Loving Care Animal Hospital has been serving the greater Largo area's pet lovers for over twenty years. During that time, we have consistently been known for providing quality care and making it accessible to all families. Our mission is to help all pet owning families provide the loving care their pets deserve.
In 2009, Dr. Richard Dinon purchased Loving Care Animal Hospital, and has strived to keep these traditions alive, but at the same time elevating the level of service, medicine, and compassion to the highest possible. During this time, we have become a full-service veterinary hospital and have added innovations such as advanced anesthetic monitoring programs, microchipping, ultrasound, and wellness care to keep our patients safe, healthy, and happy. These, and many other great new changes have been made, all while holding on to the ideal that this compassionate standard of care should be available to every single one of our patients and pet owners.
At Loving Care Animal Hospital, we are also proud to say that since our beginnings, we have been the sole veterinary office of both the Pinellas County Sherriff's Office and Largo Police Department's K9 Officer Units. We continue to provide care to these vital officers so that they can safely and effectively keep our community free from crime and a great place to live. As a service to these heroes, we offer free lifetime care for retired K9 officers of all police agencies, and truly believe that this isn't nearly enough to thank these officers for their daily sacrifice. We urge all of our friends and clients to thank these heroes by donating to charities that support them.

If I could give a zero I would because this vet is terrible. My daughter was taking her rescue to this establishment and since she is on a budget she decided to check around for better prices on Trifexsis. Chewy was cheaper so she asks the office to send Chewy a prescription and they refused. They insisted their brand was better and reliable. They would not send her the prescription or her puppies records so she had to drive all the way over there to pick them up. This place is all about money so if your pockets are not deep steer clear.On another occasion, this yahoo doctor tried to give my dog all of these tests he didn't need and when I question him about it he acted like he was offended. He left the room and I got up and walked out. Being quite upset I walked out and told the administrator to the bill be for the office visit of $53. He did absolutely nothing but I am being charged $53 bucks. So you would have thought I stole something the way this doctor ran outside acting like a fool and making an ass of himself yelling "We don't mail out bills you have to pay now". I have spent thousands of dollars for both my dogs there at Loving Care so I can't really comprehend why this doctor was acting like this. I guess since his parking lot is always empty he needed that $53 bucks to make payroll for this week. Needless to say, it's the last $53 he will ever get from me, my family or my friends. So I will repeat from the post above this guy tries to get as much money as he can from you. So my advice is to check around before you pay this guy some outrageous amount for test your pet doesn't really need. News flash Loving Care, Vets are a dime a dozen around this area.

I visited this office with my sweet fur baby girl on Wednesday because she had stopped eating. They did blood work a fecal and an FIV test. FIV was negative and they told me they would have to wait until Friday for the rest of the results. The front office staff was very nice and understanding. I was planning on making this my permanent vet. Toucan was my first pet, I found her when she was 4 weeks old she was 2 when I brought her in. When the doctor came in he explained it was a dangerous situation, and she was probably anemic which is a symptom or a larger issue. He also told me that If cost was an issue that my other options included taking her to the spca where things are cheaper but the care is not as good, or taking her to a local spca and surrendering her. Then he threw around the word leukemia, pancrea-whatever and other scary words so fast and asked me if I had any questions, and I literally said "No?" I then told Him I will find the money for the tests, And he walked out. Not once did he mention taking her to Blue Pearl where they could process all of the tests in house. Even though he knew this was an emergency situation and Blue Pearl is their bleeping brochure (which I got after the tests were done.) When I left the nurse told me just to give her wet food. The whole reason I was there was because she wouldn't eat anything! They did not offer any fluids, did not offer any medication to get her appetite up, or any medication at all and they wanted me to wait 36 hrs to get results of a fecal test that can be developed in less than 30 mins. My point here is that you took my money and sat on it for 36 hours when you knew there was a possibility she wouldn't be alive to see the results. I have never been to a vet before and I really did not know how serious this was or just how quickly toucans health would decline. When she started to lose her ability to walk the next morning, I called the vet, three times, no answer. You cannot leave a message because "no one checks it." Here it is Thursday evening, I'm home from Blue Pearl where I had to put Toucan down. The doctor there assured me that even if they could save her her life would not have been full or long. Her illness had nothing to do with not being vaccinated. She was septic. Although I do not blame you for toucans illness or death. I was just wondering how you sleep a night doctor? You can tell me tomorrow with the results of her fecal/blood test. The reason I picked you guys in the first place was because your google review was so high, what percent of the money for those tests is used to pay people to write you a good review? Next time I'll use YELPIf you are a customer reading this please excuse my grief and look at the facts here. Take your pet somewhere else.

We were in search of a good veterinarian and our dog Jocko was in need of dental care. Recently they offered Dental discount month so we scheduled an appointment and were very pleasantly surprised. We really had no idea what was going on with our dog as he had a bulge and or bubble on his gum line. We actually thought it would cost a lot more. The staff and the doctor were very accommodating and friendly. They took care of Jocko's Dental needs in a short time for a fair price also Jocko does not get along with other dogs so well these days. They were very helpful getting us in and out without incident. They do very good work at a fair reasonable price and it's good to know there's honest people that you can count on to bring your pet to. Highly recommend. Thanks.

I love, Love, LOVE THIS VET!!! I have been involved in rescue for around 7 years now and I have to say this doctor is one of the best. For typical routine visits the fees are very reasonable, and believe me I know because I've been to veterinarians from Hudson down to Tampa. This doctor is one of the most ethical and caring people who also has a staff that go above and beyond what anyone would expect. I can't recommend them enough. If you love your pet take them here.

We switched to this vet over a year ago. We have four Chihuahuas and they are like our children, so if your like us its needless to say we have extremely high standards when it comes to their care. Dr. Dinon and his staff have met or exceeded those standards at every level. Knowledgeable when it comes to treating our children, the facility is comfortable and clean. If you are looking for a veterinarian and want one you can trust, I have my full faith that you will be satisfied with Dr. Dinon and his staff. Loving Care is an amazing facility and I am so happy we ended up choosing them after relocating to Florida. First off, the front desk staff are always friendly and professional, giving all their attention to the customer they are talking to at the time. I've often had visits where the staff were quite busy and never have they made me feel brushed off to the side.
The staff also does a wonderful job coordinating information about their patients. At other vets, I would have to repeat the reason for our visit to two or three different people, which can be exhausting. Not so at Loving Care. Often I only informed the front desk of why we're here, and the vet tech would come in, already aware of the situation. She asks a few follow up questions, and then pass that on to the vet so he too already knows my concerns and can begin to address them. It's really refreshing to see a office communicate so well.
Also, I feel the office communicates to me when certain procedures are beneficial but not vital, and I feel comfortable asking for pricing information to make an informed decision. Too often in the past I have felt pressured to opt into procedures that were not necessary, without knowing how much it would cost (and feeling judged for asking.) Veterinary care is expensive and Loving Care has always respected decisions I made about non-vital expenses. I trust their opinion of what is crucial for the well-being of my cat and what is useful if you can afford it.
Long story short, your team really makes me feel confident in my cat's care and I wouldn't take him to anyone else.

After relocating from Colorado and having to leave a vet I loved there, I am so happy to have found this practice. We were helped quickly after arriving, and Dr. Dinon and his staff were great with our dog. We have a pretty low maintenance dog, and they were happy to listen to and address even our most minor concerns. Highly recommend!

This vet and his staff are the best, most compassionate vet and people you will ever meet. Even though our Emory died? They were the MOST compassionate people to my daughter and I as we said farewell to our beloved kitty. I transfered the care of my pets to Loving Care because my normal vet that I've used for two years for my dog? Was rude to my daughter in her time of need when it came to Emory. Loving Care took the time to MAKE the time available to rush Emory in in an emergency that day! They didn't hang up on my daughter like my normal vet did saying that they didn't have the time. I won't mention the other vet's name that I was using before? But I did make a phone call to her office and told her she was fired! Loving Care when it comes to compassion towards the animals far surpassed my expectations. Even though our Emory passed on? I will still continue to go back to them for my dog and other cats from now on. Their compassion is heartfelt. My daughter thanks them so much for that in her time of grieving. I am so happy with the experience I recently had at Loving Care Animal Hospital. Previously, I took my fur-babies to another vet, out of sheer convenience (it was literally a minute from my house). However, every time I went there it was a struggle, for several reasons. So, in search of a new veterinarian, I was referred to Dr. Richard. I am sooo glad I decided to make that appointment! Dr. Richard and his staff are friendly, kind, and knowledgable. My dogs have always acted scared and ready to dash out the door at the previous vet; not at Loving Care Animal Hospital... here they were happy and at ease the whole time, thanks to the amazing staff! I would highly recommend this animal hospital to anyone! Did I mention how clean and professional the waiting room and patient spaces are?! Thank you, Dr. Richard, you have a life-long customer!

Dr. Richard and the entire staff are angels. We arrived, without an appointment, as new clients, after our regular vet (who we had been going to for years) couldn't take us. Loving Care welcomed up with open arms, warmly, kindly, and utterly competently. Dr. Richard clearly knows his stuff and explained everything to us without talking down to us. He then later followed up by phone - himself! to give us the test results and ask about our dog. This is our new vet and our new hospital.

Actually, the animal hospital has been in existence for closer to 35 years. We started taking our pets there in 1985 when the late Dr. Jimm Whitcomb owned it & had already been in practice there for several years. He then sold it to his friend, Dr. Paul Evile, who subsequently retired & sold the practice to Dr. Richard. All three if those Vets provided excellent pet care.

When Dr. Paul retired and Dr. Dinion took over the practice I stayed on as a client for convenience. The front office and techs are so caring and I enjoyed the close proximity to my home. Having 4 animals I have spent many visits since and had always had a uncomfortable feeling about the Dr. I don't trust anyone who closes their eyes and looks away when speaking. This feeling has proved itself correct and I am not in the process of leaving his practice. His insisted I bring my cat in for a Urine check (for a separate issue) when she was having a Asthma attack and refused to provide me with more medicine until I did so. Placing my cat in danger for a separate issue was the last straw.

Loving Care Animal Hospital is the best! Happy (our Papillon) has been cared for at Loving Care since we adopted him from the SPCA Tampa Bay over seven years ago.
The personnel and Dr Richard really care about the animals they treat and they practice preventive veterinary medicine. It's much simpler to prevent a disease process than to cure it. We were referred to Loving Care by a friend and neighbor who has brought all of her animals there for many years. Our animals have been cared for competently and kindly.

4 years ago, I had to move out to Apollo Beach area for work & I make that over an hour drive every year for his yearly appointment. To me, it's worth it. To know my baby is in good hands.
Yes, over the years some of the staff has changed, but everyone that I've ever met has been kind, knowledgeable, compassionate, & sincere. From the moment you walk in the door to the time you leave the building, they all make you & your furry baby feel comfortable in knowing you are being taken care of in the best way.

We have been taking our pets to Loving Care Animal Hospital since we moved here from NY in 1985. The care our pets have received from first, Dr. Jimm, then Dr. Paul and now Dr. Richard has been superb. Dr. Richard has really brought the practice up to date with all the modern technology. Our pets have truly received "loving care" from Dr. Richard Dinon and his staff, who have shown great compassion during the times that we have had to send our beloved fur-babies to Rainbow Bridge.

Loving Care Animal Hospital has always treated my fur babies like family. Your compassion, care and knowledge is why I will drive the distance regardless of where I live. You have watched over all my babies and provided me the guidance I have needed to make sound decisions. I know that everyone that works at the Animal Hospital truly cares and loves animals and there is no doubt in my mind they have the best interest of the my pets when I bring them in for a check up. If I could give a zero I would because this vet is terrible. My daughter was taking her rescue to this establishment and since she is on a budget she decided to check around for better prices on Trifexsis. Chewy was cheaper so she asks the office to send Chewy a prescription and they refused. They insisted their brand was better and reliable. They would not send her the prescription or her puppies records so she had to drive all the way over there to pick them up. This place is all about money so if your pockets are not deep steer clear.On another occasion, this yahoo doctor tried to give my dog all of these tests he didn't need and when I question him about it he acted like he was offended. He left the room and I got up and walked out. Being quite upset I walked out and told the administrator to the bill be for the office visit of $53. He did absolutely nothing but I am being charged $53 bucks. So you would have thought I stole something the way this doctor ran outside acting like a fool and making an ass of himself yelling "We don't mail out bills you have to pay now". I have spent thousands of dollars for both my dogs there at Loving Care so I can't really comprehend why this doctor was acting like this. I guess since his parking lot is always empty he needed that $53 bucks to make payroll for this week. Needless to say, it's the last $53 he will ever get from me, my family or my friends. So I will repeat from the post above this guy tries to get as much money as he can from you. So my advice is to check around before you pay this guy some outrageous amount for test your pet doesn't really need. News flash Loving Care, Vets are a dime a dozen around this area.

I visited this office with my sweet fur baby girl on Wednesday because she had stopped eating. They did blood work a fecal and an FIV test. FIV was negative and they told me they would have to wait until Friday for the rest of the results. The front office staff was very nice and understanding. I was planning on making this my permanent vet. Toucan was my first pet, I found her when she was 4 weeks old she was 2 when I brought her in. When the doctor came in he explained it was a dangerous situation, and she was probably anemic which is a symptom or a larger issue. He also told me that If cost was an issue that my other options included taking her to the spca where things are cheaper but the care is not as good, or taking her to a local spca and surrendering her. Then he threw around the word leukemia, pancrea-whatever and other scary words so fast and asked me if I had any questions, and I literally said "No?" I then told Him I will find the money for the tests, And he walked out. Not once did he mention taking her to Blue Pearl where they could process all of the tests in house. Even though he knew this was an emergency situation and Blue Pearl is their bleeping brochure (which I got after the tests were done.) When I left the nurse told me just to give her wet food. The whole reason I was there was because she wouldn't eat anything! They did not offer any fluids, did not offer any medication to get her appetite up, or any medication at all and they wanted me to wait 36 hrs to get results of a fecal test that can be developed in less than 30 mins. My point here is that you took my money and sat on it for 36 hours when you knew there was a possibility she wouldn't be alive to see the results. I have never been to a vet before and I really did not know how serious this was or just how quickly toucans health would decline. When she started to lose her ability to walk the next morning, I called the vet, three times, no answer. You cannot leave a message because "no one checks it." Here it is Thursday evening, I'm home from Blue Pearl where I had to put Toucan down. The doctor there assured me that even if they could save her her life would not have been full or long. Her illness had nothing to do with not being vaccinated. She was septic. Although I do not blame you for toucans illness or death. I was just wondering how you sleep a night doctor? You can tell me tomorrow with the results of her fecal/blood test. The reason I picked you guys in the first place was because your google review was so high, what percent of the money for those tests is used to pay people to write you a good review? Next time I'll use YELPIf you are a customer reading this please excuse my grief and look at the facts here. Take your pet somewhere else.

We were in search of a good veterinarian and our dog Jocko was in need of dental care. Recently they offered Dental discount month so we scheduled an appointment and were very pleasantly surprised. We really had no idea what was going on with our dog as he had a bulge and or bubble on his gum line. We actually thought it would cost a lot more. The staff and the doctor were very accommodating and friendly. They took care of Jocko's Dental needs in a short time for a fair price also Jocko does not get along with other dogs so well these days. They were very helpful getting us in and out without incident. They do very good work at a fair reasonable price and it's good to know there's honest people that you can count on to bring your pet to. Highly recommend. Thanks.

I love, Love, LOVE THIS VET!!! I have been involved in rescue for around 7 years now and I have to say this doctor is one of the best. For typical routine visits the fees are very reasonable, and believe me I know because I've been to veterinarians from Hudson down to Tampa. This doctor is one of the most ethical and caring people who also has a staff that go above and beyond what anyone would expect. I can't recommend them enough. If you love your pet take them here.

We switched to this vet over a year ago. We have four Chihuahuas and they are like our children, so if your like us its needless to say we have extremely high standards when it comes to their care. Dr. Dinon and his staff have met or exceeded those standards at every level. Knowledgeable when it comes to treating our children, the facility is comfortable and clean. Loving Care is an amazing facility and I am so happy we ended up choosing them after relocating to Florida. First off, the front desk staff are always friendly and professional, giving all their attention to the customer they are talking to at the time. I've often had visits where the staff were quite busy and never have they made me feel brushed off to the side.
The staff also does a wonderful job coordinating information about their patients. At other vets, I would have to repeat the reason for our visit to two or three different people, which can be exhausting. Not so at Loving Care. Often I only informed the front desk of why we're here, and the vet tech would come in, already aware of the situation. She asks a few follow up questions, and then pass that on to the vet so he too already knows my concerns and can begin to address them. It's really refreshing to see a office communicate so well.
Also, I feel the office communicates to me when certain procedures are beneficial but not vital, and I feel comfortable asking for pricing information to make an informed decision. Too often in the past I have felt pressured to opt into procedures that were not necessary, without knowing how much it would cost (and feeling judged for asking.) Veterinary care is expensive and Loving Care has always respected decisions I made about non-vital expenses. I trust their opinion of what is crucial for the well-being of my cat and what is useful if you can afford it.
Long story short, your team really makes me feel confident in my cat's care and I wouldn't take him to anyone else.

After relocating from Colorado and having to leave a vet I loved there, I am so happy to have found this practice. We were helped quickly after arriving, and Dr. Dinon and his staff were great with our dog. We have a pretty low maintenance dog, and they were happy to listen to and address even our most minor concerns. Highly recommend!

This vet and his staff are the best, most compassionate vet and people you will ever meet. Even though our Emory died? They were the MOST compassionate people to my daughter and I as we said farewell to our beloved kitty. I transfered the care of my pets to Loving Care because my normal vet that I've used for two years for my dog? Was rude to my daughter in her time of need when it came to Emory. Loving Care took the time to MAKE the time available to rush Emory in in an emergency that day! They didn't hang up on my daughter like my normal vet did saying that they didn't have the time. I won't mention the other vet's name that I was using before? But I did make a phone call to her office and told her she was fired! Loving Care when it comes to compassion towards the animals far surpassed my expectations. Even though our Emory passed on? I will still continue to go back to them for my dog and other cats from now on. Their compassion is heartfelt. My daughter thanks them so much for that in her time of grieving. I am so happy with the experience I recently had at Loving Care Animal Hospital. Previously, I took my fur-babies to another vet, out of sheer convenience (it was literally a minute from my house). However, every time I went there it was a struggle, for several reasons. So, in search of a new veterinarian, I was referred to Dr. Richard. I am sooo glad I decided to make that appointment! Dr. Richard and his staff are friendly, kind, and knowledgable. My dogs have always acted scared and ready to dash out the door at the previous vet; not at Loving Care Animal Hospital... here they were happy and at ease the whole time, thanks to the amazing staff! I would highly recommend this animal hospital to anyone! Did I mention how clean and professional the waiting room and patient spaces are?! Thank you, Dr. Richard, you have a life-long customer!

Dr. Richard and the entire staff are angels. We arrived, without an appointment, as new clients, after our regular vet (who we had been going to for years) couldn't take us. Loving Care welcomed up with open arms, warmly, kindly, and utterly competently. Dr. Richard clearly knows his stuff and explained everything to us without talking down to us. He then later followed up by phone - himself! to give us the test results and ask about our dog. This is our new vet and our new hospital.

Actually, the animal hospital has been in existence for closer to 35 years. We started taking our pets there in 1985 when the late Dr. Jimm Whitcomb owned it & had already been in practice there for several years. He then sold it to his friend, Dr. Paul Evile, who subsequently retired & sold the practice to Dr. Richard. All three if those Vets provided excellent pet care.

When Dr. Paul retired and Dr. Dinion took over the practice I stayed on as a client for convenience. The front office and techs are so caring and I enjoyed the close proximity to my home. Having 4 animals I have spent many visits since and had always had a uncomfortable feeling about the Dr. I don't trust anyone who closes their eyes and looks away when speaking. This feeling has proved itself correct and I am not in the process of leaving his practice. His insisted I bring my cat in for a Urine check (for a separate issue) when she was having a Asthma attack and refused to provide me with more medicine until I did so. Placing my cat in danger for a separate issue was the last straw.

The personnel and Dr Richard really care about the animals they treat and they practice preventive veterinary medicine. It's much simpler to prevent a disease process than to cure it. We were referred to Loving Care by a friend and neighbor who has brought all of her animals there for many years. Our animals have been cared for competently and kindly.

4 years ago, I had to move out to Apollo Beach area for work & I make that over an hour drive every year for his yearly appointment. To me, it's worth it. To know my baby is in good hands.
Yes, over the years some of the staff has changed, but everyone that I've ever met has been kind, knowledgeable, compassionate, & sincere. From the moment you walk in the door to the time you leave the building, they all make you & your furry baby feel comfortable in knowing you are being taken care of in the best way.

We have been taking our pets to Loving Care Animal Hospital since we moved here from NY in 1985. The care our pets have received from first, Dr. Jimm, then Dr. Paul and now Dr. Richard has been superb. Dr. Richard has really brought the practice up to date with all the modern technology. Our pets have truly received "loving care" from Dr. Richard Dinon and his staff, who have shown great compassion during the times that we have had to send our beloved fur-babies to Rainbow Bridge.

After not so great experiences with other local vets I am so glad Reese and I found Loving Care. The staff was so friendly and attentive and didn't mind the normal puppy behavior. The price wasn't bad either and glad they tried to save us money where they could. We will definitely be making this Reese's lifetime vet. Thank you all so much for a great experience.

We are a long time returning customer of The Loving Care Animal Hospital. They had cared for my previous dog, Diamond, and our newest addition, Piper! Piper loved the people at the hospital and they treated the animals very well. Loving Care Animal Hospital has always treated my fur babies like family. Your compassion, care and knowledge is why I will drive the distance regardless of where I live. You have watched over all my babies and provided me the guidance I have needed to make sound decisions. I know that everyone that works at the Animal Hospital truly cares and loves animals and there is no doubt in my mind they have the best interest of the my pets when I bring them in for a check up. Thank you for all you do!
