Best Animal Hospital I have ever been to.  I drive 3 hours from South Florida to Alfred for the best care for my dogs.  Very knowledgeable veterinarians Dr McDaniel and Dr Nye.  They are there to give your animal the best care.   They have saved and given the best care to a few of my dogs, care that I have not found anywhere near me in South Florida, it's worth the 3 hour drive.  Everytime I have an emergency I start driving and already on my way I give them a call when they open and every time they have taken care of my dogs even with the busy schedule they always have.  There is absolutely nothing negative I can say about Lake Alfred Animal Hospital, the best I have ever known.  I have even brought other dogs of friends of mine here when they need special care and treatment.  They are the best. I really like the doctors here and the care is good.  The price is also reasonable.  The only thing I don't like is that you can't get in if there is an emergency - they make appts several days out - you have to go the emergency vet clinic instead.  I would like it if my vet would see my animals the same day if there is an emergency rather than have them treated by a stranger at a much higher cost. Lake Alfred is usually busy, so make your appointment. They are busy because Dr Mary is just that good! She hasn't dogs interest first and foremost in her mind. CANT BELIEVE HOW RUDE THE RECEPTIONIST WAS.I called  5/18/18 as I am new to the area wanted to know more about the hospital. When I called the receptionist asked if I could hold I said I just have one quick question.  She so rudely said " I am in the middle of something you need to hold". She kept me on hold for 10 minutes - so i hung up and called back. She answered again and I asked her the same question- no response she just hung up. My dogs go to Dr Mary who we like .Today I have a sick dog who has green slime poop for 2 days after looking up and reading about this , it recommended we see a vet a.s.a.p. called and was told they had No appointments until next week..This is not good in my opinion I would have thought they would have taken me at the end of day... I’ve been going to Lake Alfred animal hospital for about three years now. Dr. Mary Mcdnaiel and her staff really know what their doing. I’m a French Bulldog breeder and being able to have a vet that specializes in dog pregnancy all the way through is very helpful. I take my adult female for all her shots, wellness exams and X-rays; puppies for their shots, exams, and health certifications. Going in again for our second X-ray in May. My first experience with this place was not a happy one but they helped me so much. I had to have my chihuahua put to sleep. They are SOOO nice,caring, and compassionate. Today i had an appointment with a litter of puppies . We had this appointment scheduled last friday but i mistook the times and got to their facility while they were in surgery , i opted to reschedule because i wouldn't have the time to stay as i though my appointment was at one and worked shortly after . Regardless we came back at 230 because one of our puppies was really sick and couldn't wait till Monday. Today i was called to my sons school , he is type one diabetic and had a seizure in the middle of class. As you can imagine my priority was my son and called to reschedule either for a later time or day that week . The front desk was foul and disrespectful . she had no compassion or will to understand what our situation was . All she kept mentioning was that this was upto the owners discretion and that they would not see our puppies because i was making them loose money and holding others appointments. This is after i had already spent 150 that Friday when i had my original appointment . Your staff belittled me and made me feel like my puppies were not up to par to be seen even though we have been there many times before and have rescheduled litters and other routine appointments with no issues . Maybe the front desk was having an off day today and wasn't ready to be at work ! Whoever it was has an attitude that is not deserving to uphold a job in the customer service spectrum . I will be reporting this business to the BBB and will def make sure that there is a review and acknowledgment at the chamber of commerce. After i stabilized my son and was able to leave the school i called backed 15 minutes before my appointment to let them know i would be able to make it and i was told that my puppies would not be seen , that they were already booked and that in order for me to reschedule i had to call the day that i wanted to go and hope that they had an opening or that i needed another vet . This veterinary clinic is the best. We are from out of state and were in the state breeding our Mastiff. We did not realize it was so difficult to find In-house same day progesterone testing in this state. We called 10+ other clinics in the area and was told it was all sent out to a lab and would not get results for at least a day or 2. We called lake Alfred and they said come on in and they would fit us in. We got there and they were busy but in a half an hour we were in the room and my dog (Ziva) was getting her blood drawn. We payed the fee that was a little less than we nomally paid in the past at other vets and left to grab something to eat. In about an hour they called us and told us her of pg level was at 13 and today and tomorrow was optimal time for breeding. We informed the breeder we were on our way. I recently had to take my long haired calico Gingy in as she had been overcome by an illness and was not eating. I knew in my heart that it was time to let her go as she had arthritis and was very weak from her illness. Gingy has been with us since she was a kitty for 20.5 years. Dr. McDaniel and her staff were so kind to me and explained my options giving me choices that I thoughtfully pondered. I decided it was time for Gingy to make her way up the rainbow bridge. It was heart breaking for me however I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do. The staff at Lake Alfred Animal hospital comforted me and gave me the time I needed to say good bye. I have been breeding and showing Chow Chows for over 30 years and I live in Miami FL, I have been using Mary for years with my pets and Show DOGS from the most simple needs to complicate it ones, like OFA's, semen collections and C-sections. Her knowledge and fees are like no other. I drive 4 hours for Mary and her staff to take care of my dogs. Recently had the worst experience. The 2 girls working behind the desk have the rudest, uncompassionate, insulting, vulgar, incompetent, inconsiderate and just plain disgusting personalities of anyone I've ever met that work with the public. The vet's are actually good vet's but they just don't care if their staff treats people like dirt. After this last encounter with the inadequate staff, my family and myself will NO LONGER patron Lake Alfred Animal Hospital!!! AND NOW THE WHOLE STAFF INCLUDING DR MCDANIELS GOT MAD OVER MY GOOGLE POST AND THEY WILL NOT ORDER OUR CEDAR BOX FOR OUR DECEASED PET. Terrible, terrible vet! I took my dog in for a dental and negligent staff let her suffer multiple thermal burns! They were so rude and did not accept any real fault! They barely apologized and took forever to send a check to cover all the numerous vet bills I had to cover treatments of her burn! Shameful vet who cares more about themselves than their clients!
