They’re great. You can call if anything is going on with your pet and they can help you decide if you need to come in or not (which is helpful if you’re like me and have no idea what is serious or what’s just normal dog behavior). Usually you can get in the same day you call, and it’s so affordable. Sometimes it’s only $30. I wish I only waited 20 minutes for an office visit. I truly love Dr Marlene but only see when I've had to put a pet down or a new pet visit. Nobody gives you the same answer EVER. I called today regarding medicine for my dog the clerk asked about my cat. She then indicated it shows she's not gotten her shots. Well HE did just two months ago and they did them. Please get extra office help or stop trying to get more money for a service I already paid for. Really don't want to change Vets. Read Less

Affordable Vet Clinic has always taken very good care of my dog whenever I come in to be seen. They recently changed their policy on picking up flea and worming medications and an appointment is no longer required. Unfortunately the three years that I had gone here I almost always have issues with wait times. I don't come here often but the majority of those times I wait at least 30 minutes PAST my appointment to be seen, and sometimes that may mean that I am put into an examination room and still not seen for a while later. The last time I came in was to pick up flea and worming medication, as stated above they changed their policy so I was told I did not need to make an appointment. I was hoping to see the vet because I had a concern and figured I could ask regardless. When I came in I waited about 30 minutes to have my dog taken back, tested and was given his medications. I mentioned my concern to the vet tech at the front desk and she stated that I could stay and see the vet quickly. I waited about 20-30 minutes until I was put into an examination room, in which I waited 45 minutes to be seen and was eventually fed up and left. I let the front desk know I was leaving, paid for my dog's medications, and when she asked about my concern I told her politely that I was not ever seen and that I could not wait any longer. She went into the back and came up several minutes later to tell me that if I wished to stay I could be seen immediately. As a client, this behavior led me to think that that I was forgotten about, or that no one is making note of what clients are where and how long they have been waiting. If the vet is too busy to be seeing patients without an appointment, I think it would be a better business practice to let the client know to make an appointment, or at least let the client know after a long wait time that the vet would not be available and to make an appointment for a later day. I understand this is a business, but I don't think that it is very respectful, or considerate, to leave any client regardless of an appointment or not waiting for 45 minutes without any update. Unfortunately I will be searching for a new veterinarian now as the pattern for disorganization and lack of timeliness has left me discouraged. Read Less

Dr. Marlene is, in my opinion, the best Vet in Gainesville. As well, her staff are the most kind, caring and have the up most patience. I've been to many clinics in Gainesville as I've had dogs for many years. I've had good experiences at other locations, but never have I had a great experience along with cost effective services. You will get that at AVC. Be prepared to wait! If you want exceptional service at a low cost you have to have patience! Emergency cases come in and those take priority over appointments, understandably. Long wait time. The longest I've had to wait here is about 45 min to an hour. They need more exam rooms and a bigger waiting room. The Veterinarian who is the owner is the only person I trust. The other veterinarian doesn't really know what she's doing. They don't price match on medications or preventative when other clinics do. I rated Affordable Vet Clinic 5 stars only because 10 stars aren't available. They have been taking care of our two Shih Tzu dogs since they were born and we've always received the very best care from Marlene (the Vet) and her staff. Our latest situation was that Sierra, our female, had a hernia that issue that had to be addressed and Marlene stopped everything she had scheduled that day and operated on her immediately. When we called her about a concern she met me at the Vet Clinic to provide more medicine even though the clinic was closed. If you want a first-rate Vet Clinic in the Gainesville, Florida area...this is certainly the one you should choose. Read Less

4/5 Pros: - Exams, vaccines, and procedures are much cheaper than surrounding clinics & definately less expensive than the college's veterinary hospital. - The doctor is experienced (something like 30 years) and actually seemed to give a damn about my dog when I brought him in after discovering a mass on his hind leg. - The staff is knowledgeable, compassionate. Cons: - There is only one veterinarian on site, and they could use an extra set of hands at the front desk. - Expect to wait a minimum of 15 minutes to be put in a room. There have been times when I sat in the lobby for 45 minutes due to emergency walk ins. - The clinic itself is small; their waiting room can get especially noisy & cramped on the weekend. All in all, it's a good, reasonably priced place to bring your pet. Nice staff. They need to hire another vet or do something to speed things up. A bigger lobby wouldn't hurt. It's too bad they only do dogs & cats. Also, I personally think they should extend office hours to 6 o'clock to better serve the 9-5 laborers. Read Less

Took my dog and cat for a first visit. Cat got no vaccines and was prescribed what I believe to be incorrect therapy after a quick glance at her issue. Had to ask for them to look in my dog's ears. Felt exam was very insufficient. Very disappointed since someone recommended Dr. PiÃera. Maybe it was an off day, but I won't be wasting my time again. Read Less

Although the vet is good and took great care of my 3 dogs, I did not like having an appointment and being seen over 30 minutes to 45 minutes later. The first time it happened we asked what was going on and the girl at the front said they had a few emergency cases come in and I understood that. But I was still not happy waiting over an HOUR to be seen. However, this last time our appointment was around 9:45 and because of I-75 being backed up I called to let them know I may be running late because I had to take back roads and they said it was okay and they understood, thanks for calling. So I made it there about 9:50 and I ran inside letting them know I was there. I asked how long the wait time was (I had to be at work at 12) and they said it won't be too long because the dr had surgery at 11. At 10:20 (30 minutes later) we were finally called back. I asked them what took so long for them to call us back and she told me because there were two people ahead of me. Frustrated, I asked how much longer until the vet saw us, and she said she would go ask. She came back saying it should be any minute, not too much longer. 10 minutes later still nothing. So we got frustrated and we left. We asked the lady at the front why it is taking so long and she said because they only have one vet. Personally, that does not matter to me! They obviously set their appointments close together to slam people in all day versus setting them apart. The front desk girl even said that the vet likes to take her time with each animal (and I greatly appreciate that). However, I do not appreciate them taking almost an hour to see me when I had an appointment. I will not be going back there again. I have already cancelled any future appointments and will be picking up the medical records. I have no problem finding a vet that sees people within a reasonable time. And btw: we later figured out that when the girl said there was two people ahead of us, she actually lied. There were FIVE. There were three people in the rooms and two people in the waiting area. I own a large hunting dog kennel. Im looking for a new vet because my vet after approx 21 yrs is getting sky high for anything they do for me.Im a cancer patient and last 3 yrs moneys been tight between my dogs n me .Many of my dogs are hunting dogs not all of them but some left for dead.Im not a rescue just some one who cares about dogs dumped by pathetic owners .Instead of given them away in the off season they dump them the sides of highways.Im going to try and stop in on my way back this friday jan 8th after i leave shands cancer center going towards home ..I cant really rate your services because ive never used you people before but ive called and chatted with some one from your office She was very nice to chat with .When you have as many dogs as i do you must find a vet who wont charge you 20+ dollars for a rabie shot .for each dog .
