They deserve a  -1 star.  I took my sisters dog this afternoon and from the start they were extremely rude. Telling me to go outside because they don't know if she is contagious or not. the title in there business is called Cypress Creek "Animal Hospital".  Don't call yourself a hospital if you don't have a protocol for emergencies. Personally I thought it was a front  business for something else, that is how bad they made the experience for me. The tech couldn't draw blood right, most likely hurting my sisters dog in the process. They had the nerve to over charge for services that weren't properly handled correctly. I have been taking my pets and some strays to Cypress Creek since about the time they opened.  If I remember correctly, the early 90's.  Over the years, I have been to other animal hospitals or tried to make appointments and their service, care, and compassion doesn't come close to matching Cypress Creek.  The one exception is their after hours partner, Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Service.  The staff recognize me and my family members usually by sight when we walk in the door and by our names.  In '09, my beloved cat Slash got very sick within a couple of days.  I called while the doctor was on lunch break and the office was fully booked for the day.  I was asked what was going on.  I was put on hold for a short time and then told to bring Slash in right away.  When I got to Cypress Creek, he was immediately seen by the doctor, who held him close to her and she pet him and comforted him so lovingly, it really struck me and I will never forget.  She and the staff quickly had him tested.  He had incredibly aggressive leukemia, unlike what the doctor had seen before.  She knew instantly something was very wrong when I called and she cut her lunch break short to see him.  She guessed he might have a week or two and did offer the ability to do chemo, but he was beyond help.  He was given pain medication.  I was in tears when I left.  He didn't make it through the night.  The doctor and staff were very sympathetic.  I received a card from the doctor in the mail days later.  Our beloved Simon the cat's immune system started to slowly break down about 4 years ago because he was older.  He was tough, strong, stubborn, ornery, and very cuddly and loving.  He became a bit famous at the hospital.  We were told he was quite "interesting".  He would be cranky towards a staff member and then later want to be pet and cuddled by the same person.  He was catching colds but quickly recovered with antibiotics and sometimes needed oxygen therapy at the hospital.  He began going downhill last month, just a couple of weeks ago.  Dr. Amy Wilson saw him, and she's wonderful.  She was advising us on everything.  She took into consideration Simon's personality and said we should let him live for as long as he wants to.  He was seen by Dr. Nadia McLean and the tech Page 5 days later.  They were both great.  Kendra, who I believe is a tech and office manager, has been working there for a decade or longer, is absolutely wonderful and will take great care of you and your pets.  Dr. Wilson was with us and was in touch with us as Simon took a very sudden turn for the worse.  An appointment was made for our beloved Simon to be put to rest as they say at Cypress Creek and Dr. Wilson was going to be there.  But it wasn't necessary.  Simon passed away at home, surrounded by his humans and his feline family, on his own terms just as he wanted it, very quickly and most likely without pain.  I give lots of credit to the doctors and staff for not only being there, but for the attention and guidance.  The hospital uses a great service for cremation or burial.  They're really quick and compassionate. The best way for me to review/explain this animal hospital is just to copy and paste the letter that I wrote to the veterinarian that treated my beloved pet who passed away on Memorial Day 2018. **************PLEASE READ THIS AND PASS IT ON!***************It's been two years since you diagnosed Pumpkin-head with renal failure.Over the course of his life I literally spent thousands of dollars at Cypress Creek Animal Hospital. After Pumpkin passed on Memorial Day, I sent your office an email message to inform you. A day or two later, I stopped by and donated well over $70.00 worth of left over medical supplies.The female employee of yours that you delegated to call me on Pumpkin's first bloodwork never once told me to bring Pumpkin back in for more bloodwork in two weeks or even six weeks. Can I blame her? No, her boss should have known better than to delegate such vital information to an incompetent employee. What she said on my home-phone answering service was and I quote: "Except for one protein that was slightly higher than the normal range, which could have been caused by a high protein meal, Pumpkin-head's bloodwork look normal." This message is still on my answering machine.About an hour and a half or so before I brought him in that day, the two of us shared a can of Tuna. You, Dr. Whitten, drop the ball when you delegated something this vitally important to an incompetent employee which I am sure you never took action against.When I initially brought my beloved buddy to you, I told you that I thought he was diabetic because he was drinking a pint to a pint and a half of water a day. That's like you drinking 10--15 gallon of water a day. Within in a few minutes, you ruled out diabetes. What I would like to know is why you did not immediately rule in possible kidney failure? According to three other vet's that I have spoken to, even though you were not sure it was kidney failure, you should have put him on the kidney friendly diet immediately and rechecked his bloodwork in 2 weeks. At that time, a correct diagnosis or even just the kidney friendly diet would have saved most of his kidneys, extended his life greatly; and it would have saved me thousands of dollars.Since Pumpkin's diagnosis, I have spoken to 3 other veterinarians (2 while he was under your care and another one yesterday). The only information that I gave any of them was Pumpkin's excessive water drinking. Without looking at him, all three veterinarians immediately came back with diabetes or kidney failure. One of them added possible liver problems to this very short list of possible diagnoses. When I told them that I had already ruled out diabetes, kidney failure was the unanimous diagnose. When I type this same symptom into any Internet search engine, it always comes back with only two possibilities--diabetes or kidney failure.How in the hell did you miss this? Or did you? Why didn't you put him on a kidney friendly diet then? As far as I am concerned, you killed my best friend by delegating your job to an incompetent employee and waiting until Pumpkin-head was half dead to change his diagnosis and diet. If you would have recommended a diet change when we first came in, it would have saved most of his kidneys. I guess you know that if Pumpkin had been human, I would own you for your sloppy work! If Florida pet laws were different, I would have you in court tomorrow.In closing, I wanted to tell you that I will be posting Cypress Creek Animal Hospital reviews online everywhere possible.  I will tell everyone that I possible can about how your carelessness cost my beloved pet his life while you milked me for thousands of dollars. I will state that after thousands of dollars spent at C.C.A.H, none of you had the common courtesy to even send out a sympathy card because it would affect your bottom-line. I will state how you charged me $18.00 for one pill that I later bought online for $1.10; and when I confronted you about it, you looked me dead in the eye and told me that you were expensive. I will tell them how pets' lives mean nothing when it comes to your bottom-line. I will let them know that I have paperwork from your office, receipts from veterinarian supply stores, a recorded phone message, and other veterinarians' opinions to prove that everything that I state is true.I hope this letter makes your day as enjoyable as my Memorial Day.Rick Meredith Read Less

Cypress Creek is just a perfect example of what a vets office should be. Heck my doctor could take some pointer from this office. They truly care and make you feel important from the moment you step into or out of the building. Dr follow up is right on. Should have posted this years ago. First four years ago, mis-diagnosed my cat with urinary track infection. Then gave him two catheters. Well $1,200 later still not a clear track so I brought him to Blue Pearl. Within hours had him diagnosed as needing surgery for debris buildup in his stomach and had a new urinary track created because his natural one was unable to be cleared. Today I call to get his prescription renewed for the special food he needs to eat and was told would have to be seen. Then the doctor changed her mind and said if I buy the food there she can write it. When I accused her of trying to make money off me she said it's the law that she has to see my cat if it's more than a year. Wait a minute she just said she would write it if I bought the food there. I brought my puppy in for occasional limping. I was not presented with an estimate before x-rays being taken. When I asked how much it would cost I was told they weren't sure. Dr. McLean diagnosed my puppy with a broken leg and initially wasn't going to do anything but send us home. I was concerned that she would break it again so the vet put a splint on her leg. I was told I had to pay extra to send the x-rays to a radiologist and in a few days the report came in that she had a broken wrist and it wasn't healing as fast as it should for a puppy so she needed surgery. Dr. McLean referred me to a specialist and explained to me in great detail that the surgery would involve taking bone marrow from her healthy leg to be put in the broken leg along with a metal bar. At this time I requested that she do another x-ray to determine if any healing had occurred in the splint but she said absolutely not. Ultimately the specialist took more x-rays and determined that her leg wasn't broken and had never been broken. Several days later the radiology report verified this information. Everyone makes mistakes but it's important to acknowledge them and correct them. I requested a refund and was very rudely denied. Cypress Creek Animal Hospital is one of the most expensive Veterinarians in Pasco county but don't be fooled because more money does not mean better care. Dr. McLean is very cold and has a horrendous bedside manner. My opinion is that she's only in this profession for the money, not because she is an animal lover. Read Less

We have used Cypress Creek ever since we moved here 12 years ago. We have recommended them many times. Their staff is amazing, they make us feel like they love our babies as much as we do. Dr Wilson is amazingly kind, friendly and professional and knowledgeable. I would never take my baby to any other vet. Read Less

The customer service here is terrible. My dog managed to get ahold of and eat an entire bottle of hip and joint supplements (90 chews). I called poison control and followed the first few steps then needed to get her to the vet immediately. My vet is a 40 minute drive so I called this place, as it's right by my house, to get info on what it would cost and give them a heads up that I needed to come in since I'm not established there. I explained the situation to Rachel and she proceeded to tell me they were booked solid and didn't have the time to invest in me and my dog today. So needless to say I chanced it and drove the 40 minutes to my vet to ensure she would receive prompt attention, since this was a triage/emergency situation. Thanks for nothing Cypress Creek. I recently moved into the area and I was quite concerned about finding a new vet. I am unbelievably thankful that I decided to go here. They treated my baby incredibly well, worked hard to make sure that everything was clear and concise, and got me in and out in a timely manner. Everyone I bumped into was happy and their pets looked happy too. As a bonus I decided to invest in their "free shots plan" which is 125 up front but includes all basic shots for my pooch. Find another veterinarian.. Not very knowledgeable, and lack alternative treatments. I brought my 9 year old Jack Russell in with a skin ailment. I explained, in detail, that I had concerns with the medicines that are predominately used for heart worms & fleas these days, and was seeking alternative treatments. My concerns are based off industry knowledge of specific active ingredients being used in medicines. These medicines are being put on the market without, extensive, long term, research. First, I was challenged by the nurse and the doctor that the current medicines were safe and had caused no harm to animals. Specifically, the drug "Trifexis", which is all the Head Vet, Marcus Ressler, was wanting to give my dog. All I can say,,, is do your research on Trifexis,,,, very alarming information out there.... Bottom line,,, find a more seasoned vet.. Cypress Creek, seems more concerned about pushing a product, then finding the best treatments for you animal. Read Less

Highly recommend Cypress Creek Animal Hospital. Dr. Whitten and Rachel were awesome with Dallas. They understood that not every dog is a wild friendly dog and understood that Dallas needed a little time warming up to new people. They got on her level and let her come to them, which made her feel a lot more as ease! Dr. Whitten went above and beyond telling me about the things to watch out for in Florida since we moved here from out of state. I will definitely be coming back here as long as I am in the area! We recently moved to the area and luckily moved into a home right down the road from the clinic. I had to take my dog there and they were great! The receptionist was courteous, not extremely friendly, but courteous. The doctor and nurse though, were amazing! They were very understanding of our financial restrictions and even made recommendations for products that were less expensive. The next day the doctor even called to check on her! I have gone to a few vets since I have gotten Mocha. This place has been the most impressive. Mocha was limping, and I called this vet because of recommendations from people where I live. I wanted a vet with a warm heart, someone who seemed genuine, detail oriented, and took time for my puppy, as well as my questions that I had.I called here, and the dr actually answered the phone. When does that ever happen. I let him know what was going on, and we were able to get an appt right away.Once we got there, the first person we met was very nice and helpful.  Our 2nd person Erin, you can tell she loved animals and made sure that Mocha was comfortable, as well as listened to my concern.Once Dr. Thivierge came in, he made sure to take his time with Mocha. Make sure that he was okay, and let me know the appropriate plan of action which was perfect.I really was happy with the experience here, and I felt that Mocha was too. He is usually hiding behind me if he doesn't like something.I would recommend others to check this vet out, and see for yourself. Read Less

i love cypress creek as both a vet and a boarding place. they are animal oriented, and i never get the impression that my dog has been mistreated or ignored in any way when she stays with them. the staff can be a little thick sometimes, taking a while to get to you, or not fully paying attention when you are trying to talk to them, but they are always friendly (most of them anyway) and i feel like their priority is my animal and not my sensibilities, which is just fine with me. my dog is almost three, and has been with them from the start. she never has a problem going with the techs there, and seems happy when we get her back. all in all, staff quirks aside, i love this place, and would reccommend it to anyone.
