Hammocks Veterinary Hospital

Miami, Florida
General Info
Every pet visit at Hammocks Veterinary Hospital in Miami transforms into an intricate spatial dialogue. The position of an animal is crucial but equally important in Florida are the ways animals adjust their bodies through angling, arcing, and orienting around care. Direct approaches towards pets remain unattempted unless they extend an invitation. Instead staff adjust directionality using soft curves slight sideways movement and diagonal body angles. The startle reflex diminishes while orientation trust develops. Caregivers occupy strategic positions often seated at 90 degrees which enables animals to triangulate between comfort zones and medical presence. Before any tools emerge, observers detect blink rates alongside paw arcs and balance shifts. Hammocks Veterinary Hospital delivers imaging services alongside early onset detection while managing chronic issues and providing cardio screening together with gastrointestinal alignment and age-specific care. The sequencing of services occurs through access tolerance. Certain animals initiate contact by allowing flank touches before engaging frontally. The effectiveness of others' responses increases when instruments undergo floor placement prior to usage. Discharge routines include re-orientation techniques: how to walk pets out using calm zigzag motion, what angles to approach for bandage inspection at home, and where to set up bedding to prevent corner-trapping during recovery. These tips mitigate flight behaviors while restoring spatial security when the pet returns to its familiar zone. Hammocks Veterinary Hospital weaves its medical care into the geometric forms and silent intervals that animals intuit across Florida’s neighborhoods, transforming treatment into a welcoming experience instead of a disruptive one.

Don't come here they over charge for things your pet doesn't even need and the doctor is very rude see their response on the google page. My pet had gotten shots at the Miami dade clinic and the vet wanted to redo the vaccines. She claimed that their clinics use cheap crappy drugs. Which I would have believed if they weren't trying to sell me antibiotics for my cat when he didn't even have an infection. Didn't have a fever or anything and is very playful not to mention no physical signs of infection. Long story short save your money and make sure you read the reviews. Read Less

I took my 9year old female black Labrador to be examined by them . I used to go to banfield for over four years and decided to find a new vet after a misdiagnosis. Dr Hew examined her and in 30 minutes told me things about my dog missed by banfield after supposedly having cared for my dog. My dog would growl at everyone from banfield that touched her. I should have paid more attention to my dog telling me something. Everyone at Hammocks was accepted by my dog and no growling. Hammocks have gotten my dog back to her old self even with having Cushings disease. Everyone at Hammocks is courteous and genuinely care about animals. Just listen to your animal. Read Less

Hammocks Veterinary Hospital has been taking care of my pets needs for almost 18 years. Dr. Hew and the staff are knowledgeable, caring and loving. They go above and beyond the call of duty. They always have a warm and friendly smile for you and your pet and they do a follow up call after every visit to make sure that all is well with your pet and yourself. I could go to several other vet practices within a few miles of my home but I choose to travel the 30 minutes to HVH because I believe my pets will get the best care possible from Dr. Hew and her staff. Thank you HVH for all the excellent years of loving care you have given to all of my furry pets! Read Less

A few weeks ago, my dog injured her paw and ended up with a hole in her paw. I took her to the Hammocks Veterinarian Hospital and the Vet said it could heal on its own, but it was advised stitches would allow it to heal faster. I agreed and told her to go ahead and stitch her up. During this same visit, I was also reminded her shots were due in a few weeks, so this too I agreed to take care of during this visit. They also tried to charge me an additional $200 to test my dog for her weight. I had already paid for this, but they said they needed to go deeper. How do you need to go deeper when my dog is already losing weight? This visit cost me well over $1,200 between stitching and shots... are you kidding me?A few days later, I received a call from the hospital asking that I take my dog back so they could change the bandage every other day. What they failed to mention is that I would be charged $25 each visit to have them change this bandage. Shouldn't I have been told in the beginning? Shouldn't this have been included? To make matters worse, they gave me what looked like a saline bag to wrap around my dog's paw so it wouldn't get wet. The plastic piece doesn't even stay in place, slips off and I can't even walk my dog anywhere because of this useless plastic. I live in Miami where it's constantly raining so now my poor dog can't even go outside! When I mentioned this to the Vet, instead of assisting me or providing me with something better, they scold me instead. I don't need a parent here, I am paying for a service!I am then scolded because I remove the cone so my dog can eat or drink water. The humongous cone I was provided makes it impossible for my dog to do anything, yet I am told "you need to leave it on at all times and this includes when your dog needs to eat or drink" It is impossible to do so with the size of this cone and I am not going to let my dog starve or dehydrate. You would think with the amount of money I've paid this place and the continued charges they try to pawn off on me, they would be a little more courteous and polite when speaking to me. Instead, they called me 3 times to confirm an appointment that I had already confirmed, text me 3 more times to confirm the same appointment and then call 2 more times. What is wrong with these people? Oh, I forgot to mention that a few months ago, I was charged over $300 for medication instead of $30, then when they tried to refund the $300, they charged me $300 two more times. They really need to get their act together! I am at my breaking point with this place. I receive daily calls with reminders or attempts to offer more charges I haven't even agreed to or need for my dog. I have even tapped into my savings account just to pay for things that could have healed on their own, yet for the well-being of my dog, I agreed.I would not recommend this place to anyone!!! All they do is find ways to continue to take your money! Read Less

There are an array of different reviews for this veterinary hospital but I guarantee my review is 5 stars. I come from a long lineage of careful pet ownership where my parents' vet is like a family member. When I moved to Miami, I was researching where to take my kitty. I was recommended Hammocks by a friend and neighbor so I gave it a chance. I called to make an appointment and it was an easy process. We were welcomed by a friendly staff who made it even more comforting. When I met Dr. Hew I got a great feeling that she cares for her patients. She examined Jasmine well and was thorough. Absolutely the best.We have been taking our pets to Dr. Hew and her staff  for over ten years. I have been around veterinarians most of my life--my father was a college professor who taught biochemistry to pre-veterinary students at a major university in Arizona for over 40 years--so I know a good vet when I meet one. And I know when that vet knows her stuff. Dr. Hew does, and so does her associate, Dr. Rose.Dr. Hew and her staff are top-notch professionals but are also the most caring people I have ever worked with. They are diligent in following up with test results and appointment reminder calls. We trust Dr. Hew's advice, and know that she will not suggest treatments that are uncalled for or that will likely prove to be ineffective.I view our relationship with Dr. Hew as a team: we work together to give our beloved pets--we have four Pekingese dogs that are our children--the best care possible. It's a give-and-take, just like any other relationship, and you reap what you sow. If you put nothing into the relationship, you get nothing back. We have built a great team with Dr. Hew and her staff, and the vibrant health of our dogs is proof of that. For those people who find the services to be pricey, please take note: Hammocks Vet Hospital is fully accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), which means that the hospital meets or exceeds a slew of strict requirements set by the organization. The accreditation has to be renewed periodically, involving on-site inspections and the like. Accreditation by AAHA requires an animal hospital to go "above and beyond" the practices and techniques that are minimally acceptable in the profession, and this does not come cheap. So to those clients who plan to look for a "cheaper" animal hospital--check to see if that animal hospital is accredited. Not being accredited doesn't necessarily mean the practice isn't doing a good job, but accreditation by AAHA provides an additional level of assurance to clients who really love their pets and want the very best care for them.In our ten year association with Dr. Hew, I have never once had her or any of her staff attempt to order a test or procedure that wasn't in the best interest of the pet, nor have they ever attempted to sell us merchandise we didn't need or want. As a matter of fact, in many veterinary practices, when a major treatment is planned, such as a complicated surgery, it is customary to collect the full amount of the estimated charges UP FRONT, before the services are performed. This has happened to me at other veterinary clinics, and I was not very happy about it. Dr. Hew does NOT operate this way, and never has, which is another of the many reasons we have been with her for as long as we have.To sum up, I can highly recommend Hammocks Veterinary Hospital without reservation. They are the best at what they do, and we would not take our beloved family members anywhere else. Read Less

My first review about this vet office was a bit negative because I was angry about being pushed to purchase unnecessary things that my pet didn't need. But I just brought my pup here outside of her annual check-up  because she was limping after a cat chasing episode. I must say, the level of attention had changed and I no longer felt like I was being pressured into purchasing additional items!  When I left Dr. Hew's office today, there was no sales pitch about buying Royale Canine dog food, ear cleaner, or anything else. Before it felt like a pushy business where all the office cared about was your money, instead of your pets, but I am so glad the vibe has changed. Dr. Hew and her staff were really attentive and provided my pup with the utmost attention and care. Although still on the expensive side I will continue to come see Dr. Hew. Read Less

This place was a complete waste of my time and a total scam. I made an app and came in to get a rabies shot for my dog. They were extremely rude and condescending to me, even when I was simply questioning their charges. I even overheard one of the ladies saying how she's "always been like this," justifying herself for her snappy attitude. They didn't want to give my dog the 3 year rabies shot, even though I brought proof that he had already gotten the 1 year the prior year because he was a few days over the period. (Of course, this is their way of getting another year of business from me when I have to return in 1 year versus 3). After I agreed, another lady brings me the estimate for the 1 year shot with incorrect info about my dog, he's a male not female. The lady cuts me off when I comment on that and says "This is the same quote we show everyone"..... Uh, no? If you're providing me with an estimate, how do I know the rest is not inaccurate if you can't even write down that my dogs correct sex?I ended up walking out after they tried to charge me $50 for a "check up" fee since he was new to the clinic. I ended up going to the humane society in Cutler Bay and got the 3 year rabies shot for $26 and waited less than 15 min to be helped. My quote was for $87 at this clinic for just the 1 year shot WITHOUT the license with Miami-Dade.Extremely rude, unprofessional and uncaring.

Read Less

When I lost my beautiful cat, Mimi, to cancer last year Dr. Hew catered to our needs in those heartbreaking days. I was extremely happy with the overall experience. prices are reasonable for the services. I recommend this vet! Read Less
