I am new to the area and my two small dogs needed much care. I went to the Canal Animal Hospital for the first time and as soon as I went thru the door I felt like family. The professionalism and caring attitude and the kindness they showed me and my pets was so wonderful. I never once worried about my babies. SO impressed with how much the Canal Animal Hospital staff cares for their furry patients! I was bringing my pup in for his yearly check-up, vaccines, and annual testing. My dog, Leo, was a bit nervous which is completely normal for our vet visits, unfortunately. The staff tried their absolute best to help him feel as comfortable as possible. I didn't feel rushed whatsoever during our visit, and all of my options were laid out to me before paying. I didn't even know you could obtain a rabies tag at the vet! I didn't feel that I was overpaying for any services my pup was receiving and all of my questions were answered without hesitation. If you are in need of a knowledgeable, loving vet- please give Canal Animal Hospital a chance! I brought my little, old man in for an emergency and ended up finding our vet. I called, almost crying as my little guy had a pretty gruesome cut on his face, and they got us in ASAP. They gave him stitches and he was home within a few hours. 3 weeks later, his face looks amazing! considering how ragged the wound was, they did an amazing job! Everyone was beyond friendly and they have the most beautiful greeter mancoon EVER. I ended up bringing both my old men in and they were great with the fact one wasn't dog friendly. They also FINALLY helped my sharpei mix with his allergies! Other vets gave him steroids and antibiotics, which never worked. Here, he got something for his itchy skin AND IT WORKS They also got his arthritis under control! I haven't seen my big, old man have a burst of puppy in YEARS and he has no problem getting in bed anymore. 12/10- would go back to just pet the cats Read Less

I can't say enough nice things about Dr. Butan and his staff. Canal Animal Hospital oversaw the care of our 16 year old cat with kidney disease. Dr. Butan didn't try to sell us unnecessary diagnostic testing because he's experienced enough to know what's happening with our animal without expensive tests. He also didn't try to upsell products or services that wouldn't be effective. He was targeted and fiscally responsible with our cat's care and focused on the products and services that could make a real difference. This enabled us to maximize benefit given our budget. We are young professionals with student loans and we're having a baby - so financing pet care is always a concern. With other vets, we've had some serious sticker shock and always had to be on guard about unexpected charges. With Canal I also felt that all the fees and costs were extremely reasonable. Anyone who says Canal overcharges isn't experienced in paying for veterinary care (especially in the West Palm Beach/South Florida area). We’re from Indiana where the cost of living is much cheaper and I believe Canal’s fees are reasonable even by Midwestern standards. Dr. Butan and his staff handled our cat's end of life care with dignity and respect. We were basket cases (and probably a little high maintenance) approaching our cat's death and everyone at Canal was SO VERY KIND to us. Dr. Butan made himself readily available to us and always answered all our questions. He's very patient! I can also tell that Dr. Butan genuinely cares about animals. We will continue to bring our other animals to Canal Animal Hospital and are VERY SATISFIED. I don't write glowing reviews like this often, but I am so very GRATEFUL to Dr. Butan and his staff. CAH is a calm welcoming place and clean space. An animal health facility where you sense protection care and concern for your pet in an intimate family like environment.  My cat Pandora  is always respectfully treated and extended the best care possible By Dr. Butan and his team.I did quite a bit of research  before choosing to take my cat to CAH. . I have met several veterinarians after a lifetime parenting both dogs and cats.  Dr. Butan has decades of experience as a veterinarian.He is down to earth and compassionate.  He knows his stuff but is not stuffy...He is realistic and honest and  clearly defines what is  possible before certain treatments like surgery. I think that is an excellent way to be because it prepares pet parents for unexpected events. CAH is a calm welcoming place and clean space. I just moved to Florida and was quite concerned about not being able to find an animal hospital that I liked. I'm so glad to have found this place! Everybody there is so nice and knowledgeable and they truly seem to care about their patients. The premises are clean and the prices are reasonable. Labwork is done in-house, which is so important because it means there's no waiting an entire day to find out what is going on with your pet! I have only brought one of my cats to see Dr. Butan so far but I fully intend to bring my whole furry clan there for all of their medical needs! I never write reviews but I am making an exception because I need to share my experience with Dr. Butan. My dog had been very sick and I was taking her to my veterinarian for 5 months and they took blood, treated her with a mixture of probiotics, anti-diarrhea pills and antibiotics, but they ignored her labored breathing and her lack of energy. They blamed it on her age (12). She never got better. She would be okay for a few days and then relapse. I got fed up and took her to Dr. Butan. He looked at her blood work, noticed her eyes were dry and said the thyroid looked low. He asked if the previous vet ever did a blood panel on her thyroid. I said no- low and behold my dog has a low thyroid. Five months of going to colonial veterinary and they never diagnosed the problem, which Dr Butan diagnosed the first time he saw her and probably saved her life. Read Less

This is by far the best veterinary clinic I have ever used. They are all so caring and knowledgeable. Dr Butan is amazing! He has taken such good care of my girls and I will never take them anywhere else. They never suggest unnecessary treatments, and are always cost friendly. When one of my cats got seriously ill earlier this year, they were so fast to jump into action and saved her life! You know what? They still were conscious about how much the charges were, and kept me informed about every step.
