My 13 year old cat started loosing a lot of weight, shedding lots of hair, and always meowing. I thought he had cancer. Dr. Gonzalez immediately suspected hyperthyroidism and in less than an hour the diagnosis was confirmed. My cat has since then gained all his weight back and is walking around the house like nothing has happened I also have a Labrador, with recurrent ear infections. Her vet kept prescribing the same antibiotics and suggested an allergist. My dogs ear got so infected she developed a hematoma the size of a lemon from the constant head shaking Dr. Gonzalez was kind enough to take her case at the moment it became an urgent matter. I took my 9 month pitbull to this clinic for an ear infection and I loved it. The doctor was very informative, patient and attentive. I was in the office for no more than 5 minutes and I was already in the back with the doctor. The doctor gave me a concoction of medication and I left his office at ease knowing that I made the best choice for my pup. Bronx and I will be back soon and I'm glad I found this vet in my area. I came to this clinic to see Dr. Alfredo N. after a recommendation when my dog's treatment was no longer working for her and my last vet said there was nothing more she could do. My dog has a severe collapse trachea and that comes with serve coughing.  The doctor prescribed a medication that has helped tremendously---almost a miracle really. I'm grateful for his help and expertise. He's truly an amazing doctor who listens and cares about animals and their well-being. However, *** BEWARE OF FRONT DESK!***The front desk woman is extraordinary rude. Every time I interact with her, whether on the phone or in person,  she has an attitude and I feel she doesn't truly care about clients like most clinics do. Her presence and demeanor are cold and abrasive. I had called to refill my dog's prescription and she said "there's no way I'm getting the meds without seeing a doctor," even though my dog has been on them for 2 months already. I said if they phone the doctor I'm sure he will approve seeing how my dog is already almost 14 and her condition needs them and I've called to follow-up to report the success with the meds. I said I'm not able to keep paying for consultations just for meds and she said best they can do is give me the follow-up rate of $20 instead of $35, even though it is a follow-up! And my last follow-up I was still charged normal consultation fee. The last straw was when I came in for said follow-up and she wanted to **REFUSE GIVING ME MY DOG'S MEDICATION** after having a disagreement over my appointment and who my doctor is.  She was loud and arguing with me and when I said I don't want to continue arguing with her, she said " I don't have to give you this medicine."  I said, "you're gonna deny me my dog's medication that her life depends on over this?" And she said yes, because "I am a problem."She ended up filling it and I asked what do I do for the next time. She said she will talk to the owner and we will see if I'll get the medication. Extremely unethical and inhumane to even threaten to refuse to issue my dog's medication all because of a minor issue that was her wrongdoing. Read Less

I sincerely recommend Dr. Gonzales, he truly loves animal and cares for them and doesn't push for you to buy from him also very reasonable in price, his staff is very nice. I brought my Italian greyhound in because her lymph nodes are swollen. The doctor put her on antibiotics for two weeks and she finished her treatment, which did not work. During those two weeks I paid for my classes, so when I called back to make another appointment I asked if they offered any discounts or payment plans. The lady on the phone said, "we don't do that I'll take you off the schedule." She did not offer to help me in anyway. I told her it shows how much they care about the animals and she said, "have a nice day." I'm honestly disgusted with this place. Read Less

I have been with Dr. Gonzalez for over 15 years. He treats animals very conservatively and by that I mean symptomatically without racking up your bill and demanding expensive tests for prognosis.He vets diagnostically and in your presence! He doesn't take your frightened pet to the"back"....To say he is gifted is an understatement.He is extremely sympathetic, not jaded like most vets, and Jackie at the front desk is extremely efficient and personable. I have been taking my pet here for 3 years and was never told she has a level 2 heart murmur. I had taken her in for a gastro intestinal issue and it only got worse. Doctor was nice but never informed me of my pets heart issue. The secratary is not very personable, always seems unhappy like she doesn't enjoy her job and is very rude. Doctor Gonzalez has been my family Vet for over 21 years and I would not trust my four-legged babies to any other Doctor than him. He is not only an excellent professional with vast experience and knowledge, but extremely caring and compationate. Dr Gonzalez is the owner of the Miramar West Animal Hospital and has very affordable prices. He doesn't have a pre-set list of exams to charge for to every pet that crosses the door, like many other Vets I know of. He does a very detailed examination on every visit, asks tons of questions and only does Lab work or xrays if he determines it necessary. if a human over the counter medication is as appropriate as an expensive Vet medicine, he just tells you to buy it yourself instead of selling the expensive product.. Next day of your visit you get a follow-up call asking how your baby is doing. Truly caring human being!!! I love Dr Gonzalez and have recommended him to all my friends for their pets over the years. I just called this hospital and the "office manager" " receptionist NAMED JACKIE was extremely rude and very nasty. I called to find out the price of a physical exam and I asked her if they had litter discounts as I was bringing in 6 Siberian Husky pups and she said no and then hung up on me. I called back and asked for her name and I told her she was rude and she hung up on me again. I called back again and she did not answer the phone. Eventually, she answered and I asked if it was Jackie. She said yes, I asked for the office manager or the Doctor and she said she was the office manager.  I then asked her if she always treats potential clients this way and she made an excuse that she had a dog coming in bleeding and was still very nasty and rude. My boyfriend and I have taken our puppy here 3 times already and I can't imagine taking her anywhere else. The staff are so friendly, and so good with our dog. The wait is short when you get there, and the appointment itself is smooth and quick. They really look out for you and your pet, and want the best for them. I'm not sure if they take in walk ins, but just in case you want to go, call first to make an appointment to make sure you get a spot. I would recommend this place for anyone look for a veterinarian!
