I will never care how long an emergency for someone else's baby keeps me waiting for the best vet care I've ever experienced in my 40 years of owning and loving pets. Five stars for the Mayfair Team. Read Less

Moved to the area and needed a new vet for my Chug. She seemed off and I didn't know what was wrong. They were quick to get me in (visit was a week ago). The receptionist ladies were barely friendly. The rest of the staff we met were terrific to my sweet girl. Why a 3 rating? They say they are low cost but the up-sell will get you. For example, our previous vet would write a script for antibiotics that I could take to Publix or Walmart and get filled for free. They charged me $47.40. They recommended she eat Hills Science Diet at $30 for 8 lb bag (urinary tract specialty) but my dog is so allergic to all the preservatives in it that I'm up late at night tonight (plenty of time to write this review) while she digs, scratches and paces (we'll be calling them tomorrow). One vaccination shot was $28. By the time I left my bill was $258 for a dog that they diagnosed with some poop blockage (gave stool softener) and a potential for urinary tract infection (some crystals in pee). Wow. I will thoroughly exam the bill next time! That's right, I'll be going back because of that awesome bedside manner with my baby that the doc and tech had. I'll just keep track of the charges better next time. Oh and I'll be prepared for the long wait and lack of parking spaces. Read Less

This place is horrible. I have been going here for a few years because its inexpensive.  But every time I go service is horrendous.  The parking is poor if you can find a place to park. Front desk is so unorganized if not just lost. I aways wait 1 to 1.5 hours to see vet with appointment.  The last straw was when I took my dog in I was told I had to be there as soon as hospital opened,  my dog was going under to get some teeth pulled. When I got there the staff had not arrived. I had to wait almost 30 min while they cleaned the seats, mopped the floor,  opened computers. The staff came in looking like they had been drinking the night before. After they were done doing there opening duties they then acknowledged me. Why didn't staff arive early to open office,so it would be up and running at opening time? There are so many stories of bad service there, I could write a book. If I have to pay more to go to another vet I will just for peace of mind. I will not take my dogs back here. Read Less

If your going to make appointments then don't schedule so many people you can't keep to the schedule.  There was no parking, had to park in the grass. Not to mention this place is just an old set of trailers. The staff was friendly however seemed very disorganized. It may be cheaper, than most vets but I'll pay $5 more to not wait in line all day and to have a place to park. Read Less

Like the previous review said, the waiting room is rough. The prices are great, the vets are kind. However I think the customer service could be a lot better.  I brought two of my dogs for a check up and had an appointment, I waited an hour and a half before I was seen. I thought maybe it was just because it was busy on a Saturday. Today I had an appointment, a Tuesday morning, for my dog to get one vaccine. I waited over an hour while everyone else got called.  There was someone else who said their appointment was at 10 and I saw them get called at 11:45. I ended up being the only one sitting in the waiting area for 35 minutes. No one said a word to me, they acted like I wasn't there. So I got up and left. How can you not acknowledge your customers that have been waiting that long when it's just them sitting there in front of the desk? What's the point of an appointment for one shot if you just let everyone else go ahead and leave me sitting there? They have lost my business. Read Less

My two American bull dogs (versace and Amarni) have Been patients there for five years it is kinda rough in the waiting room, but it's worth the wait. All the doctors are great I personally love Dr. Whaley.  He is a very caring vet. He talks to my dogs as he examines them Pets them and when they come in with their terrible skin allergies he shows alot of concern he treats them as if they were his own., He makes sure that when my spouse and I leave with the dogs we understand the instructions with the medications. He always explains  why the medications are necessary if meds have to be prescribed.     You can tell he truly loves animals.  The assistant that we usually get is  Lizzie she treats my babies with great care after the doctor goes over the meds, and treatment s Lizzie always explains how they should be administered.  She always find the time to pet them and give them each one treat after they gettheir annual vaccines.  Dr. Balogh is wonderful as well and so is Dr.Young. My dogs have been treated by each doctor and they are all personable and very caring towards the animals.  Yeah so the waiting room needs a little work, but for the type of care my babies get and Its affordable,  I don't care if I had to wait in the parking lot.   Thanks to all the doctors and their hard work and dedication as well as all the assistants that help out .. especially Lizzie. Your very much appreciated,  and if I could make one request or world be to have one of those doggie poles in the parking lot that have the little blue bags to for people to pick up after their dogs.Like the ones that are in the parks.people are just letting their dogs go potty and just leave it there and then people and other pets are exposed to it. If you only need routine checkups and shots, this vet is fine. We brought our dog in today with a 105 fever, heavy panting, and muscle cramps. After they did bloodwork and an ultrasound, they determined he had a gallbladder blockage and sent my husband 40 minutes away to Affiliated Veterinary Specialists, who they said would do the surgery. They told my husband to just bring the dog up there and they would be open and said they were open 24 hours, but didn't realize that those hours are only for ESTABLISHED patients, NOT walk-ins.  When they realized their error, they compensated us with six months' of Trifexis for our dog.  Luckily, our dog is okay. My boyfriend and I were lucky to find a low-cost vet so close to our home.  We have 2 adorable babies, Lexi & Khloey (both pure-bred Pembroke Welsh Corgis), and we want to provide them with quality care.  Oftentimes, however, our tight budget won't usually allow us to take them to the most top-notch facilities. This is what's so wonderful about Mayfair; even though their prices are low, they've still managed to provide great service and care to our girls.  At first glance the place looks kind of sketch (the office is a double-wide trailer in someone's backyard basically) and it looks old and somewhat run down, but the staff and their level of service more than makes up for its appearance.  Both Dr. Balogh and Dr. Thurman were very pleasant to deal with and were very kind to us and the girls.  Each of our visits didn't seem rushed or impersonal.  The office staff and vet techs were also very helpful, efficient and friendly. The only downsides to this place other than appearance are parking and forms.  While they do have a private lot, the parking spaces are very limited so sometimes it's difficult to find a space especially in the late afternoon when people start getting off of work.  Also, you have to fill out an information sheet during every visit.  This isn't that much of a hassle, but sometimes it's nice to just be able to say your name at the reception desk and do nothing else (esp. when you have 2 very curious dogs to hang on to).  I guess I can't really complain too much since these are some of the ways they keep overhead costs down to keep prices low for their customers.Overall a wonderful experience!

Especially for simple things like shots, deworming and microchips. Great prices and great vets. Read Less

I helped out my roommate yesterday who needed to take his dog in to have a tick bite examined. The place is nothing fancy and there's a lot of clientele with their pets so it can get noisy and crowded but it was still very welcoming. The staff was friendly and helpful. Other than that I thought the place was friendly, helpful, and reasonably priced.Read Less

Read Less

About 1 year ago, while my family was experiencing some financial difficulties, our dog became very ill.  I went to Mayfair and they saved our beloved baby's life for a VERY reasonable fee.  I am very grateful for the care they provided when most vets turned us away.  This goodwill  gesture to strangers and their sick pet created loyal customers.  Thank you Mayfair for saving our baby. Read Less

I was so excited to go to this vet for the first time after hearing about it from coworkers. However after setting up an appointment three + weeks in advance, I arrived and the waiting room was very over crowded, had to stand. Waited 30 minutes and there were still 3-4 people with appointments in front of me so I left.

Anyway my dogs will be patients at this clinic. Yours warmly Janice M. Casadevall Read Less

Great vets have really shown love and care for both my cat and puppy. They are very accommodating and willing to answer any questions you may have.

WOW, I would never bring my Dog there again. The staff is rude, they have no sense of caring and I would never recommend them to anyone. They have great pricing for annual vaccinations which is the only thing they might be good for as your just in or out. But if your pet is actually sick and like any pet owner that actually cares about their pet, you would expect some compassion. They HAVE NONE and they have no sense of customer service as the staff is completely rude and could care less about any of their patients. Go anywhere else if you care about your pet. Read Less
