I come to this clinic for one reason:  Dr. Scola.  We have five cats and two aging labs.  I'm there a lot.  The front desk is good -- sometimes the coordination lacks a bit but generally all good experiences.  The vet assistants I have dealt with are all compassionate.  If you need a diagnostician though, Dr. Scola is the best.  She figures it out, explains everything and answers questions without rushing you out.  She writes a comprehensive report for your reference.  I have gone in with complicated illnesses and she is the only vet I will see unless it's an emergency.  We just trust her.  The place is super busy so expect to wait.  I actually don't mind when there is an injured animal who needs immediate attention over my issue.  I had one bad experience in an emergency not involving Dr. Scola and that is the only negative for us.  Other vets have been competent when Dr. Scola is unavailable. I went there with an emergency. I called before going and was told to go right away. I got there and was told to fill in some paperwork and that I'd be called in when a room was available. After almost an hour I asked when we'd be seen. I was told that we didn't have an appointment and appointments were first. I said I understood but I needed to know how long to expect. Emergency hours can be a nightmare with only one doctor. Normal appointment times have gotten better but sometimes I still wait an hour before I am seen. Dr Scola is amazing and that's why I keep going. My cat seems to only get sick during night hours and they know him well. Another reason I keep going. Vet tech Jorge is great and, most recently, Dr. Block saved my cat's life along with Dr Scola. Manager Keitha is very professional and thorough. DAY 1: I went because I had an EMERGENCY. My dog had hit his back leg so hard that it ripped the skin open. So you can imagine how much he was bleeding. If there was an ambulance for dogs I would have called it. I have a German Shepherd so a big dog who is, honestly, hard to handle. He was in extreme pain, crying, barking, bleeding everywhere, restless, and they took more than 30 minutes to attend him. I was furious, I felt like an eternity! They were so worried about papers that my dog was bleeding out! I understand you need consents and you are extremely worried about getting paid, but find a FASTER more effective way! Doctor Hernandez was extremely professional and helpful he understood how worried we were. He explained the procedure and took pictures of before and after the wound. And kept giving us updates. As well as the assistants, very helpful. DAY 2: Now here is why I might never bring my dog here again. I got an APPOINTMENT for 8:00pm. I was there on time and they "paged" for a bandage change. A simple bandage change took 1 hour and 30 minutes to get done. They had me wait for all that time just because no reason. My dog was even worst this time, he remembered the place and he didn't want to be there. He was restless, barking, going crazy, drooling, pleading for us to take him home. It was such a frustrating and horrible experience. Again I can't deny that they are probably the most knowledgeable veterinarians I have ever been to, but the lack of understanding of how time sensitive the situations they have to handle are take away their stars. They really need To get the logistics of running a busy hospital sorted.  A two hour wait is entirely unacceptable. If the hospital is that busy they should have the appropriate staff on hand. I must've watched the doctor walk by a dozen times and not once did she even look at me to say thanks for waiting or I'll be right with you or anything like that. The staff here has always been very polite, professional. I found out about this clinic because my dog ate a frog late at night and it was the only place that was open. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was close to my home, open 24/7, they also have a groomer next door, and they do boarding for trips where my dog cannot come along. Prices are reasonable. Actually, Jesper than the vets on Groupon who advertise a $50 visit only to try and stick you with $300 because your dog needed to lab work done.The one thing I would prefer is if there was better parking. Really impressed with their service. Prices could be lower but i guess you get what you pay for. Front desk staff and doctors are all kind, patient, and knowledgeable. They took good care of my cat and made me feel cometable with leaving her there all day for check up, shots, and grooming. I am extremely upset with what has happened in the past 12 hours. My dog was attacked by another dog last night so I took her to her regular vet at 8am today. He did the xray and told me no organs were compromised but since he had the whole day booked, he couldn't perform the surgery to clean the wounds. He recommended Knowles. I went immediately and the front desk staff and the technicians took her in right away. Without even asking much about the situation, they gave me the quote for 1,300 approx which had to be paid immediately if I wanted my dog to get services. I did pay and I was told the doctor would call me after the surgery to give me an update. No one called so around 6pm, I called and I was transfer to an individual who claimed to be the doctor. Not only she used the worse tone possible for this type of situations, but told me my dog had dead tissue of bites 2 -3 days old. I explained to her that it was impossible as she had been attacked las night and her answer was "you can come an see the wounds yoursel". I tried to ask for a different explanation or possible cause but she said "I am telling you what I saw, I dont know what you do at home". What in the world was she insinuating??? Is this the service you get for such expensive place???? She then stated that she doubted my dog's neck's tissue was going to recover, which sounded very strange to me as the attack happened mainly on her side and legs, she had nothing on her neck when I left her in the morning or while her regular vet checked her!! This woman who told me was the doctor (I am assuming is Tracy Scola) was rude, insensitive, unprofessional and I am only praying my dog is in good enough condition tomorrow so I can get her out of this place.I am so puzzled, frustrated and mainly sad about not having options and forced to depend on these people. If you take your pet here, be ready to worry and suffer and pay an extreme amount and hopefully if you do decide to take your baby to knowles, it doesn't end for you how it ended for mine who's no longer with me because of them. When the medical procedure they did on her failed and we decided she was suffering too much, they charged me $98 to be with her while she was put down AND didn't even give me a moment alone with her, they were hovering the whole time while I sobbed over her body. They're horrible people and only care about the money, they only pretend to care about your pet. Only a few of the techs are good, unfortunately they work in such a horrible place. I recently took my female dog to this hospital when my family and I realized she had a foreign mass on the bottom part of her stomach (what we believed to be a hernia). She also had not defecated in 3 days. Our primary vet was closed and my family was alarmed at the lack of energy and signs of illness we were witnessing. So they asked me to take her as soon as I got off work. I got there after midnight and was helped at a decent pace considering the amount of other clients which were already inside. There was only one doctor available and what appeared to be one nurse. After waiting for about an hour or so I was attended by a female nurse. She asked me what I brought my dog in for and I explained to her that it was what I believed to be a hernia. She looked at the area with the mass and immediately stated it was a tumor and not a hernia. She said she would write me up a payment plan with the available tests and options. She left and a while later the doctor came. He explained that it was a tumor and that surgery was the only available option to remove the mass. He said removing it didn't guarantee a cure to future masses developing. The payment plan was brought back to me and it was about $514 just to run tests and x-rays. This bill did not include the surgery. At this point I was unsure of what to do and feared for any worsening condition of my dog since my family and I would be working the next two days and wouldn't be able to take her to our primary vet until our third day which would be our day off. I told them I wanted to run the necessary tests which appeared to be mandatory before any sort of surgery was performed and I also wanted to have the surgery done to remove the tumor. They said they would run another payment plan and update the pricing. It ended up coming out to $1,200 + dollars. The surgery itself was around $300 dollars, the tests and three medicines which were later prescribed constituted the rest of the invoice. They also charge additionally if CPR is used during surgery which is ridiculous. I then went home. I received a call at 5 a.m. by the doctor telling me my dog had an arrhythmia after being sedated right before he was about to perform the surgery and he said he decided not to go through with the surgery. He said he wanted to stabilize her and hold her there until the next day and the next doctor would perform the operation. I informed my parents about the call and my father immediately rejected the suggestion. They drove to the hospital before work (granted they wake up at 5:30 a.m. daily) to take my dog back. They said they would refund $300 dollars of the undone operation. We decided to keep my dog at home until we could take her to the vet. She was doing worse after Knowles hospital and developed an alarming cough. Before the vet day came, the tumor bursted and drained all by itself. Upon the bursting of the tumor, she regained all energy levels and snapped back to her normal self and defecated about thirty minutes after the bursting of the tumor. When we went to our primary vet they said it was a simple infection and that surgery was never needed. My reason for such a low rating is the following- I payed $1000 simply for them to run tests and tell me again that what she had was a tumor. The doctor was clearly aware that no surgery was needed and that this mass would eventually burst, however he made it seem like he didn't want to operate just yet because my dog's heart acted up just as he was about to operate. Then he said he wanted to keep the dog hospitalized until the next day, with another doctor, obviously to jack up the bill, wait for the tumor to burst, and look like a hero, when no operation was ever needed. My dog is fine now. I understand running a 24 hour medical service is costly, but taking advantage of worried pet owners and charging them hundreds and thousands of dollars simply to run tests and give a diagnoses is very fraudulent. I suggest this location being your final option if your pet is unresponsive or in a life or death condition. Read Less

My dog got into a toxic toad later at night, we thought she was gonna die. We called this place because it was the closest one and they said they were open. We ran there and they were really fast taking her from us and making sure she was ok. All the staff was very nice and friendly and the doctor too. She came and explained to us all the procedures they were doing and gonna do to stabilize my baby, and answered all of our questions, and since she was gonna spend the night they let us see her before we left. I choose this clinic for a specific doctor my vet said can do very hard surgeries and I needed a second opinion on my pup. Dr Scola was worth trip. She did the most detailed exam I've ever seen! She is serious and thinking but you can see she loves the animals. She recommended the special surgery and helped me at being able to afford it. Know my pup is on the mend and we live much more comfortable. I hope no one has a complicated problem with their fur baby but if you do she's can fix it!  The tall boy helping her calmed my pup so well in the sweetest way and should me mentioned too! Read Less

I had a very scary situation with my baby cat. He was not able to pee. At 3 am on a weekend, looking for a place with a vet available and that I would be able to afford was heart stopping. After reading the many positive reviews of this clinic I decided not to look around anymore. My baby was seen in less than 30min. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I got all my questions answered with no rush. My baby is doing much better now thanks to them. I brought my dog two weeks ago because she had fallen off my sofa and it was late and I saw the good reviews and thought I would bring her in here all the way from homestead. I A walked in and explained the situation. I had explained that the dog's left front leg had had surgery before but that this time it was the right one that had the injury. They took X-Rays and told me that it was just a muscle sprain and that if in two weeks she had not gotten better to bring her back for possible surgery. I waited two weeks like Dr. Vanatti suggested and checked a copy of the X-Rays they had provided me to only see that they had taken X-RAY of the back legs. I immediately called and they said that it would be better if I came in again. Once I went all the way from homestead the facility only to have the staff members call me a liar because "I never said it was the front leg." The front desk, the technician and the doctor said that on all of their notes it said back leg. After minutes of discussion I asked for a facility manager and they said he/she was not available to come in. Instead they called the police on us and they escorted us out. After two weeks, my dog will probably never be able to walk with that leg again and they never even admitted their mistake. I asked for my money back that I paid for the X-Rays and the drugs and they said they could not give me that money back. Imagine having your dog with a broken leg for two weeks because of a doctor's negligence. NEVER WOULD IEVER BRING AN ANIMAL TO THIS CLINIC. This place is horrible .,!! They will not touch your dog until you pay them first !!! My dog is dying and until I do not give them $1100 they will not do anything ., I hate when they watch your Dog dying in your face and not help until you pay first., I told them I didn’t have money and all they said was SORRY!! I always feel like my pets are well taken care of and since I've been taking all of my pets there for so long, I feel like the staff and doctors at Knowles really know me and my pets and are all familiar with their medical past. Just left from being seen with Dr. Fayth Vannati. First time visiting due to my 2 year old bulldog mix's ear infection. I normally take her to her vet; however, the next available appointment was not for a few days and I was worried since her ears had gotten a lot worse so I took advantage of Knowles' 24 hour location. The staff was extremely helpful and you could really tell everyone loves their job and truly love animals. Doctors usually have a tendency to seem rushed and although there was a delay due to an emergency case that came in (poor doggy was attacked by another dog), Doctor Vannati was so friendly, patient and playful with my fur baby. The "nurse" that took the information/history down in the room prior to being seen by Doctor Vannati and even the girls at the front desk loved her and took pictures with her. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the room is not as visually appealing as the general office/waiting room areas and seem a bit outdated. Read Less

My husband and I knew we had to take him in, but were nervous about the cost of the visit. Their emergency visit fee was $120 and we found that to be fair being that they were fully staffed and ready to take on whatever case came their way. The front desk girls were polite and understanding, the vet tech was very caring and gentle with our little guy and the doctor was patient and very knowledgeable. A few x-rays and a cast later we were sent home with the meds needed and instructions on how to care for the little guy. The waiting area and examination room were very clean and i have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place. We found the charges to be reasonable for an emergency situation, luckily his injury did not require surgery. The office called us a few days later to see how Tony was doing. I know some people have given this clinic bad reviews but I have never had a bad experience here. This is my second pet that they have taken care of and I have no complaints. Dr and staff are awesome. Sometimes people are heartbroken because they suffered the loss of their fur baby but people need to take into consideration the situation.  I love this place.UPDATE - my fur baby was bit by a diamondback snake. I have only given one other negative review online in my life, and let me tell you that this place deserves fewer stars than I can even give it. I boarded my 6lb Maltese dog with them over the weekend and in the 24 hours since I have picked her up she has lost 10oz of blood rectally. She has been listless and miserable- and I am at a new vet now. You are not supposed to pick up your pet from a vet and find her with a medical condition! And don't get me started on the cost of procedures here. I also dropped off my other little dog here over the weekend and despite me doing everything in my power to convince them that she was already vaccinated, they said they could see no vaccinations on her record and insisted she be vaccinated anyway. When my husband went to pick her up he was also confused about why she was vaccinated again and they swore that she had no vaccines on record. So he asked to see the record and guess what?! He pointed out the vaccination history in a matter of seconds. Hundreds of dollars down the drain because they can't read the very records that they are trained to read. STAY AWAY! Second time I go to this hospital and the bill is outrageous.. first time my dog was in for 5 hours then passed away and the bill was $2,000. Now I go to get my dogs first shots and I get out with a bill of $415 then they call me to tell me that it was $ 25 extra for the tag. Terrible experience and I have to warn EVERYONE about it. Honestly I would give zero stars if that was possible but the only positive was that Dr. Riera and the techs were very friendly and caring with our puppy. I went there last year because my puppy was accidentally stepped on and started having trouble breathing. This is the only 24 hour clinic near me so we have had no choice. The moment I got there, they took my puppy away and gave me emergency papers I had to sign which said that emergency care would be "up to $400". Now, although I thought this was a lot, I was willing to pay for it. After they finally let us in to talk to the doctor and showed us the estimate, they urged us to sign it so they could start treatment. Mind you, the new estimate was $1800, so much for "up to $400". Apparently the puppy had to stay there 24 hours and would require several treatments. Regardless, I signed the paper because I was scared for my puppy and wanted them to start treatment immediately.After a whole night of calling them to ask for updates, (I admit they were very patient with me), they told me at noon the next day that my puppy would have to say ANOTHER 24 hours. At this point I was ANGRY because I couldn't afford to pay another day (I'm only a college student), and Doctor Scola (worst Doctor ever) told me that it would be a shame if he didn't make it because I couldn't pay...that's what every pet mom wants to hear (fully sarcastic). She then told me I should come over ASAP to talk to her. I get there 20 minutes later and apparently I can't talk to her because she's in a surgery. So we wait a little longer and go see our little pup, and so Doctor Scola comes in, greets us, talks to the tech, and leaves (a total of 2 minutes). After we go back to our room and ask the tech when the doctor is going to talk to us, and she told us that she already did when she greeted us...Thankfully the next day we were able to pick up pup and we were told to come back for a follow up on Friday.A few days later, our puppy started grunting weirdly so we called the clinic and the doctor suggested we try to make an appointment either that day or the next because she was worried the pup might have something else. We called and there were no appointments that day but the person in the front desk told us we could walk in and they would fit us in. Anyhow, as a worried pup mom, we went that day and as we're looking at our estimate, we see that we were charged an $85 WALK IN FEE! Mind you, they never even told us about this walk in fee when I called, and for that I would've made an appointment for the next day or waited until my appointment on Friday.Overall, this place was VERY overpriced and aside from Dr. Riera and a few techs, it's not worth coming over here. This place is GARBAGE. DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE. SAVE YOUR PET. They over charge, and on top of it they have no sympathy. They killed my cat.There was a story in the news, where a lady brought her dog to this office because it was hit by a car, and obviously she was desperate. He charged her 4K in 1999, and said if she doesn't pay it in 3 days he's going to put her dog to sleep. She couldn't pay that in three days, so he told her to sell her car, or sell it for parts......what kind of heartless person does this. This guy is a cheap bastard. Just this week my American Bull dog Chelsey suffered a heart attach in my arms and left this world. My daughter called them after she passed at 9;30 at night to discuss her cremation and was told to have me bring her to them right away and they would take care of this.  Well as you can image I showed up a hot mess due to my crying and the shock of her passing in my arms.  The staff was waiting for me and made a terrible situation a simple process.  They came to the car to get my Chelsey and placed her on a cart and covered her with a beautiful blanket and assured me they would take good care of her.  They even offered to keep her for a few days if I wanted to think about having her ashes provided back to me.  Knowles is not my vet and I had never been to their Sunset facility before but I would recommend them to anyone and hopefully you won't have to meet them under the same circumstances.  Thanks to the staff for your caring and kind words at this very difficult time.  Kathy D. On New Year's Eve I used Knowles for the first time ever. I was frantic because I had a very sick feral cat which I would feed, and didn't know of any place open at that time. Then I remembered Knowles and looked them up to see if I could go there, and low and behold they are open 365 days a year. I rushed over there and the staff couldn't have been more kind. They told me about the examination fee up front, which I was already aware of and agreed to. Everyone was very professional and caring which I really appreciated since I was a nervous wreck. Unfortunately, Lily passed away when the vet looked at her (which I could tell was beginning to happen because her breathing started to change). Since I could never get close to her until now I knew she was really bad off. The office could have not been nicer and sympathetic. Since Lily didn't even get a chance to be examined, the office waived the examination fee which I thought was extremely generous and kind on their part. I HIGHLY recommend Knowles for any pet emergency! My dog managed to eat two entire bags of chocolate (wrappers included) on Christmas eve. I called to let them know I was coming in. When I arrived, it took less than 30 seconds for them to come get her and take her back for treatment. By the time I had finished filling out my paperwork, she was pretty much done with her treatment! They kept her overnight for monitoring, IVs, etc., and I got her back Christmas day, happy and healthy! I'm so appreciative of the care she received there!! Read Less

Knowles Animal clinic on Sunset Drive has been my clinic for all my animals since 1992. They are great and have so much compassion for the animals they treat. Ii always feel comfortable knowing will do the right thing for my animals. Recently we had to take our dog "Simba" to them on a Sunday and they were really professional about the emergencies they had. I am feeling very angry and hurt...brought my American bulldog for stomach issues in bad shape to do an ultra sound. ...they said the ultra sound person left and won't be back till tommorow. ..they kept him over night calls me at 1:00 am in morning said he collapsed, need to take him to surgery and he dies while they are prepping him...the do CPR ..no response...my question is this is a 24 hour hospital. They only have one person to do ultra sound? In the meantime my dog suffered till the end because no one else was there to do the ultra sound. Not good! Read Less

I'm never one to leave negative comments ; however, this clinic has inspired me to do so. I've been a loyal customer of Knowles for many years now. I have gone to them for all my vet needs. As the years gone by I have been made to wait longer and longer. I usually complete my visit in 4 hours. hour one is waiting in the lobby , the second and third in the examination room and the last waiting for my pets medication. Now that I've looked at neighboring vet clinics I can see that I have been wasting my time and money on low quality service and results. The only reason I've held out so long was because Dr. W seems to turly care about the animals she's helping. Please , if you can avoid coming here please do so. I am so incredibly grateful to the whole staff at Knowles Animal Clinics. On our first night of vacation, my puppy Gigi was scratched in the eye by a stray cat. What could've been a traumatic experience that caused lasting damage was thankfully just an unfortunate inconvenience due to the competence and compassion of the entire staff at Knowles Animal Clinics. I won't lie, when Gigi was first injured and her eye swelled, our whole family was in tears fearing the worst. Dr. Sara Beg was sympathetic, professional, and gentle in handling Gigi and answering our questions. In the following days, we visited the clinic at least 7 times for help in administering medications and every technician we met (Lori, Miguel to name a couple) was equally talented and sensitive. Not only did the staff do everything possible to make Gigi comfortable, they also made it a priority to assuage our (irrational) panic. I can't believe I stumbled upon such a capable and loving group with a frantic google search at 10pm. I will be forever grateful to the whole team for their availability and help. These people truly love to work with animals and I found their prices to be very reasonable. Thanks to them Gigi still has perfect vision and virtually no scarring.Read Less

I'm extremely cautious when it comes to choosing a health provider, especially for my pets. I own 2 dogs and 2 cats. My dogs fell in love with Dr Cannibal when they went for an urgent checkup. My little Lola wanted to follow him when he would leave the room for a bit. He really helped us out as Rosco had severe allergy issues due to fleas. Most recently, My cat, Salem, suffered severe trauma on his right eye. Dr. Abraham cared for Salem during this hard time and I felt extremely comfortable with the staff. I called ahead to let them know it was an emergency and when I arrived they attended us so quick and without hesitation. From the receptionist to the technicians and the doctors to the surgeon, the staff is supportive, reassuring, comforting, and really care as they have pets of their own. They accept CareCredit and help you apply within the facility. It really helped out as my Salem needed a urgent surgery. They constantly called to inform me with updates on how the procedure went and allow you to call 24/7. I feel secure and content that I picked the perfect facility. Thank you so much!Read Less

My dog was in a fight while I was on vacation. My mom and cousins took him to a vet that was close to home since he looked like he wasn't going to make it. That vet let my dog bleed for hours while they decided how much the care would cost and while my hubby and I figured out how we'd pay. They wouldn't even stabilize him. They did emergency surgery, but missed several wounds on my dog. They also overcharged me and 2 weeks later have yet to process the refund. For the follow up visit my family took my dog to Knowles on Sunset. WHAT a difference! They took care of my dog FIRST, then talked money. They were super sweet to my dog and my family. They have won our hearts and will be our go-to for emergencies! (They're about an hour away from us, so routine visits would be difficult for us.) But THEY ROCK! Thank you, Knowles Animal Clinic! Our dog was stung by a bark scorpion in our yard at 10:30 at night, and it was after 11 when we got there. I called ahead, gave them our eta, and they were ready when we walked in. They took sissy in without delay for paperwork first. They were kind and reassuring, willing to explain everything to me, then my boyfriend since we had a sleeping child in the car. I had to rush to Knowles in an emergency and the staff was friendly and quick to help. Once my dog was admitted, I received periodic updates with my dog's condition, spoke with the vets, and received estimates of costs prior to treatment - providing me all available options.It was great to feel that my "baby" was being well taken care of and the staff and doctors demeanor and willingness to help completely eased my nerves during a very stressful time. This was my first time visiting, but I know it will not be my last, as I am switching vets and using their facility for boarding. The fact that they are open 24hrs is a huge convenience as well. Good Vet and Walk in Hours My dad's a vet but he lives in upstate NY. I come here when I can't get up to see him for free, and the walk-in hours with no fee are awesome. Aside from that, the vet and every other person I've seen here was really competent and friendly.
