Miami Shores Animal Clinic

I love this clinic! This is the only clinic I trust for taking my cats. I've been taking my two cats here since they were just born when they were spayed and neutered. Everyone is so nice and great at what they do. The Dr is amazing and so knowledgeable. When my cat Rio, broke his femur, I took him here. They were so gentle and even though my kitty was in pain, they were able to calm him down. Took his X-rays which confirmed it was broken. They educated me on what the injury meant, how the care would go, and how to help my kitty feel better. He's now back to normal and all healed! I brought my little dog in to clean her teeth Jan 17th, 2017. I ended up paying almost $500 after a growth was discovered in her mouth. The area was cauterized and a biopsy was taken. After about 30 days, I noticed that she had slight irritation after eating. Having a couple of trips to Europe I hoped that it might just go away since the issue was intermittent. I called the clinic today to tell them what was going on under 60 days of the procedure. I was first told that I should take her to a canine mouth specialist without them looking at her. The receptionist then told me that it would be $45 for them to look at her. I asked for a manager to call me back. The manager, a gentleman named Javier, said they would take a look at her mouth but it would cost a doctors visit to do that. He said that I didn't call early enough and took no interest that possibility their work might not have been done properly (we all make mistakes). I then made the comment, "If I bring her in and it was a mistake you guys made or something you overlooked for the cleaning, It seems fair to me that I wouldn't have to pay for it. If it is something else, I'd be glad to pay." His response, "We'd be glad to look at her for $45." They just lost a customer. Javier chose unwisely. Read Less

Every single time I come here is no less than $400 or more they want to run all kind of test on the dog give them all type of needles meds to run up the bill.  It takes me 2hrs to get out there. I will no longer bring my dog here. Read Less

I took a sick stray there who couldn't walk nor eat his mouth and ears were yellow which they could have told me from there there that he had liver/kidney problems. They requested several tests and the feline leukemia which they did first and unfortunately was positive and told me that he didn't look good.  The cat had complications, unfortunately I had to euthanize him which was the best thing to do and walked out with a $700 bills.  They trick you and get the money because they know some people would do anything to save their furry friend... I visited Biscayne Hospital for another stray cat with the same problem the Doctor explained the diagnosis and that the cat would not survive, I only paid for the Feline leukemia test and since the cancer has spread I paid to euthanize him my bill came about $250... would not recommend... think twice Read Less

My experience was similar to the reviewer Trish. My dog wound up with the groomer slicing his dew claw off and they did not even bandage it. He was shaking in pain and I had to go to another vet to get treatment. He had other small cuts on his belly. It was terrible and I would never recommend this vet. Every time I went the vet scraped his ear and he was in pain. No, never again. Read Less

I wrote a review before from w different account giving 4 stars. I said they were very good. At that time, I removed one star for the long wait, but since then it has greatly improved. I write a second review, now over a year later. I still go to this vet and would recommend highly. Everybody is nice. I find them reasonable and comforting. I like that they are not pushy. They also seem not to be trying to charge me for unnecessary things. In fact, I no longer live in Miami Shores, but I drive all the way from Davie because I feel safe with this vet. I have waited a year to write this review.  I wanted to be clear about how I felt about my experience with Dr. Cameau and his staff.   I brought my cat, a pet who had been my companion and friend for 16 years to Dr. Cameau's office.  I brought Bonif to the office the first time on May 2, 2016 as he had what was diagnosed as an ingrown claw.  It was clipped and with the suggestion of the "Veterinarian" ? he had his teeth cleaned (under anesthesia which he had never had before)  and a tooth extracted.  This poor animal who had never been anything but a wonderful pet for 16 years, never a problem, nothing anything ever wrong worse than a cold, became a completely different creature.  He hid under the bed, he limped, his paw bled regularly.  I returned to the office three times asking what was happening, I was placated by them cleaning up his paw and then having pain pills prescribed and we were sent on our way.  It was traumatic for me to watch my pet in pain and I am sure much fear, and depending on this veterinarian to have some concept of what was actually happening with him.  On June 10, 2016, a little over a month since I first went to the office Bonif's eye basically blew out.  After running some more tests I had no choice but to put my beloved pet to sleep that same day.  HE WAS FULL OF CANCER.  Head to tail.  I would have saved my Bonif all that pain, fear and suffering on the first visit if he had been diagnosed properly and put him to sleep then.As I said, I have waited a year to say anything about my experience wit Dr. Cameau.  My bills were almost $1300.00, which believe me I would have paid twice as much if I believed it would have made my pets life better, it is not the money, it is the doubt.  How could this professional not have any idea that something so very serious was going on ?Dr. Cameau said cavalierly as I left his office with my boy dead in his carrier "We'll see you again"  No Dr. Cameau you will never see me or any pet that I might ever have again. Best clinic hands down. I've been going to them almost since they opened and watching them grow makes it all even better. They're fairly priced especially for the service I am receiving and they build a relationship with you and work with you with as much as they can as long as you're honest about your funds and what you really want for your pet. They're very knowledgable and made me feel very comfortable to have my pet worked on there. I have been to many vets and I cannot say that anyone has ever topped these guys with what you get. I just think some people try to take advantage of clinics and expect the best medicine free and want to act like the clinics should run on their command but that's not the case. Took a stray (that I adopted) and her five 6 week old kittens to be checked and vaccinated- For all 6 six to be checked, it was reasonable ($70) and then vaccinations extra-Very nice staff, did not feel rushed. While I was pet sitting for a friends dog I needed emergency vet treatment and came to Miami Shores Animal Clinic, walk in.  They took me right away without an appt.  I was very happy with the care they gave and their prices were not over the top.  I will take my own pets here when the time comes for treatment.  The vets, techs and front desk, are all great. Love this place! Dr. Cameau and staff treat my dogs like their own and never pressure me to perform unnecessary or extraneous diagnostics or tests. It is obvious they have our pets' best interest in mind and are not in the business to solely turn a profit. They have top of the line products and preventives to keep the dogs parasite free. This clinic is all inclusive for me -- this is where I buy my dogs their food, have them checked up and purchase their shampoos/conditioners, etc.Highly recommended! Read Less

Dr. Cameau and his staff are courteous and knowledgeable. The clinic itself is clean, well equipped and extremely fairly priced. I take my three giant breed dogs to them and they're always greeted with smiles and given top notch treatment. I recommend this clinic to everyone I know and meet that has a dog! Read Less

I took my dog to this clinic because she was not feeling well, and I'm glad i did. Dr. Cameau and his staff were very nice and professional. The staff explained everything to me from the price to what was going to be done for the dog. After they treated my dog they called me for an updated to how my dog was doing. I'm not sure who is running the "show" in this clinic but to charge $80 dollars a day for boarding ANY size dog is RIDICULOUS!! And then to have the receptionist "Brittany" call me ridiculous and hang up in my face because I was shocked about how much they had the audacity to charge on boarding alone was very unprofessional!! Not only that but the practices i've seen in this Clinic are very questionable. This was the first clinic I worked out so I didn't know any better but after years of experience I would tell any pet owner to run away! They will rip you off no question about it. Read Less

I can't Thank the Doctors and Vet Techs enough for saving my Golden Labs Life.  Little did I know when I brought her in after not eating and upset stomach, that her Uterus had a massive virus and was about to burst.  She was given a 50% survival chance to survive in the next two days. They quickly diagnosed her condition and emergency surgery followed.    She came out of Surgery like a new Dog.  She is now back to running in circles when I come home.   This is a very nice Clinic full of great staff who truly treat you and your pet amazingly well. I highly recommend this Vet Clinic.     I learned to spay your females as a virus forms in the uterus as they age. Had I done this, this surgery would not be needed. Great staff here, brought my first puppy here and everyone was super friendly and you can tell they really loved animals.  I ended up getting the puppy package for the year with the neuter option, which was very reasonable.  Buster loved the vet here. Read Less

Excellent experience here with my dog. I brought my dog in to get a yearly exam, fecal, and heartworm blood test. Everyone was very nice and really took their time talking to me and being gentle with my dog. The prices here are extremely fair.I highly recommend them for routine exams and procedures, especially if you don't want to spend a small fortune like some other veterinarian offices charge. Very easy to get to...they are literally right off of I95.My only small complaint is that it could have been a bit cleaner. Read Less

Hello, I know this may bore many because it is a long review but, I feel like people should be aware of what type of clinic this is. I recently lost my dog and had posted flyers everywhere (even in the Miami Herald) and still no sign of him after a week. Then, I get a phone call stating that my dog was caught in a fire and they saw him on the news. As soon as I seen this it was like 11 at night, I called the clinic immediately in which I spoke with Dr. Cameu. He was very nice to me even though he knew my dog was caught in a fire but did not know he was not in my possession at the time.. He requested proof of course in which I had. He later informed me that a man had my son in his home in which was caught on fire. The fire rescue had to resuscitate my son for an hour to bring him back to life. I was devastated. This man stole my dog from my Grandfathers house and knew I was looking for him and yet did not return him to me.The guy knew my dogs name and had him with the same leash and harness I bought for him. Now because of this clinic responding for that call at the hour it was expected My son is still here today in healthy conditions. I thank this clinic so much for what they have done to save my dog and this mans dog as well. They offered many ways to pay for the High bill and always called to check on how my son was doing. These people actually care so much that I have even left my old vet because I feel at home with these people. As for the man who had these dogs in the apartment, I was told that they found drugs in his apartment and that he was not fit to take care of any dog and especially the one he claimed was his.I did not put this man in jail for stealing my dog because I felt bad they they had to take his dog away because they are not allowed in Miami Dade. Every claim that this man is making on this clinic is not true he is just upset that he could not take care of the pet how he was supposed to and now the dog is in a safe, loving, caring home environment. Very nice to finally find a vet that doesn't make you wait forever to see the doc, has reasonable prices and just all around fest service.I moved to the area about 6 months ago and was sad to leave our old vet but we've been pleased. This is definitely a place worth talking about.. I had a bad experience here.. And so have many of my friends I will never understand how and why the entire team at this clinic would set out to make sure I lost the only thing left after the fire at my house, my dog Antonio. The Miami Shores Animal Clinic (MSAC) received Antonio by way of Animal control. I called their establishment and spoke with one of the staff who told me I had ONLY TWO OPTIONS with regards to Antonio. I could receive Antonio by paying what was sure to be a bill they had taken liberty of assuming I could not afford only to have the police come fine me and remove the dog days later. My other option was to sign a release of ownership over to the clinic so he could then be transferred out of Miami-Dade County and to the Broward Humane Society where I could then readopt him. I couldnt understand why a release was necessary, but I was absolutely assured by their staff member Jennifer that I would have the chance to get my dog back as I would be included on knowing when the exact moment Antonio would be transported to the Broward facility. I visited him over the next couple days and the clinic saw firsthand the special relationship I had with this animal. I met the veterinarian caring for him and asked him what was next for his recovery. I was saddened to hear that it could possibly be weeks before he would get released. Strangely, hours after I left the clinic that same very day as the news from the vet, I received the warning call that Antonio was being release to Broward the very next day given his progress. I did not get that call the next day so I called and strangely Jennifer was off. I was devastated when Jennifer called me upon returning to the office where she said he had been transported to Broward already and thats all they could say since I signed the release! I spent the next 7 days scouring Broward shelters for my dog. NEVER did ANY shelter receive Antonio, especially the one in which I was assured he went to. I was skeptical because of all the good reviews but honestly, Dr. Cameau is fantastic! He was very patient and answered all my questions! And Steven (I do not remember his name but he is the one who answers the phone) is really nice, great customer service, ridiculous prices and the groomer is amazing too! I was referred to this place for low-cost neutering of strays. It's run by a vet from Central America who must have taken over the practice. It is right next to the I95. The place is dark, with no windows and looks like it hasn't been decorated for 30 years. It was very cheap to spay ($45) but the animals came back terrified. Were they given any pain killers? Were they given antibiotics? I drive past often and never see more than three to five cars in the lot. I don't know how the place survives. Read Less
