I have been coming here for about 25 years and over the years I have noticed rudeness, prices going up and knowledge going down. Today I had my dog there and they were very rough with this quiet little deerhead chihuahua. I had my cat there a month ago because he was in kidney failure. I purchased a bag of fluids which they gave him some and told me I could bring him back to have them administer the fluids or I could take it home and do it myself. I asked for the bag to do it myself and they informed me that I didn't buy fluids. I showed them the receipt and they gave me a 20.00 bill and told me to find a new vet after I spent about 700.00 in the last 2 months. Good riddance,  I will find a new vet. Read Less

I have a 19 yr old Cat that was seen by Dr. Stansberry (Mediocre at best )called back in to let the doctor know that the shot didn't work so he prescribed medication. I was informed by Gail (great help) that she would not be in on Saturday the 16th that someone else would be ordering the medicine for me. I had not heard back from anyone from the clinic so I called in on the 20th to see what was going on with the order and they had not yet ordered the medicine and at this time I had asked to speak with the office manager Kaitlyn to find out what was going on that my cat needed this medicine ASAP and the office manager never called me back. I had to call Kaitlyn (office manager) the following day on the 21st. Instead of Kaitlyn hearing me out she decided to be rude and cut me off when I talked and decided instead of rectifying the situation she said that she was going to print off my records so I could go elsewhere instead of fixing the problem after I have been coming there longer then she has been working there. The is poor customer service and poor problem management by a manager, own up to the mistake and fix it bottom line. This person should not be in managment she will lose my business and future businesses if she doesn't learn how to interact with customers.Update doctor/owner couldn't be bother to respond or explain meds that he blindly prescribe. If I could put zero stars I would. I just got my daughter a kitten. The kitten got caught in the recliner as my daughter was getting up. I thought the poor thing broke it's neck. I bring it to this awful place with my daughter in hysterics(obviously) and this poor kitten crying out in pain. They have me sit in the waiting area to then bring me a paper with the amount of a visit and xrays to be paid in full before the cat will be seen at all. I unfortunately had no money but had called my husband on the way there and right after work he would wire me the money being he is working out of state. Nope won't help the poor kitten. Then a man in the waiting room says how much is the bill. $187. He says I'll pay half of it right now cash if you'll see the kitten. Unbelievably they say no, they can't do it. Rules are rules who cares the extreme circumstances and the fact that half the bill would already be taken care of. Absolutely horrible. What a bad jab to the human race and what this society has become. Come on people it's called compassion. $$ is important but really. the goodness of mankind is really diminishing and this was a prime example. For me it was really eye opening and very sad. On a brighter note I babied the cat for 2 days giving her food and water through a medicine syringe took her to another clinic to make sure nothing was broken. The kitten prevailed. Let me preface this review with the statement that I do not normally write reviews about places I have been because everyone has different experiences and what I think may not adequately reflect. However, I have to say that if you are that afraid of animals, working as a vet tech is probably not the best job choice for your life. I did not catch the name of this lady, I was too busy picking my jaw up off the floor after she walked into the room holding two muzzles and demanded that my dogs be muzzled before she had even looked at them. Of course, I had witnessed her doing the exact same thing with every animal that came into the clinic, since I was waiting for over an hour. However I can understand that my dogs are on the large side and can be intimidating and I am willing to make accomodations. The last straw was when the vet walked in and pretty much threatened to punch me in the face. Excuse me? Yes, I understand you were trying to get your point across about why you thought the muzzles were necessary, your method was flawed. Long story short, I will not bring any animal back to this place regardless of how cheap their prices. I want my "family" to be treated by people who do not respond out of fear and genuinely care about their wellbeing. Read Less

Please do not take your dog here for grooming, my dog was tortured, all burn marks all over her body from clippers and sent home on antibiotics? Never had I ever experienced this before with any groomer. I complained to management and they told me to find not only another groomer but Vet. I had been going to this Vet office for 5 years, my other dog was on thyroid medication and needed monthly refills and they didn't even care. Most of the Vets that work here are decent but are employees only. The real owner, a vet by the name of Dr. Weirarther, owns 4 other clinics in Polk, unfortunately not in business for welfare of animals but his pocket. Plenty of other great Veterinarian clinics in the area, don't put your pet at risk! Read Less

Unfortunately, we had the same experience as K.H. at Kathleen Animal Hospital. It was our clinic and vet of choice. They had been so kind to me when I had my cat put down, but things changed ... and I was shocked at the lack of concern or care. One of our dogs had a problem with its eye and a visiting vet, first didn't want to see her because it was 1/2 hour before they closed, then told my daughter she would need a $1000 surgery and gave no pain medication. I called to set up an appointment with our normal vet, for a second opinion, and when my daughter called to follow up, the vet canceled the appointment and wouldn't even see her because one of their vets had already given their prognosis. Ended up going out of town for expert advice and dog is fine and did not need the surgery, but if she had, the out of town vet would have charged less than 1/2 the price. We have found a fabulous new clinic and vet, much further away (but it is worth it) and now both cats and dogs go there. I would like to say that the best part of Kathleen Animal Hospital were Gail and Sherry. They have always been wonderful and I am and will always be grateful for their competency and great customer service! It's too bad that things didn't work out, but the only 2 that even cared we were leaving was Gail and Sherry. The attitude of the vets and rest of the staff are going to destroy the good will that was once a part of Kathleen Animal Hospital. Read Less

My Lab recently went under surgery for his hip at this Kathleen animal hospital and i must say i was not impressed. This place was the only place open and i had no other options at the time as he was in desperate need of surgery. I payed over $1400 to get his surgery and TAKE HOME MEDS and i had to argue with the lady to get take home meds because they screwed up. They wouldn't honor it so i had to pay out of pocket once again for take home meds which they were suppose to include in price. After my dog had surgery they didn't even call me to give me an update or ANYTHING! i had to call. While my dog was being hospitalized their for 3 weeks he became skin and bones they claimed they were feeding him but i doubt they were. Any time i would call to check on him and see how his progress was it was a long drawn out ordeal cause no one knew what was going on.. When i went and picked him up to go home they didn't schedule a follow up visit remind you had major hip surgery, they said he will be fine. I will never use them again the staff is not friendly, doesn't care about the well being of the animals and they are way over priced. I would not trust my fur baby with them ever again. 11/4/16 Wow...What happen! is all I can say. We have been clients of this clinic since 2010 and have been very satisfied overall; except for the last two years. Things have changed. It is with much emotional regret and heart-break that we have decided to pull all three of our dogs, two of which have medical conditions, out from under the medical care of this facility because of lack of veterinary trust, rude staff, and an overall lack of compassion for our animals and us. Would no longer recommend this practice for animal care. Do not take our word for it, research this clinic and sister clinics (vet specialties). We are not the only long term clients to leave recently. Would like to thank. front Staff, Gail and Sherry, for their kindness through the years. K.H. Read Less

Dr. Stansberry has been just wonderful with my cats. you can tell he is an animal lover and truly cares about their well-being. The technicians and receptionist are also great. They are always super nice and very helpful. I had taken my cat to the emergency vet over the weekend where he spent 2 days on IV fluid, running a high fever and wouldn't eat or drink.  By Monday when I had to pick him up, he was still sick and running a high fever, I called Kathleen Animal hospital and they gave me a prescription to help reduce it. He was 100% better the next day and has kept his fever down every since. They are always do they're best to get your pet in to be seen as quickly as they possibly can. They take the time to answer questions over the phone without always having to bring my cat in. Read Less

Friday 10/18/13 I took my min. schnauzer to the vet because the cyst on his leg started swelling and looked about to break open. (On a previous visit the vet said that it was a fatty cyst and if it wasn't bothering him not to worry about it.) I requested that the vet remove the cyst. He refused and instead gave me a referal to an oncologyst because my sweet baby had cancer - he was completely certain in his diagnosis. My choices were; an oncologyst, amputation, put the dog down, do nothing until he dies. I was completely heartbroken. Sunday 10/20/13 Woke up to find that the "tumor" had broken open and was draining. I took Sam to the emergency vet (highly recommendParkway) and they cleaned the area, cut away some dead tissue and stitched up his leg. Instead of cancer, my dog had an abcessed cycst. I contacted Kathleen to let them know what had happened, and asked for 3 things; an apology, a review of the vet that diagnosed cancer and a refund of the money I spent on the 18th since I had to spend even more getting the cyst cleaned and stitched at the emergency vet. I got nothing - the explaination was "professional difference of opinion" take your fur babies to them at your own risk (and theirs) Read Less

For lack of good options I continue to take my dog to this clinic for vaccines. But other than that I don't take him there, prefer to travel all the way to another town. When he was a puppy he broke his leg, spent the whole day there with the dog in pain to finally find out the leg was broken and I had to transport him all the way to the south side of Lakeland because they didn't do operations. Then for a while their service got a little better, less wasting of my time. We left him a couple of times on their kennel. They said that they walked him 3 times/day and did his business outside but the minute we come back from vacation he left a big one in the middle of my living room which has tile, he acted as it was nothing. That tells me that the whole time they've been leaving him in the "suite" doing his business right there. That's why the camera that we were supposed to be able to access never worked in any of the countries we visited during a 10 day trip. We let that go and used their kennel one more time, and then it happened...at 3 years old the dog never had a flea in his life and he came eaten up by fleas and TICKS the 3rd time we left him at the kennel. NEVER AGAIN we used their kennel. Complained and they make ME! pay for the remedy. Read Less

So thanks for showing me how you care... have appointment Thursday got her at a new vet that won't charge me an arm and a leg.

Don't take the chance! Read Less

Read Less
