I wish I had good news, but after the last two weeks, I have to express my concern here. I was recommended by another vet to see this clinic regarding my dogs (German Shepard mix) blindness. She was diagnosed with cancer after taking her to an opthamologist back in June because her eye had become swollen over time, as if something was pushing it forward from behind and I noticed she couldn't see in that eye. They said it was cancer after a few test and believed the only chance she had for getting rid of it was Chemo, which was not an option considering I just had a friends dog die right before that having chemo plus my dog is 14 years old and didn't want to put her body through the stress. For several months she was fine, no unusual behavior for the most part. On October 18th I left the state for 6 days and when I got back, I noticed that she seemed to be completely blind (bumping into everything, ect.) So I caled my vet and they told me to come to this place. I called and was able to get an appointment the same day which was great. I came and sat for just a bit, went in and the doctor checked her eye and said it does look like the cancer has spread and suggested a ultra sound to take a look behind the eye, so I did, and she confirmed there was a white mass behind her eye and it seemed to had spread to the other side and caused blindness in her other eye. Her suggestion was to do a surgery and remove the eye, but not the actual cancer because that would be too dangerous since it is close to the brain. I opted against it since she is already in stress over the blindness, old and to put her through that just to remove the eye seemed silly to me. So, she gave me two medications one for pain tamadian (I think it's called) and prednisone for help with swelling. The vet told me that the cancer is moving slow so that is promising and she should be ok. I left with her and started giving her the meds. She didn't seem right after that, she didn't sleep much, she got up a lot to move positions and was eating way more than usual (Prednisone) and had constant diarrhea everyday. So, I decided to taking her off the meds slowly, so I gave half the recommended dose, then down to a 1/3....This past Wednesday night, she woke me up in the middle of the night around 2 a.m. panting heavily, when I turned on the light, she was laying on the floor shaking excessively, her legs were twitching and white foam was coming out her mouth with her eyes rolling back in her head. I jumped out of bed and started petting her until she stopped, She was having a seizure. NEVER had she had one before. I layed her with me. And she finally fell asleep, in the morning she was back to herself. I took outside and she was fine. I came home during lunch that day to find she had diarrhea all over the living room, so i put her in the room and started to clean (angrily). And I heard a funny noise from the room, went in and saw she was having another seizure. I called this vet immediately. When the girl answered, I told her my dog was having a seizure I believe and I have been giving her prescribed meds and she just said "Well, we can't help you, take her to an emergency vet". I told her I don't know of one, I mean I was freaking out, laying on the floor with my sick dog on my lap.. I can't exactly get on google... I said "I don't know of one, you are the last one I took her to, I need help" I had no idea what to do. She just said "Oh".. and that was it and just sat there silent. I hung up and called my friend who found one for me. So insensitive. They should have a number on standby to call or at least said "Let me help you find one" something!!!!!! They had no problem taking hundreds of dollars from me and giving me some meds that made her sicker than what she was before I gave them to her. I ended up having to put her to sleep that day, the cancer had spread to her brain, causing the seizures. And with the meds she was on, there was nothing they could do. I will miss her so much everyday. I would suggest, never put your dog on prednisone. Ever. This is the 3rd case I've witness of causing extra stress and pain to pets. I spent over $1700 without any major test trying to find out how to help her and she ended up passing. Most vet's play on peoples emotions to get top dollar for services because desperate parents will pay it to care for their pets and try to save them from pain or discomfort. It's ridiculous. Read Less
