The vets truly care about my dog and I feel at home when I'm there.  This week my dog was bitten and I took him there with no appointment when they were about to close and the doctor and staff kindly stayed and helped us out. I am so disappointed with this clinic. I would rate them minus 10 stars and here's why:1) Despite being called a hospital, I found this clinic ill-equipped to handle challenging situations. Don't let their branding fool you.2) I found their prices to be very expensive and wasn't satisfied with the level of care that I received for my cats. Money is not an issue for me but when I am paying top dollar, I expect top of the line medical care.3) After sharing a few details of my bad experiences, the owner/manager Carla thought it ok to reply with the full details of my veterinary medical records, which is considered privileged and confidential by law, with no written/signed authorization from me. Posting what is in my pets charts on yelp (outside of the circle of care) is a blatant violation of my privacy. I filed a formal complaint against BBAH with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services regarding their careless handling of my medical records.Poorly managed from beginning to end. I do not recommend this clinic at all, ever, or in any situation. Avoid, avoid, avoid!Another vet was able to diagnose my cat's issue and find a resolution with the same diagnostic x-rays that BBAH took and only a physical examination. They didn't do any additional testing, didn't take an ultrasound, and didn't have any other information that BBAH didn't have. In fact, they were only able to figure out the issue by feeling my cat's abdomen and it was immediately clear what the issue was. I don't know about you, but when it comes to my family members, critters included, I want a health professional that has not only the knowledge but the facilities to provide whatever service is needed. BBAH is far from that on all accounts.For those going on to read Carla's most recent response: There are numerous inaccuracies in her description of events, likely done to discredit me as much as possible. While pointing the finger, Carla has also deleted her initial response and replied with a completely different message. I only removed my original review because I was appalled at how you handled my records. I removed the details of my second experience because I found it to be redundant, but I never said that BBAH took x-rays for my other cat.   To Carla, I'm sorry that you are having a hard time understanding that I had a bad experience at your clinic. The issue is not that you referred me to a 24-hour emergency clinic because my case was out of your scope of care. My disappointment is that within 2 minutes of seeing another vet they immediately figured out the problem, where-as I spent hundreds of dollars with you to only end up with a "suspicion."The way the other vet talked about the anti-nausea medication also raised some questions for me. Took my lovely pug, and they were quick to diagnose her little problem, quick to offer advice and different options. I couldn't be happier. The place is clean, modern, and the veterinarians and staff just seems so friendly, helpful. I've been to places where the workers aren't even happy and that's a bad sign but here I've come back a couple of times and would recommend it.My favorite Part is that even thought it is in Brickell, it's actually one of the most affordable vets I've been to! I have been a dog mom for over 20 years and I've had to use many different vets because of my travel schedule and also living both here in Miami and Tampa. All that Brickell Bay Animal Hospital cares about is money they over vaccinate and misdiagnosed my dog for a couple years.  A year and four days ago she was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension.  She Is on three different types of medication six times a day. Most recent Brickell Bay Animal Hospital denied me my prescription refill even after speaking to my cardiologist. Because my current chart was four days past the due date. Not my usual vet but when my baby got sick and couldn't be seen same day, I turned to yelp. I was actually surprised this was less than a mile away and was able to fit me in for later the same day. My appointment was at 2:30 and I arrived around 2:15 because I'm always early and was already in a room with the assistant by 2:25. he was a nice kid, I feel bad I don't recall his name, he introduced himself. The doctor came in shortly after, she also introduced herself but I can't recall. She listened my my concerns and asked questions, examined my dog throughly, then explained to me some possible causes and what tests she recommends to start off. We have been going to this vet clinic for a long time, and had no concerns. However, we have recently been shown the inflexibility of this clinic, and unwillingness to make up for mistakes on their part. I have to fly with my dog in seven days to go home for my wedding. I was told ten days ago when I got her yearly physical that I would be able to come back to the clinic and pay $30 to get a certificate that she was healthy. I called them today to get that certificate, and they said that I would have to pay for a COMPLETELY NEW physical in order to verify health. She was in the clinic ten days ago. It's completely ridiculous to expect someone to pay for a brand new physical ten days after completing the first one. And to add insult to injury, I was LIED TO about how much it would cost. This is severely damaging my likelihood of returning to this clinic, as at this point it feels like I was lied to so that I would have to come back and pay them more money because I have no other choice if I want my dog to be at my wedding. The employees are good people and good energy but I always feel like I'm at a restaurant and the waiter is trying to upsell me on services when I only came in for 1 specific issue. Also many things can be done with home remedies but they don't seem to care most for your dollar, rather for their top dollar on the services they offer.. This is the best vet's office I have ever been to. It has been an absolute pleasure and I remember eagerly awaiting the grand opening back in 2012, so I could quickly move my records to Dr. Frishman's new practice. The entire BBAH team is incredible. Excellent communication and customer service. My little dog will be 14 soon and we have plenty of frequent visits to Dr. Frishman and now Dr. Canada as well. I have had nothing but amazing experiences here, even in the most stressful and worrisome instances, the whole BBAH team makes you feel comfortable and well cared for and they are always positive. The environment is also spotless and extremely well maintained. They have equipment in house and can analyze labs in a matter of minutes. Whenever I have needed a specialist, I've also been referred to amazing vets, like Dr. Karpinski and Dr. Cannon. I trust BBAH with my most precious little girl. We've had plenty of emergency visits and the excellent team always finds time to see us and I always leave feeling more confident that I'm addressing all my dog's needs from a very well-rounded approach from very knowledgeable and compassionate doctors and staff. It makes me feel good to support this local business, knowing that I'm getting the best level of care. DO NOT take your loved animals here!!!! (how can i give negative stars?)After taking my 2 biewers for over 2 yrs to this location and recommending Dr Canada to all my friends, I WILL NEVER use this location for ANYTHING. The office staff thinks theyre gods and that taking your pet here is an honor. its just overpriced and dismissive service...-I had my 2 dogs stay at BBAH for 6 days in June...BIG-HUGE mistake...their boarding was extremely expensive...did not receive 1 update...i called several times and they would say "theyre fine..bye" ( office staff:you can go back hear your recorded calls) they were EXTREMELY dismissive everyday i called to check on them, they sounded like i was annoying them by checking on dogs. How was it possible they answered the phone and instantly knew my dogs were"fine" i was never put on hold for them to actually check on the dogs....i have the call log and every call was less than 40secs (that includes their intro when you 1st call in)..... when i picked up my dogs ($400 later just for boarding) i was told that 1 of them had been sick( with diarrhea for 2 days) and medicine (which i now was being charged for on top of the boarding charges) had been given to him...... I LOST it..... how can they tell me EVERYDAY the dogs are both fine and now at pick up they tell me that 1 of them was sick... i asked to speak to the doc and she sadly had NO explanation other than " we thought you'd want him to feel better"..... my dogs are under 5lbs each and im not a fan of giving them meds (esp without my approval and consent). I told the doc and the front desk, I would never again leave the dogs here for boarding. I told them that the dogs could continue the relationship with  Dr Canada because she knew all of their issues (or so I thought). -TODAY i called to make an appointment for their annual teeth cleaning ( something theyre EXTREMELY overpricing but again its convenient and they did an ok job the 1st time) and I was passed on to what i assume is the office manager? Someone who is extremely rude named Nicole...she said and I quote " due to how upset you were last time, our doctors have decided that you no longer come here..." she kept talking..."i said youve got to be kidding me, send me the records and good riddance, you guys arent worth the money." still waiting for the emailed records....so basically you're telling me its my fault for being upset about being lied to by your establishment and due to this im kicked out? are you kidding me? i was extremely respectful as i voiced my opinion the day i picked up the dogs...but ok you want to protect your bubble.-Dr Canada was always great, loving towards my 2 dogs, no issues with her. until her lack of empathy with the boarding issue. DO NOT GIVE my dogs meds without checking with me 1st, esp when im being told theyre fine...and dont back up your staff who is nasty and rude. -In all honesty, the main reason i took my dogs here was because it was close to my condo...however, they're EXTREMELY overpriced, dont answer your emails (unless you send them 3 times), and boarding is plain scary. with the amount of $$ i spent here you'd think they would try to fix the mishap that occurred during boarding...nope they just dismissive anyone who challenges them. I thought they were having an off moment during this issue and i didnt review them, wish i had done this earlier. I've been taking my two dogs here for the past 2 years for annual check up and although it's not the most affordable vet clinic, I do appreciate their great customer service. In my past visits here, they've been very friendly and helpful. The vets that checked my dogs were younger women who were very sweet and nice to my dogs. I prefer female vets cause I have a nervous little dog that like women more. The clinic is always clean when I'm there. The wait is not that long either between 5-10 minutes which is always awesome. Wow! While we were visiting Miami from Chicago, our dog Crosby got bit by something and was really distressed. Rather than taking him to the emergency vet, we came to Brickell Bay. The entire staff was so accommodating and treated us like we were visiting our family vet. They were so warm to us and (surprisingly for their high-quality staff, facilities, etc.) affordable! The vet was in no hurry and took the time to review his records faxed from our home vet. She gave him a comprehensive exam, cleaned him up gently, and provided us with medications, instructions, and the emergency vet’s info in case we needed it after hours. This experience was beyond phenomenal — I can’t recommend them highly enough. Read Less

So thankful for the staff at Brickell Bay Animal Hospital. Every time we come in for annuals/concerns we are greeted upon arrival and showered with care. Melinda and her sister (at the front desk) are fantastic! They do a great job of keeping the office nice and clean. Our pups are always a little hesitant when it comes to seeing the vet but they always do a great job with getting them to warm up and respond as needed. As far as prices go...they are reasonable! I never feel like I am getting ripped off or that they are trying to sale services that are not needed.  If you are looking for a reliable vet for your pets...GO TO BBAH! Read Less

BBAH is family owned, extremely professional, kind and caring all the way around. From check-in to the vets. The vets are so caring and gentle with the animals and it's obvious they love what they do. The prices are very reasonable! The people are wonderful! The office is clean, organized and professional. Everyone treats your dogs and you like family. The doctors provide a great deal of knowledge and information to you regarding the well-being and health of the animals. If you want to call your Veterinary office and be told to "google that" please call Brickell Bay Animal Hospital. The staff will yell at you and talk over you when your dog is in pain. No matter how calmly you speak to them. The staff is mediocre at best. Read Less

I took my dog here when my father told me she had heart worms and needed to be put down. It was just days before Hurricane Irma arrived and I was a MESS. They are so good. They worked us in quickly, reminded me that she probably doesn't have heart worms because she was recently tested, ran some tests, determined that the dog was just stressed and in about an hour I was bringing my dog home. They're very nice and they are knowledgeable as well but watch out because they will try to run the bill up as much as possible. i took my cat in because his urinary tract was completely blocked which the vet could feel with her hand. She grabbed his bladder and it was large and hard ans she couldn't squeeze any urine out. She decided to run an irrelevant $150 x ray. He was blocked and needed to be unblocked regardless but they took advantage of my desperation and basically charged $250 just to tell me that he needs to go to the animal hospital and get unblocked. So ask a lot of questions to make sure they're not just trying to pick your pocket. it is a business and their first last and only priorities are making money. Read Less

I have a senior yorkie who is prone to pancreatitis, and she's been seen multiple times by all the doctors.  The staff is incredibly professional and have been accommodating when there were emergencies.   They also will provide options for what the best and most cost-effective care would be (versus running tests that may be unnecessary).   I also board with them, and I received a photo of my pup on Dr. Canada's desk while on vacation.   They've saved her life at least twice, and I recommend them to everyone in my building. I have been taking RA here since he was a puppy. We use to live upstairs. The location is very convenient, since it is walking distance. Dr. Gaviria is very friendly and made Ra feel comfortable. I have been coming to Brickell Bay animal hospital for a few years now and I've been nothing but happy with their treatment options and service. My cat Mr. Bigglesworth is not the easiest cat to deal with and they handle him so well. The pricing matches the quality of their service. It upsets me to see the bad reviews on here saying they only care about money, because they truly do care about animals and price their services for what is fair. It is a prime location in Brickell so obviously it will be a little more pricey then somewhere in west Kendall due to their rent cost. Like any business they also have to be profitable to stay open. Whenever I call at the last minute they do what they can to fit me in to their schedule. This vet is very attentive to their loyal customers. Dr. Canada is Mr. Bigglesworth's favorite doctor, but I'm sure the others are great too! The only negative thing I will say is that they always mention how big my cat is. I do everything I can to try to get him to lose a few lbs. I portion his food out and play with him daily. I don't need to be reminded by the front desk how big he is every time I come there. Terrible experience. 1. Rushed appointment with our new puppy. 10 min egg timer was brought in by the brand new veterinarian. 2. Hugely overpriced. Spent $700 on routine vaccines. 3. Imagine my shock when taking Max to Calusa Veterinary Hospital to find out that $700 at Brickell didn't include Distemper vaccines. 4. Brickell Bay Animal hospital is a Scam business or they're so rushed with their stupid 10 min egg timer that they forgot the most critical puppy vaccine. I brought two sick kittens here that I was fostering and not only were they able to get us in for a same day appointment, we didn't have to wait at all.  For that kind of service, I'd gladly pay extra.  Dr. Amanda was so knowledgeable and she was patient enough to explain to me what was going on.  She answered a ton of questions for me, I know I had a lot, and everyone was so friendly and nice.  On top of all that, our visit really didn't take long at all.  Compared to other veterinary clinics I've been to, where you have to wait forever when you've made an appointment in advance, this was a really nice change.  Yes, it might be more expensive than a vet in Kendall, but of course for the convenience of brickell residents to have a vet down the street, plus the high rent I'm sure they pay, it's understandable.  I'd rather pay a little more than drive far away any day, especially with such great service.  I'll bring my cat along with any other fosters I have back in for sure! Dr. Frishmann is the best! The time and care he dedicates to my fur baby is unlike any we've received in the past. We have a 12 year old Maltese with heart and kidney conditions and Dr. Frishmann takes the time to explain all of our fur baby's blood work and was the first to get Miki's chronic IBD under control. My dog became suddenly sick so my boyfriend and I took her here to the vet. An exam was done And I left with a pharmacy of medications in powder and pill forms. I'm not really sure we received all of the answers that we were looking for, but overall our dog got better, so we are happy. Very friendly staff.As a regular vet they are a little on the pricey side. But I guess this is because they are located in Brickell. Read Less

Went in with my precious little puppy, concerned because he had vomited and was lethargic. Didn't have an appointment, they made time for us, the front desk ladies were awesome. They took excellent care, were thorough and my baby is looking great. The pricing is not inexpensive, but I find the value in the service is worth it. He has eaten, and is already being playful. Been going to this place for three years, they only care for money. They moment you have an emergency with your dog they wont care if you go an hour before closing since they only want to go home. If you are looking for a vet that will be there for yoir dog, there are not the guys I tell you. ------ You called us on Monday evening at 6:03. You told us you had an emergency as Bandito had been vomiting all day so we told you to come on in. You told us you couldn't arrive until well after we closed so we referred you to a 24 hour hospital. Then, you called us the next day and told us you didn't take Bandito to the emergency hospital the night before, and now he was experiencing shortness of breath. We tried to accommodate you by offering for you to come in right away, but you still were unable to bring in your dog. And this was offered even after you hung up twice on our staff members who were trying to help you and your dog. After all of that, we simply hope Bandito is doing well and received the care that he needed. ------- To clear any doubts from the response following my review on veterinary service. IT IS NOT THAT I WAS UNABLE TO TAKE MY DOG nor I HUNG UP TWICE ON STAFF MEMBERS (probably Nicole the staff manager is covering her back). IT IS TRUE, first time I called it was too late as they were closing in 40 minutes when I started talking and they told me they had an emergency already coming and that I should go somewhere else as they would not see my dog, SECOND TIME NEXT DAY, I spoke with one of their staff. They DID try to accommodate me which we agreed I had to be there in 10 minutes and I stated It was doable and hung up to run as fast to the veterinary with my dog. Their manager NICOLE (First time I spoke with her)called again asking if I REALLY WAS GOING TO GO OR MAKE IT which my response was obviously yes, but she kept reminding me that they did not have the space available and had another client in 30 minutes. IT FELT THAT NICOLE DID NOT WANT ME TO GO AND I EXPRESSED MY DISAPPOINTMENT WITH HER, US BEING CLIENTS WITH THE VET FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS WHICH SHE REALLY DID NOT CARE, SO I ASKED TO BE SENT MY PETS RECORDS RIGHT AWAY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. ITS been few weeks now and it just happens that I need to travel out of the country in short notice, I DECIDED TO GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE, 3 YEARS BEING MY PETS VET isnt anything right? So, I called for an appointment and expressed that I just needed a Health certificate. Margie picked up the phone and politely told me to wait till she could find us an appointment. Do you know who picks back up the phone? well look who it is, Its NICOLE. I immediately reminded her that I still was disappointed with them, but that I was giving them another chance since I had this urgency. Dr. DeCerce is hands down the best veterinarian I have been to in the past three decades of pet ownership. Compassionate, ultra competent and professional. She was able to quickly and effectively resolve a very painful issue with our young dog. I have always found this office to be informative, caring, and compassionate with both my dog, and myself. My Shiba has some seizure and UTI issues that the office (I say office as I have seen multiple vets during emergency situations- and been happy with each of them) have supplied me with multiple possible courses of action suited to best help my pup. Vet's, like any doctor, are not always going to be cheap depending on the issues your animal is dealing with, so I find some of the negative reviews complaining about pricing to be more typical Miami "i want it my way" attitude and not likely grounded in the realistic facts of what the pet needed to be healthy. I do not normally waste time leaving reviews, but being someone who takes a great deal of pride and love caring for his pet and after seeing some of the reviews after just dropping my pup off for a day of check-ups and teeth cleaning, I believed it was necessary. I'm extremely picky with just about everything...including my vets. Brickell Bay Animal Hospital, however, really impressed me from the first day I went there. To sum up my experience, I'll say that the clinic is impressively well taken care of, affordable, ethical (which you don't always find in vet clinics), with very professional Dr's. I went yesterday to bring my dog Rocky and they were amazing! I love the fact that eveybody were loving with the dogs and I felt they really care about my little Puppy. He is everything for me and I love the fact that I found a place were I feel my baby is well taking care. Fully recommend this clinic!Read Less

The point of this review is to deter as many people as possible from Brickell Bay Animal Hospital. DO NOT use this vet if you care about your animal. For starters they only want your money and do whatever it takes to get every penny from you. Carla charges for every little thing possible. On my last appointment she wanted to charge me another $59 just to speak with a vet for 2 minutes. That wouldnt be a problem and Im happy to pay but not after I was already there and drove 45 minutes away. In addition, they said multiple times my visit would be free if I come back in 2 weeks from my other appointment, I did just that and they wanted to charge me again! Very shady business they run. If you read the other comments online, they say the same thing no communication and only want your money. At least 6 of the same reviews. Because I refused to pay the extra unnecessary fee Carla demanded to close my file and not have me come back. She rather lose a paying client over $59, really? Very rude and disrespectful over the phone and hung up on me. They threaten every one with their surveillance and phone recordings (read other reviews), does that sound like a nice place to bring your dog? Dr. Fishman made my dog cry multiple times and lost my trust he took my dog in the back and I would hear him cry, it was the worst feeling. Do not be fooled by the positive reviews. I have been going to Brickell Bay Animal Hospital since the day we moved to Miami from PA two years ago and we have been nothing but pleased with our experience there! Just today I picked up my girl from getting her first non-anesthetic dental and we couldn't be happier with the overall experience and the results. Dr. Frishman and the entire staff are wonderful. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Frishman and his staff. The office is welcoming and friendly, and Dr. Frishman is extremely knowledgable and thorough. They provide excellent care for my dog and go the extra mile to make sure he's happy and healthy!
