I brought my dog in see the cardiologist on a Saturday.  He gave me 2 prescriptions - one was a control cough medicine.  There is no pharmacy at this hospital.  I have spent at least  4 hours on the phone and driving around Naples trying to get this prescription filled.  When you visit a hospital on a weekend, at least someone should tell you how to get medicine for your dog if they don't have a pharmacyI left with the prescriptions not giving it to much thought as I was concerned about my dog and processing what the cardiologist told me. 1) First called my vet he did not have it - Sat - he did not2) Called the hospital back they told me to go to Pet Smart or Cosco or Sams3) Went to Pet Smart - they told me to go to a Human Pharmacy- went to Walgreens - they did not have either of the meds ordered4)  Got Tired of driving around Naples on Sunday and called an online Pharmacy. The pharmacy did not tell me they were located in on the West Coast- called back on Monday - they don't carry one of the prescriptions Tussigon tablets because it is a Controlled Substance5) Called Cosco - about 45 minutes away from me - Asked if they carried Tussogon tablets - they told me they could not give me any information about the drug because it is a controlled substanceI have called several times to the Hospital and they don't seem to understand my frustration.  Again, if you prescribe a medication like this you should they should tell you how to get it filled, especially if . We are seasonal residents in Naples and get most of our veterinary needs are taken care of in our home state. However, over the last few years, both of our dogs have needed veterinary attention while in Naples. Both have gone to the animal medical hospital of Naples and both have had their initial appointments and charts have been made. One of our dogs is on a new injectable once a month medication that had been available only to veterinary dermatologist up until a few months ago. It is now available for the family veterinarian to administer to their patients. We have had several of these injections at our home vet, and did not have to pay a new patient fee at a veterinary dermatologist. Our dog will need two of these injections while we are in Naples this year. I phoned the animal medical hospital of Naples to notify them of our needs and to ensure that they are able to get this medication. I was told that they have decided they will not be giving these injections and that I would have to go to the veterinary specialty clinic to see the dermatologist. When I called the specialty clinic I found that I would have to pay $190 new patient fee before they would give him his injection. This would be a total waste of our money since we have already established ourselves as patients at the animal medical hospital of Naples. We also travel with letters from our home veterinarian about the dog's needs and I was giving plenty of time for the doctors to contact our home veterinarian if necessary. I am extremely disappointed that the animal hospital we selected to tend to our dogs needs when we are in Naples will not take care of our dogs essential treatment. I wish I had established ourselves with a different more cooperative veterinary office. Read Less
