Stay away. I didn't ever end up taking my dog here because they were so rude and unprofessional on the phone. I tried calling about 10 times before anyone finally picked up the phone. I had also emailed on their website, but never heard back. When I finally did reach someone on the phone, she Refused to book me an appointment saying "we are just too busy to make appointments for new clients but you can drop in at anytime"... what?! Then she said again that she was "too busy" to talk right now and asked to call me back within an hour. That was 4 days ago. I've been bringing my dog here for about three years now to get a dental cleaning, blood work and I must say the doctor always does a exceptional job the staff is so sweet and caring they are very affordable than most other vets. most importantly they take care of your pet!! The pet house clinic Oscar Paez , Alexandra Valencia, Eliza and their dedicated staff have proven to provide oustanding service to my pets through out the years. They have treated my pets like family, providing an inviting welcoming environment. Their love for animals is very geniune, which earned my trust. They have proven to provide more accurate diagnosis on my pets, in comparison to other clinics. I'm thankful that Dr. Paez and his staff suggested alternative laser theraphy on my Coco, which had a badly hurt vertabrea instead of open surgery. It worked , and he is doing very well. My recent rescued cat Tony was diagnosed with a very severe diphragmatic hernia. I really like Dr. Castro and have been taking my rescues to him for years. Knowledgable, thorough and everybody at the clinic is very attentive and helpful. Dr. Castro is especially great in surgery and I will never forget the amazing amputation of a kitten's hind limb or the extraction of a dog's mango seed from his intestine (I got to watch the surgery - yay - as I'm a rescuer and this was one of my rescued dogs). I know surgery is Dr. Castro's passion and I do believe he will work with anyone who has a pet that needs surgery. vet was more interested in making money than efficiently diagnosing my dog. took him to another vet after being overcharged by ALOT and the other vet recognized and solved the issue without trying to charge me a fortune doing every test possible. This vet tried to charge me 300% more for the same medicine than this other vet. Very disappointed that I wasted my money here, there are many good vets in miami that I guess dont have high overhead costs that are passed on to the customers. This vets responses to her criticism google is pathetic, nobody would leave a negative review for no reason why would you say they aren't registered as a patient smh. My husband and I absolutely love this place!! We brought our 10 year old chihuahua yorkie mix here and they were able to assess his health and provide us with immediate xrays to determine why he was having breathing issues. My pets and I have been patients at the Pet House Clinic since the doors first opened. They have always been amazing. Not just good vets, but above and beyond in diligence, keeping up to date on conventional and "alternative" (i.e., non-western) medical advances and maintaining an amazing level of compassion. When my dog Rosie got poisoned shortly before Hurricane Irma, the Pet House Clinic never failed to call (even without power) and help me and my pet when we had evacuated. Now, she is still being treated, but the progress she's made has been amazing to everyone. Proof to me? Pet House is our vet of choice that we bring our rescue pups to. Also, our volunteers in the Miami area use Pethouse for their personal pets. Pethouse staff, go over and beyond the call of duty to make every rescue pet we bring there, comfortable, happy and healthy! Alex, Elisa, Umberto, Dr. Oscar, And Maxine(volunteer), do more that called for at a vets office. Just recently just after hurricane Irma, our volunteer was in distress with her several dogs. Pethouse regained power and the staff went there to meet our volunteer to bring her dogs to safety and air and treat them, and boarded. They did not have to go back at 10:30pm to do this. This is the quality and care the staff and owners of Pethouse give! Elisa and Maxine took home 2 of our dogs during the hurricane. They did not have to do this. I just picked up my dog Nico today from dental surgery. He had terrible teeth needed extractions. The staff is so loving and professional. They called me and sent me videos of my dog in surgery to show me how many extractions he needed, which was 5. I gave the ok and picked up my baby and he is doing great. I looked on google to find a vet that was open Saturday since my dog was limping and I didn't want to wait to get X-rays. They took X-rays and my dog had shattered his knee and needed surgery. My dog Marley also had a breathing problem and Dr Oscar figured out what was wrong with him. Dr. Oscar was so friendly and found something that no other vet thought of as the reason for my dogs snorting and breathing problem. They did a double surgery and my dog is healing really well. The people of The Pet House saved my dog's life. Many times. He was a rescue and was being boarded there, and then went home to a foster family. The dog got into something (I'm assuming one of those poisonous frogs) and was rushed to The Pet House in the middle of the night having seizures and extremely high fevers. They stayed with him all night and saved his life. He was boarded there by the rescue for months and received so much love and attention. He has had several surgeries done at The Pet House by Dr. Oscar, and Dr Oscar gave him his sight and hearing and ability to walk back after being born with severe birth defects and being neglected for so long. When my dog got bit by another dog after hours, they met me at the clinic and immediately cared for his wound and stitched him up, reducing the risk of infection by being able to treat it so quickly. Knowing my vet is available 24/7 if needed for emergency makes me feel so much better. i don't have to bring my pets to a strange emergency clinic that charges $300 just to walk in the door and has no idea who my pets are or what their history is. The amount of love and care given to my dog by Alex, Elisa, Remberto, and Dr. Oscar could never be appreciated or thanked for enough. They're family to us now because of all of the time I have spent there with my special needs rescue. I have seen the ins and outs of the place and been throughout the office and it is always so clean and so well kept. All of the animals get so much love when they have to stay there overnight. I have had pets for my whole life and have never had a vet's office where everyone was so genuine, loving, and caring to both me and my dog. I really can't say enough amazing things about this place and the people that work there. Highly recommend not to go, they don't have any kind of treatment packages just want to get all the money they can from you. I used to go to another vet in the  neighborhood but my dog Bobby got an eye infection and my vet was on holiday. Friendly staff but slightly disorganized with the Vet being a bit hasty and not very clear on what he is doing to your pet. The staff is extremely friendly. As soon as I walked in the door they took my dog in without a wait. The vet was able to find out about his stomach problems as soon as he took the first x-ray. I came to meet Dr. Oscar and his incredibly helpful staff after I was seeking help for a street kitten that my brother found and brought home. The kitten was very sick and the local animal shelter turned me away with the kitten severely dehydrated. I called two vets asking for guidance and assistance, when I spoke to the woman at the Pet House, I could not believe how incredibly helpful and kind she was. She gave me an appointment right away and once we got there they ran tests, explained all the different reasons why the kitten might be sick. While the costs of such tests are not cheap, Dr. Oscar ran the tests for the most common problems first and even included some other services without charge. The most caring vets you will ever meet. I bring my dog here (after my boyfriend has brought every dog of his here for 10+ years). They let us be with our dog the entire time during any treatment which makes us and our yorkie happy. They squeeze us in with anything we need done for him- routine or emergencies. They are very clean, very responsive and high tech. Not only that, but they are huge helpers in charity. I brought A dog here I found on the streets of Miami, abused and alone. They were happy to take him in (for extremely lowered costs). They completed an emergency blood transfusion and saved this dog's life. They took care of him for over a week to make sure he was healthy enough to leave to be fostered and never second-guessed it. This animal clinic is not very close to me, but I will go out of my way to make sure I never take my dogs anywhere else. I have had all of my fur babies with the Pet House for 10 years and they are like family.  They have taken care of them like they were their own.  The entire group is kind, warm, and caring and all understand that these are my kids!  My dog ate a rug a few months ago and if they hadn't removed it, he would have died.  He was up and around the next day swinging his cone and jumping on me.  No issues with the surgery at all.  I just recently found my cat bleeding from her vagina and they met me at 10 pm for an emergency assessment.  The possibilities were that she was passing stones or had a UTI. I have a cat that after reviewing 3 different vets, the diagnosis was that I was crazy because my cat was perfect on this veterinary I was diagnosed with leukemia and diabetes, two silent diseases, but with vitamins, medication more efforts, today still is with me , standing , playing, beautiful almost 3 years. Stay away from here if you need complicated procedures. My dog got surgery here to have a "hematoma" removed a few years ago.At first the doc sounded like he knew what he was talking about.. so we decided to go with it. He was our second opinion. When my BF picked up our dog after the surgery he was walking around the surgery room all alone and unbandaged and UNSUPERVISED! He came home with a very elementary bandage.The doctor didn't place a drain so not once but twice we had to go back there on seperate occasions and have him drain the wound because it was filling up with blood. The second time discharge came out, when I asked the doc what that discharge was he said pus, so i asked why he had that if he was taking antibiotics, he deflected it by saying it was something else. Everytime he charged us for his negligence.After that he made a drain but the wound was so red and irritated that I decided to take him to a real animal hospital to get it checked. Turns out the wound was badly infected. NEVER EVER GOING BACK THERE AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. Read Less

I rescued a puppy and my first experience with Pet House was vaccinating him. The way the puppy was handled was horrific and I vowed never to go back to this place. I have been a dog owner all my life and never had I seen such a rough handling and total disregard for my girlfriends surprised reaction, not to mention the Dr made inappropriate comments to her that we disregarded to get the whole thing over with. A year later, only because of what we considered an emergency, I took my dog back. Again the treatment was rough, if not cruel, and the diagnosis and medicine given to him were wrong. I had to take him to my regular vet later and he couldnt believe what had happened and did mention it is the third case he has treated coming from Pet House. I don't have the words to thank Alejandra and Dr. Paez for saving my dog! I went into the office thinking that I was going to lose my Little One. She was so sick and with so many infections. I adopted Lola { 11 years old} from a shelter and she was so sick but I wanted to make her senior years comfortable and happy. It was love at first sight! The day that I brought her to my house, she was very sick. Lola was coughing and did not want to eat. the next day I took Lola To Dr. Paez,s Clinic without an appointment because I was so worried and scared. Stay away. A nightmare. Six wrong incompetent surgeries on my healthy dog. Finally Oscar Castro says my dog has enlarged prostate and prostate cancer. I got 2nd opinion from Gainesville vet school: no cancer, no enlarged prostate, instead bladder obstruction. They did surgery and had to correct the mess of castro's surgeries. Am scared for his other patients: Oscar Castro said by strange coincidence, three cases just like my dog. Castro also owns coral way animal hospital. Almost nine years ago, my dachshund woke up very sick on the morning of her fourth birthday.  We got very scared and we took her to the Pet House, where we used to go for shots.  The doctor told us that she had ingested something: he took and X-Ray of her belly, which showed a blurred object (because he dropped some water on it) and told us that he needed to cut her open to removed it and it would cost $1200.  As upset as we were we decided for  second opinion and asked to take the X-Ray with us.  He said he couldn't give it to us (of course, because it was tampered with), but eventually, threatening to call the police, we obtained it.  They extorted a $75 deposit to take it out of the clinic, which is unheard of.Eventually, at the Hollywood Animal Hospital, they told us to leave Dixie without any food and water.  We did and she felt better in two hours..People like The Pet House Clinic shouldn't be in business and it is amazing that they still have a license. I thought the staff was professional. They came to the place I was renting for the summer to take care of my pet, Maxine, who is 14 and was sick. They took blood for CBC check up ordered different prescriptions then my home town vet. Given her age and blood disorder Oscar suggested Stem Cell Therpy. The fogginess in her eyes clear up, hearing improved and blood disorder was gone all her CBC came back normal. I hope she will continue to improve especially her arthritis. Read Less

Do you want a sketchy practitioner more interested in aggressively and dishonestly lining his pockets than even displaying the most cursory interest in the health of your pet? Then you've found the right place.Having just moved to Miami, I was looking forward to finding a vet in my neighborhood for my two cats, especially after one, for the first time in 14 years, became afflicted with fleas. When I showed up at the clinic, the doctor looked at the cat for perhaps 20 seconds and immediately declared that a battery of expensive tests and medicine were the order of the day. He hadn't even taken so much as a blood test. When I asked whether or not a treatment such as Revolution anti-flea or such would be in order, he acted offended and stormed off without another word.I then went to the front desk where the attendant insisted that my cat had already been given a flea treatment spray with Frontline (he had not) and insisted on trying to charge me for a service not provided. When the truth of the matter became clear, she hurriedly rushed us to the (rather unsanitary and poorly-maintained) examination room where she yanked my cat out of its cage and urgently applied the liquid to his coat in a rather haphazard fashion. Upon returning home, their were still live fleas on him (!). I called to explain this and was told that it must be the cat's "environment" even though he had just been taking out of his cage. Subsequently I called and left a message regarding my cat's health that was not returned. Fortunately, I found a more reputable vet in Coral Gables who examined my cat thoroughly and agreed with me on a course of action and, in doing so, revealed virtually everything that "Doctor" Oscar at Pet House Animal Clinic had said to be false.In short, these people are just in it for the money and to gouge gullible North Beach residents for as much as they can (I have heard similar stories). Good morning,My experience with Oscar and his team has been one of the best in my life as dog lover. My family has a huge sense of gratitude with such professionals. One of our babies was really sick the last year (2011), with a mast cell tumor in the perianal zone (the worst of the worst). Previously he was operated in Venezuela because a hernia in that place (perianal zone), but unfortunately in that time his vet had left one of the gland and the surgery was not successful (he was operated twice). The Venezuelan team is very good and all about this case have been associated complications. As consequence, a malign tumor was growing, which endangered his life. After an emergency surgery (it was taken out a big ball of tumoral tissue), Oscar was too conservative about the results, since the multiple complications linked to this kind of disease. He has recommended different medications and therapy for healing all the wounds and stopping possible scenarios with the malign cells. Also, he detected other affected tissues and proceeded to take them out. More than 6 months after those critical moments, our dog is healthy and we are keeping a following up of the disease and we can affirm, no doubt, that intervention has been a science miracle and the best example of dedication and professionalism to solve a very difficult case. It was late at night when suddenly my dog become very ill. I found their name in the Internet. I called several vets and nobody wamt tp pick up the phone. When I finally got in contact with Oscar Paez (The vet) he told me that they will be there in 20 minutes. He arrived in time and within half hour we have a diagnosis. We paid a lot of money to the clinic to carefully take care of our beautiful healthy pet after a post-surgery on the paws and ensure the pet was not in pain. When we called, they reassured us the pet was healing, getting better and walking. But during the treatment period, they requested another long period of time and a large amount of money. When we suggested we might take the cat, they then changed their communication and said the cat needed an amputation and implied it shouldn’t leave. Getting suspicious that something was going on, we pulled our suffering pet from the clinic and took the pet to multiple vet specialists who were shocked at the pet’s condition, noting that malpractice had probably occurred. They discovered that the pet was totally dehydrated and needed IV and had a fever. The bandages had been unchanged for days, increasing the risk of infection, and were too tightly wrapped around the pet’s paws, restricting the circulation and destroying the paws. In addition, the pet had not been receiving painkillers as promised and suffered beyond description. We believe the Pet House Animal Clinic DELIBERATELY PROVOKED BAD CONDITIONS ON OUR PET IN ORDER TO OBTAIN ADDITIONAL MONEY WITH MORE TREATMENT AND AMPUTATION . Due to the grossly negligent care and suffering placed on our pet, we had to put her to sleep. The Pet House Animal Clinic has caused our family pain, grief and irreplaceable loss. Being a business owner myself, I know how important it is to have great reviews for prospective clients. I understand a business cannot make all its customers happy, but I really can assure you that this place is by far the best in Miami Beach. Before I foud them, I went from hospital to hospital trying to find a place where me and my pets could feel comfortable in. Now I am a regular client of this clinic and I plan to keep taking my pets there. They receive second to none treatment, not only medical but also affectionate and humane. My dog was struck by a car on a Saturday night (last night) and I rushed it to THIS VET (who does not speak English. I speak Spanish; I'm Hispanic...but COME ON!). He was rude, inconsiderate and it took him HALF AN HOUR TO GET TO HIS PLACE OF BUSINESS. I had rushed out so fast that I didn't have shoes on (much less my wallet or checkbook)..and when he took a look at the dog and simply said, "He's dead. Pay me." I had nothing on me. I sent a friend back to get the checkbook. THIS VET calls the cops for "failure to pay" in the 10 minutes it takes for my friend to get back (approximately 15 blocks). Ridiculous. Read Less

I was quoted a price over to the phone to board my 3 dogs. Several weeks later when I arrived at their clinic I was told I had to leave a $200.00 deposit. Good thing I carry credit cards because no one advised me I needed to leave a deposit. After I picked the dogs up I was told I was being charged an extra $60 dollars plus the price to board my dogs because they bathed my dogs. I was never advised there was a fee for this service, and thought this service came with the boarding fee. The manager would not give me the $60 back. I admit I was upset but did not deserve to be called an a**hole behind my back which I overheard by an employee. I was told my dogs had just been taken to use the bathroom when I arrived. (HUGE lie) After my short drive home I took the dogs to use the bathroom and they had to go like no tomorrow! I know my dogs and it had been hours since they had used the bathroom. Thank god I paid with my credit card, Visa refuned me the money back right away. Read Less
