This is really hard for me to write but the Staff and Dr. Mike helped me so much the day I had to have my sweet girl laid to rest from Lymphoma. They explained everything to me and gave me time with her knowing how hard it was .They care about the patients and their owners. The staff was wonderful, but their policies are a little off. I took my dog there because our last vet always tried to up sale services. We prefer to utilize 1-800 PETMEDS, but Animal Hospital of Largo has a policy of charging $15.00 per scrip per year.(All prescriptions require a $15.00 annual fee per medication.) I never had to pay this fee with another vet and I'm not about to start.  There are over a dozen vets within a 3 mile radius of out location so we keep looking. Read Less

EVERYBODY who I've met at AH Largo is fantastic: the receptionists, assistants, etc.Dr. Mike is an extremely knowledgeable vet and he goes with conservative approaches first, doesn't try to get you to spend a lot of money on this and that. Dr. J is wonderful too. She was so kind in regard to final decisions about my kitty. The waiting area is a bit drab and cramped, but it's a wonderful, caring, friendly facility for your furry friends. Their fees are lower than some other vets too! They’ll spend as much time as you need to ensure they answer all of your questions, and best of all Dr J takes the time to spend personal time researching to better understand how to help your pet. We are snowbirds who didn’t have a vet here. Our dog has known environmental allergies and was really suffering with itching almost as soon as we got here. We researched the vets in the area and chose to come here. And we were so happy we did! Eric met us outside because our dog is reactive to other dogs. He was kind and helpful, and listened to all the symptoms. Dr. Mike came in and spent as much time with us and our dog as we needed. What a kind and knowledgeable guy! He was a great listener and gave us useful information, treatment options and suggestions for ongoing care at home. We decided on an allergy shot that will last 4-8 weeks. The shot was almost immediately effective and our dog is comfortable again. All the staff at the front were lovely. We highly recommend this clinic. Thank you! Read Less

This Vet Hospital is wonderful! Staff is so caring. Samantha, the receptionist, does her job to a (10) on accuracy, customer service and knowledge of this operation. Yesterday I called and needed to get my canine in for a paw issue he somehow scratched up pretty bad. Samantha squeezed us in for 10:20- BOOM!! All well w/my pet Harry nothing that a little topical solution couldn't fix. Point is, when you have pets they become your family. Just as family members you want the best in medical situations, no matter how big, or small. For you pets needs with caring hearts and fantastic customer service, look no further than here. Max got quick and efficient treatment.    The staff seems to love the animals they treat.   Max has made many visits to this practice and shows no fear or anxiety around the staff.   It is evident the staff treat the dog with kindness and  respect.  Max always comes in and leaves with his tail wagging.  If Max is happy, I am happy. Crazy afternoon chasing a tiny, scared stray dodging traffic on a busy road, I finally caught her, and her 5000 fleas. She and I both out of breath (we were both almost hit by cars, blowing horns, etc.) we jumped into my car and headed back to my office. After calling 7 nearby vets for help, and told 7 times they were too busy, the front desk team at Animal Hospital of Largo was kind and amazing. Took us right away, did an exam, bath, de-flea pill and I am thrilled to begin helping her recover and to find this little one's permanent home (if I can't find her previous). Read Less

I was impressed with the staff (Stephany) especially and her ability to adapt when changes had to be made re; my appointment. Was very impressed with Dr Mike who took the time to play with Roxy on the floor. and appreciate the method used to put my poor kitty, Misty, down by using gas instead of a needle to ease her death. Not only did they not check to be sure contact info was correct when arriving with a cat that lost blood somehow during the night, they all lie. I called when I noticed wrong phone number while waiting for the vet to call me. At 4:40 pm, I called talked to Samantha, gave her the correct number. She said the results were in but would not tell me results, saying the vet needed to talk to me. MORE PANIC. A panic stricken night!!! Then the next morning I get a call by an office worker who was able to tell me the results, NOT the vet and was told the vet did try to call me but got voice mail. This is a lie. Not only do I have call waiting AND an answering machine, there were 3 people here staring at the phone waiting for the call. There isn't voice mail, I have answering machine. There was NO call. So, Samantha couldn't tell me, the vet had to call me, yet the next morning, it wasn't the vet that called but an office worker. That's a great deal of BS. No trust. Bad vet. The staff was simply amazing. Charlie is fantastic and gave my new sweet pup all the love he could ever want. The girls up front were extremely kind and friendly and Mike gave me great info on my new puppy and was super as well. This hospital has been mine for many of my pets since 1993, they are all the most caring and supportive staff you can ever deal with.... (just like the friendliest people at Publix on Indian Rocks Rd Largo, fl)....this hospital is very accommodating and very reasonable with their prices, I live right next door to another veterinarian that I choose not to go to because the charges are too high...it would be VERY convenient for me to just walk my dogs right around the corner but I just cannot afford what this veterinarian charges...I have always loved & felt "Animal Hospital Of Largo" is my better choice for my four legged animals (children with fur) care wise price wise!!....They treat your animal as if it were their own....I love all of you for always being there for me no matter what type of situation I've had, and always fitting me in without an appt!.... :) Read Less

Piss poor they lost shot records up charge. Min $ 350 dental cleaning really come on its 45 mins of work at the most. To bad great care form the doctors, but the staff is horrible. I brought our cat Willie in for what I thought was his third uti in six months, but Dr. J diagnosed it as an overactive adrenal gland and the extra adrenaline causing the bladder lining to erode, which causes pain and the urge to urinate frequently. The fix is a special diet and I can already see good results. So happy for her attention to detail and great memory of Willie's prior history. Excellent vet and staff. Read Less

Most unsympathetic group of supposed to be caring people. I got an emergency call from New Jersey that my sister tried to kill herself and was needed in N.J. as soon as possible. I made the plane reservation and called the hospital and told them I needed my dogs medicine right away. They said come pick it up in 15 minutes. When I got there the uncaring receptionist told me the medicine was locked up and to take a seat. Yes I over reacted and tried to get the DR.S attention because the clock was ticking. So even after apologizing for my actions they refused to help my dog when she needed medicine and told me to find a new VET. This is a building, the people in there make the hospital a perfect and indescribable place where the communication and between themselves to deliver the right information with as much time needed to answer all your questions. My dog Louie has been a patient for years, he passed at our home yesterday...Doctor Mike and Amy were at our home to help him go and it could not have been more perfect, not even under the circumstances. If you want a building full of loving people, from answering the phone to trimming nails to even the most painful moment of letting go...you simply won't find it anywhere else. We moved from Tampa (Louie had previous vets) to Largo and found the hearts that make Animal Hospital of Largo...and our family knows they are a blessing to us. Read Less

Animal Hospital of Largo is more focused on making money than concern for the welfare of animals. The Animal Hospital of Largo has a large red illuminated sign at its office saying "we have Apoquel". (just not for you) My dog is under treatment for Atopic Dermatitis at another wonderful vet, who prescribed Apoquel. Apoquel has proven to be the *only* remedy. Apoquel is extremely hard to find anywhere in the U.S. due to supply issues and manufacturing issues.I noted the sign, and ask Animal Hospital of Largo to kindly refill our prescription. The receptionist told me.......Yes, we have it... but sorry, we only have enough for *our* clients.......Maybe transfer here to get his prescription filled... It is uncaring to bait us with the advertisement that you have the medication our pet needs to stop our beloved pet's suffering and then refuse the kindness to fill an existing prescription unless we switch vets. Should I switch vets again when the Animal Hospital of Largo supply of the medication we need runs out, too? I will not become a client of the Animal Hospital of Largo, and encourage others to avoid it. Read Less

Dr. Mike, Dr. J. and all of their staff have created a true multi-faceted hospital to take care of all of your pets' needs. We have 6 dogs, 2 parrots (a blue and gold and an amazon) and 5 cockatiels, and they have never ever failed us. We have been with Dr. Mike from the beginning, and he and his staff have always put the needs of our little (and some not so little) friends first - keeping all of our animals at the peak of health, and have extended the lives of some of our older animals by YEARS. There are no guarantees where life is concerned, but these people defy the odds. Dr. Mike is two things: a scientific genius, and the one of the most compassionate health professionals I have ever met. It is truly rare to see both of these traits rolled into one. Just ask my husband, a retired epidemiologist ... he knows. He not only uses state-of-the-art mainstream medicine, but also offers alternative medicine options when appropriate to increase the quality of life for a pet. He also expects the same state-of-the-art and compassionate care from all of his staff ... and they deliver. Not because they have to, but because it is their calling. The Largo Animal Hospital does a lot more than keep your pet alive and healthy. The 'quality of life' of your pet is just as important. They understand that our pets are not just animals, they are sentient species that are our best friends and companions. As far as access and costs are concerned: they will always fit you in for an emergency, and at a cost that won't break the bank. And if a procedure is more than you can immediately afford ... they will find a way. This used to be an amazing vet clinic. The actual vet loves animals and does right by your pets. However, he has a group of incoherent nasty women running his office. I have spent 8 hours today trying to get prescriptions for my dogs, and have been lied to 3 times. They waited until it was closing time to call me and tell me that although they had taken the money out of my bank account, they wouldn't be filling the scripts for my dogs. So now my dogs will suffer, and the money is gone out of my bank account so I can't even afford to take them to another clinic. When I got upset (as anyone would be), they threatened me with the police and laughed and said it's private property, and they can do what they want. It's a shame this vet allows these negligent women to make such choices for him. They will eventually be the decline of his business, and it is sad because he is an amazing vet! Read Less
